I have been to coastal flats many times in the past at this location as well as the one at Tyson's corner. Here you have any issues finding parking. Me and friend were greeted warmly and seated to our table in no time. Our server was amazing too. We had grilled chicken sandwich over ice boxed grilled bread with havarti cheese, as usual super fresh and tasted great. My friend ordered hickory grilled chicken over angel hair pasta and it was delicious too. We finished off our meal with warm white chocolate pudding with vanilla bean ice cream and that was insanely good. Ambiance was great too. Coastal flats is a local and visitor's favorite. The restaurant is fairly large and can handle larger groups but did not feel overwhelming. The decor is relaxed and the food was pretty good. We started off with some pineapple mojitos which were delicious. Followed by some corn and crab chowder which was the best soup ever. I had the crab cakes which were only ok. Tons of crab meat but lacked overall flavor. It needed the remoulade sauce for flavor help. The shrimp and grits was a better choice. We were surprised that they were out of lobster so we needed to make alternative selections. Strong service along with a pretty good variety of choices makes Coastal Flats a great local restaurant read more

Outstanding food in a totally unassuming location. Don't be a snob - love Coastal Flats! I never would have expected this restaurant in the middle of Tyson's Corner Center mall to be so good. We ate here because we were shopping and it was convenient. But I should not have judged - this place is awesome. It's outstanding and totally unpretentious. Every table is a booth! My favorite dish is the beef ribs. They are house-smoked until they are tender and fall off the bone. Amazing! But there are a ton of other great options. I would also recommend the fish fingers, shrimp and grits, shrimp roll, and lobster roll. And, if you're okay with the extra calories, get the bread rolls - they are a cross between a donut and a bread roll! It's really easy to get a table here. The wait time is usually no longer than fifteen minutes, and their bar area has tables that are first-come, first-serve almost always have availability. My wife loves their martinis! Great first experience. This was a late night stop after being rained on. The establishment is very spacious and nice. Lots of graduates were celebrating when we arrived. Our service was good and quick. The food was great. The warm Ozzie rolls and butter were mouthwatering good. The blue crab shrimp fritters were fresh and filled with shrimp! This place is amazing. We ate here for dinner on 12/26, for our anniversary. This was our first time eating here and also our first time in that area, as we're from MD and wanted to visit a new area for our anniversary and we were seeing a movie at the theater close to the restaurant so we decided to try here for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but only had about a 15-20 minute wait even though we were initially told it would be longer. The food was amazing and surprisingly reasonable. It actually cost us more to eat lunch somewhere else that was kinda mehhh compared to eating dinner here, which was super yummy. My husband had the cheeseburger and I had the shrimp roll. We also had the rolls with the honey butter which were delicious! Our waiter was polite and attentive. We both had drinks as well, I had the raspberry lemon drop martini (amazing) and my husband, a long island iced tea. For dessert we had the warm white chocolate bread pudding which is to die for and was on the house when the waiter found out it was our anniversary. They also have a pretty lengthy menu of gluten free options. The waiters and waitresses were all well dressed and very nice. This is the second time I've visited Coastal Flats and it's been great both times. It's part of the Great American chain of restaurants so it shares some menu items with other places like Ozzie's, Sweetwater, and Patsy's. The food is overall great. The bread is pretty good and I had to stop myself from ordering more. It's one of the better restaurant breads for sure. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was great! The only downside is that the bread was a little buttery from being toasted but it didn't bother me too much. The fries were delicious but I did have to add some pepper to them at the table. My brother got the bacon cheeseburger and he enjoyed it. The service was fast! The waiter got us waters and bread within 5 mins of being sat down. He took our orders quickly since we knew what we wanted and the food was out about 15 mins later. Overall we were in and out of the restaurant in about 35 mins. The ambiance is casual. It's a pretty classic look for the Great American chains. If you've been in Sweetwater, Patsy's, Jackson's, or Ozzie's before, then you're going to find the ambiance and decorations familiar. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area or have never had a Great American chain restaurant. read more

We came in for a team dinner and the place was packed even on Wednesday maybe due to Juneteenth. In any case, we had a reservation and were promptly seated. Our waitress was pretty good and took the time to explain the menu to us - we ordered a couple of starters and I ordered the special Mexican style Mahi Mahi , which turned out to be pretty decent. My guest ordered the shrimp with the grits and we had the deviled eggs with bacon as a starter both of which were pretty tasty. We had another delicious meal yesterday at the Coastal Flats in Fairfax Corner. We went with another couple, and two of us ordered the Sautéed Filet Mignon Tips. Wow, they were tender and tasty, and the sauce was absolutely amazing. I'd order it again in a minute. The other two of us ordered the Broiled Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, and they too were wonderful. The crab cakes have been a favorite on multiple visits, and they never disappoint. To top it all off, our server was the best. Friendly, informative and attentive. Corner: Coastal Flats is one of my favorite spots in Fairfax Corner! The food is consistently amazing--highlights for me are the Drunken Ribeye (tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked), the lobster rolls (buttery and loaded with fresh lobster), and the lobster mac & cheese (rich and indulgent). Even the sides stand out--the coleslaw is crisp and refreshing. Appetizers like the calamari and spinach dip are great for sharing and always hit the spot. For dessert, the chocolate lava cake is a must--warm, gooey, and the perfect sweet ending. The bar is lively and a great place to grab a drink before dinner. One of the best things about this restaurant is the atmosphere--when the weather is nice in spring or summer, they open up all the windows, and it feels so fresh and inviting. She gave great recommendations and was very kind. We ordered the Blue crab and Fritters and Lobster Bisque for appetizers and for entrees we ordered crab cakes and the Salmon Salad. The Salmon was very moist and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our food. We were also given an order of the rolls with honey butter and it was a very pleasant surprise. Those rolls were the perfect complement to the soup. I would say the rolls are a must try if you visit. The portions were generous and we highly recommend Coastal Flats. This restaurant has been in my list since I live so close. I met a friend for lunch and we shared an Ozzie bread basket and both got fish tacos. As a loyal customer, I feel this removes the best item, destroying the restaurant's appeal for me. I strongly urge management to reconsider and immediately bring back this signature dish. This is my favorite out of GAR chain. Food and service are consistently spot on, and my recent experience was no different. Came here in the middle of the week around 6- I was surprised to see it packed with people. I recently tried the baby cake sliders; they were just okay. I thought the buttered bun and mayo are kinda greasy, but my friend loved it. Food favorites: calamari (my favorite calamari in the area), crab cakes (a little salty but good), ribs (love the tangy BBQ sauce), and fish tacos. Salads never miss. My favorites include two noodle shrimp salad (fun mix of cold noodles, breaded shrimp, and sweet savory salad), salmon salad, tuna salad, warm goat cheese salad, YUM. My only complaint is long wait times during peak dinner service, but it's a small price to pay for good food and great dining experience. I love the full open window-walls during spring/summer. read more

Wow do I love this place. Their lobster bisque is the best, at least this side of Boston. Am very picky about seafood, but Coastal Flats is excellent. Do they have other items? Sure and all are delicious, including the burgers and pastas. Yet what I seem stuck on/addicted to, would be their succulent fish tacos. Wow these deliver an amazing taste, full of flavor, and consistency is always here. The dinner rolls are evil in a good way. Plenty of beers and wines to choose from. This is a family friendly place, but I like it for dates. There's something comfortable about it. Sure the restaurant is beautiful, yet maybe it's the ambiance. It is a happening spot. You can go in casual, although I'd recommend "business casual." It's a relaxed atmosphere, but sometimes it's good to dress up a bit, and enjoy the experience. The tables can be from intimate size to huge. Do be careful parking here, as the drivers are aggressive and nuts. Then again that's northern Virginia. As a frequent diner, I've never seen or experienced bad service here. That's very impressive. They obviously put a lot into their hiring and training process. Every server has had a delightful temperament, they know the menu well, and they get to you right away. They are the exception to the rule. By all means go here. If you want to feel valued and like quality food, you'll be here once, and then even more after that. read more

We had sea bass, salmon, and grouper. Literally all were amazing. Great Americans have the BEST salmon I've ever had in my life. If this is your first visit, go with the salmon. Service is very good and the setting is very comfortable. I have several "favorites" to pick from and this time went with a salad, warm goat cheese and spiced pecans. We used to love coming here. The last few times have been "OK." Tonight though was the last straw. My husband ordered fish and chips and asked for two tartar sauce containers because they are so small and you usually get three or four pieces of fish. No sauce came out with the meal. He then asked our server to please bring the two he requested originally and she brought one. My food came out completely wrong. I am highly allergic to something they put on my food even after reminding her twice. It was taken back and a manager came over and apologized. My husband told the manager that he was still waiting for the tartar sauce he asked for, and it still never came to our table. When my food finally came out correctly, it was a whole lot smaller than my original order. My husband and I observed the same manager going to no less than four tables within a 10 minute timeframe. Every single table either was delivered wrong food, incorrect food, or food just didn't come out at all! I'm not sure what happened to this normally decent place this evening, but we won't be going back. Please teach Monica how to properly wait on a table. She looked in the weeds all night long! We are normally in and out of coastal Flats in under 40 minutes. Tonight it took an hour and a half to get two fried entrées! I had the branzino, which was tasty enough, but two spears of asparagus as the side? Pretty skimpy on a $24 entrée. It was an unattractive plate of food that had no life in it. I also was offered bread for which I was charged and was shocked to discover how sweet the butter, and even the bread, were. It was much more like dessert than bread and butter. A club soda was four dollars! I found the service intrusive asking to clear things from the table that I was still eating, not even noticing that I actually had just put that food in my mouth when she was asking me if I was done. For the food, one word-delectable! I had the salmon and my friend had the crispy shrimp salad which both were very tasty. Hit Coastal Flats on a Sunday evening before heading up to MGM for a concert. Got seated immediately despite it being dinner window, & loved every second of the meal. Ozzie rolls were HOT and soft, the deviled eggs had a robust flavor and the bacon slapped. I had the regular fish & chips for dinner which always does the job for me. It's been some years since I had been to Coastal but I always leave room for the warm white chocolate bread pudding. It left me speechless. Bread pudding should not be this good, but it was. I chose to celebrate my bday here this evening. My mind was set on the shrimp roll with grill corn! Kyla, waitress noticed my bday shirt and was very sweet with her greeting. Overall a solid choice for a GAR (Great American Restaurant) chain. My friend and I went to visit this spot on a Friday afternoon for lunch and it was CROWDED. We were able to get a spot outside thanks to the hostess, Deanna. The front hostess group seems like a lot of fun! The location may look small from the outside, but once you go inside, it's really large. It has a large homely vibe on the inside, and the outside has some games such as chess for people to play. Sitting outside on the porch/ patio area, my friend and I for some reason attracted a lot of bugs?? It was a really warm day though, so there were flies and bugs everywhere :( Our waiter, Dogukan, was really nice and friendly. He was always checking in on us with our food and if we needed anything. We ordered: - Hot Spinach, Parmesan & Artichoke Dip - Drunken Ribeye - Hickory Smoked Chicken Breast Complimentary: - Community Bread Basket (with the whipped honey butter) Everything was delicious, but I got stuffed fairly quickly. I had to pack the ribeye to-go, and it was a good reheat/re-sear for another meal. I have been here many times before and the food is always good, but I'm giving 3 stars for the service issues we had. Our waiter was not good at all. Carlos just acted like we were a complete inconvenience for him. He barely spoke up about the specials, he was irritated because we didn't know what we wanted to drink the minute we sat down. We asked for Ozzie rolls and got a mixed basket with only 2 rolls, so we asked for more. He slammed them down on the table and kept walking. He never refilled our waters or asked if we wanted another cocktail or dessert. It was a weeknight so it wasn't busy and plenty of open tables, but we felt like he was trying to push us out as quickly as possible. I will go back, but I would never have him again for a waiter. The MGMT needs to watch the way he interacts with customers, because that was a complete turn off for me. read more
