We've been to Cocina dozens of time since they opened (I believe it was 2014?) and still stop in on occasion. They are known for their "up" margaritas, such as my personal favorite: The Park Ave Lux. It's done like a martini but it's a margarita. The space has always felt clean and upscale, though I do want to see the menu change and evolve as many other restaurants do. It would be great to have different specials, new items, and include more chicken-based items on the menu, as it's a bit limited. The restaurant is beautiful. They have a completely separate and large bar area with tables if you want to dine in a less formal, but still classy atmosphere. There is an indoor, and outdoor terrace seating, where we sat. The outside view isn't anything special. You look at a parking garage unless you turn your back to it. Cool fun fact, they host the annual Winter Park Chihuahua race that draws quite the crowd of dog lovers, young and old. Now for the meal; very disappointing. I was optimistic that $3 mimosas for brunch would be the start of a lovely afternoon and dining experience with my husband. First, everyone who worked there that I encountered looked miserable; the hostess, our waiter, and a lady who I think was the manager. The water boy was the only one who seemed to have a pleasant, enough, attitude. He smiled, so the bar was set low. That's more than anyone else did. I am a firm believer that some people just don't have the right attitude and personality to work in the service industry. We'll start with the mimosa that could have been more chilled and sparkling. My interest fizzled out along with the carbination in the drink, so I didn't order another, which is not like me. The chips and salsa were ok, not bad, but ok. The salsa had a kick to it if you like spicy. At least that had flavor. We were not supplied with cutlery, napkins and side plates until after our meals arrived, and I had to ask for it. Other tables were already made up with these necessities. For my meal, I had the chicken tamale with rice and black beans that were all flavorless. The black beans had the most flavor. The tamale was dry, had too little filling, and too much masa wrap. My husband had the tortilla soup and reported that it was mostly broth, and it too was uneventful, and maybe had three pieces of chicken in it. Its a fun looking restaurant and my expectations far exceeded by experience. The lack of communication and personality from the staff doesn't exactly say come back and see us again, and the bland food didn't leave me craving for more. read more

To be honest, this wasn't my first choice for restaurants that night that we went to Park Ave. I'm a big fan of Mexican food so ventured into Cocina since my first choice didn't have any availability. It was very busy inside so I already didn't have high expectations for service. I was so hungry and just wanted to eat. Let me say, that I was very impressed with the service of our waitress. She was very attentive to us and always checked up throughout the time that we were there. The food was very good, not notably amazing but it was pretty tasty. Margs were great too. I recently attended a luncheon where food was brought in from Cocina 214. The chips were fresh and the salsas (there were many!) were very flavorful. The Pico was the best for me! The guac was very good, too. The chicken and the brisket quesadillas were delicious! The chicken fajita meat was tender and spiced perfectly. The Mexican rice and refried beans were soo good! Had an overall nice experience. It was a late sunday afternoon, and the restaurant was fairly quiet. I had the steak street tocos, which I enjoyed. My husband's soco (southern comfort) tocos was actually even better. I'll probably get that the next we visit as an appetizer. Our margaritas were ok. Our server was very sweet and friendly. I would say the biggest ding was their restrooms. They definitely needed some attention. I would visit again the next time I'm in the area and in the mood for some Mexican food. read more

We did not get the food until around 8:15pm. It took over 20 minutes to get a drink, at the bar and at the table. I was also there a few days ago and the service was just as slow. For the price point and location it's just unacceptable. We were seated for almost 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. Came across this place while walking along Park Ave. We were looking for a quick place to grab dinner with some out door seating, and this place looked fun and festive. The indoors was really pretty and all the tables were spaced apart. They also had plenty of outdoors seating with spaced apart tables as well. All the servers were wearing masks. I believe that due to COVID they have a limited menu just based on the other reviews that I have seen but I still thought there were more than enough options for everyone in our party. I got some veggie tacos which were stuffed and really filling. I think it could have used some extra sauce or spice (I had to ask for some hot sauce). My friend got a chicken burrito which she enjoyed! The chicken was well cooked and seasoned and it was super filling. The street tacos and fajitas were also delicious. The fajitas came out sizzling hot and the tortillas were super fresh. However, I think it could have used more sauce or flavoring. The hot sauce definitely helped. Overall, would come again. Had a couple hours before my next meeting so I met the hubby at Cocina 214 for dinner. What a nice spot. This was his first time there. At 4p the place was not busy at all. We had the spinach and mushroom quesadilla and mahi taco with the corn shell. It was quite tasty. We also ordered the trio and let me tell you.. the house salsa is much spicier than the fire roasted salsa. The guacamole was very good and I'm pretty picky about my guacamole. I'm an out of towner, just visiting for the weekend. My friend took me here because of its location, which was in some trendy area (sorry, can't remember the name of it). Upon walking in, this place is PACKED! It's nicely decorated, lighting is perfect for romantic dates, and overall, the ambience is fun and lively! We ordered the chips/tortillas, which came with a cheese sauce, guacamole and salsa. The cheese sauce and guacamole were both very good, but the salsa was pretty standard. I also ordered the ceviche and that was VERY GOOD! In my quest for good ceviche, this definitely hit the spot for me! My main entree was the steak dish, which came with rice and beans. I ordered the steak medium rare, but it came out overly cooked. Not wanting to be the complainer, I did not ask for a re-do. In addition, there was a bunch of seasoning ON TOP of the steak when it came out to the table, so when you chew on the steak it felt a little gritty (almost like sand in your mouth). Overall, I'd give this place 4 stars. While the ambiance is beautiful and gets 5 stars, the food was not extraordinary so they get just 3 stars on the food/dishes. read more

This is the worst service I have had at a restaurant in my entire life. We waited for over 2 hours for the food and drinks were 45 minutes in between. The restaurant was 25% full yet it took a ridiculous amount of time for everything to arrive. I will never be back here and I would not recommend this place to a single person. The food and drinks are overpriced and the ambience is overrated. It was my 21st birthday and I was severely disappointed on every level. I have been out to dinner at over 10 places in Winter Park and this is the worst service I have experienced by far. The cherry on top is that they charge 20% tip automatically. You HAVE to order this as it pairs wonderfully with their tortilla chips. Now, these chip aren't your normal thin, flimsy, overly salted chips...these chips are thick, crunchy and addicting! You can't go wrong with their quesadillas. My favorite is the truffle & mushroom. Their burritos are great as well! My friend and I typically ask them to smother them in their queso. Why not, right? I have also had their Brisket and Steak Street tacos. I seriously have not had a bad meal here. **Don't forget, they have a nice drink/cocktail menu. One of the classiest Mexican restaurant I've been to. The interior is clean and well decorated. A good place for a date. The queso is the main reason we come here. It has a smooth creamy texture and tastes delicious. If you like hot flavor, ask for the habanero sauce. We used that sauce for our chips and tacos. It's very good and very hot! The food overall is satisfying. Our only complaint is the service. Our server could've been more attentive since it was not busy. I'm a part of my university's local Alumni Host Team for Orlando city and its environs, and it was in this context that I was at Cocona 214. This place was recommended as a good restaurant to host our alumni meet-up and I I want to give major props to Jenna Dever, their Events Manager as well as their Bar Staff who took such good care of out group of ~15. She had our tables reserved and set-up. When I asked if we could also get a sign so arriving Alumni would know which table was ours, she whipped one up in no time and then before leaving for the evening, introduced me to the Bar Staff member who would take care of our group. I really thought the service was excellent because the first round of appetizers arrived very quickly once we had a group of 5-6 folks and then the staff checked with me before bringing out the next round. Foodwise too - it was a great range of appetizers that we all enjoyed. There were quite a few divided comments in our group about the Fried Avocado Bites, as some folks didnt like the soft texture as much, but we all agreed that the Bowl of Queso Blanco was superb. Other food that we had included the ubiquitous Chips n Dips, which in the case of Cocina was a trio of Guacamole, Salsa (fairly spicy) and the aforementioned Queso. There was also a plate of Chicken Quesadilla which seemed to be a hit, as it emptied out quickly and I didnt get to try. Overall our Alumni group had a fantastic evening hanging out by the bar, with excellent service provided by the staff, and it was quiet enough that we could actually chat and connect and did not have to fight against loud blaring music in the background. I went to Cocina 214 recently for dinner after an event on Park Avenue. I love tex-mex and was looking forward to trying this place out. We seem to have shown up on November 5th which was a "6 months to Cinco de Mayo" party. It wouldn't have been a big deal, but our waiter's tune seemed to change a bit when he realized we were just ordering dinner and not drinks. I ordered the Enchiladas de Pollo (chicken * onions * cheese * sour cream sauce) and it was good, but not amazing. I've had chicken enchiladas other places and enjoyed them more (and they were cheaper). I really enjoyed the company and the low-key ambiance of the restaurant, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to eat there again. read more

I had been here once before to celebrate my engagement about 4 years ago and I don't think this place has changed much... and it's a good thing!
