I have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant and I finally found it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I always get the buffet with an agua fresca which comes out to be about $16.15, not bad for what you get. The aguas are the best!! I tried the mango and strawberry definitely recommend!! They have a variety of dishes. I went on Ash Wednesday and they had switched up the menu to accommodate those clients who couldn't eat certain meats. They also chips, guacamole, tajin, chamoy, salsa, etc. For you to grab. Also, with the buffet you get homemade tortillas made when you place your order. The only thing is that they don't have desserts, they do have fruits, jello, and one time they had arroz con leche (pudding style), but other than that not many desserts. 3.5 stars. I heard good things about this place but ummm...1 star for the machaca breakfast burrito. Skip it. Smh. Now I understand why they offer and then charge extra for "extra meat". I may have bitten into 3 maybe 4 pieces of gray, unidentifiable, peanut sized meat throughout the entire burrito. "Then what was in the burrito?", you may be asking. Everyone's favorite! Rehydrated steeeeamed potatoes!!! Yum!!! No no no you get out of here with those golden, crispy, slightly fluffy, well seasoned hash browns! Noooooo I want steeeeeamed potatoes with no caramelization and no seasoning that taste like they just came out of the steamer!Yaaaay! Maybe they can use my idea for a wet breakfast burrito: We start with Uncle Ben's boil in the bag plain white rice, then we add hand picked crispy rice cakes, craft unsalted saltine crackers, gourmet cotton balls, and our signature house blend of uncooked plain oatmeal and flour. All wrapped in a tortilla and smothered in our signature clear, clean tasting water sauce thickened with hand crushed ice cubes and stone ground pine cones (extra ice cubes will be added to bill accordingly). Ha! The only thing that is saving this review is that the staff was great and the birria de res was pretty darn good. Lots of umami flavor and a fair amount of very tasty, fall apart tender beef. This review is long over due; for the last couple months I probably come in here at least twice a month. My go-to is their veggie burrito. I usually add shrimp for a few extra dollars. And let me just say it never fails to satisfy- the veggies they put & the seasoning soooo good!!! The beans too, ooh goodness. It's hard to find good tasting vegetarian/ pescatarian options, so happy to have found this gem and love that I'm supporting a family-owned business. The hospitality & service is great! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Placentia and it deserves more love and attention. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall, the food here is solid, fresh and the service is extremely attentive and warm. I judge a Mexican restaurant first by its house salsa. It's so good - very fresh, good spice and unique - not the typical red stuff you get all most other places. It's green and has some chunks of avocado in it. Favorite dish is the mole. Really flavorful and not overly salty like most places. Always tender. I've also had their buffet and everything is yummy - lots of stew-y stuff, that famous mole, pozole (which is also great on its own), eggs and chilaquiles. Fresh fruit which even includes mango (fancy!) and desserts which my kids love (jello, flan cube things). I've even gotten their seafood ceviche items and it was very fresh. I get their soup/caldos when my family is sick. The people who work here are the nicest. They treat you like family. I got an agua fresca not realizing the buffet came with fountain drinks. He said he didn't even charge me for it, and not to worry. They have cute decal stickers they give to the kids. They came to check on us a few times and cleared our table in a timely manner. It's never crowded, though I wish it got more attention because it deserves more business! If you don't want to deal with the parking or crowds of old town Placentia and want solid Mexican food with an Aztec twist, please try this place! It's a hidden gem. read more

Service is great and the food is delicious! Ordered 1/2 dozen tamales de elote (corn tamales) and they were amazing. Soft, flavorful and big. My friend and I came on a Monday around 1130 and were the only ones there. Why? Not sure because the food is good and the staff is super friendly. We had the buffet and it was well worth the $13.99. I couldn't decide on what to order so I convinced my husband to order the asada fries and I ordered the wet Burrito. Stopped by for dinner tonight and man oh man, I'm very impressed. I was NOT prepared for the tortillas!! The second I opened the foil and laid eyes upon them I knew I was in for a treat -- homemade and delicious. In a part of Placentia where the competition to serve fine Mexican food is fierce, this place was surprisingly fresh, authentic and delicious! I ordered a Birria burrito with a side of consumé. They had Tacos A Mano which were carne asada tacos, but the tortillas were rolled by hand, and hand-made tortillas are delicious!!!! Deifnitely have to try these guys out. I know there are a few sit down places in Placentia downtown that are notables, but this mid-sitdown joint is a hidden jewel! May come back and try their other stuff on my next trip! read more

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall gold mines of Mexican cuisine. They have avocado salsa that in sure anyone would enjoy! Plus they have fairly decent prices apposed to other similar restaurants that is still worth the price but having it cheaper makes it more worth it n my opinion. The food was great but what blew me away even more was the service. We were here in between lunch and dinner and even though it was an off hour with few customers the manager in charge was working hard. He was kind and attentive. I feel like at most places I have been when things are slow I see even managers looking at their phones and not paying attention. Not the manager here. The other thing that really impressed me was the cleanliness of the restaurant. I must give a special shout out to the manager in regards to cleanliness. Every time he was about to handle food he made sure to wash his hands. That absolutely blew me away. The food is authentic and super good. I left happy and full. We will be back again. The worse experience! We called to order 5lbs of the birria. When we got home we opened the containers to see that they had only gave us the juice with about 1lb of meat, if that. When my husband called they said they thought we only wanted the juice from the meat, yet we paid $59 for the "meat". They told us to go back and they would give us the meat since they confused what we wanted. When we went to get the meat they only gave us 2lbs and said they had ready gave us 3 lbs before(LIES). During this times I would think people would be a little more honest, this is not okay. We paid so much for just water. Pulled in was met by Juan and he suggested the Chili Verde plate. Took it home and the quality and size were awesome, I especially liked the tortillas(handmade). I'm a fan of this place but the second meal there was a let down. My wife and I dined here for sat. dinner a couple of weeks ago. I had the steak picado ($9.79) She had the Carne Asada sopes ($8.79). Service was a little slow but they offered us chips n salsa to munch on while we waited for our food. The food was excellent. (4.5/5) Return trip, last Sat. night 11/14/2018. We arrived just after 6pm. I was going to have the Steak picado but it was now $12.89 and the buffet was $13.99. As I grabbed my buffet plate, I asked one of the staff to guide me through the buffet since nothing was labeled. All of the items were pretty barren on actual food. Its was almost 2 hours before closing. They didn't refresh any food in the buffet. I had to scrap to make meal with this buffet. Wife had the carnitas sopes which are now ($9.89) Picked up a menu at the register.....everything was clarified. (2.5/5) Bottom line....They've raised ALL of the prices since opening on a regular basis. I need to try to get back here soon, while I still can afford it. Poor management decision....... I reccomend you go to my busy faves El Farolito or El Cantarito.... read more

Doesn't look like much when you pass by but this place at one point it was good, unfortunately they change ownership and the food was horrible, the beans very watery trying to put them on my plate and splash my self with them, menudo had no meat only cows feet and big chunks of bone, the jello has no flavor, salsas dont taste the same, all the meats have so much fat on them. How I wish I was an Orange county register or Los Angeles Times food critic right now! The food here is extraordinary! We have been down the street at Kaiser medical center and needed something different to eat, so we went on yelp and found the closest restaurant to that location. What a gold mine this restaurant is! Chicken Posole, awesome! Basic Steak or Chicken tacos, taste bud dancing good. If you need a new Mexican restaurant to try, come here! From the items on the menu to an extraordinary buffet, you will not find a better Mexican family owned restaurant. Wow!!!! How i wish I wasn't on a diet!!! I would so come here all the time. By far this food was so amazing and delicious. I was so amazed and shocked ever. Everyone was so nice and amazing and very friendly and they explained everything to me and my friends. They even went above and beyond to make sure our experience was amazing. I am so blessed to have found this spot, it's funny how we found this place. A friend of ours told us that their food was good and to try it out and today I was like okay let's go. The rest room was clean and smelled fresh and everything. The staff were very friendly and polite and they were very informative. Even the manager came over to say hi. The food was outstanding and very fresh and whoever the chef was should be given a raise I mean it was outstanding. My respect to the chef! My new, local go to restaurant for Mexican food. Ordered the Chile Relleno and Chicken Soup. Both were delicious. They also have homemade tortillas which I was not expecting and made the meal experience even better. You order at a counter which was perfect as I was hungry and not on the mood to go through the half hour process of waiting for a waiter and placing our order. Prices are very reasonable from what I saw and there is also a buffet that is apparently always an option. Also very clean. read more
