A bittersweet review. Next door to Akbar on Fountain at the nexus of Fountain and Sunset, my wife Lorraine and I have been going to this restaurant since it opened as the Kitchen long ago before cars were smart and stupid wasn't hitting the Top 40 with a bullet. We love this place. It is the very definition of a neighborhood business. Our dependable go to for casual comfort and great food, Concina Vino is a small, very friendly venue with great service, no televisions to distract or ignore and almost always a variety of ambient music playing just loud enough overhead to be heard but never loud enough to overwhelm or interrupt. I could eat the Pesto Bruschetta with Peaches and Ricotta appetizer all by itself day and night. The Mexican spin on the Caesar Salad with avocado and tortilla strips is a refreshing and wonderful take on a culinary classic. For many years I was addicted to the Famous Fried Chicken, but lately, the Chicken Adobo has taken over the top spot. Delicious, hot from the kitchen, mildly spiced, tender and succulent, there's nothing quite like it anywhere else. And if you are there for breakfast and love Huevos Rancheros like I do, don't miss it. Outstanding! So many things I could say about this truly unique gem that adds so much to the character of our rapidly changing Silver Lake neighborhood (and the world) as the costs of doing business and dining escalate exponentially. So much for the sweet. Last night we were hit with the truly sad news from Cocina Vino's owner Gustavo that he must close Cocina's doors forever at end of day this coming Sunday, May 24th. Yes, I've been on the planet long enough to know that change is the one thing you can count on. That the good, no matter how old, always leave too soon. Thanks for taking such good care of us. Transformed from the original space of Perfect Pattie and The Kitchen, CV takes over with an inspired fusion Argentinian, American and Italian menu that delights the curious and highlights what an individual chef can do (in fact, this weekend's special was Shepards Pie). Service is solo for the moment as there isn't really a peak dining period for this location as it has been for decades. Brunches are often the most popular, but so is dining before bar hopping or catching a local cabaret act. Tucked away unassumingly behind the McDonalds there is limited lot parking and street parking nearby. Execution is pretty good at this point though they are sometimes stocking out on favorites, so go early for best selections. Flavors are robust and well executed with South America style shining through each dish. A few extra 2-tops are available outside for dog-friendly options and to catch the pretty sunsets from this relaxed location off Sunset & Fountain. Fresh peaches on bruschetta is an amazing combo! Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY!! "Peach bread" lightly sweet & salty. Highly recommended. Chicken, spinach and fries, very yummy. You have the option of mashed potatoes or salad too! Chicken and bacon sandwich, light but, filling. Lemonade a little too sweet, maybe too much concentrate but, that's my opinion. Empty seating. I asked the owner, he said he bought it 9 months ago before the previous owner had the kitchen for 25+ years. I believe the pricing is reasonable. Plenty of seating available inside and outside. Since it was not too many people I had time to talk to owner and he's very genuine. Now, I only went for lunch but, I'd look forward in trying their breakfast menu. Cozy, unassuming little restaurant within walking distance from CHLA/Kaiser Sunset, near the corner of Fountain Ave. We were greeted by the host/server as soon as we walked in and were promptly seated. We started with the peaches, ricotta, and pesto bruschetta, which was an interesting twist but both adults and kiddos (5 & 6 year olds) thought they were tasty. My main was their Famous Kitchen's Fried Chicken which I thought was perfectly breaded, seasoned, and cooked. It was crisp and juicy and the accompanying gravy, mashed potatoes, and succotash were perfect. If you aren't sure what to get I would definitely choose the chicken. The warm walnut bread pudding with ice cream for dessert was also really good as the warm and cold together was nice for a "cool Los Angeles night". Really enjoyed this place and I liked that the menu was simple. Good food with prompt, warm service makes for a satisfied yelper. May need to come and check out the brunch vibes... read more

Cocina Vino is truly a gem in Silver Lake! The interior is beautiful, and it reminded me a bit of Mexico. This space actually used to be a local favorite called The Kitchen, right next door to Akbar. When that closed, one of their employees reopened this space as Cocina Vino and still has some local favorite dishes from the previous place. I passed by this spot a few times and I'm glad I stopped by with such an awesome story! Plus, the food was also delicious!!! For dinner - the pesto bruschetta with peaches was amazing!! The bread was so soft and it was so flavorful. I also really liked the chimichurri steak! For brunch - The French toast is unbelievable! So soft and delicious. Breakfast burrito is also good. Exceptional Food & Atmosphere Cocina Vino absolutely blew me away. Every bite felt carefully crafted, and the flavors were next-level. The pan-seared Scottish salmon was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside, with a sauce that tied everything together beautifully. I'd been going to The Kitchen, the restaurant that eventually became Concina Vino for over ten years. The Kitchen was known for having somewhat up-market comfort foods and that has definitely continued in the Concina Vino restaurant. However, the menu includes a much larger number of Latin American dishes than previously found. Inside the decor had not changed terribly much and the interior was comfortable. I ordered the steak with chimichurri sauce, french fries and asparagus. It was delightful. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce really brought out the flavor. The french fries had that great middle-ground of crisp then soft and the asparagus was bright and delicious. The service at Concina Vino was really excellent. Me and my dining partner definitely felt well-taken care of and condiments and drinks were brought quickly. The price for a steak dinner with sides was only 26 dollars which, given our current economy, I feel was quite reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. I definitely feel this place will serve as a fun local eatery in Silverlake/Los Feliz. Definitely recommend. read more

Three times I had mini tacos combo. It has refried beens with cheese on top. Spanish rice on the side. I chose chicken on flour tortillas with onions, salantro. On the side in separate container from the salad bar I had radishes, cucumber, salsa, butter and an order of flour or corn tortilla on the side for a 1.85 more. You get six in an order of tortilla.
