The time before I had to send it back because it was like a tennis shoe sole. I even asked that it not be over cooked when I first ordered. Yikes!!! Pizza sauce was very thick and tomato pasty (canned?) At least the crust was good. I'm a big fan of Merriman's, but this branch is not anything like the original Wailea restaurant. Somebody in management needs to wake up and get involved. Customers shouldn't be taken for granted. For now, go to Aloha Grill.

They were equally delicious. In addition to our main courses, everything was super tasty fresh and well presented. The view and overall environment of the inside bar was incredible. Our accommodations are oceanfront so to still get a wow factor from a restaurant setting other than the sea house notable. The highlight of our experience was our amazing waiter named Dylan, a young man with a polished and professional and friendly approach. He was very attentive and spent time with us, enjoying our stories of life and sharing his own. These were all obviously cliff note versions as he was busy with other tables, but he was really engaging and offered incredible advice on what to order. We have had lots of fine, dining experience, including Michelin star restaurants, and this guy could easily work at any of them however, he did say how happy he was at Merriman's and that says a lot I could tell the staff was all having a good time and enjoying their working experience which then of course the vibe rolls into the guests and their dining experience. I hope the manager reads this and appreciates such a kind young wonderful man working at their establishment and representing to the T. If you're lucky enough to score reservations, definitely go! For drinks I ordered the mai tai ($15) which was strong but still on the sweeter side. They have daily happy hour from 3-5pm and live music every Saturday from 6-8pm. We had a big group with kids and no reservations and they were able to accommodate us without a problem so we were very appreciative.

This is one of the toughest reviews I've had to write. As a huge fan of Mala and the team behind Cocoa Deck, I had high hopes that this would be another incredible addition to their portfolio. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me very disappointed. For $169, I expected a memorable meal, but sadly, it fell short in almost every way. First off, the Smash Burger was extremely underwhelming. At $26, I was expecting something special, but it was one of the soggiest, most flavorless burgers I've ever had. Honestly, I would have been better off going to a fast-food chain across the street. Then came the Fish and Chips--not only was it difficult to share, as it consisted of a single piece, but the batter was soggy, lacking any crispiness or flavor. It seemed like the fryer wasn't hot enough, leading to a soggy exterior and an overcooked interior. To top it off, the loaded fries were a disappointment. The "loaded" aspect consisted only of a basic sauce and a few onions, which did nothing to enhance the dish. I'd recommend skipping this add-on entirely. On a positive note, the service was fantastic. The staff was attentive and professional, and sitting on the patio with the beautiful sunset in view was the highlight of the evening. Sadly, though, the food simply didn't live up to the setting or the reputation of this restaurant group. Overall, it pains me to say this, but my experience at Cocoa Deck was a letdown. I really hope they make improvements, as I want to see this restaurant succeed. Until then, I can't recommend it at this price point. read more

I went to Coco Deck on Maui for the magic show and dinner, and it was one of those nights that leaves you smiling long after you leave. The show was seriously impressive--a perfect mix of mind-blowing illusions, quick humor, and audience interaction. Even the skeptics at our table were leaning forward, trying to figure out how on earth he did it. And let's talk about the food: the prix fixe dinner was surprisingly fantastic. I went with the fish option, and it was exceptional--perfectly cooked, flavorful (wow), and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. They also celebrated my birthday, which was a nice touch. It's rare to find a dinner show that nails both the dinner and the show, but Coco Deck absolutely does. We also enjoyed a few cocktails and, of course, had to try the mini Mai Tai shot Definitely a fun touch! But what really made the experience was our server, Moana. She was absolutely awesome -- super sweet, funny, welcoming, and really knowledgeable about the menu. Great service can make a good meal memorable, and she did exactly that. We came in as a large group of 7 without a reservation, and the staff at Coco Deck handled it so well. They calmly asked us to wait a short while while they rearranged tables, and before we knew it, we were seated comfortably. The service stood out from the start to the very end. The team was genuinely friendly, engaged, and appreciative of our business. It felt like they enjoyed being there, which made the whole experience even better. The cocktails were solid, and the food didn't disappoint--especially the fish, which tasted fresh and flavorful. From start to finish, the staff's kindness and attentiveness made the visit memorable. The Caesar's Salad with chicken was a beautiful meal. The French Dip was hearty, and the crispy onions added the flare to make it elevated. The Lettuce wraps were a good appetizer, because everyone could share. Don't skip the bread with homemade garlic butter. Thank you JP. You were an excellent server. Bonus: This restaurant takes care of the staff behind the scene by adding a tiny % for the chef & crew. This is amazing. If you have ever worked in the industry, you know how considerate and helpful this small gesture is. It is so minimal, you probably won't notice, but it really tells you that the owner understands how important the people doing the prep, the cleaning, the cooking, and the heavy lifting is to a successful restaurant. Bravo! Supporting the locals is an honor and I'm highly impressed. Anyone who complains should really think about what Maui, and the people in the service industry have been through these past few years. Don't complain.

Skip the buffet. The eggs were watery and soupy, and the "Hawaiian sausage" turned out to be little more than sliced hot dogs. For a resort of this caliber in a destination known for incredible food, it felt surprisingly low effort. Service was probably the strongest part of the experience, but even that was average at best. I'd call it a 6 out of 10. Friendly enough, but not the level of hospitality you'd expect given the prices and setting. The disconnect is especially noticeable because the Wailea Beach Resort itself is fantastic. We genuinely loved our stay and would absolutely return to the property. That's what makes the restaurant so disappointing. It feels like a business operating inside a great resort rather than an extension of the resort experience. If you're staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and explore the many excellent dining options around Wailea instead.
