It's definitely a place where you're paying a premium for the oceanfront view and atmosphere. Beautiful location and friendly service, but the food and overall value fell short for us.

This is one of the toughest reviews I've had to write. As a huge fan of Mala and the team behind Cocoa Deck, I had high hopes that this would be another incredible addition to their portfolio. Unfortunately, my recent visit left me very disappointed. For $169, I expected a memorable meal, but sadly, it fell short in almost every way. First off, the Smash Burger was extremely underwhelming. At $26, I was expecting something special, but it was one of the soggiest, most flavorless burgers I've ever had. Honestly, I would have been better off going to a fast-food chain across the street. Then came the Fish and Chips--not only was it difficult to share, as it consisted of a single piece, but the batter was soggy, lacking any crispiness or flavor. It seemed like the fryer wasn't hot enough, leading to a soggy exterior and an overcooked interior. To top it off, the loaded fries were a disappointment. The "loaded" aspect consisted only of a basic sauce and a few onions, which did nothing to enhance the dish. I'd recommend skipping this add-on entirely. On a positive note, the service was fantastic. The staff was attentive and professional, and sitting on the patio with the beautiful sunset in view was the highlight of the evening. Sadly, though, the food simply didn't live up to the setting or the reputation of this restaurant group. Overall, it pains me to say this, but my experience at Cocoa Deck was a letdown. I really hope they make improvements, as I want to see this restaurant succeed. Until then, I can't recommend it at this price point. read more

I went to Coco Deck on Maui for the magic show and dinner, and it was one of those nights that leaves you smiling long after you leave. The show was seriously impressive--a perfect mix of mind-blowing illusions, quick humor, and audience interaction. Even the skeptics at our table were leaning forward, trying to figure out how on earth he did it. And let's talk about the food: the prix fixe dinner was surprisingly fantastic. I went with the fish option, and it was exceptional--perfectly cooked, flavorful (wow), and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. They also celebrated my birthday, which was a nice touch. It's rare to find a dinner show that nails both the dinner and the show, but Coco Deck absolutely does. CoCo Deck in Lahaina -- easily some of the best eats we had on Maui! The fish tacos were fresh, juicy, and seriously filling -- exactly what you want when you're eating fresh fish by the water. We also enjoyed a few cocktails and, of course, had to try the mini Mai Tai shot Definitely a fun touch! But what really made the experience was our server, Moana. She was absolutely awesome -- super sweet, funny, welcoming, and really knowledgeable about the menu. Great service can make a good meal memorable, and she did exactly that. Coming from a mainland chef, I have a ton of respect for a place that brings together good food, good drinks, and genuinely great hospitality. CoCo Deck delivered all around. They calmly asked us to wait a short while while they rearranged tables, and before we knew it, we were seated comfortably. The service stood out from the start to the very end. The team was genuinely friendly, engaged, and appreciative of our business. It felt like they enjoyed being there, which made the whole experience even better. It's a hulking dessert that might be crowd pleasing with a table of kids. It's much too much for one or two people, and not that interesting. I liked the chocolate sauce and the nuts, and that's all I ate. They have this at all of their restaurants, but I wouldn't pay to order it. Humble Market Kitchen feels like a restaurant that knows it has a captive audience and has stopped trying very hard. The food was uninspired, generic, and significantly overpriced for what was delivered. Nothing was particularly bad, but almost nothing was memorable either. Breakfast was especially underwhelming. Skip the buffet. The eggs were watery and soupy, and the "Hawaiian sausage" turned out to be little more than sliced hot dogs. For a resort of this caliber in a destination known for incredible food, it felt surprisingly low effort. Service was probably the strongest part of the experience, but even that was average at best. I'd call it a 6 out of 10. Friendly enough, but not the level of hospitality you'd expect given the prices and setting. The disconnect is especially noticeable because the Wailea Beach Resort itself is fantastic. We genuinely loved our stay and would absolutely return to the property. That's what makes the restaurant so disappointing. It feels like a business operating inside a great resort rather than an extension of the resort experience. If you're staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and explore the many excellent dining options around Wailea instead. Maui has too many great restaurants to spend your vacation settling for this one.

The setup was nice -- breakfast items in one room, and everything else in another -- and even though we were seated during the later half of the brunch, there was still an overload of options with items being constantly refilled. They had sushi, prime rib, crab legs, desserts, breakfast favorites, and plenty more. I did manage to snag a few crab legs before they ran out (such a bummer!), and I even left some behind for the next person thinking they'd get refilled... lesson learned, lol. But everything I did try was delicious. My family and I had a really enjoyable time. Service was nice and friendly. Between the variety, the quality, and the relaxed resort setting, it ended up being a lovely way to spend Mother's Day.
