My complete honest thoughts of this place; The food was good, but 30 minutes into getting home I had food poisoning. Super bad symptoms and stomach ache. The place looks clean, but it gets so crowded and then you can't even hear the people at your table. The view is the freeway and a few businesses really nothing fascinating. Our waiter was nice, but she disappeared so much and rarely came to check on us. Overall: The amount of money you pay for this food is WAY too much and there are cheaper local restaurants that can serve the same meals. Sure, no view but trust me, you're really NOT missing out. I hope I don't have to go to urgent care for the food poisoning. P.S $8.00 to park your car & bring it back to you. read more

I'd like to give the bartender a tip, next time someone says "put it on his bill" please make sure the person that's paying agrees, bartender was asking my son to pay for a drink that someone asked to put on his bill :(. Came on a weekend (Saturday) was surprised that there's no buffet anymore ala carte. Parking is only valet which is $8 I'm not sure why when it's not even busy. Food takes a while to come out even appetizers . We ordered calamari and guacamole chips with banana chips, the calamari crispy and that's pretty much it needs seasoning really bland the dipping sauce same thing. The guacamole is good Pico de gallo is good and green salsa na. I just wished they put more chips instead of those banana chips or something they don't really match with pico de gallo and guacamole. Ordered the steak palomilla steak seasoned well but the meat is not good ordered medium well so gummy hard to eat it my friend took a bite that's it comes with rice and black beans. Arroz frito kinda like a fried rice with shrimp, chicken and ham was ok but not something that you will order again. Masitas de Puerco is good it's like dried adobo well seasoned gods with white rice, we also had paella Valenciana is ok I just wish they use fresh shrimp you know right away on your first bite. Upon arrival our tables were separated, and our group was kept in 3 separate tables...due to limited space even though the room was 50% empty. This was corrected half way into our lunch as we persisted. Inconvenient and thoughtless. The quality of our food was not as expected from previous visits there. The food seemed reheated and fyi...rationed at one plantain per plate. As always the view is beautiful. Coffee...well unable to accommodate 14 cups of espresso. All cold. For anyone who may not be aware, Coco Palm has re-opened for dine-in on (or before) June 12, 2020. Hurray!!! The food, ambience, and (of course) view are still outstanding. The service was friendly all around - admittedly a bit slow at one point during my visit on Friday, but I believe that was probably due to our server (Alfonso) being overwhelmed at dinner time (he was truly a very nice guy, and I would be glad to have him as my server again). It's been awhile, probably over ten years since I've been at this restaurant. Just like before, this place has good food, service, and ambiance. We walked into this place on a Saturday for a late lunch recently. Parking was easy, greeter was polite, and we were seated within a few minutes. The place was surprisingly still busy even for a late lunch. We ordered our drinks and food quickly. My go to drink is a Mojito and my wife ordered a Guava Margarita. For starters, we ordered the guacamole which came with a side of green salsa and side dish of tomatoes, onions, mango salsa. This was a big portion probably enough for four to five people. The salsa was refreshing and the guacamole was tasty and addicting. We were kinda full after trying to finish this dish. For entrees, my wife ordered the Ropa Vieja and I ordered the Lechon Asado. My wife usually orders Ropa Vieja at most Cuban restaurants so her expectations are a bit high. According to her, the dish was on par with the flavors she associates with this dish. I ordered the Lechon Asado which was delicious. The pork was moist and well seasoned and paired beautifully with the rice. Recently I've been trying to cut down on rice but it was hard to not pair it with each spoonful with the pork. They topped off the dish with bits of chicharon and of course a side of plantains. The yucca under the dish was slightly sweet and well prepared, but because of my low carb diet, I didn't indulge in this too much saving some of my carb calories for dessert. Overall the food is good and the price points are reasonable for the large portions. I would recommend this restaurant for those looking for a taste of Cuban cuisine. read more

Beware the "[o]bligatory valet service fee is $8 per vehicle," most nights. There is plenty of available parking and I would really prefer to park my own vehicle. This is an unnecessary tax on eating here. I am happy to pay for parking where it's difficult to find a spot, but that's not the situation here. I will be eating elsewhere. read more

I have lived in SGV for 60+ years. For the past 20+ years I have driven by this restaurant a few hundred times. I was curious but not enough to stop or even look at their website. I really didn't know if I even liked Cuban food. Today, my friend and I decided to have our holiday lunch there. Big risk, huh? OMG! I am forever changed! I don't like it - I loved it! The ambiance is modern sophisticated 1960's Havana style. The staff are all friendly and our server, Roger, was the most helpful and attentive in making my first visit an excellent experience. The food recommendations he made were spot on. We ordered Churrasco (Carne Asada) and Pollo Asado (Baked Garlic Chicken) plates. We shared the chicken and beef on our plates. Seriously, we enjoyed every bit of food that landed on our table. We also ordered the chicken & beef Empanadas with Chimichurri sauce. I could have drank that Chimmichurri sauce - it was so tasty! We ended our meal with an order of Flan. Sounds too simple but it was beyond our expectations. It was not jelly like or even too sweet. it was a mind blowing delicious! All serving portions were large which allowed sharing our food with each other. We both had zero complaints- and you know that's almost impossible nowadays! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. I will be back with my family and my lunch buddy again. It will be one of my top 5 restaurant spots for anyone who asks. The prices don't justify the quality and taste of the food. The menu has plenty of options to choose from their is no shortage of selection. But given that long list of options we were able to try a bit of it all but didn't find the memory building plate. I thought the service was ok but a bit rushed. Rubber, no taste, bone in ribeye. I threw it away. So, tonight, I decided to get the tomohawk dinner for two to-go. I feared it was a risk because of being to go. Nope!!!! Visited here a few days ago for a large family brunch. Sadly, this place left a lot to be desired. First off, you MUST valet your car ($12+ tip) even though the empty parking lot is only 20 feet away. The brunch buffet includes unlimited mimosas or orange juice but no coffee, which makes no sense. The quality of the food doesn't justify the hefty price tag ($50 per person). Service was fine, boarder line inattentive (had to keep reminding them of the coffees we ordered). They do have a trio playing boleros which is nice, probably the only enjoyable part of this place. Wouldn't recommend this place for brunch unless you're in the mood for mediocre food with a view of the 10 freeway lol. read more

I had driven by this restaurant almost everyday for years, so finally it was time to check it out. The staff were very friendly. We got our table by a window with city/freeway view (I think every table will have some sort of view). They immediately attended to our table and we ordered appetizers and food. We ordered Sea Bass and Parrillada De Mariscos and I personally liked the Parrillada De Mariscos with the little saffron rice on the side. Portions are very very generous and one order is enough for two adults. The quality of food is great but it is not a type of food to take home to eat tomorrow! I made a reservation here for my girlfriend's birthday. It's located right off the 10 freeway and Fairplex, sitting on the same hill as the Pomona Valley Mining Co. The parking lot is nice and spacious. They do have a valet service that is mandatory on Fridays and Saturdays at $6 per vehicle. Our reservation was for 5:30 pm. We arrived and were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated by our waiter. The view from our table was astounding, and really made for great ambience. We were given glasses of iced water, and then placed our drink orders. We got 2 Guava margaritas, which tasted great. You could definitely taste the tequila but it wasn't overbearing at all. For a starter, we ordered the Chicharron Con Yuca (pork belly). The sauce it came with on the plate was so delicious and really completed the dish. Our entrees consisted of the Sea Bass for my girl (a sea bass loin, mango-miso sauce, and mashed potatoes), the Mar Y Tierra for me (Angus tenderloin, lobster tail, and rice), and a side of mariquitas which are crispy plantain chips. The food was truly excellent as well as the staff. Our waiter constantly checked on us and made sure we were well taken care of. My girlfriend and I are definitely coming back here for future special occasions. read more
