I'm officially done with Coco Playa. I was such a big fan when they first opened, I even told my friends to go because of how good the Venice was. But it has seriously gone downhill, and the biggest issue is inconsistency. I get the Venice every single time because I loved it so much in the beginning that I didn't even want to try anything new. But now? Every time I go, it's a gamble. The taste changes constantly. They clearly don't use set measurements because even when I order the same size (a medium), it comes out totally different. Sometimes they go heavy on the cinnamon, sometimes it's barely there. The milk-to-coffee ratio is all over the place. I'm not trying to be a Karen--I'm just genuinely disappointed because they had so much potential. I'm attaching a side-by-side picture to show what I mean. One photo is the first Venice I ever got (perfection), and the other is the one I got today (5/8/25). They're clearly different colors, and yes--they tasted as different as they look. The one today was straight-up not good. And here's the part that really sent me: I took three sips before I got home, planning to add more milk since it tasted off. I separated the ice so it wouldn't water it down, and y'all--when I tell you the amount of ice they put in this thing?? Practically no coffee. For $8?? That's insane. I've given them so many chances, but at this point I'm tired of playing roulette every time I order. I shouldn't have to hope they make it right. Customer service was great let's start there the team seemed like they were still trying to get a hang in the process so it took A little bit longer then expected. I ordered a coco playa cookie a medium del mar and a medium turtle bay, but when I got to the window I got the Newport I don't know how the order got messed up but it did. Being that it took long to get the order I just took it, I wasn't a fan of the coffee my wife though her coffee was blended and that wasn't the case either. This little spot was very cute! I didn't see if you could walk up, but we drove through. There were only two other cars so we got through quickly. I tried the the iced Coronado (Irish crème breve) and it was delicious as it came. I usually get half sweet, but chose to try the original this time. My husband got an item off their "refresh" menu and it was also delicious and (unsurprisingly) refreshing! The drink was sparkling and the fruit flavors were very good! read more

I usually like this place but today was disappointing. I stopped by like an hour ago and even with the speaker working now, they take your order at the window so that they don't have to make more than one order at a time with most of the employees standing around talking while like 1-2 people make orders. Maybe if you guys weren't so busy talking, the girl at the drive through would have noticed she charged me for three drinks even though when I gave her my number, she was the one that told me I had a free coffee on my rewards. I was told my total was $14 but was charged $20. I got three orders of the same drink but somehow all three drinks were different colors and all different flavors. There isn't even a manager on duty to talk to. And on top of all that, my phone number wasn't actually entered somehow so now I can't even look at the itemized receipt on my account. Unless you did charge me $14 and tipped yourselves extra? Every part of my experience today was a mess. Finally made it to @cocoplaya to try their coffee and cookies. Well, I can truly say that the hype was justified. The latte was perfect in taste, texture and met my palate's expectations. I have to comment on the coffee cup lid, that made it easier to sip without any risk of dripping (compliment to the designer). I wanted to sample all, so I bought few but only settled to the warm and melting oat cookie which was over the top. Ambiance was filled with energy and welcoming by all. The coffee and cookie I bought here were incredibly delicious!! I was intrigued by the name like not just coffee, but also cookies?! I had to try it and was not expecting it to be this good, but now I wish there was one near me. I had their Sandals cold brew coffee half sweetened and it was spectacular. Blows all of the Starbucks cold brews out of the water. The chocolate chip cookie was thick and chunky, soft textured, and perfect chocolately goodness. It reminded me of the Levain Bakery cookies in NYC. I can't wait to try other coffees and cookies next time I'm in town. read more

Just heard about this new cookie company. I live in the North County of San Diego, but had to make the trip to Point Loma to check it out. Wow it was more than worth it. The cookies were incredible and the cold nitro brew was perfect on a hot Thursday. My favorite cookie is the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut and this was the best I have ever had. The other big cookie chains don't bake these on a consistent basis which has always frustrated me. No more. I know where to go. You have to try this place. I'm obsessed! I come here almost every week since the first time I came. I've never had dirty soda before so I didn't know how I would like it. I ordered one of the spring break specials and it was delicious. Another time I got the Mtn dew drink that was great too. On my last visit I got the coca-colada which was my least favorite. Coco Playa is my new go to coffee shop in San Diego. They have a unique menu which is sure to appease just about everyone. They offer a walk up window and drive thru. Service was pretty quick and very friendly. I had the Baja, which is a horchata latte. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I also had the bacon scone, which I cannot recommend enough. I don't know that Coco Playa is licensed as a therapists office as well as a coffee and cookie shop, but all the stress in my life was CURED there today. I was feeling down and needed a sweet treat so I drove over to the cute new Coco Playa in Point Loma and I had an awesome experience from start to finish. The entire place is fresh, clean and darling and you can drive through or drive up like an old school car hop (kids who don't understand this reference can get off my lawn lol). There was a wonderful young person taking orders and I didn't get her name but she did a great job talking through the menu with me and making suggestions. She's a great salesperson. The person at the window was also friendly and kind. My order was correct and delicious! My cold brew was perfect and how plastic can be aesthetically pleasing remains a mystery but the size, shape and feel of the cup is just fantastic. These cookies beat the place that starts with a C and needs an e on the end, AND are comparable to Levain (I said what I said) - I am telling you - from the gorgeous packaging to the look, size and density of the cookies PLUS the incredible flavor - sign me up to be a Coco Playa influencer now because I am a stan for life. If you're looking for a pick-me-up and aren't sure what you're craving or have people with different drink tastes, look no further than CoCo Playa! I think they are the only place I've found in San Diego that actively advertises the dirty soda, but they also have coffee, teas, etc so that no matter someone's preference they'll have a drink for them. The options are seemingly endless between the recommended drinks and the different flavors available to add to the base drink of your choice. I had a coco colada with Dr. Pepper subbed for the CocaCola and it was great without being overly sweet. We also tried the Del Mar which was perfect for people looking for a less sweet coffee option. I also tried the cosmic cookie and while I'm a sweets person with a huge sweet tooth, it was definitely a touch too sweet for me and I would need someone to share with in the future (highly recommend warming it up at home if you can wait that long!). Prices are typical for the area and the drinks honestly feel a little bigger than comparable sizes from other places. I love this place! I have an obsession with coffee and I come here everyday and get the same thing. An Iced Vanilla Latte with Oatmilk and STRAWBERRY SOFT TOP is my go to and it's a game changer!! The cookies are also delicious! We usually get the Blue Playa, Cookies and Cream and also the Nutella is really good too. The staff is super friendly and my favs are Josh and Tianna. Got the Del Mar frozen, it's amazing but it's very sweet and doesn't have much of a coffee flavor. The chocolate chip cookie has milk chocolate and dark chocolate chips in it and it comes hot and with malty chocolate and crispy edges. If that's just a Company standard I think it's funny that I can't get my cookie heated up for me if it's possible. Nice and fast for drive thru which is primarily it's approach. The star short of 5 is because of the cookie. If you know, then you know. That and also there should be an overhead awning over the seating to protect patrons from the sun at least rather than wood beams doing no shade protection whatsoever.
