Drove by today to get my bday drink from Coco Playa. Ended up having a fun conversation with Haley about Love Island (they had some Love Island inspired tip cups that were very funny). Not only was Haley a pleasure to just talk to, she also made me feel very special and wrote a nice message on my lid. Thank you for adding a highlight to my bday!

I stopped over here for a lil Saturday morning dose of coffee and sweets, and I actually quite liked my drink. I don't remember what it was called but it had macadamia in it. Now, the drink didn't taste like what I ordered, but whatever I got was really good! The Reese's cookie that I got to accompany my coffee, though? Wayyyyy tooooo sweet. (I didn't know that was a thing!) it's not bad tasting, but just very very sweet for my liking. I'll definitely come back for the coffee, but maybe l get a different cookie next time.

Easily, THE BEST chocalate chip cookie in San Diego! It was THICK, CHEWY AND SOFT. I loved it! There is a drive-thru and a walk-up window. This joint has a local, casual, retro vibe which I loved. There are tables on site if you decide to eat there. The set up looks more like a car wash but really good quality cookies. I would love to try their drinks next time.

I've been wanting to try this place for so long and am so glad we finally got to stop by! It's drive thru only so there's no hassle of needing to get out of your car anymore to order; however, you can opt to place your order online and pick up your goodies from their window in front too. Some things to keep in mind from what we've discovered: (1) they don't have any decaf options if you're getting coffee, so make sure you're ready to get caffeinated when you come here; (2) their sizes for iced coffee are gigantic--a large drink is 32oz! What we tried: Orange Blossom Mocha (from spring menu) - 3.5/5 Strawberry Sweetheart Matcha (from secret menu) - 3/5 Turtle Bay - 4/5 One & Only - 4/5 Overall, I enjoyed their cold brew options way more than the other two we got. We chose to have them neat rather than nitro, and I loved how bold that coffee flavor was on both drinks. They weren't too sweet either! The Orange Blossom Mocha was more heavily on the mocha side, which was fine, but I think I was expecting more of the orange flavor infused into the drink rather than just being on the soft top, while the Strawberry Sweetheart Matcha was just too light on the matcha flavor for me. Next time we visit, we're definitely trying their dirty sodas!

Wanted a quick drink and we were in the area so we decided to stop by. We ordered a Beach, Please which is a Dr. Pepper with vanilla crème and cherry, but we got it with diet Dr. Pepper instead. The walk-up window was confusing because there were two sides, but no one was there to help us. We had to go around and that's when one of the workers saw us to help take our order. We got our drink very quick and enjoyed it in the outdoor seating. Overall the drink was solid, but I wouldn't go out of my way to have it.

The best coffee! I ordered the Newport and danish cheese, it's delicious. This might be my new favorite coffee shop from now on. Service is fast and it's a cute coffee shop. I've heard this is their one and only location in Point Loma (unsure).

My husband and I have had our eye on this place for about a year but every time we were in the area it was either closed or we were too full from dinner nearby to fit anything sweet. I'm glad we tried it! We got a box of 4 cookies with the chocolate chip, Dubai chocolate, blue playa, and the cookies and cream. Dubai chocolate is all the craze rn but it was our least favorite. The best was the blue playa with the cookies and cream coming in at a close second. The chocolate chip was excellent too. These are waaaay better than the cookies at Crumbl. They were rich, buttery, and chewy and crispy in all the right spots. We also got the Beach, Please dirty soda, which was good, but I've had better. We like the dirty sodas at Homestyle Hawaiian better. Prices are a little steep, but what place isn't these days?

The Big Gorger ..

Hey guys, The Big Gorger here, I have been coming to Coco Playa for awhile now and can I just say, absolutely amazing place. Influenced by the SLOMW (Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives) to come and try since we don't have a Swig in town but who needs that when we got Coco Playa. The workers are always so nice and helpful. I personally get the "Layla" drink which is Mountain Dew, mixed with coconut cream, mango puree, and strawberry puree. I sub out Mt Dew for Sprite though. They have DELICIOUS pretzel bites and cookies. Had two new cookies such as the Ube and Celebration Cake as you can see in the pictures. Both amazing as well. Overall, one of my favorite places to go after a nice tan at the beach / pool. Shoutout to Coco Playa for being the best. Best, The Big Gorger

What's not to love about coffee and cookies? The concept is great. I've driven by here so many times and I'm glad to have finally tried it. It's drive-through only and they've got a large coffee menu. I didn't try any of the coffees because it was kind of late in the day, but they were reasonably priced and there were a lot of options. I had a little bit of sticker shock initially when I bought the cookies. I got four and it was $20. But then the cookies were handed to me in this gigantic box that was quite heavy. I opened it up and there were four gorgeous cookies inside. I didn't get to try the Biscoff cookie dough because it was out that day, but we got a chocolate chip, a cookies and cream, a Dubai chocolate and a peppermint bark. All four were super tasty but I'm not kidding when I say it took three days for us to eat them. They held up well, just got to the last cookie today and it still tasted fresh.

This place is visually appealing and offers a great variety of drinks, from coffee to fruity energy options. Since it was my first time visiting, I wasn't sure what to order, but the customer service was excellent. The staff member was very helpful and took the time to explain a few drink options. I decided to try the Del Mar, which is made with espresso shots and brown sugar. Unfortunately, the coffee had a fruity flavor that didn't pair well with the brown sugar--it just wasn't my favorite. For a cookie and a large drink, the total came out to $15

On the way out of OB I wanted to get something caffeinated but fun. This is what Coco Playa is about. They have dirty sodas so I tried my first one being the Beach Please. Its a unique drink. If you ever had a New York Egg Cream or kind of like a Root Beer Float without all the ice cream its like that. Very tasty and creamy. Very pleasant. I also opted for a La Jolla or Venice which was very very good. This wasnt Starbucks so the coffee to creamer and mix ratio was a lot better as it was balanced for more coffee. The SO had the Matcha Latte. Which was claimed the best they ever had. Lots of caramel drizzle on this. But still wasnt overly sweet. I also got a cookie. I had to know what does a $5 cookie taste like? Well is it worth it? I got the oddest one the Blue Playa. Theres a lot going on in this cookie. Lots of textures. Its not too sweet and the flavors and cookieness is packed. Was it a $5 cookie? I do not think so. It was scrumptious. I think it should be around the $3.50-$4.25 range. I didnt feel robbed after.

I stopped in here for an iced coffee and with a splash of milk. They didn't have one on the menu except their signature flavors with more sugar and flavors that I need or want, so I settled for an iced Americano. The iced Americano was decent, but definitely watered down given the manner the iced coffee was made. As a result, that robust coffee flavor was quite limited. Initially, they also put a limited amount of milk in the coffee, so I had to ask for more. The young lady at the window was friendly. There's no inside seating but there's some on the outside. This place seems to run mostly off their drive thru.

So we got there and we ordered cookies and then we were ordering and they were saying oh we're out of this and we're out of that and then for some reason, the machine wasn't taking an order so somebody else came take an order and we asked for the ones they said they didn't have and they did have them the cookies were OK the drinks we had were not that great just super sweet. I don't remember what we ordered. I would not recommend this spot. The cashiers weren't that great also read more

Cute local drive through ! I got a sandals cold brew, a Pom beach puncher green tea and a blue playa cookie. I loved the cold brew ! I feel like the refresher was lacking a little flavor. If you're looking for a pick-me-up and aren't sure what you're craving or have people with different drink tastes, look no further than CoCo Playa! I think they are the only place I've found in San Diego that actively advertises the dirty soda, but they also have coffee, teas, etc so that no matter someone's preference they'll have a drink for them. The options are seemingly endless between the recommended drinks and the different flavors available to add to the base drink of your choice. I had a coco colada with Dr. Pepper subbed for the CocaCola and it was great without being overly sweet. We also tried the Del Mar which was perfect for people looking for a less sweet coffee option. I also tried the cosmic cookie and while I'm a sweets person with a huge sweet tooth, it was definitely a touch too sweet for me and I would need someone to share with in the future (highly recommend warming it up at home if you can wait that long!). Prices are typical for the area and the drinks honestly feel a little bigger than comparable sizes from other places. Will definitely be back to try another of their seemingly endless options! read more

It's really a no for me at this point. Went for the first time a couple weeks ago and got one coffee and one cookie. I hated the coffee but you know what my fault for ordering something so sweet. Chocolate chip cookie was good. I wanted to order a bunch but they said they were having problems getting cookies and that it would be a few weeks longer. I went today since they had some cookies in stock. I asked for cookies and cream, chocolate chip, blue plays, & cosmic. $20 mind you. And truly I just really was so excited for cookies and cream. Opened the box at work and there is no effing cookies and cream, they gave me I think macadamia which is the only ONE I didn't order. Why? Because I have a nut allergy. LOLLLLL So now this entire box is trash. $20 down the drain in today's economy is not cool. So upset. read more

We went through the drive through trying to use the sign up reward for a free drink. When we asked the guy working the drive through he said we redeem it after we paid. We were charged and then he explained we just have to come back to use the rewards next time. The drinks themselves were great! Highly recommend the peachy keen! Overall a good experience but I left a bit shocked after paying $12 dollars for 2 drinks when I had prepared to get one free. read more

Got the Del Mar frozen, it's amazing but it's very sweet and doesn't have much of a coffee flavor. The chocolate chip cookie has milk chocolate and dark chocolate chips in it and it comes hot and with malty chocolate and crispy edges. The walk up service was great but we went on a weekend and there was a very long line for the drive through. There's also outdoor seating. read more

Tldr: FAST SERVICE AND DRIVE THRU! DO NOT COME HERE ONLY IF YOU'RE TRYING TO WORK INSIDE OUT OF THE SUNS WAY. GOOD COFFEE AND BEVERAGES. SNACKS ARE OK, COULD BE A BIT MORE ORIGINAL. Nice Quaint little location with all outdoor seating only so if you're trying to work comfortably inside with your laptop out of the sun, you're better off staying in your car. But that's not to diminish the quality of the drinks which are delicious but I had to ask to have my extra hot dirty matcha heated up because I . The Cookies n Creme Cookie is just a bunch of Oreos that have been mashed up and baked into another cookie batter which isn't too original but it was ok. The ladies inside were all sweet and attentive, however when I asked if I could have my cookie heated up, they asked the male shift lead if they could and she came back with a saddened approach after he said NO. If that's just a Company standard I think it's funny that I can't get my cookie heated up for me if it's possible. Nice and fast for drive thru which is primarily it's approach. The star short of 5 is because of the cookie. If you know, then you know. That and also there should be an overhead awning over the seating to protect patrons from the sun at least rather than wood beams doing no shade protection whatsoever. Service was okay, ordered a Coco Crush.. was given a coco colada had to ask for my correct drink. The coco crush, was not it to say the least... it tastes like straight up sparkling soda, the lack of flavor or creaminess from the coconut.. I guess one must ask for extra flavoring for it to taste like it supposed to be. Don't think I'll be stopping here. read more

After going to Swig in Salt Lake City, we had high hopes for a local dirty soda spot. What a disappointment. Nothing was fresh. All flavors are Torani syrup and coffee mate creamer. They were out of tons of stuff and they use unwrapped straws and handed me the straw by grabbing it with their hands - disgusting! Also we're out of every single cookie but the two basics. And the drive thru line took forever and the people in the little hut were confused about our order and were out of the base and had us select an alternate. Will never go back. Awesome new coffee drive-thru! Reminds me of Dutch Bros. Really cute vibe and the workers were friendly! The Cold Brew with Cold Foam was amazing. Made me want to try their other cold foam flavors. Cool new place! Soda shops are the cool new thing so it's nice to have one in SD. Had a good first experience, but you can certainly tell they are new as the staff is young and still figuring it all out--no problem at all. I would love if they had suggestions for dairy free alternatives to their creamer? I guess I could also ask for coconut milk vs their crème, but maybe some labeling to avoid confusion? Just since most dirty sodas the coconut crème (in my experience) has been dairy free. Lastly, and maybe this is a me thing, but I sooooo wish they served Coke products instead of Pepsi. I'd come back way more if they had Diet Coke or Coke Zero! As for my drink though I tried the Ken with Pepsi zero and it was really good! read more

Stopped by the this morning. Menu looked great. A lot of sweet treats and drinks. Got me a large hot Americano and an oatmeal cookie. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. My coffee was hot and very good. Coffee beans are good here smooth no burnt taste. Oatmeal cookie was so good. Great place. Can't wait to try more. read more

When we get our car washed at Rosecrans Car wash we usually walk over to Starbucks for coffee. We've been watching this new place 'Coco Playa' getting built. It was a Mexican food place. Today it's open, so instead of Starbucks - we went to Coco Playa! I got a vanilla latte and a white chocolate macadamia cookie. The latte was SOOO foamy and creamy! So good! The cookie was soft and delicious. The service was friendly and sorry Starbucks- there's a new place in town with better coffee! read more

Came to coco playa with some friends and got the dirty sodas and cookies. Honestly, the drinks were underwhelming and look nothing like the pictures advertised. I think that's what we were looking forward to the most . We tried Pink Flamingo, Dew'd where's my car, Coco-colada,Peachy keen and Beach please and we agreed Pink Flamingo was the only one we fully enjoyed. The sodas all tasted flat with no fizz. The cookie we tried was the BLUE PLAYA , and it was tasty. Overall , the aesthetic and concept of the place is nice but as far as dirty sodas go : wasn't that great. Place looks cute. I pull up to the drive through, woman says...over the intercom: "pull up to the window to order"......Okkkkkkay, so I do. I order a Large Black & White (sounds good). It was $5.99 on the menu. She rings me up for $7.89 or something. I was frustrated, trying to do the math in my head. Right then, she sees me pulling out a $10 bill. "No cash" she says to me. My friends and I visited for the first time last week and we had such a enjoyable experience. We weren't really sure what to order so we asked for recommendations from the worker Issac and he was so helpful and patient with us. Dude! This is gonna be my new go to coffee & refresher spot! If you're looking for a Dutch Bros alternative it's definitely here! They have all flavors of refreshers that you can add redbull to if you'd like!! And their coffee was sooo good! Best cold foam ever. The service was A1, super friendly in the drive thru taking my order and at the window. The cups were also super sturdy, could be reused! And the whole vibe was super cool! Came to try out the dirty soda after waiting in line was told the soda machine had just broke. The cookies are okay but nothing great especially for paying almost $5 per cookie. The coffee is not the best either Starbucks down the block is better. You also have to deal with a bunch of teenyboppers who are loud and obnoxious rehearsing TikTok dances while waiting in line. I would definitely recommend skipping this spot when exploring San Diego. read more

Live in the area and this place USE TO BE amazing, when it first opened. Drinks are inconsistent and never taste the same each time. Also the amount of ice they put is criminal. I seriously live 5 minutes away and with the ice they put i finish my drink before i even get home. Maybe I should just start asking for light ice? Services is super nice, but i want my drink to taste the same each time. i will stick with starbucks down the street. read more

They have an amazing menu of drinks, pastries and also breakfast items. Placing an order was very easy and the staff was very kind. Please note that if you order breakfast items, you need to pick them up at a different area of the nursery. For my first time I went with an iced coffee and ordered their cheese danish. The coffee was delicious and exactly what I needed after my flight to San Diego. The cheese danish was probably one of the best I've ever had, and I am still dreaming about it. The place has cute vibes and plenty of tables to hang out or work remotely. They also have a nice selection of unique items that I think make perfect gifts. Overall, this was such a unique find, and I can't wait to come back during my next trip to San Diego!

First and foremost, I am a gin lover (I'm a rare diamond in the rough). I also got it because I love drinking calamansi juice so the two will pair well for my taste. Drink was good but not strong at all. I'd get it again if I need something to sip on while slamming the mahjong tiles down.

Not officially open yet, but they were offering free drinks last week as part of their staff training--a surprisingly generous gesture in California! This drive thru spot is where it's at. Their staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. While their menu wasn't even up they walked us through their favorites and gave us amazing suggestions. The selection was delightful: cookies, coffee, refreshers, dirty soda, and their flavored signature cold brews with soft top. Yum. "The Venice" quickly became my favorite coffee option, though all their signature drinks are excellent. It's a chocolate macadamia shaken espresso with cinnamon. They also serve "refresher" drinks with a variety of bases. I tried "Peachy Keen," which perfectly blends strawberry, peach, and coconut cream. I was unfamiliar with "dirty soda" before visiting, but now I'm hooked on their "Beach, Please." Any drink with cream is a treat here. I recently visited Coco Playa in San Diego for the first time, and it definitely won't be my last! I tried all six cookies they had available, along with a hot matcha latte and a Del Mar iced. Although the Del Mar is typically served frozen, the staff kindly offered to customize it exactly how I wanted. Dominic, in particular, was incredibly friendly and patient, making the experience even better. Every cookie was fresh and flavorful, and the drinks were perfectly made. I stopped by Coco Playa this morning and it did not disappoint! I was craving something with Red Bull, and they recommended the Johnny Tsunami with Red Bull and coconut milk--wow, it was so refreshing and tasty. Definitely something different you don't find everywhere. I also tried their chocolate chip, and it was delicious--fresh and full of flavor. I don't drink coffee so I tried the Peachy Keen and Dew'd Wheres My Car and my friend got the Beach Please Dirty Soda. Got one cookie too. SO SO SO GOOD!!!!!! First things first, the service was amazing. Everyone was so smiley and enjoyable, you can tell that they have great management. The drinks were delicious and the cookie was AMAZING! Always fun and enjoyable experience. Staff is very nice, and it's the perfect pick me up in the morning or afternoon. Don't sleep on their cookies, they are fantastic. Ask for them to be warmed up and they melt in your mouth. read more
