From the first moment I stepped in I kept saying wow. The interior of this restaurant is so nice and chic. The various tones of muted pink goes so well together it adds a nice elegant feminine like touch without being too overbearing. We arrived around 8 PM on a Tuesday night so there were very limited people and were seated quickly. I love the big comfy sofa they make for a very romantic evening. This place is so cute. It's a place you take friends or a girl's birthday or a very nice romantic evening for pictures. We began with an espresso martini for me and a whiskey sour for my husband. They were delicious. I decided on a filet but unfortunately my expectations were a bit too high. I am use to steakhouses that can Pittsburgh style a steak. After ordering the waiter did come back to let me know they wouldn't be able to that. When my filet arrived it was well done and hard to cut or chew lol. I wish I would've ordered something else. Happy Galentines Dayyy! So this place was interesting. "French inspired" food with an upscale vibe. Very aesthetically pleasing, and they hit it out of the park with the decor. Let's get into the food... Some friends ordered the deviled eggs which were fishy, steak dishes in which the topping options weren't plentiful i.e butters, sauces etc. When we asked we were told "this isn't a steakhouse". Ummm ok, well it's on the menu, but ok whatever. Asked for certain temperatures, wasn't accommodated. Idk what that side of potato situation was, but you can just skip all of that. Ended up just ordering a crab and spinach dip dish, which was basically an appetizer, but it was decent. Just needed some...seasoning. So needless to say, they didn't really eat anything. I ordered a the crab omelet and pancakes, which was surprisingly the best thing on the menu. They had ton of jumbo lump crab and I was impressed, since most restaurants fall short here. Service was ok, since guy, but I had to countlessly ask for a napkin when we first got there, a glass for my mimosa and the actual mimosa itself. Did they need help today? I feel like this place missed a lot of marks. And I guess since we wasn't feeling it, we got offered some random dessert they also could've kept. Do not come here on a Saturday unless you have absolutely nothing to do for the rest of the day. The staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. Our drink order took over 30 minutes, and we eventually had to ask another waiter for help. Shout-out to Roger, though--he really saved the experience. He was attentive, helpful, and genuinely cared. Our actual server was nice, I guess, but seemed new and a bit lost. Food-wise, this visit was a miss. The crab au gratin was very bland, which was disappointing. The croissants, however, were amazing--easily the best thing we had. The sea bass I ordered never came, and I didn't want to wait even longer for another entrée. To their credit, the manager stepped in and comped us a lobster pasta, which was a solid recovery move. Overall, between the long waits and kitchen issues, it wasn't a great experience--but good management and Roger's service kept it from being a total loss. Came for a business lunch. Gregory suggested the prix fixe lunch menu of shrimp/salmon and took great care of us.

We made a large group dinner reservation to celebrate a birthday, and overall, the food was delicious and the ambience was perfect for the occasion. This was actually our second time dining here, and our positive experience the first time was the main reason we chose to return. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by one interaction with a staff member. There was another birthday celebration taking place in our area, and after they finished, we sang briefly to celebrate their birthday as well. A staff member, who was the person opening and closing the door, gestured for us to be quiet and told us that our group was being too loud. While we understand the importance of being considerate of other guests, we did not appreciate the way the situation was handled. We were celebrating a birthday and simply joining in a brief, cheerful moment with another group. The staff member's manner left us feeling unwelcome and took away from what had otherwise been a wonderful evening. It is disappointing because we genuinely enjoyed this restaurant enough to return for a second visit. After this experience, however, we will have to think twice before returning. We hope management will take this feedback into consideration, as the way guests are treated can have just as much impact as the quality of the food and atmosphere. read more

Thors was my first time trying lamb bacon and it was fantastic! I did discover on this visit there no comp bread. All three of My eggs came out poached, when I requested them to be only one poached and the other over medium plus The correction happened but I wasn't clear if it was going to an additional charge (given previous experience and lack of communicated details) I wasn't clear sure to send two back. It was the lack of attentiveness on this visit versus the last visit. I ordered a OJ, (not listed in menu) price is $5 no refills. I didn't get a refill on my water either. And it was less busy than my last visit. And I had the same waiter as before. Which he is really nice. I still look forward to bringing my mom here to visit for her celebration year! This was our first time to visit and it did not disappoint. We are going to France next year and are trying all of the French restaurants, Cocody is my favorite so far. The restaurant is stunning, the food is beautiful and delicious. The wine list is amazing, and Mario's knowledge of wine was very helpful. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Lionel, he recommended the lamb, which we were hesitant about, but it was delicious and the pistachio ice cream I could eat every night! Stopped in for happy hour with the girls. The restaurant is beautiful from the patio , to the bar and dining area. We had a couple cocktails and some light bites. We've had two great weekday experiences at Cocody, which makes this review a little bittersweet. On our lunch visit, everything hit the mark. I had the salmon tartine, Moi ordered the prime cheeseburger, and Brandon had the crab salad sandwich--all excellent. The ambiance is beautiful and very well thought out, and the service during lunch was top-tier. The chef even came to our table, which was a really nice touch. If you want great service, lunch during the week is the move. Unfortunately, Saturday brunch was a completely different story. Our waitress disappeared shortly after we sat down. We had to flag down another staff member just to order drinks and appetizers. Thankfully, Roger saved the day. He's actually the bartender but stepped in to help on the floor, and he was attentive, professional, and genuinely helpful when things were falling apart. The biggest issue: Brandon ordered the Chilean seabass and was instead served lobster pasta. By the time it was sorted out, I had already eaten, and he waited over 30 minutes for his correct dish--which never arrived. He eventually canceled the seabass altogether. Not exactly the brunch experience you hope for. It's disappointing because Cocody clearly can get it right--we've seen it firsthand during weekday visits. But brunch service needs serious improvement. That said, we'll be back--sitting at the bar with Roger, and only on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. He definitely earned our loyalty. read more

I was invited to a birthday dinner here. It was my First time in this area. We were able to get parking in the parking right by the restaurant. As we entered we were pleasantly stunned with the beautiful decor. It's amazingly fancy and upscale, from the chandeliers and the assorted wines on the shelves to the wall lighting fixtures, real fancy! Our table was to the side with another group, very private. I can't tell you I remembered our servers because they didn't engage much with us other than taking the orders quickly and leaving. The drinks were amazing and the food was delicious. I had an allergy reaction to something that was on the cheese platter but maybe it was my fault because I didn't tell them I was allergic to honey even though we weren't asked, but hey! Got my meds and I enjoyed the night. There's also a cute area upstairs by the restroom to take pics. It's small and at the time it was only there or the stairs leading up were the only photo ops we saw. Overall a good evening. NB: when we got our invites we were told for a group reservation you're not allowed to pay separately. So we all had to zelle the person who booked and she was able to pay for the table. Came here for a friend's bday dinner. There was a group of 7 of us. The stairs are so pretty in here but they do not allow you to take photos there. Kind of sad about this! I ordered the lobster pasta and it was really good! Great portions! The sauce had amazing flavor and the presentation was really nice. Overall a pricey restaurant, would come back for a nice occasion! The installations on the ceiling were beautiful. Ambiance would be great for a girls night out, or date night. Parking is easy in the shopping center right in front. So, walking in, the decor is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, in recent months, you are not allowed to take pictures, so that does put a damper considering how pretty it is. Parking is a bit tricky as you will have to pay for parking no matter where you park but it's worth it once you walk in and are greeted by luxurious boutique editorial dinning decor. The bar is a lit marble with a very French inspired layout. A U shape allowing maximum efficiency for the bar tenders. We were seated to the outside patio which was neatly decorated. They were doing a few tastings of tequila, vodka, gin and mezcal. We ordered almost every dish on the happy hour menu. My favorite being the shrimp bites, a wonderful yet slightly spicy curried sauced shrimp. Very delightful. I dined here during HRW which was a while ago, but I'l do my best to jog down memory lane. We had a company dinner here and managed to book the private back room with a full view of the kitchen. Immediately, the vibes were off the charts!! The restaurant is beautiful, very pleasing to the eye. Even on a Monday, it was lively, and upbeat. I would say that it was almost too loud with all of the chatter going on inside, but once we made it to our room, and our server closed the glass doors... silence. The room was practically sound-proof which I thought was amazing. It certainly allowed us to enjoy our night with some privacy. It was also quite novel to be able to look over and see the flow of the back of the house. I no longer recall the individual dishes we had, but I do recalled that everything I ate, I loved. Nothing disspointed. Chef Lionel Debon would occasionally step out of the kitchen to check on us, see how we were liking the food, and describe to us the journey of a dish from scratch to finished product. He also invited us to step into the kitchen to get a closer look at the inner working of the kitchen. Last but not least, the service was impeccable. The gentleman taking care of us throughout the enight did so, so eloquently. He handled service with great care and organization, and held great conversation as well. 10/10. Thank you for the response. In honor of sharing an honest review, I would like to clarify that I was asked not to take pictures on the staircase for caution and to avoid any accidents. I politely asked if I can take picture in front of the stairs and the assistant manager said yes, as long as I was not on the staircase. As he walked away I attempted to capture a picture in front of the staircase and that's when another manager approached us abruptly and asked us to leave while escorting us out of the establishment. I was not told three times, and I was in shock at what occurred after I had been told the adjustment was appropriate. Orange juice and espresso martini took over 20 minutes to get out. We received our soup and a couple of other things BEFORE that came out. We had to flag down our server a couple times for water and asked for our drinks a couple of times, too. That's a pet peeve for me. I don't want to have to guess and find our server. "Sorry, our bar is backed up." Ok, but nobody is even sitting at the bar. Get staffed up. It takes no time to bring orange juice out... have you had a toddler who's thirsty and upset because they don't have their juice? It's not fun. I'm here to enjoy myself. People made us food and you're saying, "yeah sorry, can't pour juice." It takes SECONDS to pour orange juice and I'm not trying to hear excuses like that. Just pour the juice! The other thing that I didn't like, and maybe this is just me, is when the food comes out randomly. An entree shouldn't come out before a starter. By the time my friends received their food, I was completely done eating. I typically would wait until everyone gets their food, but case in point, no one knew when we'd get anything. The fact that it took so long to get everything, having to flag down our server multiple times, not getting drinks we ordered ordered in the beginning until after we received our food... all of this makes me believe that they forgot, OR are severely understaffed. Chef is enthusiastic, seems happy with his suppliers, kitchen set up (no flames, all induction) from Cannes, down the road from where we spent some formative years. I do not recommend this place. On their website and open table, the attire description says "Business Casual". In my opinion and with experience that can mean anything from jeans and a polo to casual slacks and a blouse. My boyfriend and I didn't even make it through the front doors of the restaurant before being told our tire was not acceptable. I was in slacks , Hermes sandals and a blouse, and he was in khaki slacks and a polo. It was 730 on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was empty and it is very telling as to why. Amazing brunch experience. The dining room is beautiful, bright, and airy. The details are pretty and delicate, making it perfect for a romantic date night, girls night out, or brunch. The parking lot is not big and the valet service is $10. There is parking on the side street and in the back of the building. This is a beautifully decorated restaurant. I came with my girlfriends to try Houston Restaurant Weeks. We all ordered off the HRW menu. For starter I had the beet and goat cheese salad. The beets were nicely thin sliced and the presentation was fancy. I loved this appetizer. The cheese and the yellow purée (not sure what it was) all complimented each other. Even the tossed greens in the side was good. Next, for my entree, I ordered the short rib ravioli. Hands down, the best short rib ravioli I have ever had! The sauce was delicious and I liked the mushrooms in the dish. I was happy. For my last course I chose the hazelnut chocolate pastry. It was similar to a chocolate mouse with a crunchy cookie type crust. It was nicely presented. I wanted more of the caramel sauce in that dish. The food was great! In regards to service, I would say it is really slow and the restaurant was not at max capacity. It took us at least 40 min to get our drinks and to start taking dinner orders. The waiter said he was waiting for everyone to receive their drinks before he came to ask us what we wanted to order. That is unnecessary. Firstly, then menu sounds amazing and something I would love.... BUT, the service is awful. We ordered appetizers and waited just over 45 minutes and they still hadn't come out. The entire restaurant was pretty empty too, so this wasn't an issue of "too busy". We asked for a wine list and 20 minutes later still haven't ordered wine or had anyone come to check on us. For you non-River Oaks bourgeoisie, park across the street in the garage by Barnes & Noble and walk over. It's free-99. For context, my wife and I dined here for our 6th wedding anniversary. We cited in our reservation we would like a seat away from the foot traffic. Instead, we were seated in a cramped half booth facing another couple. We sat side-shoulder to side-shoulder, weird set up. We made it work because we're troopers. Started off with the New Old Fashioned and a glass of the GL Pinot Grigio Kettemeir Alto Adige aka cheap Pinot Grigio. We're not fancy like that. The New Old Fashioned was definitely worth it. Very strong. The presentation with the smoke was a nice touch. For appetizers, we tried the Lolly's Duck Breast which in simplest terms are one-biters served on a toothpick. They were devoured. Simply delicious, but the orange flavor was a bit overpowering. Next up were the Crispy Cocody Potatoes. It's like a cubed shaped elevated French fry. Worth the try, served with ketchup. Lastly, the Scallops. They were seared perfectly and accompanied by an avocado style crème that was delicious, but my only issue was the scallops were the size of a quarter. You can down it in one bite! For entrees we got the Brochette Prawns ($27) which were served with stuffed ravioli, Bok Choy and a hoisin based sauce. The prawns were flavorful and the ravioli was a nice complement, but nothing amazing. We also tried the Red Snapper ($41) which my wife claimed was delicious. It was served with a curry sauce that was nice and aromatic. Only issues with the entrees was the serving size compared to the price. Aside from that, very tasty. Lastly, we finished dinner with dessert, the Craquelin Eclair. The eclair itself was a bit stale. There was no crispiness or flakiness. The cream was solid but I detected no bourbon as per the description, so the dessert did not meet expectations. Of course we had to try the Espresso Martini which was equally strong to espresso-y. Our waitress asked in the beginning of our dinner what we were celebrating and aside from congratulating us, she or the staff didn't do anything that night to make our dinner experience memorable. Aside from providing good service, which is expected from this upscale establishment, the making you feel special factor was not there. We doubt we'll be back due to the reasons described and frankly, I was still hungry at the end of the meal! If I spend upwards of $200 dining in, I better have leftovers or waddle out of my seat.
