Cocohodo. The land of misspelled Engrish decorations on the side of the walls: "get delicious here" "very health good." However, the hodogwaja here's are amazing. Basically it's like a walnut redbean cookie that brings me back to my childhood in Korea. They make it hot and fresh and the prices are pretty good. Also, if you want to try a couple, they're always willing to give out samples. Come here if you are a middle aged Korean woman trying to catch up with her friends. Cocohodo serves up these soft bite sized snacks that are individually wrapped in tissue paper. The breading is soft, light, and moist. The red bean filling is deliciously smooth with a walnut center to add a bit of texture and crunch. Best when it is served freshly made and warm. I took some to-go, but it just wasn't as good as when I ate it fresh. Other than these little asian delights, this place serves up some pretty tasty drinks, too. Super cute cafe! My bf and I came here to study since Starbucks was packed and there weren't any empty tables. Just like other reviews said, it really does look like those coffee shops in Korean dramas! :) We got a small order of the walnut pastries and a green tea latte. The walnut pastries are pretty small and individually wrapped. They're filled with loots of red bean! Tasted pretty yummy and fresh :) The green tea latte was good too and had a strong matcha flavor. Don't know if I would get it again but it was cool to try it. The cafe is super clean and there's a good amount of seating, maybe 10-15 tables? They have wifi and didn't mind me and my bf working there for a few hours :D Definitely will come back! read more

I was looking for a place to meetup for coffee with a friend and when I saw this place with red bean walnut pastries, I was very curious since I really enjoy red bean desserts. My friend and I both got the Combo A which is four walnut pastries and a cup of coffee which came out to about 4$. I thought this was a pretty fair price. The coffee and the pastries came out immediately and the best part was that the pastries were warm! They are also individually wrapped which is a pretty cute touch. The pastries themselves were a great snack for a kinda gloomy day. They were warm and not overly sweet and really paired well with coffee. My friend who really has a taste for coffee also mentioned that the coffee was really good and very smooth. Overall I was very impressed and would definitely go back for the coffee or the pastries or both. I might even be adventurous and try the grain latte! read more

Worth a try and will probably be back. Bought the 15 piece medium bag for $5.75 and had 3 of them right there. They are bite sized so I inhaled them pretty quickly. Brought back the rest for a family gathering and they were well received. Just make sure to reheat them before serving. I left it a bit too longer in the toaster oven and they got slightly burnt so be careful. Knocking off one star because the person calling out my order only said the order number in Korean and I had know idea it was my number. They should make sure to call out the orders in both Korean and English as I'm sure the company would like more than just Korean speaking customers stopping by. read more

Nice, sleek, new look. I got the waffle pastry but it really was just mediocre. There's a thin layer of flour around a clump of red bean paste and a walnut or so. The outside has walnut ruffle prints so the entire ball looks like a walnut. It's not overly sweet which is great, and although I've never had anything like it, I don't find it particularly mind-blowing or amazing. It's fairly priced though I think; I got the smallest bag with 9 pieces, and it was $4.75 (including tax). Can't buy it in smaller quantities than that. Each piece is wrapped individually with styrofoamy paper inside the bag! Maybe I'll come try the drinks next time if I ever do end up coming here again; it is quite a comfortable place to chill and chat. Their menu consists mostly of coffee though, and as I don't drink coffee, maybe this just isn't the place for me. We'll see! read more

Visiting from outta state..my relative brought me here..says the walnut pastry here is very good..she was right! Fresh n hot which is best but next day was still good too..walnut n sweet red bean paste in a bread type pastry shaped like a whole walnut..u can choose from 9 piece bag up to an 84 piece box! Great with coffee or tea..which they also serve..tables n chairs in a clean, pretty, roomy place..i came back before i had to fly back home n bought several gift boxes n a 9 piece bag to munch on the plane ride home..friendly service..i will be back! read more

Wooo, they've only been open for 2 months?! I wouldn't have guessed that. My friend recommended we check this place out after we left dinner feeling like we could use a snack. I had no idea what is what, until I arrived and was served the wonderful walnut pastry snack. Very new and clean inside with a mainly older social crowd the night we came in here. A medium bag is almost $6, and they are fresh. Once I saw what they were, I'm pretty sure I've seen them before and people running around with these bags. I also got a Grain Latte w/ soy milk which has no caffeine. My friend got a green tea latte, for some reason they missed making my drink. I thought someone else might have picked it up by mistake since I wasn't paying attention to the orders being called. Had to walk up and ask them to make another one. The drink came out really well balanced, was not too sweet and I didn't even ask them to lower the sweetness. I suppose I could deduct a star for that. It's good they are open until 10pm and have a very clean modern bathroom. read more

This place was SUPER delicious! I'm not generally a plain coffee kind of guy, but the M Roast was pretty good, with or without half and half or sugar. The decor was also v. modern. It reminded me of some random scenes from Pasta, especially the scandalous gift exchange where the other female chefs saw a gift exchange they weren't supposed to see. But the best part was the walnut pastries. At first, I was a bit nervous going there because the BF isn't too adventurous, but he was willing to try it. So we get there, we order and our order is ready in like, one minute - SUPER FAST SERVICE! We sit down, and the pastries are like, super fresh and warm and SO GOOD. Like, amazingly good. I've never had it before, but I love red beans, I love walnuts, and I love pastries - what's not to love? The owner (I think?) was also super nice and stopped by and asked us questions and was genuinely shocked that the BF liked the pastry - Americans + red beans for dessert generally does not add up. The pastries were SO good we ended up taking home a small bag of them (and they snuck some extra for us which is super nice of them) I used SUPER a lot in this review because of our experience there. Red bean and walnut in a cute little ball? I'm sold :D Finally got to try a medium bag today brought to me as a gift. It was still warm (was in the car for half an hour) when I got it and the taste is amazing. When I first heard of Cocohodo, I thought the walnut was also paste inside of the little ball. Turns out there are large chunks of walnut inside with the red bean paste. I was a bit disappointed by that, since I think it would taste better with a smoother walnut texture. Once it has cooled down, it's not as good (kind of soggy), but I plan on putting it in the convection oven to toast it up a bit. Looking forward to eating more of these in the near future. (P.S., if you're health conscious, don't eat here. You'll get a heart attack looking at the calorie amount. I almost did realizing how many calories I consumed from that one bag =_=). read more

I love this place! It's usually really quiet in the mornings on weekdays so it's a nice spot to study. On occasion I'll come on a Sunday afternoon and it gets REALLY crowded. It's also a pretty nice place to hang out. The cafe itself is really cute. There's an area where you can see the walnut pastries being made! The walnut pastry has red beans and a tiny walnut and its really great when its still warm. My friends love receiving these little pastries as gifts. I always order the matcha yogurt smoothie and it just tastes light and refreshing. I really liked their sea salt coffee too. It comes in a cute glass cup if you order for here. read more

Little balls of walnut and red bean pastry goodness. Lured in by the attractive-looking sign and window, came here on a whim. Attractive cafe with modern decor. Tried the smallest bag (9) of their anchor Korean pastries filled will red bean with the nice crunch in the middle from a large walnut piece. They come warm in the shape of a walnut and each was pleasantly wrapped individually making them feel rather luxurious and special. Pretty tasty and I think I scarfed down 5 of these pretty quick since I was hungry. Bottom line: Tasty balls. However, more of a novelty. If I were in the area, I may drop by for some more but won't go out of my way for them. read more

It was my first time today (5/4/14). I've heard of the place through some korean vloggers and so once I found out there was one in Sunnyvale, I immediately set out to try it. The interior is so pretty, a petite little cafe with nice creams and soft brown colors. I loved the small tables and chairs along with the vintage kind of feel of the shop. The employees were really nice and they took my order really quickly! In just about five minutes, my order, an X-Large bag of the walnut pastries and a coffee bingsu, was done. The bingsu was all right, it's much better than a lot of other places I've tried. The red beans were delicious and I liked the coffee ice cream that it came with. A little ice heavy for my taste, but it was still very enjoyable. The walnut pastries are definitely the star of the show here. They are to die for -- soft walnut-looking exterior, with smooth red beans and walnuts inside. I'm not a fan of nuts, but wow, this was good. I loved that they only had a few walnuts inside the pastry because like stated earlier, I'm not a huge nut fan. I would LOVE to come here again. read more

I visited two years ago and the quality appears to remain the same. Today we dropped by since we were waiting for an order at Von's Oven Chicken a few doors down in the plaza. Polite service, clean space, various selection options for the pastries such as bag or box, amount, flavors. I got the 9 item mystery bag (red bean, Nutella, cream cheese), each one is individually wrapped in tissue paper. The Nutella and red bean have generous fillings. If you're expecting it to be packed with walnuts, you're going to be disapppointed since it's more like 1 or less walnut. I'm not a big nut fan so that was more than enough for me. In another review earlier, someone described it as like a taiyaki ball and I'd say that's accurate. I also ordered a hot hazelnut latte, which seems to have a darker hazelnut coffee flavor. It's not something I'd come back for again and again but it's great to tide you over while you wait nearby, for in-between meals, for a first date situation, or you want to gift something unique to a friend. read more

You'll die of cuteness here. Hubby and I stopped in for some coffee on a whim and fell in love! Super cute Korean style cafe with great coffee. They specialize in the cutest little Walnut "cookies". They're more like an ebelskiver had a baby with a madeleine, and it's shaped like a Walnut with a whole Walnut inside. They make them to order (or at least did when we ordered them), individually wrap them, and they not only box them up, but the box is then perfectly wrapped in cute paper and ribbon. I live for shit like this. And the best part, is they taste great, too! Coffee wise, I like their cold Brew (or I think they call it "cold coffee" here) and the Walnut latte. I was in the area and decided to check this place out as it had caught my eye before. The staff was extremely hospitable--we had no idea what "walnut pastry" meant so she gave us an adorable little sample wrapped individually. Its a cute little pancake ball filled with red bean and walnut chunks and I am guessing it is a popular Korean snack. Our family loved them. We ended up buying a "small bag" (which they served piping hot) but they also have cute boxes which would make great gift items. I also like the idea of their summer non-alocholic mojitos, however I tasted the mint mojito and it had way too much ice in it so you really aren't getting much bang for your buck. I also wish it was a little mintier although it was extremely refreshing. My dad tried the mango one and he said it tasted very artificial but I feel like that is expected from such a drink. They have a decent selection of other desserts such as green tea shave ice, coffee drinks, etc, but the walnut pastry is what their main highlight I also loved the ambiance! The decor is cute and and I love the wood paneling accents. I also noticed that there are outlets scattered throughout the shop, and it is spacious, so it would be a great place to get work done. It IS located in a high-traffic clump of businesses (Next to Indian Chaat Cuisine, Beauty Salon, BBQ place) but we had no issues with parking on a weeknight around 8:30pm. read more

After my underwhelming trip to Palace BBQ, I needed some sweets to brighten my day. I've initially heard of Cocohodo through advertisements on the Korean channel I get at home, so I figured it was about time to try these walnut pastries that they're known for. Honestly, if I ever have a reason to come back to this place, it will be for those pastries! Soft cake molded into a cute walnut shape, soft and decadent red bean paste (not too sweet too), and to top it all off, there's a roasted walnut waiting inside also. The "healthy" drink options (grain latte, black bean latte) are made from pre-sweetened powder and should barely pass as "healthy". $4.95 is pretty pricey for a small drink, esp if you can likely find the same drink powder at Hankook Supermarket right next door, hah. read more

Sooo I thought this was going to be a fancy hipster coffee shop with baristas who can educate me on coffee, and I was in the market for a new bag of beans which is another reason why I try out different coffee shops. Anyways.... this was just another bubble tea/PMT spot that happens to serve coffee. It was swarmed with high school kids studying, and the baristas were high schoolers too (nothing against high schoolers, just setting the tone for the spot). The inside is nice and clean and well decorated. However, I was planning on getting some work done and the wifi is terrrible. So I ended up just leaving after paying $6 for a sea salt latte what was overly sweet even though I said unsweetened. read more

Don't waste your time and get the shave ice, it's really not worth it for what you get, plus their ice are chunky, which I don't prefer. Their walnut pastry are good to have from time to time but I usually get tired of it after the second one because of how sweet it is. However, the winning point for me to give this place 4 stars is the yogurt smoothie. This this the only place I know that does this drink WELL. The people working here are extremely nice and welcoming! Im surprised not too many people know about this place, because its a nice spacious cafe to work in with nice tables. They have piano music playing and their drinks are superrr good!!! Not too sweet and just right. I cannot find another place in the bay area to match their iced matcha lattes because seriously its just DAMN GOOD. The milk is creamy, perfectly sweet, and lots of matcha in it. Their green tea shaved ice is nice and cute, not the best ive had though since its a bit rocky and not soft enough, but it still hit the spot. Small nicely decorated Korean owned store. It is like a different kind of Paris Baguette decorated store but without the bunch of baked goods. They have these Walnuts with red beans pastry puff that are made in there. They are really delicious, but a little bit pricy. Their drinks is also very good. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I would recommend to try this place to hang out and sit down and talk. It is a really quite place. The two times that I have been here, it was not that crowded. The have tables and seats for you to sit down and hang out with your friends. This place looks really clean and well maintained. I recommend their smoothie.
