Probably the best Thai food in issaquah/Sammamish area! As a vegetarian, I appreciate that they are mindful to inform me what dishes have fish sauce etc (not just what is visible in the dish) and have been happily ready to cook it without any meat products. Service is always pleasant and efficient. We pretty much have our favorites and usuals here now. The keemao noodles are the best I've eaten anywhere. Visited Issaquah to do some shopping. Found this restaurant on yelp as it had great reviews. SCORE! Totally authentic! I had been spoiled by my mother in laws food for years (She's from Thailand). We've been to Coconut Thai over twenty times now... It's safe to say that this place is easily deserving of a five star rating. My husband and I eat here at least once a week and have never had a bad meal. Every time has been especially fresh and tasting oh-so-good. Our favorites are the honey cashew nut chicken, flute rolls w/plum sauce, and the pad thai. We have sat in and ate a few times; we are always seated promptly and with a smile. Food is out quickly and smells so good. We most often do take out here. The same woman answers the phone and takes my name and phone number, asks how spicy I want my food, then always gives me a time ready to be picked up and price. The portions are great. I always have left overs for lunch the next day and they always seem to taste the same, if not better. Mmmmm. Coconut Thai is one of the few restaurants in Issaquah that you get quality and quantity in the same stop. I have been to a lot of Thai places before I even started Yelp and I hate to say it but this place did not live up to my house expectations. Pineapple fried rice was so plain. It literally felt like I was eating jasmine rice + curry powder (for color, not even taste), and a few pieces of broccoli and carrots. It said there was cashew nuts in it, I had expected it to be mixed in better but nope lol literally just tossed in the mix. Their mango sticky rice was probably my favorite thing there, not too sweet! However the mango was sooooo small and the sticky rice portion was less than a cup. For how much they charged, I expected a normal size mango with more sticky rice. All in all, I probably will not return. read more

I recently moved to the Seattle area and had been struggling finding a good Thai restaurant... (I'll admit the bar was set high after many years of great Thai food when I lived in NYC, DC, and even Vegas!) I'm so glad I found Coconut Thai! All I can say is yum!!! Although I have several "go to" Thai dishes (pad Thai, Kee Mao, Panang Curry, mango with sticky rice...) there were so many other intriguing dishes on their menu, I decided to try something different. I started with their Flute Roll (an unusual but tasty combination of prawn, crab, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese in a crispy deep fried rice paper served with basil cream sauce) followed by their twice cooked duck which was VERY flavorful and tender. Perhaps they were doing something special for the Christmas holiday but when I picked up my order, the hostess also handed me a coconut cupcake she said the chef made special. I'm not one for coconut but I have to say it was one of the most delicious cupcakes I've had. (Even better than the ones I've gotten from cupcake stores!) It was VERY moist, not too sweet, and had what I think was a green tea filling that was simply delicious. My search for great Thai is over! I look forward to trying out my usual Thai fare next... [One thing to note for take out ordering... They didn't squeeze their entire menu onto the take out menu, so be aware that they have desserts and other side dishes too. My family and I were craving Thai food before our show at the Village Theater so we thought we would check out the new place in Issaquah, Coconut Thai. It did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and the staff was extremely nice! The restaurant was extremely clean with a pleasant atmosphere. My favorite dish was the honey cashew nut! The vegetables were fresh and crispy with a delicious grilled flavor. We also got the phad Thai, the red curry, the coconut cupcake and black rice with coconut ice cream. We'd visit this place again if we were in the area, but we felt like we made poor choices this first time around as far as what dishes to get. We both got Chef's Specials - me, the Honey Nut Cashew with tofu and boyfriend got the Rama Noodle with tofu...and both dishes were really, really sweet. Like, is this dessert? kind of sweet. Like when the waitress asked if we wanted a cupcake for dessert, we actually laughed because we felt like we'd just eaten 4 cupcakes. Wished we could have tried everything on the menu as all sounded delicious. But, since it was just my husband and I, we had 3 dishes and an appetizer, they were all excellent: chicken satay, lord noodle, chicken honey cashew nut, coco fried rice. While dining here with another couple, my husband and I were excited to try something new. They were packed and that is always a pretty decent sign. However this night it also meant that they ran out of things fast, like honey for the drinks. The kitchen seemed very backed up and it took about 45 minutes for our food to come out. However the food was very flavorful. We ordered sticky rice that didn't come out until we were almost finished with our meal and ready to leave. But we were given a free coconut cupcake for the wait.. okay, the cupcake melted my heart and made the wait worth it. Tom Kha soup - flavorful and not overly spicy Tom Yum soup- flavorful but not spicy enough Flute Roll - This is like a spring roll with cream cheese. The flavors kind of run together. Meh Crispy Garlic Supreme - This is unusual and I like it. They are deep fried vegetables with a garlic chili sauce. Very good. Rama Shower Noodles - These were good. But a little overcooked and mushy Best- Coconut cupcakes! I would go back just for the cupcake. It is cream filled and made with fresh coconut. It earned a star all on it's own! When I received it back, it was easily 4 Star again and cold! It's like they brought it back for 10 minutes, moved around the noodles and brought it back out! We ended up ordering one lunch special, the Honey Cashew Nut Chicken, a regular Red Curry and the Rama Dam(?) Noodle. Would pass on the Rama Noodle, but everything else was delish. Also got the Tom Kah soup and the soup was amazing. Finally a soup with enough mushrooms and cilantro, and the right touch of coconut milk. Oh the Garden Rolls to start with are so fresh, and have a nice crunch. They do have beer and wine, and have Riesling, Sauv Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and two reds: Merlot and Cab. I LOVE there flute rolls (I only wish they gave me 25% sauce with them because I love it THAT much) . We love there fried rice (ultimant comfort food) . My mom loves there pad Thai. I'm a huge fan of the pad see ew . Also they have a mango friend fish salad that we accidentally ordered once that was so good it's my splurge meal now. The service is amazing. No matter how much I order from them they still help me keep up the act that I'm not an addict :p. But really the staff are all amazing. Professional attentive and helpful. This place is awesome! My roommate and I go here all the time and neither of us have ever had a bad experience. The "worst" experience I've ever had here was when I brought my parents here and they brought us the wrong dish due to a misunderstanding. It was odd that the waiter didn't offer to fix the mistake or simply not charge us for the dish. However, the dish that we were given, despite not being what we wanted, was totally delicious, so it's hard for me to be mad about it. Other than that incident, the service has always been great. As the above anecdote illustrates, you could basically just throw a dart at the menu and end up happy with your meal. All the dishes feature complex, rich flavors and they are happy to make them however spicy, or not spicy, you like. In particular, their fried rice is just amazing. This is my go-to dish when eating here and my roommate eats it at least once or twice per week. Also don't miss the Flute Rolls if you like cream cheese. The atmosphere is nothing special. They've got fairly standard booth seating and what sounds like elevator music playing in the background. That's really the only (mild) negative, but I really don't care about it, because the food is just so damn good. Atmosphere: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 6/5 In conclusion, if you like Thai food, you'd be a fool not to try this place out. Currently my favorite Thai restaurant. Their chicken satay is on point. All of the dishes I've tried were amazing. First time I went, I got the coconut ice cream. It was amazing. We've been several times now in the last two months and we've had nothing but top notch, fresh Thai food. The fresh salad rolls are the best we've ever had. So fresh and with a crispy wonton-like noodle in the middle gives it the perfect crunch. Many great dishes, but our favorite is the chicken with broccoli and Brussels sprouts.
