Locals, locals and more locals. The locals know where to have a wonderful breakfast! The giant terrace patio is delightful, and the service is stellar. The bar right in the middle of it all lets you know they serve everyone who is thirsty. Most of the items are your typical go to food in a place like this, but all fresh and shmedium size portions. It is clean and airy with plants and trees and a great vibe. Did I mention the bar is in the middle? Lots of booze flowing and some specials on am drinks like mimosas, etc. The fruit, toast and coffee all spot on. Our meals where good, and had a pleasant expereince from the moment we strolled in. Don't be intimidated if there is a small wait, it will be worth it. Little side tip, the bano is rather exposed/open to all and very close to the action. But clean and ready for use, just know your right next to people eating, fyi. lol read more

This is my favorite breakfast place in all of PV. It was also the farthest from my room and required some slight incline climbing and still I hiked all the way over here, in the heat, regularly. The food is just that good. The service is also great. The servers remember your drink preferences and greet repeat visitors fondly. I loved everything I tried here but I think the churro pancakes are my favorite. They're amazingly light, fluffy, and not overly sweet despite the name. I don't drink coffee, but found their assortment of fresh juices (pineapple), lemonades (passion fruit), and smoothies (green) heavenly. If you're craving a sweet breakfast, head to Coco's for their assortment of unique french toast, pancakes, and waffles. read more

I had the chilaquiles with chicken and egg and my husband had Machaca with eggs. Both were excellent! The hot salsa is very flavorful. Overall, Coco's is a pretty okay place to do breakfast or brunch. I went twice last week while I was in PV. The first time, I got the Salmon omelette and coffee. The omelette came with hash browns, a tiny salad, and my choice of a biscuit, toast, muffin, etc. It was pretty busy when I went, but the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The second time I visited was around 1pm because it was the only place nearby I knew of that was still serving breakfast. I was off to a late start to my day, and unfortunately, Coco's made me much later. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but my partner and I waited about 45 minutes for our food to come out. In that time, my scorching-hot "latte" had cooled off and I drank most of that, as well as about half of my pomegranate mimosa. I got the spinach eggs benedict, which also had a side of hash browns and salad by default. The food was pretty good, but for price and service I think there are a lot better options. If you're eating here, I recommend going with the eggs benedict and a coffee. If you're into mimosas, The pomegranate one was pretty good, and my partner's bellini was also pretty tasty. I don't recommend the latte if you're any kind of a coffee snob - just go simple and drink the coffee. If you're from America, pour some cream and sugar in it because central America has the best. read more

We visited this restaurant for dinner though I hear the breakfast is really what they're known for. There were lots of expats here so pretty much everyone spoke English. We started our meal with a bell pepper soup which was really not my favorite. But the pork enchiladas we had were heavenly. The ambiance is probably the coolest thing about this place! The front is basic open air restaurant, but you walk through to the courtyard and it's a whole new experience. You're surrounded by trees wrapped with lighting, large plants, and plenty of fans! It feels like you're far away and not in a restaurant surrounded by concrete. Service both times we went was impeccable. The first time I was too sick to eat so our server gave me a shot of something awful followed by some mineral water. It didn't help the problem I had, but it was nice of him to try. The boy loved everything he ate that trip, even my food! The second time we went, I had the stuffed almond crusted French toast. The portion was enormous and oh my gosh was it tasty! Green juice, fresh squeezed juices, and breakfast booze creations are all fantastic. Horrible service! We waited for 45 minutes and never received our food. Understand being busy but not once did the server ask us if we needed a coffee or drink refill or even speak to us. This was our favorite place in Puerto Vallarta! Everything tasted amazing and so authentic. The first day we came for breakfast, the cinnamon French toast was a great starter! My friends and I split an omelet with salmon and goat cheese...sooo delicious! Ruben was an excellent character! Checked on us, joked with us, and we learned that he & his sister own the restaurant. (You have to ask him what Coco's real name is) lol. The tree directly in the middle of the restaurant gave such a calming tone to your meal. So gorgeous, and perfect amount of shade or sunlight depending on where you sit. Loved the fans placed around the tables (needed for later in the evening meals). Much Better options! First time at Coco's (& last) & was expecting much better given the yelp reviews. Been dining at PV for many years and places like Memo's, La Palapa, etc. (1) Food - average at best. I had the salmon omelette & my partner the red burrito (beef) The omelette was luke warm (obviously had set out for awhile) and was pretty ordinary - cured salmon, cheese, and a few capers and thick sliced onions thrown on the top. My partner's burrito while hot (temperature) was pretty bland in flavor for PV standards. Value for the price, it was fair - the primary reason for two star vs one. (2) Service - Pretty bad, even for PV Waiter had to be flagged down for anything - take order, refill water/coffee, - the rest of the time the waiter was at the bar with his back to the room, head down on his cell phone. The place was at less than 50% capacity at 12:30 P.M. on a Tuesday & yet it took more than 45 minutes from placing our order to mains arriving. (3) Ambiance - Sat in the courtyard -appears nice - but There was a large party of 8 to 10 sitting nearby swilling Mimosas and talking and laughing loudly. I got it, it is PV you are on vacation, but if your expectations of Coco's Kitchen is that of a bar with rowdy, boisterous patrons, average bar fare food, and poor service - then this place is for you. If on the other hand, you want to have a peaceful meal in a courtyard setting dserving of food quality of over 4 stars - look elsewhere. Obviously this establishment has a devoted following based on the undeserved ranking and could tell based on observed waiter/customer interactions. read more

Firstly, our waiter was incredibly friendly. He made excellent recommendations and chatted with us while we waited for our food. I ordered the chile relleno omelette and it was fantastic! Even the retried beans it came with were perfect. Additionally, the fresh orange and papaya juice (mixed together, as recommended by the waiter) was very refreshing. Definitely stop here for breakfast during your trip! Only one point of confusion. Upon receiving my bill I noticed that the check presenter had a credit card holder and a large Visa sign in it. Given that I was running low on pesos at this point in the trip, I happily used my credit card. I got the feeling from the waiter that I was making a faux pas, but he took it and processed the card anyway (it could totally be my misunderstanding), then when were we walking out I saw a sign that said "cash only" that I must have missed when entering. I would have happily paid in cash if that's policy, but perhaps take out the Visa signs from the check presenters to avoid confusion. read more

Me and a group of 5 friends visited Coco's during our weekend getaway in Puerto Vallarta. The food was mediocre, not exciting but just a normal touristy breakfast place. Our experience was fine until we left the restaurant. As we were down the road, the waiter called me back to come talk to him. He asked if I had meant to tip in dollars or pesos. I said pesos, like the bill. He then proceeds to tell us that we didn't tip enough and should have tipped more because the service was "fine". While he's berating me in front of the restaurant, where there are a ton of other guests out on the patio, I try to tell explain, we were told by a local that people don't tip in Mexico ( I guess they tip at US/Canadian catered restaurants). I had never felt so bullied by stranger my entire life. After explaining the confusion, he doesn't drop it and keeps berating me. Forcing me to increase the tip to 100 pesos from 25 pesos for a 675 pesos breakfast. It wasn't so much that he complained about the tip, but the way he handled it by berating me and bullying me in front of the restaurant and their customers. Very low class.
