This place is located in a business park close to John Wayne Airport. The location is odd for a salon, but ample parking is always a good thing. I got here a few minutes before my Saturday 10am appointment. I was greeted and offered water, however things started to go downhill from here. . . and let me apologize because I typically hate negative rants, but here I go. I had to wait close to twenty minutes past my scheduled appointment until my hairdresser was ready for me. During this 20 minutes, I heard bickering and profanity between one of the assistants and the front desk person over what music selections to play. They didn't have magazines to keep me occupied so I couldn't distract myself. My stylist finally greeted me, yet without any apologies on her timing, this was a bit shocking to me. . . considering I was a new client. The lack of professionalism continued for the remainder of my appointment. My stylist and her assistants were just gossiping about other employees, getting drunk the weekend before and other (in my eyes) inappropriate public salon topics. I was literally waiting for Tabitha to walk in the door (Bravo TV reference here folks: Tabitha's Salon Takeover) My cut and color came to $180 before tip. The cut was decent, coloring wasn't exactly what I had asked for. In my opinion, there are way too many salons out there to receive this type of service at this price point. I am giving a 2 star because of the poor service and long wait that i have received. I feel like the service here is not that great.I had an appointment at 10:30am ! I arrived here at 10:35am and was not serviced until 40 min later. During the 40 min wait, I have to go up to the receptionist to inquire for my stylist Gil several times. They did not inform me that they could not reach Gil until i ask for it. In other words, they made me wait for 40 min until i ask or said something. They told me that Gil did not pick up the phone and was not responding. Because of the super long wait along with no response from Gil, i finally got Frank to do my haircut for the same groupon deal with haircuts and partial highlights and he did a great job. However, during my whole hair session when Gil arrived, he did not come to me personally to even apologize. Even though the front receptionist apologized already, i believed i deserve an explanation as to why he did not show up on time and made his customer waited and wasted 40 min. First of all it is not professional for him to even made his customers to wait that long, second of all he did not even apologize to the customer himself. I was pretty disappointed with the service. However, i do like my haircut that Frank did a lot along with the highlights. If anyone wants to come here for haircut, i recommend Frank. Not sure why this place has as many stars as it does, here's my experience. I came in for a haircut, first time client, and made an appointment 1 week in advance. Its in a weird business complex, its hard to see unless youre really looking for it. Was not greeted when I walked in. When I told the front desk guy my appointment time he told me to have a seat and I waited get this, 48 MINUTES!!!! He kept telling me that my stylist was almost finished up until the last half hour. At that point it was just embarrassing for them. When my stylist was ready for me he blamed the receptionist for always overbooking (good to know). Anyways the haircut came out horrible. Very chopped up and basically cut my hair so it was all the same length when I asked to keep my layers. It's so bad I hardly ever wore it down unless it was curled. And that's what they do here. Make sure it's curled so when you walk out you look great. Needless to say I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I was very curious about Keratin Hair Treatments so I bought a Groupon for this. At $99, it's hard to pass up! I had to wait a week for an appointment as these were very popular. However, the day before my scheduled appointment, Katheryn called and said she was available on Monday, her day and the salon's day off! I immediately took it as I wanted it done sooner rather than later. The salon is located in a business park, across from SNA airport. The interior is really cute--turquoise walls, very feminine decorating pieces. I especially liked the mirrors. Anyways, when Katheryn called, she explained what I would expect, the three day wait period, and the additional shampoo/conditioner cost post-treatment. It was a relatively easy process. She washes your hair, applies the treatment, puts a plastic bag over it, wait 30 minutes and then smoothes it out with a straightning iron. Overall, since my hair is shoulder length, it took 1 1/2 hours. After waiting 3 days (and I so couldn't wait to wash my hair) without putting sunglasses, it behind my ears, in a ponytail, etc, I was able to wash it and it looked and felt fabulous! She also recommends you get your hair re-cut after the treatment as your style might look different (very obvious if you have layers). I also recieved a coupon for a hair cut or color. Overall, I would get the treatment again. One month later and my hair is much easier to style, doesn't get frizzy at all, and blow dries take less than 5 mins. Kathryn is great--definitely see her! This review is for Claudine. I purchased a Groupon for a cut and partial highlights which I used yesterday. Since it was my first time, I was clear to Claudine that I wanted a a very natural highlight, not too light and she said caramel would go very well with my skin tone and hair color. Once it was done, it was lighter than I liked...def not a caramel but a blonde. I pointed this out and she was very adamant that only this looked good on my hair. When i didnt look to happy, she said I can get another toning done to get it darker. Seems fair right? Here's the bummer 1. $25 for toning which is a must with highlights is not mentioned on the Groupon. 2. I called the salon to mention my issue and they informed me I need to fork out another $25 to get the color I want!!!! Shoddy service. No apologies for a bad experience. And ofcourse, Claudine is nice enough, but enough with the sales pitch every two seconds. Do a good job and the customer will be back with you and you dont have to try so hard! After my experience, I read the all the reviews on Yelp, which for the most part seem pretty good. I went in for a Keratin treatment. My stylist was Chelsea.( do not see Chelsea. She does a terrible job) I was late 8 minutes. When I walked in she was working on another client and told me that my appointment was at 5:30 and she was planning to leave by 6:30 and I'm late and she can not do my hair because she wants to go home at 6:30. I told her that I will come back another day and mentioned that giving only an hour for a Keratin seems like a very rushed thing. She said just sit and I might see you. After 30 minutes wait she started working on me. She was so offensive, not welcoming at all and rude . It took only an hour from the time she started washing my hair to when I was out the door ! It seemed very rushed to me and when she was applying the product to my hair I noticed that she was putting very very tiny amount on my hair, not enough to cover all my hair. I waited 72 hours before washing my hair with paraban and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. There is no change at all!!! My hair is as frizzy as before. No smoothness. I called her and she told me that she charges me the same amount I paid last time to reactivate it. She took no responsibility and said it's my fault for not using the right shampoo. I specifically asked her beforehand do I have to wash with GK global shampoo and she said no , sulfate free is ok. But now she is changing her story . And even if that is true after the first wash it should not all go away. I saw no results after first wash!!! Do not go to this salon and do not see Chelsea. She does a terrible Keratin treatment job and you will see no results at all. I just wasted my money and tipped her for no results at all. read more

I am a person of many words, so please brace yourself! The salon itself is cute and small. (And clean, don't forget clean!) The decor and color are all really nice and well thought - everything goes with the scheme! Gilbert came over to tell me he was finishing up the previous customer and cleaning up, and then he came over again to collect me. I liked that there wasn't much of a wait - they're timely! I had really long hair. So long that after I chopped off ~12 inches to donate, I still have a mid-back length! Lol. Anyways, my hair type is wavy/slightly curly, prone to frizziness. (Anyone who knows the NaturallyCurly's hair types, I'm a 2B....) So, here's how it went. Gilbert took off my 12 inch donation, shampooed and towel dried my hair, and then snipped happily away. Blow dried and straightened my hair for a lovely finish. I walked away with cute long layers and side bangs! I felt like a new woman! Gilbert is a new addition to the salon (said he's been there for ~2 months now), but he definitely isn't new to the industry. He was really easy to talk to. I'm not particularly talkative, and I didn't feel awkward or uncomfortable at all. I didn't have to tell him anything about my hair - he knew all the tricks! So I walked away with a haircut that looks great both straightened and in its natural state. Plus, it will suit my lazy, minimal-styling, sleep-maximizing college-student lifestyle... :P (Side note: For any gal with really long hair, it's safe to come here for a trim. Gilbert was telling me he tries to cut off as little as possible when people ask for that, so you'll be in safe hands!) The product line they use, Eufora, is great! I might splurge and invest in it... my hair looked/smelled fab after using it! I also had less breakage/fallout - am I imagining things??? Being a college student, I was hesitant when I heard the price tag for the cut ($65! Why did I miss the Groupon?!) but it was totally worth it. My daughter and I visited this salon based on Yelp reviews. My daughter saw Kat Jackson. Kat was very professional, detail oriented and asked several questions about exactly how she wanted he hair. My daughter was very pleased with the outcome of her cut. Here is were the 5th star comes in. While getting in the car my daughter said she REALLY like it but was concerned she could not duplicate the style on her own. As a 42 y/o dad I am no help in this department. We went back in and asked Kat if she had a minute give her some pointers re styling. Kat went into great detail in educating her on proper styling technique which was greatly appreciated. I took off one star because of the wait. I had to wait about 30-40 minutes which is absurd. I raced over here from where ever I was so I wouldn't be late. I walked in the door on the dot for my 11:00 appointment. The receptionist (a super nice guy) told me that who ever was going to be doing my hair (I had a Groupon) was "just finishing up". I waited and waited until finally the receptionist came back and told me Katie would do my cut since the first person was "too busy". I realize that hair people are creative/artist types but other people's time needs to be respected. I wonder what would have happened if I had shown up 40 minutes late for my appointment? Creative types or not, a hair salon is still a business and time is money. Don't run Groupons if you are going to get this over booked or at least extend the expiration date on the Groupon so you can fit in everybody who bought one. Aside from that, Katie did a great job on my haircut so maybe things worked out for the best. She's fun to talk to and she gave me a great cut, conditioning treatment and blow out. The salon was super easy to find with my GPS...a few quick turns and it was right in front of me. There is a cute little doggie named Harley who has the run of the place, I think he belongs to the owner. I'm not sure if I would return and pay full price for a cut here. I had the same treatment done at this salon 3 1/2 months ago and could have probably waited another month before getting a second treatment since my hair still looks good but I have a party to go to next week and wanted to look my best. Also I bought a groupon for 3 treatments and was excited to use it. My hair is pretty long and was expecting an extra fee since that's what the groupon said but to my surprise they didn't ask for any extra fees. Gilbert did a great job as usual. This was hands down the worst haircut of my life. I don't cry at haircuts but I sobbed. I have a mix between a mullet and the John and Kate plus 8 super long front/ spikes back. I wanted a shoulder length even cut with some layers and slightly longer in the front. I got nothing close and I will be wearing a hat for the next 3 months until my layers at my ears (remember I said shoulder length) grow out to an acceptable length. There are random pieces that are 3 inches longer in the back so it looks like a 2 year old cut my hair while I was sleeping. Also she cut my bangs my taking them and just cutting across once. I found Cody Rose Salon through groupon because I was in need of some serious hair TLC. I'm usually very skeptical about new hair salons/ stylist but since my old stylist moved away I thought I would take a chance. I purchased a haircut & partial highlights groupon for $65 (which I thought was a steal!) Before purchasing, I scoped out their yelp and everything seemed promising. I called in on a Saturday (with wishful thinking) to scheduled an appt but of course, they were fully booked. Luckily, I was able to get their next available appt on Tues with one if their groupon recommended stylist, Jen. The salon was very easy to find, even though it was tucked away in a large business complex. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by their salon dog and their friendly receptionist. The salon is very chic, classy and just overall adorable! Jen kindly greeted me right away and took me back to her station & did a very thorough consultation on my hair. She listened to all my wants, needs and concerns and gave her professional input. I was drastically chopping a good 8in or so off my hair and wanted to go "as blonde as an Asian can go". After listening to me, she examined my hair & assured me that the style & color would suit me and off she went to do her magic. The entire service was excellent! Jen made me feel extremely comfortable the whole entire time and updated me with everything she was doing and why. It really reassured me and I knew I could instantly trust her. She's such a lovely person with a stellar personality and is a hair goddess!! By the end of the service, I felt like we had known each other for years and I was ecstatic with the results of my hair! She nailed it, to say the least :) my color was flawless and looked so natural. She kept the integrity of my hair too, which I greatly appreciated. The cut was fabulous and she really knew how to accentuate the cut to fit my face & style. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better service! I highly recommend Jen to anyone who is out there in need of some good hair TLC :) I'll definitely be back and will be recommending this awesome salon to all my family & friends! My hair stylist was super sweet but her work on my hair was rather unsatisfactory. I'm not being overly picky- for instance- I can cut my bangs better on my own than she did. And I am not good at cutting hair at ALL. Some parts of the haircut turned out so badly, that it doesn't even look like a professional did it. Maybe it was just my stylist though! I was having one of those days. A day where I just needed to get a haircut (ladies you know what i mean) I called around at around 4:30pm looking for a hairdresser who could take me that day. Cody Rose salon was the last one i called (at 5:30). The receptionist was so nice and asked around to see if anyone could squeeze me in before closing. I'm so grateful that Gil could take me for a hair cut. My hair was in a sad state of being relegated to being tied up in a ponytail. Everyone was so nice at the salon and while i was waiting (i knew that i would need to wait a little bit, just because i called 20 minutes prior). Gil was super awesome. He was so easy to talk to and did an awesome job with my hair. He listened to what I wanted and I tend to give really vague ideas of what I wanted and he turned my vague hand gestures into an amazing haircut. I didn't believe that my hair could hold a curl, but Gil totally changed my mind since he styled it with really pretty waves and stayed for the whole next day. The salon itself is super cute and clean. I love the chandeliers and the black salon chairs that look more like club chairs. Note: this place is a little hard to find, especially in the dark. I purchased a groupon for the Keratin treatment. If your hair is below your shoulders, they charge you $25 for each four inches. I was charged $50 extra even though my hair hit 6 inches below my shoulders in the back (couldn't they have calculated for each inch $6.25?). So my groupon ended up really costing $150.00 for the keratin treatment. The process lasted 90 minutes (in and out the door). They used Inoar Moroccan express hair treatment in a pink bottle. I left the salon extremely pleased- my hair looked amazing and was super smooth. I waited 72 hours after treatment to wash my hair with paraban and sulfate free shampoo/conditioner. I was disappointed with the results (my hair dried smoother but not much different compared to spending an extra 5 to 10 minutes styling or 5 minutes using my flatiron. Japanese thermal straightening costs almost the same, and the results last six months. The Japanese straightening leaves your hair gorgeous simply by air drying (similar to when you first leave the salon after the keratin treatment). If I had to do it again- the Japanese thermal straightening has much better results (if you always want sleek smooth looking hair just with air drying)! Keratin is ok but the results are not that noticeable (it cuts down on your styling time but that's about it). read more

Tina = AWESOME. I had moved to the area a few years back, but never bothered to get referrals for a new stylist. I needed a last minute haircut on a Saturday morning due to random circumstances, and I immediately jumped on Yelp to start the hunt. When I called Cody Rose, I was told they were booked. BUT! 5 minutes after hanging up, they called me back and stated Tina could fit me in. ONLY Downside: When I got there, the receptionist was not helpful AT ALL. She didn't introduce herself, looked totally bored to be there, and didn't even escort me to a seat. She just handed me a house coat/robe thing to go over my shirt and pointed to the shampoo chairs in the back. Gee, thanks lady. BEST Part: Tina! I know nothing about hair or what looks good with my facial structure, and Tina was truly helpful in giving honest tips about what would look good. Very professional. She's really easy to talk to (and I'm usually the quiet one in the salon), and always seems to be smiling. The product she uses is all natural, and left no icky feeling at the end of the night. The cut turned out to be trendy and well done. Everything's even, and the layers are just the right length. The cut and style was $55, and well worth it. read more

I was in desperate need of a hair cut. The person I had been going to for a couple years moved, and I slacked on finding a new place. I saw a groupon for a haircut and conditioning treatment for $49 and I though... why not?? A couple days later, I had an appointment with Patty. The salon is really cute, as other people have said. I had no problem with any of the staff, everyone was really nice. I looked around at the other stylists, and everyone seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. I got a really good vibe from it! I had long, mostly straight hair with tons of split ends... I wanted it cleaned up, layered a little, and only a couple inches off. Patty suggested some things and overall, she did a really nice job with my hair. I was very pleased! I am not exactly sure what the conditioning treatment was.... It smelled good though! Honestly, I probably wouldn't pay for that seperatly again. It's not that I didn't like it. It made my hair a little softer (unless I was just imagining it) for a couple days... I just don't usually get those things. The only thing I forgot to find out, is how much the normal haircuts are. Go see Claudine! She will leave your hair amazing! After a friend bought me a Groupon and highly recomended Claudine I decided to come here for a cut and blow dry. Now mind you, I am extremely picky when it comes to people doing my hair. I have curly hair so most people don't know how to work with curly hair properly. Anyways, upon meeting Claudine she was extremely friendly. She is very knowledgable and has practically been all over the World. My hair was washed, cut, blow-dryed and ironed. What really inpressed me about Claudine was that she listened when I explained that I don't want too much of my hair cut and the style I wanted to achieve. What really stood out to me also was how much time she took to make sure she did my hair right. Since my hair is so long it took a while to straighten. When her next appointment came in before we were done, she asked them if they could wait a couple more minutes while she finshes my hair. She took her time without rushing the job. I am the quintessential poster child to prove that an expensive cute does not always equate to a fantastic cut. I can find easier, less painful ways to waste $100.... open the car window on the freeway and let it blow away, tear it into tiny pieces and use it later as a rainy day puzzle... you get the idea. My last haircut was so bad I was terrified to go to ANY salon! On a recommendation from a fellow volunteer, I went to Tina at Cody Rose Salon. She really took the time to understand what I was looking for in a haircut, how I styled my hair and, most importantly, what I didn't like about previous cuts. She understood the texture of my hair and how it would lay and best frame my face. I came away thrilled with my new haircut! It is an easy-to-do, low-maintenance style, and I paid less than I have in YEARS!! The salon itself is nicely laid out but not at all pretentious or snooty. Overall, an enjoyable experience! I used a Groupon here and with that being said you are never quite sure what to expect but boy was I blown away (literally and figuratively since they do blow dry your hair). My stylist was Claudine Sousa and she was so sweet and did a wonderful job. She helped me keep my length while cutting off the dead ends and giving me a shorter but still long cut ready for spring. I also got the deep conditioning (part of the groupon) which made my hair look beautiful and shiny. The best part overall was when she blow dried my hair because I left looking like a million bucks, I've never quite figured out the round brush and hair dryer combo like they do at salons but I loved how she did it and it stayed for hours (which other places I usually fall flat as soon as I walk out the door). Overall I will be back and will see Claudine! On a side note while I was getting my hair done there was a bridal party in the studio (owners daughter I believe) and although there were so many of them my stylists made sure to make me a priority. On my first visit last year, my hair was 36 inches long and seriously lacking of any body (I hadn't been to a salon in so long because of way too many bad experiences and layering mishaps). But after meeting Jen, my nerves were put to a rest. She's amazing at what she does and has the bubbliest personality to boot. There wasn't a single awkward moment and it was as if we'd had a client-hairstylist relationship for years. We talked horoscopes, gossip, places to check out in O.C. and everything in between. I found this gem through Groupon. I was taken care of by Claudine and oh my! This woman is an artist. My hair was down the middle of the my back and asked her to chop it off into a layered bob. Even though she asked me why I'm going so short (like all my friends and family) with such pretty locks, I put my faith in her. She did not disappoint. I've always been attached to my security blanket of hair and now a week later I still have no regrets. I've had so many compliments. I also had partial highlights put in, a light caramel color. Again, she was hesitant because of my dark hair turning orange. She asked for advice from a co worker that I absolutely adore. I believe her name was Denise? A beautiful Vietnamese lady. She advised Claudine on what to mix to prevent my locks going orange. What a duo! I love them both! They were both sassy and funny. Claudine took her time and even though I was a groupon customer, she did not give my hair any less treatment than a full paying patron. She's worth the full pay of any hair service! I walked out with bouncy, sassy, beautiful short locks. I'm so grateful I found her through groupon because I will happily pay full price for any service from any of the stylists there as they were all very educated and down to earth. My only regret was not having a before photo and after photo! I will refer all my friends and family to the team of Cody Rose! The staff there is well trained and professional, the only reason I'm giving four stars is the receptionist. So after playing phone tag 5 or 6 times I finally got a hold of the salon and they booked me an appointment for the next week (I was expecting a longer wait, so I was pretty ecstatic about that) but then the day before they called and told me they had double booked, and since I was the one who booked last, I was getting bumped. I know these things happen, but it was frustrating after waiting so long to MAKE the appointment for it to then not even be available (they did fit me in two weeks later). *Sigh* I digress. Marissa did my keratin treatment, and she was amazing! Great personality and very friendly. this being my first treatment she made sure to explain everything to me before she even took me back to wash my hair. Couldn't have asked for a better stylist, and better results. At the end they gave me a coupon for 1/2 off my next cut! I will be returning here. read more

He genuinely wants you to be happy with the results and takes the time necessary to get the job done right. Everyone I've met at Cody Rose has been really friendly and professional. Very happy with my haircut and conditioning from Denise! She was very nice and layered my hair into a great shape. I called in that same morning for an appointment and asked about the Groupon. The salon honored the groupon deal without having to go through the website, so it was a cool $35 for all my services even with hair being past my shoulders.
