We decided to stop into this place, after reading that they serve homemade pies, which sounded pretty awesome. We were seated immediately, which was great. However, the service after we were sat was the absolute worst! The server made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. She made us feel completely unwanted like we didn't belong in the establishment, i have never felt so uncomfortable in my adult life. My girlfriend had asked for side of ranch with her fries and she never got it. The server never stopped by to ask how everything was or do refills. We observed her with other guests and she was more conversational and courteous. At the end of our meal, she literally just dropped the check in front of me and said "here you go!" Didn't even have a courtesy to ask how everything was or can i get something else for you guys? The most insulting service ever! read more

I was looking forward to a good hot latte. On the window near the door it says expresso, latte, cappuccino. I go in and ask for a latte and she said that we only serve regular coffee. I was very disappointed and a cup of coffee that I got wasn't even that good. I will not go back, false advertising right on the window in front of where the cashier stands. read more

I stopped in and ordered a slice of apple pie. The waitress was very friendly. About halfway through the pie, I found large bluish-green mold. I was disgusted and took the plate up to the counter. The waitress was shocked and apologized. Another waitress (possibly the owner?) started asking in Spanish what had happened. I think this would be a good place for breakfast. It was not the lunch place I would have chosen. It didn't feel friendly and it didn't feel clean to me. Our waitress seemed pissed. I also thought the food was not up to the prices they charged. We had a better meal at Moody's. Food was OK, but not satisfying and the vibe of the place did not make you want to linger. We enjoined our breakfast lunch dining experience here. The eggs and sausage came with hash browns and a pancake. Eggs were perfectly done to order hash browns were tasty - crisp on outside and shorter in the middle, and pancake was excellent. The waffle was under cooked and only soft. Not that good. Stopped for Sunday brunch. It was one of the few places in town open before 11 am. Took about 20 min to get seated but then we ordered right away and the food came quickly. Nice old fashioned coffee shop in downtown Truckee. Big variety of items on the menu including some Mexican items. Shared the grilled roast beef and Swiss and had a cup at of soup. My husband and I ate at "Coffee and" . We love this place! Hometown diner that serves fresh, hot breakfasts. Lately we haven't been able to find any restaurants that offer hashbrowns ......until now. Food served warm. Eggs, fresh, not egg beaters. Toast is straight from the toaster, not from under a heat lamp. Bacon is meaty and not filled with fat or burnt. Delicious fresh, hot hashbrowns! Locally owned and frequented basic coffee shop downtown. Been downtown for decades but moved from the original location. Long term staff, friendly but not overly familiar, basic breakfast and lunch choices with some Mexican and veggie / salad options. One of the local's favorites for breakfast (try the eggs and pork chops - always solid) and where most of the local downtown merchants take out their lunch orders. A couple of tips to tourists, the staff are locals and can give you some helpful hints and suggestions about Truckee and the Lake. When you're walking on the boardwalk in front of this joint continue down to the west and you'll find the original location immortalized in the sidewalk with a coffee cup imprint - a little geocaching exercise in downtown Truckee. read more

"Coffee And" is a lovely little breakfast place. My wife and I stopped here on our honeymoon yesterday. They have a wide selection as far as their menu goes and the food was good. The staff was attentive and kind. We recommend stopping here if you are ever in Truckee. read more

Possibly the worst place I've eaten. I preferred the special of the day. It was a chicken quesadilla. It tasted off and not good. I usually do no complain but couldn't eat but two bites. I just ate the salad which was good. I sent it back. Waitress was not happy about it. There was no apology. Someone in my party got coconut pie. I asked for one and she said they were out. This place was almost a complete disaster. The hamburger was right out of a microwave, served Luke warm and very unappealing to look at (let alone eat). It came with some kind of "secret" sauce that should go to the owners grave. The best part of my meal was the 'right-out-of-a-can' chili, hard to screw that up. It was served more warm than the burger but far cooler than it should have been. The Tabasco sauce was good! The waitress was horrible. When I placed my order I first asked for a 'bowl' of chili with onions. I then asked for a hamburger And the waitress said "...and chili?" I looked at her to see if my dead mother somehow was looking down on me questioning my portion size. By the way, I am a big eater. To add insult to this I was supposed to get chips or fries or Cole slaw with my burger but she never asked. This was one of the worst cases of waitressing but maybe she wanted to help me somehow like telling me the restaurants side dishes are crap. read more

Oh wow, this place was not what I was expecting. But, it was freezing out and we just jumped in. First of all, the coffee was awful! If your name is Coffee &, please at least have some decent coffee. I wanted an old fashion diner, with friendly homey service. This place was perfect. The kids loved it (kids meals start at $2.50), they ate everything on their plates! I LOVE little mom & pop shops like this! The service is excellent, the food is amazing, and the servers never let my coffee go below half full. They serve basic breakfast food at breakfast, nothing fancy or "unique", but it's great quality food. I had the breakfast special. You pick 3 items from the list for $9.95. I don't eat a lot typically so I just got a scrambled egg, homefries, and French toast. Pretty simple, but it really hit the spot. And the coffee is really good! I will definitely be back. read more

This place will get you fed in a tourist setting. The food isn't very memorable unless you order anything with gravy, in which case you'll remember a brown sauce slopped haphazardly across your entire plate. I've given this place two chances with the same results each time. I took pictures of the food each time because I thought it was just funny how everything is thrown right on the plate. You have to feel a little sorry for the staff because they seem to be in a real hustle constantly. The prices are tourist prices; anywhere else I'd pay $6-7 for something that I end up paying $12 for here. It is what it is. read more
