Located right in Newport on the water, this is a fabulous place to enjoy a coffee with a friend. I got an iced latte made with almond milk and I loved how the barista added a little foam on top (I'm not used to that on a cold drink) My best bud and I sat outside at a little table and had an awesome conversation while watching the sailboats come in the harbor. I visited this shop on the Fourth of July 2019 and have never been back. The fireworks in Jamestown had just started and my friend and I walked down the pier to get a treat and watch the show. I sat down, my friend got in line to order for us since the line was quite long. Suddenly, in front of everyone sitting at the coffee shop outdoor area and surrounding dock area, I heard a woman SHRIEKING "THE SEATS ARE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY. YOU NEED TO BUY SOMETHING OR LEAVE." I turned to my surprise to see the shrieking woman was yelling at ME. (I think she may be an owner as I have seen her here before). Shocked, and absolutely humiliated that everyone was now staring at me, I got up and walked away, my friend who was in line at the time following me. Were we not considered customers? Absolutely disheartened by this and clearly haven't stopped thinking about it since. Will not be back. Besides being the most overpriced place to buy coffee on this island, what absolute terrible and humiliating customer service. DO NOT SUPPORT. read more

Do not waste your time with this coffee shop unless you want to spend a lot of money for horrible coffee. I went there for the 1st time today to try something new. I spent over $15.00 for 2 large lattes and had to throw both out because of how they tasted. Worst coffee I have ever had. When I called and spoke with the owner she could not be bothered. So once again do not waste your time with this shop!! Mokka coffee shop which is on Thames Street is absolutely wonderful and actually charge a fair price for their products. Such a cute coffee shop run by a very sweet woman. It's tucked away in the back area of the shops but you can't miss it or the smell of the fresh coffee. Plus, you get a great view of the sunrise or sunset. There is a decent amount of seating available either on the dock or the seats provided by the shop. Everything is reasonably priced (tea, coffee, pastries, savory bites, clam chowder, etc). I would recommend coming here for a quick fix :) read more

What a great place! The coffee shop is TINY, but don't let that deter you. We were there on a cold, cold day so we were lucky enough not to have to wait in line for coffee. The owner was super friendly and answered all of our questions. The menu was substantial and I'm sure she would make you a special order if it wasn't on the menu and she had the right ingredients. Most overpriced coffee I have ever had in my life. Their sizes are extremely small. The "medium" size here was just about the size of a small size anywhere else. Owner is super sweet and nice. A cute stop in the lovely downtown area of Newport. There's limited seating, but we were there on a rainy day, so it wasn't hard getting a spot. There's a couple tables inside, though it's pretty packed in there. There's also a few tables outside that overlook the wharf. We stopped in here on our recent trip to Newport for some coffee and we were very glad we did. The place was small but adorable and I absolutely loved the waterside views while sitting next to the window enjoying our coffee. The most overpriced place I have ever been to ever and I live in NYC, so I am very used to high prices. $37 for each of us to have a small coffee or tea with a pastry each. We could have gotten a full hot breakfast for less than that and our sit-down lunch a couple blocks away was less than that! She said the "homemade muffin" which looked and tasted an awful lot like the Costco muffins were $7.99 each!!! How in the world is a muffin that much? And the scone and bagel were around $7 too. The only reason why this place received any stars is because of the location. It's a perfect spot but the service is awful. The lady (who I'm assuming is the owner) was very hostile and rude towards me. She went on and on bragging about how her coffee is so much better than any other coffee shop, which I didn't think that it was. I unfortunately had to give this place 1 star because it wouldn't allow me to to give it a ZERO. Go across Bowen's Wharf to Starbucks. Not worth it at all. The barista with the hoarse voice needs to just make coffee and keep the unnecessary commentary to herself. My wife asked her opinion on a flavor or chai and her response was "who's drinking it, you or I?" She then proceeded to school me because I wanted my "hot chocolate" on ice. Didn't think it was a strange request thinking they made it with cocoa. That's when she said "so you want a chocolate milk?" I said sure I guess that's basically the same but made with cocoa and whatever fancy way coffee places make hot chocolate and she then told me "no, I make it with Hershey's syrup". I don't have a problem with that. Just not sure why the additional convo. You can either do it or not. Anyway don't go here and waste you time. She's clearly someone that needs a job in a sub cellar rather than dealing with customers directly. Talk less. read more

My wife and I used to like coming here for clam chowder, but now we agree with other recent reviewers saying that the place is overpriced and a tourist trap. We came here last week and ordered a large clam chowder and 2 glasses of tap water. The total came to $12.54. The chowder had ample clams in it, but it was not a hearty chowder (hardly any chunks of potatoes). Moreover, it was a skimpy portion for the money and we were apparently charged for the tap water. What place charges for tap water?? To make matters worse, we were given a very small amount of tap water, and the owner (Alyssa) told us she melted some ice cubes in the glasses because Newport tap water tastes lousy. Actually, her melted ice cubes tasted foul. When we told Alyssa that we were disappointed, she was defensive. read more
