We were looking for coffee and small bites for breakfast and were very happy that we came here. It is a small space and can get crowded really fast; we happened to come in right before a huge crowd arrived. The iced coffee was strong and deliciously flavorful. This place would have been three stars if the gentleman behind the counter hadn't been there. The woman who took our order was very snarky when I mentioned that I worked at Starbucks for 18 years. "Well, we're not Starbucks" was not only unnecessary but lost you a larger sale (I was going to get some roasted coffee and a drink for myself, but instead just let my kids get a drink). Really good European style coffee albeit a little bit of a tourist trap. The best thing is they had oat milk. This place seems to roast its own brand of coffee beans which is a bit on the dark side, and had too heavy of an aftertaste. For a coffee connoisseur as I, the venue seemed to serve a bit over-roasted coffee which main menu items having a lot of sugar to cover the fact of inferior coffee beans. Yelp pointed us in the right direction again! Based on the reviews I read, we decided to give them the opportunity to impress us. Well, impress us, they did. Their shop is small. Not much seating is available. We were lucky to grab two spots while we there. Did not want to eat outside because it was raining. #1 on my list to try was their Lobster Roll!! Found it hard to believe that a tasty Lobster Roll could be found in a coffee shop. Have to say that it was one of the best Lobster Rolls that we have ever eaten anywhere! The butter toasted roll was filled to the rim with delicious knuckle and claw lobster meat! Clam Chowder was also very good. Went well with the Lobster Roll. Both of them were the best we had on that trip to the East Coast. Cadillac Cooler. What a refreshing name for a beverage. Coffee Hound is home to this wonderful drink. It is blueberry soda that is blended with lemon sorbet, and it is topped off with whip. Does not disappoint and is also a must try!! While strolling on Main Street in Bar Harbor, my friend and I encountered this cafe by chance. What really attracted us was their smoothie and coffee drinks. We immediately bookmarked this place to come back the very next day. And yes, We returned the very next day for breakfast, we ordered the Blueberry Pie, Lobster Rolls, Clam Chowder, Smoothies, Cadillac Cooler, Lemonade, Iced Coffee, and the Acadia Turtle Mocha. To my biggest surprise, the cafe's food was amazing here! If you love blueberries, the Blueberry Pie and muffins are just for you. Fresh Wild Maine Blueberries aroma in each pastry and it tasted very homemade; which was a major plus. To me Wild Maine Blueberries have a distinct earthy taste and much more flavorful than other blueberries I had before. Lobster Rolls were incredibly delicious and was loaded with lobster meat. The roll may appear to be small but it is so buttery and so good. I loved that the lobster meat was not overly mixed with creamy mayo, in fact its light and taste much fresher. It does not need to load up on condiments to make it taste better because the natural fresh lobster meat is already good. Clam Chowder had the right thickness and clams' natural sweetness that simply makes one cup not enough. Lemonade drinks are fresh and lemony, add the mango in and you have just created the best summer time drink. Iced coffee is strong in flavor and can keep any all-nighter like me up! Acadia Turtle Mocha is one of their specialty drinks. Hazelnut and caramel infused with mocha. It is so tasty and I can't help but have to overlook the amount of calories that I will be consuming! Coffee Hound is a fantastic breakfast stop before leaving Bar Harbor. Staff are extremely friendly and very eager to strike up conversations with us. Great drinks, great food, and great people. Delicious!! I had the flat white and asked for some local maple syrup as my sweetener. This place was so good and if we had stayed longer j would've come more often. The coffee menu was amazing and had a plethora of options in cold & hot coffees with a touch of local flavor. It was a small location and more of a take n go feel instead of a hang out and work on your laptop feel. The decor was true to its name: decorated with a lot of dogs drinking coffee on the walls. Came to Bar Harbor on vacation... searched this place out because of its yelp reviews. Every one here is very friendly. The lobster roll was really good and the crepes are AMAZING!!! I'd checked this place on Yelp before arriving, and so had to put the claim that it was the best coffee in town to the test. It's pretty small, just a long streak shoehorned in at the end of a row of shops, so there's not much in the way of seating. If the weather's nice, you're best to take away and sit in the park across the street. They do a pretty mean lobster roll (after 3 days in town I am of course an expert on the subject, right?), with plenty of filling. The coffee I would rate at 4.5 stars on the US-Glasgow coffee comparison sliding scale that I've just this second invented, that equates to 3 Glasgow stars. Still the best I've found in Bar Harbor though. read more

My favorite is granny Keegan's famous lobster rolls, OMG soooo good! I usually stop in and take one to go before my afternoon hikes. Super dog friendly, super people friendly, everything you could ask for *except outdoor seating). When I was ordering my coffee, I also bought a Coffee Hound sticker, except they were out. The barista even checked in her car for an extra one, nope. But, all was not lost for me, they took down my address and when they got some more in stock, they sent me not one, but TWO, Coffee Hound stickers. By far the BEST coffee place in Bar Harbor (and surrounding areas). I actually came here twice in ONE day! The first time I got the maple leaf latte which was absolutely full of flavor and you could truly taste the coffee too!! My husband got the moose tracks mocha and it tasted like smores in a cup. After hiking Acadia we came back later on before dinner and shared a Jordan turtle which was delicious and the best part was the traveling blueberry pie! That was pure delicious! We are looking forward to enjoying this coffee place again when we come back to Bar Harbor/ Acadia. Highly recommend!!! Every time we visit MDI, we make a point to get Coffee Hound Coffee every single day. We love everything about them from their friendly staff, delicious brews, & of course their baked goods. Most recently in September 2022 we stopped at The Stadium/Coffee Hound every day during our stay for coffee & their amazing popovers which beat Jordan Pond House popovers by a mile! As we strolled through Bar Harbor we'd often refer other passers-bys to your business when they asked were we got our coffee or popovers. Now that we're back in PA, we still make a point to enjoy Coffee Hound whenever we can...but we're looking forward to visiting in person on our next trip to Maine. read more

This is one of the best Flat White and hot chocolate we've ever had. They got the Flat White recipe from a Barista in Melbourne Australia and the hot chocolate is their own blend of chocolate. The staff was quite pleasant and accommodating. read more

Wonderful coffee and exceptional service. Warning however: they have made the coffee served by our accommodations (which I previously thought was decent), no longer acceptable aside from the caffeine jolt to get me out the door. I'm also not a picky person about my coffee either! I guess I just never had really, really good coffee before in Bar Harbor. They are the real deal- Main owners and I've seen many of the same staff each year, so they are either locals, or have decided to come back every summer. My husband and I visit Bar Harbor each year and they always remember us and genuinely seem happy to see us. They really care about their customers and are very passionate about their coffee. It's a small place so it could seem very crowded- but they keep service very fast and even a long line moves quickly. I highly recommend this place, so do not let a line deter you. Their coffee is priced the similarly to what you'd expect at a larger chain who shall not be named, but I find the coffee here is so much smoother and has a very nice "rounded" taste (again, I'm not that picky or a coffee connoisseur) - but I like the coffee from the Coffee Hound much more. Their rewards program is also amazing! We earned some free coffees and even a specialty drink just from one vacation. I purchased one of their reusable thermoses and they give you a free drink with purchase- even the specialty drinks! I got a mocha with all the fixings-sometimes I choose to drink my deserts :-) The thermos was of surprising quality. It keeps my coffee hot for hours (great for a nice warm up on a cold day) and is leak proof (also lovely for hiking- just toss in my daypack and go!) Please give the Coffee Hound a try. I have no investment/stake in the company, except I'd be super sad to see them go. Their product and service is just that exceptional that it warranted my time to write a review. read more
