I love the food and all! But certain areas inside (coffee lovers) smell like second hand smoke (near the window) since people smoke near the window outside. And even though people may smoke outside the air or the smell drifts me where the areas near the smoking area smells like ash tray. It's unfortunate. The prices are pretty cheap and affordable for anyone and I love the choices. They could do a better job with the decor but it is what it is. It's a great place to gather with friends, family, and meetings but the smell. They must have a smoke free environment PERIOD. read more

Needed to get a coffee before hitting the road. Ordered a latte and a mocha and both were a complete disappointment. The latte was so burnt and extremely hot that no matter how much sweetener I added it was still bitter. It was also very thin like they have no clue how to heat the milk to give it a little body. The mocha fell flat too. The coffee was also bitter that it over powered the chocolate taste. Also very hot that you could not drink for almost 30 min. Coffee Lovers is just a quick drive-thru stop on the way to work for me when I need a little boost. I always order an iced Vietnamese coffee for $3.75 & usually one for my friend as well (lately it's a double shot). I've never tried their avacado shakes yet but friends have told me they are some of the best...& it's not just the avacado ones either. As far as food goes...I haven't tried it. Service: B-ish. I always get what I ask for but sometimes everyone is just stand-off-ish or overly busy to be attentive. No biggie since I've never had an issue with my order. EEEK! I would have given this a 5 star review.. for their awesome Blanca Mocha with pearls... but damn, after having my Vietnamese Sandwhich come out of my mouth can we say... FOOD POISONING?! Coffee Lovers, it brings back so much memories. I worked her when it first opened probably 10 years or so ago. It was the place to be, it was packed every night. People were lined up at the door waiting for seats. It has died down a lot since then but still a great place to go if you want a quick bite and a yummy smoothie. Ok the place seriously look like it need some rennovating. What i do like to eat there is their vietnamese sandwich. I think out of all the sandwich places, coffee lover has the best vietnamese sandwich. The onlee problem with it, is that its small so your probably end up eatting two to get filled. The four stars for the avocado shake only and the fast service for the drive though. My dad love the avocado shake there the cup is petty huge for $5 dollar and it take them less then a minutes to made it. But the customer service was disappointing because I didn't get my order on time but instead they forgot about my sandwich. After waiting 30 minutes I had to ask them about my sandwich. This is a great place with kids. But there are things that needed improve. The place needed to remodel. The place looks too old and the dishes & cup needed to replace.... looking dirty! I am a huge fan of Tuna sandwiches and this place makes the best!!! Just the way they put everything together and how they add these delicious tasting sprouts in with all the other goodies - complements the tuna so well! They seem to add just the perfect amount of mayo, salt, pepper, and relish making the tuna taste sooooo goood. Love how they throw in a crunchy pickle and some chips to your order too. Especially since I like to munch on things between bites. Add a super refreshing Strawberry Lemonade to youre order and you'll end up with a very VERY satisfying lunch =) read more

I live close by Coffee Lovers and I would always drive past by it. When I plan on meeting with my friends to catch up with life, they'd suggest Coffee Lovers for its convenience and it closes at midnight. I had their hot chocolate and it wasn't bad. The management is pretty laid back that we'd stay outdoors past midnight and unwind the night away (latest at 2am). I recently tried out their sandwiches with my cousins and I had the Chicken Avocado sandwich for $6.25. Their sandwiches is around the same price range. They mistaken our orders and gave my cousin my order when he ordered the Pacific Tuna Sandwich. When his order arrived, we traded our half portion since he ate mine on accident. Both sandwiches were pretty good with ruffle chips and a wedge of pickle on the side. They charge a canned soda for $1.50 which my cousin thought it was expensive since you can get a bottled drink at that price. It's a casual place to hang out and socialize with your friends or find some students coming here to study. read more

I feel a little shady posting a "YELP" but I love this place and I've never stepped foot inside its door. Yet, this place has become one of my favorite sandwich places thanks to me bf. He's the one who introduced me to this place. I tell him what kind of sandwich I want and then he picks it up and brings it to me - magic. Anyway, i love their sandwiches and it seems like they put such care into their orders. I always get a pickle spear, a neat and cut sandwich and crunchy chips. I went here expecting something much nicer than what it is. Maybe the outside deceived me, I dunno. I brought some work with me that I planned to do while I ate my lunch - but the minute I stepped in there I knew that I wouldn't be there long. It was freezing in there! In the middle of the December I couldn't understand why all of their doors were open!?!? Even their employees were wearing coats. The whole ambiance was WEIRD. There were a few business-type people sprinkled throughout the place. It seemed like there was something else going on there - and not just sandwich and smoothie making! There is also an upstairs tha leads to God knows what and this also seemed like an "up-to-no-good" tip for me. I'm not a technical person, but I could tell that there TVs were awful. The tables were dirty. I asked if they took credit cards and they said no and pointed me to the ATM machine. Maybe I wasn't clear or maybe she didn't understand me, but when I went to order I saw credit card symbols on the top of the register. Hm? Anyway, I still love their chicken and avocado sandwich...I had a yummy mango smoothie....but with taking in the entire place I now second guess the food. Gosh Darnit!!! I came here often with my roommates during my first yr attending SJSU, but I don't come here as often as I use to any more. Why is that? SERVICE. They're service sucks. Yes, they have a "convenient" drive thru window but it's a hassle when they take your order from the window and asks you to go inside to pick it up. Her English wasn't clear so we thought she told us to "go around". Scratching our heads of what she meant, my friends and I ended up just parking the car and waiting close to the drive through window. Then 10... 15 mins had past and no lady with our orders so we decided to go in. The lady then rudely told us she said to go around to the front entrance and she'll hand us our food when it was ready. Then she said she waited 10 mins for us! Well, duh.. it would have been shorter if she didn't make us go inside and confuse us. What kind of drive thru makes you go inside to pick up your order? The whole point of a drive thru is so our lazy butts don't have to get out of the car. There's also times where a line would form and we would have to move our car forward a bit so they can get the orders of the people behind us. Then they'll personally come out and hand us our food. I guess that's pretty nice of them, but so inconvenient on their part. I really think the whole asian food drive thru is a tough concept to pull off. Either that or hire more workers so making the food will be faster. I also suggest not going here often, because they will remember you and make comments. My old roommate was lazy about cooking and came here often and the lady said to him "you don't cook do you?". Not sure what kind of tone she gave him, but him not cooking is really none of her business. And because of that remark, he rarely came back. There goes one customer they lost due to service. Now about the food. When I use to come here often, I would order their beef rice plate which came with tender beef and veggies with some sort of spicy soy sauce. Very yummy, but oily so I eventually stopped ordering that. Portions are pretty good too if you're not a big eater, but big enough to fill you up where you're not stuffed, but not hungry either. Their, I think, French sandwiches are pretty good too. I usually went for the Turkey Mozzarella sandwich, which is pretty good and tastes healthy. It comes with Ruffles chips and a slice of pickle. The sandwich isn't really big (good snack size for some), but it's a good size portion if your weight is a concern. Oh and one last thing. I heard rumors of this place's 2nd floor is (or was) a "massage" parlor. I don't know about that.... but it's an interesting rumor. Four stars STRICTLY for their "Banh Mi" and avocado smoothie. Ironically, I don't go to Coffee Lovers for coffee. I go here for the avocado smoothie and Vietnamese sandwich/ Banh Mi. They have the best Banh Mi in town! It is better than Lee's, Huong Lang, and Saigon Sandwiches... combined! The ingredients are FRESH. The place is pretty clean, and the Banh Mi always looks so neatly packed and presentable. The bread is a french roll toasted perfectly - not too crunchy, flaky, or soft. I always come here when I'm craving a Vietnamese sandwich. You don't feel guilty after eating the Banh Mi here because they don't slab on layers of Mayo and who knows what. They put the right amount of everything and I always have to stop myself from getting a second order! Also, the workers are really friendly, and they always have on a smile. Although this is somewhat "cafe", I don't recommend studying here or meeting up for coffee with someone. It's too noisy with all the television sets going on and packed with old Vietnamese men conversing way too loud. read more

Old school Vietnamese sandwhich and coffee place with tastey sandwhiches and coffee. Big space inside. A little dated looking but not dirty or ghetto. I was there at 830am and the place was already buzzing. The employees are actually very nice, unlike other vietnamese restaurants in this area where I've had run-ins with some extremely rude and ghetto people which shocked me, someone whos very familiar with little saigon OC. 9 bucks for a vietnamese sandwhich with egg and a cafe sua da. Chai tea was amazing! It's a little warm inside for my comfort but it's nice and quiet on a Sunday and the sandwhiches are pretty decent. Love the drive through and location and prices are decent compared to starbucks. I've been coming here for over 10 years. The quality of their food and drinks has not changed a bit. You can't really depend on the combined star rating. I recommend the mocha Bianca! It's waaaaay better than Starbucks no doubt about it! If you're going to order food, it might take awhile. So try calling ahead and then picking it up at the drive through! That's what I do when I don't have time to make food for myself. It's quality food and none of that nasty junk fast food. It's really a must when you're in east San Jose. read more
