Banh Mi sandwiches all look pretty good and tastes great hovering around $8.50 each. Snacks and beverages are always fully stocked in the mornings, but those small items are usually high priced. Excellent customer service this week. Cashier is always detail oriented and treats customers well. I am beginning to make regular stops here to pick up food items when visiting Vietnam Town San Jose. I ordered number 1 and number 2 (Lynda Special Banh Mi & BBQ Pork Banh Mi). Never disappointed here. Their sandwiches aren't huge, but they're packed very well and bread is easy to bite into. Must give them credit for excellent customer service and everything always looks good in presentation. I also purchased two packs of fresh coconut pandan jelly desserts $6.50 each. I originally came here because of a TikTok video that I seen that the gentleman was saying that this place slept on and underrated and their bread was supposed to be super soft compared to Duc Huong which is across the street so I went to try it and they only accepted cash which I forgot so I had to come back a whole another time with cash because I wanted to try what I've been hearing about this place. To start I asked them if they could put a lot of cilantro and jalapeño in it I would pay extra, but I like a lot of cilantro and jalapeño in my sandwiches when I receive the sandwiches, they were super small and tiny portions and barely put any cilantro and jalapeño in it, which wasn't that big of a deal, but the bread was super tiny and real crispy and stale. I thought maybe it was an off day because some people have their off days, but I went onto yelp and seen that everybody was saying the same thing about the bread being crunchy and harder not like the TikToker said that it was super soft and different from other places. I looked at pictures on Yelp from post previously and it looks like they changed their bread or use a different bread that is cheaper than before is the only explanation. Very small portions especially for the price. I definitely would go across the street to Duc Huong for better flavor, portions and bread. I recently moved to Sacramento and they have another location out there for.Duc Huong and it's the same owner, but they have super soft bread. In my opinion it is the best Banh Mi I have ever had and would recommend if you're ever in the Sacramento area to try it. A few people online said this place was better than duc huong - my favorite place for banh mi - so decided to give this a try on a saturday at noon. It's a small storefront with snacks, you can walk up to the counter to place your order. There's more variety on the menu, so that's nice to see. Food came out in 10 minutes, so service was quick. However - For a similar price, the portions were much smaller, and flavors were nowhere as good as duc huong. The bread didn't feel as fresh, and was harder from edge to inside. We ordered the Lynda special, grilled pork, offal (ears), and tomato xiu mai. The Lynda special was pretty dry, the grilled pork had an overwhelming ginger flavor and lacked the chargrilled aroma, the ears were okay, and the tomato xiu mai did not really taste like tomato. Just found out about this to go place last year. I have been to their other location in SoCal and their sandwiches here in SJ ARE just a good. The store is very neat and straightforward. The slim and crunchy baguette takes my taste-bud to heaven. Having to try only Lynda Sandwich and another location near my house, together with several visits on Yelp Photos! I found that LS is one of the rare gem that offers baguette instead of the French or Italian rolls - short what I call 'fat bread'. I really love baguette due to its smaller, easier biting size, as well as usually it is served only half. Half a baguette is the same as a full 'fat bread'. But, the 'fat bread' has two heels that nobody likes to chew on vs one heel in the baguette. So far, I have been eating several number 1 and 2 because I like meat. Their meat is tasty, chewy, and fatty. The combination of savory melt in my mouth. I always finish one. Also, even with reheat, banh mi keeps it texture and taste perfectly. I have been curious about this place since they first opened. I regret visiting this location. So many good banh mi competitors in the area and today must have been the worst day to try them out. They didn't seem busy when I went in there so I ordered a Lynda Special and a Xíu Mai. There was no signage saying this establishment only takes cash but luckily I had some spare change handy. I cannot believe my fellow Vietnamese women treat me like this. I gave them money to try their food and I received my order from the trash pile. Read it again. My order was in the trash pile. I waited over half an hour seeing people who ordered after me claim their order within minutes. I still had my receipt and they took it away and disappeared into the kitchen. I did not leave the store while waiting. They came out and called me crazy, claiming I took my order already. Another lady took out the paper bag containing my order from underneath a bunch of recycled trash and still had the audacity to serve it to me without an apology. I will be in contact with the San Jose Food and Health Safety Inspection unit to investigate this matter.
