The employees at this coldstone location are by far the nicest I've ever encountered and ice been to a lot of mother effin coldstones. The ice cream tastes the same at every location so basically I'm reviewing the spot and the workers. The spots awesome! I go to st. I'm ashamed to say but I absolutely love Coldstone. I'm that guy who will drive a fairly long distance just to get my French vanilla with brownie and cake mixed in. If you haven't tried this particular mix you're mixing out on the fundamentals of life. On the other hand I don't understand how I end up paying about $10 for a small serving of this mix. I mean it's so freaking good that I don't care but I think that's pretty pricey. Also the lines at this location can get a little out of control so prepared to wait especially during the warmer days. I'm giving them two stars because I show up today at 4ish, which is not busy time of the week. And the guy who has made my ice cream, was being nice. I'm there for it's name of the store. Otherwise, it is a mess there. First of all, you see one side with a lot boxes and containers. Two female staffs have left with knowing there are three customers waiting (includes myself), and don't even care. They look like we are going to deposit our checks and go out to party all night. Where is customer services?!? The counter is not even clean before serving the next customer on line. It is not clean even after I have left. There is no spoon for my ice cream. So I have to ask for one, since there are plenty of napkins boxes with napkins in them. Am I suppose to eat my ice cream with napkins?!? Came here with a friend since we had time to kill after class. It was cold out but we thought what the heck. It wasn't packed or anything since it was 12 ish and ....its basically lunch time. But....yeah. The guy that was working was nice and told us to take our time, as well as that we can try a sample if we wanted. In the end my friend got his strawberry shake thing and said it was really good. I got a like it (small) coffee ice cream with mini chocolate chips. It's small but the guy gave me a lot , it passed the cup which is awesome. The coffee ice cream was really good, it was creamy and not too over powering of the coffee taste- just light/just right. I also love that the guy didn't put too much nor too little chocolate chips. When we were rung up the guy was nice enough to ask if we were st .John's students , sadly we are Queens college students and no discount for that. I order and they are out of a lot of the stuff they would normally have. Employees excuse was that the owner had not come in to the store in awhile. Staff seemed very racist or discriminating. My boyfriend and I with two kids which are all black entered this location & was immediately told to wait outside. There were not that many customers inside so we thought it was a social distancing method. Less than a minute later a large group of more that 4 WHITE PEOPLE were allowed to walk past us and let inside to be served. There was no apology for the inconvenience or wait when we were finally served. The entire staff made us and our two kids obviously uncomfortable. Real rating: 4.5 Service was a bit lackluster but holy shit is the IceCream deliciously unhealthy. I got the "Cookie Doughn't You Want" and it is absolutely destroying my diet. Sure it's $8.15 for a regular size cup, but the French vanilla ice cream is super thick. I do have to say that the chocolate chips are too hard, but the soft cookie dough makes up for that. Today for the 1st time I am giving this location 2 stars. 2 stars for being clean and friendly. I have ordered the same exact ice cream for 11 years from this spot and today it was sadly GROSS. I actually didnt know that was possible. The almonds I always add had no almond taste..we examined it under a light just to see what we were eating. I am an almond lover so I can taste an almond out of anything. They were hard as a rock, had no taste so I believe they were super stale and maybe even expired. Definitely love the ice cream here. Service is a little on the slow side and the last 2 times I came they didn't have the waffle cones I enjoy. The ice cream here is on the pricey side as well but you do get a quality product so I suppose it's all worth it in the end. This is a solid cold stone location. Yes, it gets pretty crowded and busy (especially when it's warm out), but I've gone dozens of times and never walked away unhappy. The workers are always very nice to me and never mess up my order (they even often give me the next size up without charge!) There isn't too much of a seating area, but there are about 3 or 4 small sized tables if you wish to sit and eat it there. The location is in a busy spot (corner of utopia and union) so it's not too easy to find parking, but I've never been driving around too long to find a spot. All in all, you can't expect it to be absolutely fantastic because it's still a chain after all, but it's really not bad if you go in knowing how cold stone is (very VERY expensive lol). Approximately at 8:30 pm, a young women with braided hair colored blue and yellow. She was dark colored skin wearing a ST. Johns shirt so I can imagine she goes to school at St. Johns. She asked us to stand out side due to 5 people being allowed in the store , due to covid policy. I have no issue with this, I am an ICU nurse who has worked during covid. My issue is she had three of her friends in the store, while my self, my girlfriend, and my brother were waiting outside in the cold. Her two friends were already done placing their orders, as well as paid for their orders. Instead of having common sense, good customer service, and acting like a professional. She continued talking to her friends for 15mins instead of telling them to stand outside to let me and my remaining guests come in. I don't usually write reviews but this needs to be addressed. She then told her other co worker to take us because she didn't which was also fine because I didn't say anything to her. Although the cherry on top was 3 more people entered the store while we were there making a total of 6! people. She didn't say a single word to the three other people who came in the store. My first-ever Coldstone experience was from my friends on my birthday 5 years ago. I was of decent age and they roared "You've never had Coldstone?!?!? Ok, we're getting you some Coldstone." I was instantly intrigued by the assembly line of ice cream mixers over the cold stone plate. And all those ingrediants lined up under my nose! Oh, which to choose?! We went with the At The Cocoa Cabana Banana (which is now no longer, i have to custom make it by memory) in a Gotta Have It size, it was one of the best tasting things my mouth has ever experienced xD Favorite ice cream alone is the Sweet Cream. I love cold stone, specifically I am obsessed with cake batter ice cream. The place is clean, there are seats and the staff are mostly young kids, friendly nonetheless. What irks me though is that it's summer now and more people are getting ice cream. The place is fully staffed, seems like they are able to handle the volume of people. But the line just does not move... I waited 45 mins for one cup of ice cream. I didnt want to abandon my purchase because I kept thinking the line is moving... but nope. It's like all staff member just stops serving in store customers because they're taking online orders. All of them are just packing online orders. That is so frustrating. Theres a store FULL of people but they have to drop everything to fulfill online order. It upsets me when you cant service people who are physically there. I asked the cashier, who was very nice and he said it's better to order on grubhub or ubdereats. I find that sad.... management should look into prioritizing and allocating staff and time appropriately to address a packed store. read more

The ice cream here is just okay - not mind blowing but not abysmal either. If you're a fan of blending lots of toppings into your ice cream and want to stay super close to St. John's campus, then this is definitely the place for you. Otherwise, this is just a convenient pit stop for dessert after dinner or shopping nearby. I usually order the Strawberry Blonde signature creation as I really like the combination of strawberry ice cream and graham cookie crust. I also usually swap out the whipped cream topping for something else. Today I swapped it out for gummy bears but I got chocolate chips instead which I really didn't enjoy eating with a fruity flavored ice cream. The whole thing irked me because the guy making my ice cream confirmed my order and said it back to me and still got it wrong. Whatever. This was the first time I made it out to Cold Stone in 4 years. I've never had a poor experience in all my times of being a customer here. I ordered a strawberry blonde ice cream in "gotta have it" size and it was portioned as if it was in a "love it" sized-cup. The ice cream was already melted and very sloppy, running down my cup and dripping down. I wasn't going to complain but I will never come back here and will make sure I let all my friends & family know of my experience and how unsatisfied I was with my order. Let me preface my review by saying, I have worked in the food industry, namely customer service/waitressing for YEARS so I am the most sympathetic when it comes to food workers. I came here on Mother's Day-this was my first mistake. The line was literally out of the door and the place seemed understaffed. There were four workers who were moving very slowly and without a sense of urgency despite the lengthy queue. When we finally got to the front of the line, I requested the lava cake. To my dismay there was no lava cake, I then opted for the yellow cake instead and a smoothie. After giving the man (who self-identified as the manager) SPECIFIC instructions he asked me both about the smoothie and my yellow cake ice cream again because he forgot. I told him my order yet again. I instructed him twice. He gives me a large tub (i have no idea why he gave this to me instead of the regular cake and ice cream packaging) and said he just used that but my order is inside. Thankfully, I started eating in the car and realized THERE WAS NO CAKE--after reminding him of my order. I was annoyed and stormed back into the store and expressed my discontent. He claimed that I gave him an attitude when he asked for a reminder about my order. First of all, that is NO excuse especially as a manager. Who trained you? That is AWFUL customer service. I then said i did not pay for this and he asked what I wanted to be done about this. Instead of rectifying the situation on his own, he asked me what to do. THIS IS POOR LEADERSHIP HOW ARE YOU A MANAGER?! He claimed to give me back my money for the ice cream but it is not showing up on my bank statement, which I will monitor closely for the next few days. This is a very popular location in queens. Overpriced. Ten times too sweet. On their sound system they blast top 40 music so loud it pulsates through your body, and when you ask them if they can lower it (there was no one else in the store at the time) they say they can't. On the plus side they did give me a cup of water to wash away the horrible sweet aftertaste of the ice cream. There is so much good ice cream in New York,. Even Mr. Softee is okay. I was there last night 7/11/18 and purchase the Like it (smallest size available) I went with the cream cheese cake flavor ice cream and wanted either white or yellow cake with white chocolate chips. I was sadly informed that there was no chocolate chips (there wasn't my previous visit either). I was informed that they hadn't had white chocolate chips in almost a year. My total cost was $6.96 for a small portion of ice cream that wasn't really what I wanted sans white chocolate chips. There's street parking which can be tough and the employees seemed nice and efficient. I did visit a little after 9 pm and it wasn't very busy. Only good experiences. Came here once right after they closed. At first they would not let me in. Then I spoke to the through the glass and said that I needed a cake for my friends birthday and they unlocked the door for me and sold me a cake. I will not forget this. Another time I came with my girlfriend right after hours and the door was locked. We were about to leave N.Y. and my girlfriend told them of our woes and lack of access to cold stone where we were headed off to. They unlocked the store for us and gave us a free ice cream claiming because it was after hours they could not sell it to us. They have amazing customer service and they have my loyalty. Now to get to the Ice cream quality. It is great! I love this place. The ice cream is so tasty and I love how they work the material right in front of you and make it so soft. I have long been a Cold Stone Creamery fan since I was introduced to this place years ago. Now I still come back whenever I am craving some ice cream and there is a willing driver. My favorite is and will always be : Cheesecake ice cream with Oreos mix-ins. But what can I say? I like what I like and this is the only thing I ever get here. I also love to see them mixing it right in front of me. Sometimes I'll get the biggest to-go size and I will see the person having a hard time mixing large quantity of ice cream and it might not get mixed evenly, but its ok. Doesn't turn me away from wanting more Cold Stone, that's for sure! And the employees are usually very nice. They also used to sing whenever you tipped them, but it hasn't happened for about 2 to 3 years now. :( read more
