Cold Stone is such classic fun - half the reason for me to come here is purely the nostalgia. This location is a bit worn through, but still serves up some delicious ice cream mixes. Good selection of flavors, but not extensive. If not for the variety of mixes, this Cold Stone doesn't have much of an "edge" compared to other gelato and ice cream shops up and down the street. This is a small shop with just a couple of employees at a time, so be prepared to wait a bit. There can be a line during peak hours. If you want to stay and hang out, you can find seating outside. Always a perfect idea for a nice hot day especially when LA was going through a major heatwave. This location is on a Main Street, Ventura Blvd but the entrance is kind of tucked away. We thought they were closed as it seemed like no one was there. It's your typical chain, same concept. Ice creams are mixed to your flavor of choice. Different varieties of flavors with lots of combos to choose from. There's also the freezer selection with cakes ready for purchase. Service was nice, friendly staff. Ice cream was great. My most recent visit wasnt the best experience. This is my local Cold Stone and I adore it BUT on November 27, I went in to surprise my sister with her fav Coffee Lover for her birthday. As soon as I walked in, only person, the two young ladies did NOT greet me until I said may I order? I ordered. I normally leave a 20% tip because I know allllll about the world of hospitality. But for two ladies to not greet the ONLY person in the store was a bit of dissatisfaction. They made my ice cream and because I did not tip. They did not provide me with a lid. I asked the cashier can I have a lid? She literally looked at me and said the lids are right there and walked away. Normally Coldstone ALWAYS make it for dining and whenever I do inquire for a lid, they place it on my ice cream. because I did not tip, that was her response to me. A bit rude. My bf saw that there's a special flavor being featured the banana pudding! So we decided to give it a try for ourselves. Upon entering the store, we were greeted by the lovely girls working. You can park on the street and there is a parking my lot that charges behind the store. There is an array of flavors and toppings, you can create your own, they have cakes and milk shakes and other desserts. The smell from the fresh waffles being made in the waffle maker filled our noses and made us hungry! I sampled the chocolate silk (dairy free) option and it was creamy and light. You select your icecream of choice, toppings, and it's mixed for you on the cold slab. I love that the icecream is so thick, creamy and indulgent. This is costly, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality. My only dream is that they carry more gluten free topping options! My bf didn't want to share his icecream, but the brownies are always a fantastic addition! Make sure to get a rewards stamp card and enjoy yourself. Once in a while, I want good ice cream I can depend on. Nothing fancy, artisanal (Salt & Straw I'm looking at you), just fattening, good old ice cream. For me, Cold Stone usually gets the job done. There was one not too far over on Pico, but after reading the reviews, I realize they are priced much higher here for some odd reason. The Like It size was a whopping $9, and this is their smallest offering! I passed on my craving, knowing I would be in a different part of town the following day. That happened to be Sherman Oaks, where the same size is $5.99 which is much more reasonable. Girls working there were great, and I did a basic scoop of French Vanilla and then chocolate ice cream, adding in cake mix. I wanted a lid, and I suppose they were out of that size top, so she put it into a larger container so I could get the lid. It was a rainy day out, but I managed to get a spot right outside on Ventura, and I had my craving satisfied, thanks to the girls at Cold Stone in Sherman Oaks! read more

I've been a fan of this place since it opened doors 20 years ago with the mind-blowing idea of hand-churning freshly made batches of custom ice cream, hand-mashed with your favorite mix ins (Chocolate chip cookie dough? Reese's. peanut butter cups? Kit Kat bars, snickers, fresh fudge, your favorite nuts, Reeses pieces, M&Ms, or maybe even your favorite Saturday morning cereal!) Their waffle cones can't be beat, they're made fresh right in front of you on a waffle grill, and they're freshly crafted ice cream cakes and cupcake confections are to die for. I particularly love the staff at this location as they're always upbeat, happy to whip up your deepest desires, and somehow always leave you feeling A LOT less guilty about downing their yum desserts ! There's a parking lot in back that they validate, if you can't find a spot out front (I often do, but just in case!)... and lovely outdoor seating under an awning to enjoy your favorite treats. While I have been here a few times before COVID-19, I will use this review to comment on some of the recent changes I notice on my visit yesterday. They had a sign on the door that talked about social distancing and the use of a mask while inside the establishment. The counter was sectioned off and a barrier was made using chair so that it kept 6 feet between customers and the employees. There were taped markers on the ground for reference. The rope barrier also ensured that no one would come up to the ice cream case and pressed themselves against the case. There were 3 employees that were masked up and attentive while I pondered my order. My sister and I ended up getting ice cream and we got my brother a smoothie. They also have ice cream cakes and as a child, I had a fair few of the ice cream cakes growing up because I was not a fan of regular cake due to the amount of frosting. As for the creations, you can get one of the signature creations or build a custom one. I am usually a fan of the oreo overload, chocolate devotion, cookie doughn't you want some, but I decided to try something new and got the Mud Pie Mojo! Omg, it was delicious! It is base with coffee ice cream and has oreos, almonds, and peanut butter mixed in. Definitely a new favorite!!!! I got it in a waffle cone, which costs $2 more but it was very filling and entirely worth it. I left highly satisfied. They also have a rewards program that you can sign up for via phone number so that you can earn points for different rewards on a future visit. When you first sign up you get a buy one get one free creation, which I think is definitely worth it for any ice cream/dessert addict such as myself! read more

We stopped here for some ice cream messing around Ventura Blvd. I ordered some Chocolate Vanilla mix with lots of different sprinkles in all. It was good weather somewhat for it. This is a better Cold Stone Creamery location, especially when the weather is nicer, you can hang out in front of the store where they have set up a couple of tables. It's fun on a warm night to linger over your ice-cream and people watch. Their ice-cream is rich, I prefer their Berry Berry Berry Good (love their waffle cone when they have it). I tried several flavors in the past - Cheesecake Fantasy, Strawberry Blonde, but I stick with my Berry Good, which is lighter and has more flavor. Just really disappointed. I love coldstones. It was my first job as a teenager. I come here so frequently that I'm really sad my last visit was this awful. It was 9:30 pm. Tuesday night, 8/10/21. 3 girls were working. I bring my 12 year old niece from out of town to grab some ice cream before we go to home after a day of showing her around LA. The place was a mess, looked REALLY dirty. The girls didn't want to mix in our toppings because the said they cleaned it already. Mind you, there was still a visible spot they didn't scrape off the ice cream from previous customer. Anyways.... my niece really wants ice cream , we order. They refused to mix In Our toppings. The entire point of ordering from coldstones is to literally customize your ice cream and have them mix in the toppings on the COLD STONE. Anyways. They placed the toppings in the bottom of the cup, whole. I ordered a peanut butter cup perfection. They forgot the peanut butter...and the Reese's were rock solid frozen from being placed on the bottom of the cup and I ended up trashing my entire ice cream. It wasn't good, at all.... They missed 2 items in the other ice cream I ordered to take home for my husband. A young girl with light brown hair in a ponytail (same girl that rang us up) forgot to grab a cup so she carried the scoop of ice cream (because god forbid she gets the stone meant for it dirty over 30 min before close time) with her to the back counter and dropped my nieces scoop of ice cream on the dirty counter next to the waffle cones. Tried to use her body to hide what just happened. Scooped it up off the counter with her HANDS And gave it to my niece. I'm disgusted....I will never come here again. Just horrified. Train your employees, this is a health code violation and just our right disgusting. I also asked for them to go. They overstuffed the tiny containers. Stuck a spoon in it And didn't give us lids. I was over charged. I still tipped because I have work in the service industry and I always tip. But I wish that I didn't. It was awful Oh!!! I loved this place. I've been here once before. Today I tried the strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries and gram crackers. It was like a frozen version of a strawberry cheesecake! I loved watching them mix everything on the frozen stone and watching it all come together. Honestly? It was very flavorful and it all went very well together. The environment was super relaxed and it was nice and quiet in there, but then again we have always gone at night when there weren't a ton of crowds. We will definitely make future trips there and I tend to try as many combos as possible. read more

This was the worst place to come to get ice cream! My husband and I came for a Saturday night dessert and the woman working looked miserable and not helpful and when I got my order the ice cream melted so fast and was never mixed in right. I really love the ice cream, (I mean how could you not). I've been going to cold stone for years in many states and the quality is always good. The girls I've met at this store or a pleasure, work hard and keep smiles up during a pandemic wherein they have extreme work environments. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I've order (4 times now) the mint mint chip and every single time have received the other mint creation with the Oreo cookie. I'm not an Oreo cookie fan (well, not in my ice cream that is) and I've been disappointed each time I get it home and it's wrong. I don't know if it's something wrong with the way the order shows to them or what (seems a tad odd it was wrong that many times in a row and with different employees) so I haven't complained, I have however started going elsewhere to get my ice cream so I know I'll get mint chip. I worked with the owner/decorator, Haleh to design a Minecraft themed birthday cake for my son's 9th birthday and it was such a pleasure to work with her. Haleh was very knowledgeable and kind. Not only did she help me design a beautiful and delicious ice cream cake, but she recommended the Minecraft picture to the printed on the cake and the cake toppers along with my son's name written in letters matching the design. She also agreed to meet with me at the store at my convenience to show me the cake size and decide together the placement of the cake toppers. All these services for a reasonable price. Haleh was also in constant contact with me throughout the design and creation process. The final product was spectacular, kids and adults alike loved the cake decorations and flavors, and it was the perfect ending to a Minecraft themed birthday celebration. They still got the Birthday Cake Remix and Strawberry Blonde; their signature mixes are on the sweeter side so the Like It size is usually more than enough because anymore I'd be in a sugar coma. Probably why I would never give a Cild Stone a 5 star rating. Lastly, their staff is quite nice.
