Great coffee and bagel shop. So many options for bagels! Lots of outdoor seating and plenty of college students hanging out. Great spot to meet up with friends.

A fairly quick review of my visit of a local spot recommended to me. I was visiting Syracuse this weekend for my nursing clinicals with my university at Upstate Hospital. Last day, my clinical instructor recommended a spot to order for our lunch break and that was Collegetown Bagels. This was a first coming from Texas and I am always open to try new places. Located on Syracuse University's campus, which I had no idea how close it was, we walked over there as a group. I decided to go with the Renwick Reuben, PB&Joe, and a cannoli. I thought this was a good representation of what New York is for breakfast/lunch. The Reuben was flavorful, lots of pastrami, tangy sauce, and rye bread was spot on. The PB &Joe I would have had it by itself. It really is like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich thrown into a coffee drink. The cannoli is a must, can't forget about it. Overall my visit to Collegetown Bagels was a great one. I definitely would find myself stopping in if I was local, working closely with by at the hospital or even a University of Syracuse student. It is unfortunately my stay in the city is not long but I would recommend it. Go to McDonald's? Go to Dunkin? Go to that questionable bagel shop? "Forget about it"

3.5 for this well-centered location in this college town, downtown Ithaca, and very busy. Bagels are slightly dense to my liking. It's a full ôn store necessary for workers and college students who live closeby. Therés enough seating but place looks like a store than just a bagel shop. Good service!

During a visit to Cornell, a colleague said we had to go to Collegetown Bagels and try the rosemary bagel (spoiler: I did not need up trying that one lol) It's about a 7 or 8 minute walk from the Statler Hotel, which was convenient for a quick trip over. We arrived around 12:30pm on a Friday and it was pretty busy, but by the time our group all got our food (there were about 7 of us) there were a lot less people inside. Normally I like to look at menus before visiting places and I do wish I did. I found myself very overwhelmed once I walked inside. There were just so many choices that sounded so good! You order at the farthest station, then work your way towards the front to pay. I ended up ordering the Parisian and an apple cider donut. The donut was good and the sandwich was very tasty. I would love to come back and try a breakfast sandwich, and the frickin chickin sandwich, which was the other sandwich I was thinking about.

Probably the best bagel place I've ever had. The service was quick, the staff gave great recommendations and although the menu sees complex it's very easy to navigate. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you get. We were visiting and went every morning for 4 days straight, time after time our tastebuds were blown away with great flavor. The atmosphere is great for everyone even though it's in the heart of a college town. Whenever we visit we will be coming here for sure.

    Californian dreamin'

Collegetown bagels sells more than just bagels: sandwiches, sandwiches, paninis, bowls, pastries, and coffee. We got the Brooklyn bagel, Californian dreamin' and cold brew. The bagels are decent, and I enjoy the flavoring of the rosemary salt bagel. I also enjoyed the Californian dreamin': simple, and filling. I would never have thought to put coleslaw in a sandwich and I'm a fan! Service is friendly and food took 5-10 min. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Order in the food line, and get given a slip to take to the cashier. You order drinks with the cashier.

Bagel with Honey Walnut Cream Cheese, Latte

Collegetown Bagel is exactly that, a cool College Town Bagel shop. Very friendly and helpful young staff, mostly likely college kids. The place has a great coffee shop vibe to it. Bagel was good, had the honey walnut cream cheese and it was as good as you can find anywhere. Could have used a bigger schmear but not complaining. Parking is a nightmare anywhere around Cornell, but that is what it is. Latte was good as well, hot and frothy.

Whole wheat bagel + whitefish salad
    Craig G.

Collegetown Bagels is an Ithaca institution, serving up breakfast sandwiches and more to hordes of locals, Cornell kids, and tourists for nearly 5 decades. We stopped in for breakfast for our last morning in town. For a Sunday morning, there wasn't too much of a crowd to fight through. I ordered a whole wheat "Long Island" (known to us down staters and out of staters as an 'everything') with whitefish salad and a hot Americano. The bagel came out pretty quickly but something was lost in the mix: the whole wheat everything was a whole wheat plain. While the whitefish was nice and pleasantly smoky, the bagel was proof that you just can't find a good NYC style bagel outside of NYC or the suburbs: it was too chewy and lacking a body of flavour.

The best BBQ I have had and I am from the south!…read more We tried the Full Texas (has all of the meats) with the potato salad, mac and cheese, cornbread, and a lemon curt tart. The tart was tangy, bright, not too sweet, and the bottom wasn't soggy at all. Excellent! As for the BBQ, all of the meats were so smoky and melt-in-your-mouth flavorful! I wasn't expecting to like the chicken, I typically go for brisket, but the chicken stole the show. It was moist and so full of flavor! Definitely my favorite! Closely followed by the brisket, then the ribs, then the pulled pork, and last, but not least, the chorizo/sausage. I also really liked the chimichurri sauce as well as the addition of pickles and pickled onions. They paired really well with the BBQ. I preferred the golden bbq sauce a over the classic bbq (sweeter and too smoky for me). Honestly didn't love the mac and cheese. It was a bit bland and would not recommend or order this again. However, the BBQ and everything else was so good that it makes up for the faults of the mac and cheese. Cornbread was solid- on the crumblier side and not sweet at all. I prefer my cornbread sweeter, but this was still good cornbread. I was pleasantly surprised by the potato salad on the other hand. I don't like potatoes in general because I find them to be too bland and chronically underseasoned. Much to my surprise, I rather liked this potato salad. I loved the addition of dill and green onions. This was really good with the BBQ. The interior is a bit lackluster and the building is unassuming. Everyone there was really friendly and helpful when deciding what to order though! Overall, I would highly recommend State Eatery! Incredible BBQ!

Super cute spot with lots of unique cider options and great cornbread/desserts!…read more We tried the Funkhouse, Sparkling Cab Franc, Fruit of the Bloom, and Persici (in order from dry to sweet). My favorites were the Fruit of the Bloom which is infused with ginger as well as the Funkhouse. I liked how crisp the funkhouse was and I loved the ginger note in fruit of the bloom. The others were okyay too, persici was very sweet but paired nicely with the ginger hazelnut baklava which was incredible! I am allergic to pistachios, so I loved that I could eat their baklava! We also tried the cornbread with strawberry and jalapeno butter- absolutely incredible. I am from the south and have had a lot of cornbread but this truly stands out. It came out warm with a slight crunch from the crust while maintaining the perfect crumb inside. Just crumbly enough and not too try! I also really enjoyed the jalapeno and strawberry butters- you can tell they use high quality butter, they almost reminded me of goat cheese. I preferred the jalapeno butter a tad more but both were great! The exterior is beautiful- the views are very nice. I would highly recommend coming on a warm day and sitting outside. We initially sat on the balcony but moved due to the bees. The tables underneath the white tent were shaded and bee-free. Service was pretty quick- our ciders came out almost immediately. We had to wait ~10-15 minutes for the cornbread though, but I didn't mind especially given it was warm! Overall, I would highly recommend!

The coffee is also delicious and didn't even need a flavor added. The man taking our orders the first day was also incredibly kind and you could tell he just enjoyed his job, or at least was happy to be there. There's also a mini shop here basically. There's fresh bread and prepackaged meals here like Shepards pie and fruits and veggies. There also was plenty of cute merch and I left with two designs. Two things that I didn't like. Ordering was a bit chaotic. There are labeled areas that show where to order what, but if it's your first time in it can feel overwhelming and you might be wandering a bit figuring it out. I wish it could all be ordered at one spot, not like it's a food hall. I understand that this probably does work the best for them though and is most likely pretty easy for ordering if you're a local. Lastly, I had an issue with a woman working the second day. They have a big menu and I was looking at it above her head while ordering. She was fine while I was talking, but stopped me when I went to walk away. She said "You know, you really need to face people while you're talking to them." What! So awkward and weird. That's the main reason I took one star off because it caused me not to go back again. Very rude and felt like a mini lecture for no reason.
