The first time we've ever eaten here we ordered with Postmates and the food was so fresh and so amazing we were extremely pleased! We have ordered 3 more times with PM's and can't wait to visit in house. I highly recommend! Been in the area over 20 yrs and we are just now finding this wonderful place. This was a cute little mexican place we used to go w my friends from ODU. Their margaritas were always pretty good! I usually came here for their margs and street style corn on the cob! Faux Mexican food. Lots of regulars here and the majority of them are people to want to hang out with except for the guy who told me the snow we got a few months ago wasn't really snow, but government-made snow that were dropped on by planes (and why the hell would the government do this?). The best dishes there are the mussels and the shrimp ($.39 jumbo shrimp every Thursday). They also make some kick-ass mixed drinks. Though it tends to be a bit noisy, it's one of my favorite hang outs here. They also have karaoke on Tuesday nights. I also recommend the Mexican grilled corn - the best corn I have had in Hampton Roads. I've many times tried to recreate it at home to no avail. One of the best things about this place: phone chargers. Short on battery? Charge it for free while you slowly get drunk! Evidently, they have a good beer selection on most days. The night I went was a different story. I had to ask for 5 or 6 different kinds of beer from the drink menu before I actually got one. The waitress didn't know what was and wasn't in stock, so between her checking and me ordering, I didn't get my beer for over 20 minutes. The food came out late. It arrived an hour after we ordered. Then our server wasn't very professional about dealing with the problem (she was nice, but not professional). When I spoke to the manager for the night, she wasn't professional either. The food was good enough. I enjoyed the fish tacos even though they were skimpy on the corn salsa that was supposed to come on the side, so one taco went without. I liked it better under the previous management. After San Antonio Sam's closed, this was my favorite happy hour spot. They used be known for their delicious $4.50 mojitos during happy hour when they also had cheap tacos and free homemade salsa and chips. Sure it was bar quality food, but it's a bar! Now there are no food specials for happy hour and the drinks are much more expensive. Even chips and salsa cost extra! The chips are very greasy and over salted. Ick. The previous owners didn't keep it as clean, but again that didn't matter much when it was a good watering hole. Now they're trying to make a restaurant out of a bar, but the space just isn't laid out for it. read more

Just stopped in for a quick lunch on the last holiday weekend. Ordered a burger and fries with their spiced corn cob thingy appetizer. The appetizer was wonderful! Corn on the cob covered with magically delicious spices and a thin sauce/butter coating. The burger was also very good, prepared perfectly. I only wish there were better tomatoes on it. Colley Cantina is one of my favorite bars in Ghent. The atmosphere is casual and the staff is very friendly. They will begin to remember you after coming just a few times. I recommend the Shashimi Wonton Tacos for an appetizer. The combination of pineapple salsa and cripsy wontons is surprisingly good! The entree portions tend to be very large so I typically order the fish tacos with the fish of the day. (2- 3 tacos). You can customize most of the tacos with your choice of style (toppings selection) and salsa. I recommend coming on Tuesday for Karaoke. No one at takes themselves too seriously so you can sing your heart out! read more

Bring back your old fries! I went a year ago and ordered fries. Got a basket full of seasoned shoestring fries and ranch. Was able to share them with my friends and the ranch was so good. They were amazing. Go back a couple weeks ago excited to relive that and get only a handful of the large zig zag fries that are unseasoned and barely salted. I could not share with friends because there wasn't even enough for me. I got double ranch thinking that I would need it to share. And the ranch was so watery and gross that I literally had to soak my fries in it in order to get any flavor. I got charged, of course, for the extra ranch that I couldn't even use. I do think they watered it down and its pretty messed up if they do. My sister also tried to order a drink off their menu and each one she chose, they couldn't make because they didn't have the liquor for it. After 3 tries, she just had to order a whisky sour. read more

A group of us went here for Taco Tuesday and to celebrate a friend's birthday. Upon walking in, the server rudely told us to "just sit down". Then, he proceeded to become annoyed when we weren't ready with our drink selection after not even having a chance to look at the drink menu. The menu was confusing as to how the special for $1 and $2 tacos worked, and our server refused to take the time to explain it to us. While I could maybe understand his dismissiveness had the restaurant been crowded, we were the only group there! Upon going to place our orders, things only got worse. They were out of ingredients and then rather than say something up front, they simply brought the dish out without the missing ingredients. Had I not known exactly what I ordered, I wouldn't have even known entire things were missing from my meal! Overall, what started as a fun idea to celebrate my friend's birthday, ended in us feeling completely scammed and mistreated. read more

Learn something new everyday! Let's see, what else... oh yeah, the service at Colley Cantina was horribly slow; the margaritas have no alcohol in them, and yet for some reason have soda water in them, giving them a funky, weird, and unwanted carbonated taste; and the food is mediocre (jalapeno poppers had more grease in them than both jalapeno and pop; nachos were aight, but then again it's pretty hard to screw up nachos; and the wings, while cooked well, were extremely underseasoned, with barely a hint of the sauce evident). This feels like one of those Ghent locations that has skated by throughout the years more on its name than on any reputation for decent food, drink, or service. read more

Dropped in for lunch during the middle of the week to try out their fish tacos. I ordered two soft tacos with tuna, cooked rare. The fish was seared perfectly, but the seasoning they used was overly salty in my opinion. The toppings and salsa were pretty good, with just the right amount of heat. Overall they offer decent food, but it can be a little pricey if you go for the fish. My meal ended up costing $25 for two, including drinks. read more

I had the pork tacos with flour tortillas island style, this came with a mango slice inside and fresh veggies. I paired it with their mango habanero salsa. The pork was moist and well seasoned and the habanero salsa gave it the perfect amount of kick. I had the blood orange margarita to drink. It was light and fresh, not too sweet, the perfect drink for sitting out in the summer. I also had the dirty jalapeno martini. This was the perfect amount of spice, enough to warm you up, but not so much that you couldn't enjoy the drink. I had visited here a few years ago before the management had changed out; the new Colley Cantina is much better than what I remember and definitely worth the trip. read more
