Decided that I was annoyed enough to write a review after all. First time at this salon and all of the positive reviews and images on IG convinced me to give it a shot. While the staff are all polite and patient, I am disappointed in the quality of the manicure. I got a gel manicure on 2/28... 2 days later, a couple of my nails started chipping, and I applied a clear coat in an attempt to save it. A week later and it's only gotten worse. After taking photos, the chip on one of the thumbs caused my hair to snag and pull when I was putting it in a bun. Thumb is now 40% torn from the base. I don't know if it's the shiny chrome design I requested that caused the chipping, but for $60 + tip, I would have expected this manicure to last more than a mere week, and to have felt a bit more pampered during the actual manicure. For comparison's sake, I've been to another local salon which offers a hand massage, lotion/oil treatments, and a gel manicure that has lasted significantly longer for less $. read more

Updating. My nail started to grow FUNGUS after my most recent trip here. My nails had grown out for a little less than 2 weeks. About a week in I noticed a green spot and thought it was a bruise. But it started to grow. When I went to the salon for a removal they kept saying it was a bruise and not to worry and covered it up with more polish rather than letting it breathe. Well I went to my doctor and he said it is a fungal infection caused by improper nail preparation in which the nail tech trapped moisture in when putting on the nail / unhygienic tools used. I have never had a fungal infection in my life. Will never be coming back here. Please be careful at this salon. read more

I have been searching for a stellar place specifically for pedicures and I've FINALLY found it. This hidden gem is located inside a plaza next to a hair salon. The decor inside is beautifully minimal, modern with a mix of Scandinavian style. They have various colors to choose from (one wall dedicated to basic polish, another for gel etc.). For my basic pedicure appointment, I met with Carol. She was so kind, personable, and attentive. The pedicure included the usual cutting, filing, leg massage and polish. However what stood out was how she took her time and was thorough throughout the process. Post Covid... they've added barriers between the technician and the customer for both pedicure stations and the manicure tables. All employees wear masks. Especially during this time, they check your temperature at the door and provide hand sanitizer. They also thoroughly clean each station after they've finished up with a customer. Very disappointed with my experience here. I had made an appointment two weeks in advance and basically got turned away because they had put the wrong phone number. Somehow they switched two of the numbers in my phone number and said they couldn't reach me so they had to cancel my appointment. Umi was so sweet and did a fantastic job repairing the damage the other salon had done. I went to this place because of the reviews. Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience. First, I went with Julie because of what I read and I felt that was a mistake. She just finished doing another person's nails. Then she started putting things away and organizing her instruments for the nails with the same glove from the previous customer! Considering people are being cautious because of Covid, i felt that was not sanitary at all. Once, she was done, she changed her gloves and started working on me. The bad part was she didn't wash her hands in between! Then, she cut my cuticle area on one of my fingers while she was removing the excess skin because she was going so fast. I bled! Very talented nail technicians. I have no complaints about the quality. The only thing that stops me from coming back is the price. Gel X averages between $45 to $50 in Northridge but they want $60. Their simple design price is pretty expensive. They charge minimum $3 per finger... It might not sound bad but it adds up so quickly $3x10=$30. SoQ does a decent job and they charge $45 for gel X and flat rate of $10 for simple nail design and flat rate of $5 for regular French tip.
