It's a shame because reading the other reviews, I probably had a bad technician, but honestly, due to the experience, I can't recommend this place at all. If you want to leave with bleeding cuticles, go for it, but that's not my style. First time I went in, the girl did a great job. I was stoked because I work right down the street. 2nd time I went in, I had a different girl and four out of five of my fingers were bleeding by the time she was done. I asked her to be careful twice. It pisses me off to no end when this happens because it opens you up to infection, etc. She was flat out just trying to go to fast. The massage chairs you sit in while being pampered are an extra bonus too ; o ) They do a GREAT job and care that you are happy.. I have been looking for a good, affordable and consistent salon in San Diego to get my eyebrows waxed since moving here almost 10 years ago! It was a complete fluke that I found Color Nails. I was in a hurry today and needed to find a place that was close to my house. Color Nails' Yelp reviews were good (for the small amount that were posted) so I tried it out and I'm so incredibly happy I did! I was immediately greeted when I walked in and they told me several times that someone would help me soon so I knew no one forgot me. Tara did a phenomenal job on my eyebrows. She took her time and was very pleasant. Will definitely be here again for my eyebrows and will also start getting my mani/pedis here too! read more

Very nice clean place, love love LOVE the massage chairs! Staff is very polite and friendly and have excellent customer service. The reason for 3 stars however is that It is fairly pricey. They do have a 20% store opening discount which helps a lot to make it slightly more reasonable, plus I would rather pay a bit more and get a quality mani/pedi in a sanitary clean environment. I also wasn't super thrilled with the shellac and pedi paint job. Shellac is dull looking and lumpier/thicker/darker in some areas then others. I also have a little paint on the skin near my fingernails and two of my toes nail polish have already chipped/smudged within an hour of leaving. Quite frustrating when I paid $85 (including tips)! Eye brow waxing was very good however and I liked the mini brow massage I got after to soothe the skin. read more

Services I get are always a gel manicure and spa pedicure. I've been going to Color Nails since 2013. Today is the first time I reviewed them. I never upgrade my spa pedicure, I just get the regular $18 as advertised on their board in front of the store. It is usually good, but today it was AMAZING! There is a gentleman that started working there about 4-5 months ago, who is by far my favorite. The last time I was there and the first time he helped me was about 1 month ago - he did my gel manicure and took such pride in his work - took his time and did things right. I appreciated the extra effort, his recommendations, and professionalism. He did such an amazing job, I didn't need to come back for about 3+ weeks! That is quality and value! He also took his time on a simple color change to my toes; couldn't ask for better service. Today, he did my pedicure - and the massage was SO good. It has been forever since I've had a really nice, focused and serious leg/foot massage during a spa pedicure. In my opinion, the more frequent a customer you are, the shorter the massage becomes; to the point where it's been just a 2-minute lotion application. But today's experience was great! He did a great job, and I immediately thought to give a great review. The whole team has always been good to me, and I would absolutely recommend this place to others. Just got finished with getting a spa pedicure and the skin on the sides of my feet are bleeding and have open wounds. The person who did my pedicure was so rough and scrubbed so hard that I now have lesions on the sides of both of my feet. It's quite disappointing considering I spent $72 on services. The level of service today was beyond horrible, usually the service there is great. Unfortunately that was not the case at all today. A spa pedicure should be relaxing, instead my sister and I cringed the entire time because the ladies were so rough. I shouldn't have had to pay that much for that low of service. It's ridiculous. I have been there so many times and this will definitely be be last time I come back. I'm going to recommend that the people I know go to another salon. read more

Got my eyebrows waxed in here and they did an AMAZING job. I've had them done other places and they are usually sore for at least a day, but just a couple hours later they feel back to normal! It is super clean and they have a separate room for the waxing so your flinching and or whimpers (if you have no pain tolerance) aren't public. Rather than just trying to get it done and shove me out the door, the gal took her time to make sure she did a good job. They take credit cards and give a military discount. I do love this place. I've had a couple of shellac polishes there, and the color has stayed and not chipped, their application techniques are top notch, they are super friendly, and HELLO tons of pedi chairs! Also, they have a really large selection of shellac colors, which can be hard to find. My only complaint is that their shellac color doesn't come with a manicure. It's $25 with NO manicure, strictly color. It's an extra $10 ($35) for a shellac w/ a manicure, highest amount I've heard of, most places include it. That is a definite star deduction. Would have rcvd 5 stars if they didn't charge so much for manure with shellac polish. Way over prices BUT the shellac manure I have gotten from them has stayed on for 3+ weeks with no chipping, peeling or cracking!!! That has bot happened anywhere else I have gone-ever and I use my hand to garden and clean. read more

I have been hopping around nail salons in the San Diego area for several years more so to find the right nail technician than finding the right salon. Well, for now I've stopped my search as I am very happy with Color Nails. I've only been 3 times so far and I've had Phoebe as my nail technician each time. She is very patient and cares a great deal about the health of my nails. She does take quite a while to do a mani/ spa pedi (with natural nails, no acrylic, solid color each time), but it's very much worth it. I've always had nail techs who try to get as many people in and out as quickly as possible and don't take a genuine interest in my nails. Beginning with my first appointment, Phoebe took her time in explaining the condition of my nails to me and recommending products that I should use to help them to be healthy. I felt this was out of genuine concern for the health of my nails, not to try and upsell products because they don't even sell the product there. I feel like my nails are much more healthy and strong since going here over the last 6-8 weeks. If I had one complaint about this salon, it would be about the spa chairs for the pedicures. In my opinion, they aren't that great. I feel like the massage and chairs could be a lot better, especially given that I sit there for quite some time, but that's just my personal opinion. It's definitely not enough to stop me from coming back! I can't comment on any of the other services offered here or any of the nail techs as I've only had a manicure and spa pedi with Phoebe. They seem pleasant though and always greet me when I walk in regardless if they are all busy. Seems like they have a decent nail color selection, but I always take my color in so I don't really pay that much attention to what colors they offer. The shop is clean, but nothing visually spectacular (my personal preference is a large, decorated shop)... two TVs that are usually on mute with closed caption... minimal selection of trashy magazines, lol, so basically a typical nail shop. I definitely would recommend this shop, specifically Phoebe, to people who are looking for a good nail technician and decent salon. read more

First time coming here. Only reason I came here was because it was last minute and I did not have time to make an appointment at my usual spot (Polish nail salon in mission valley). They do not have their stuff together here. I was seated right away in a spa chair. Waited 20 minutes for someone to even turn on the water. They don't use any soaking product. Just plain water. I soaked for another 15 minutes before a tech came to start on me. She got as far as filing my nails before her regular client came in and she got up and told me so win else would help me. I was blown away. Way to have customer service. I had to wait another 15 minutes before the other tech finished her pedicure. She rushed through the job. Poor work for $30. I don't recommend this place. I'm high on good customer service and I've been coming to nail salons for over 12 years. I know what good techs look like. If you want something well done drive up to mission valley and see Q or Tao at polish nail salon. You get what you pay for over there. I should have known better. read more

I don't think of myself as being too fussy, but I don't think they sterilize their tools, because I saw the person who did my pedicure take them to the sink, rinse them, and put them back in her toolbox. Now I just hope that my big toe is only a little sore, and not infected. (And cuticle oil used to massage my legs?!) read more

I walked in for a pedicure. They took me to a chair right away and started the water. The pedicurist was thorough but not rough, she easily spent an hour on my pedi and was so pleasant. The shop was clean and quiet and at $22 the pedi was more than worth it. I could not have been happier. read more

Best nail salon ever? Not even close! The girl that did my pedi practically cut the skin on my toe, used a nail file to sharpen her cuticle nippers & scrapped the bottom of my feet with the pumice thing. She also used the jets to scrub the pumice thing clean....ummm gross! Oh, and when I asked for callus removal they put my feet on a plastic bag, poured cuticle softener all inside & then soaked my foot in warm water with the plastic bag still on for 2 mins......and charged me $5 more for that? I went in for an eyebrow waxing, I went before so I thought everything will go smoothly..nope. First off, when I told them I wanted a waxing, they asked if I wanted a Mani and pedi too, I responded not today. They immediately started talking in a different language, obviously saying I'm "cheap". The person waxing my eyebrows was more interested in talking to her coworkers than working with me, letting the wax cool. She asked me if I do it myself sometimes and I said I tweeze the strays. She responded " oh..you messed it up." It looked fine, the reason I came in was because it was too much to tweeze now, not because I messed it up. She then went on to my other eyebrow, "oh I'll fix this one", as she tried to shape it. She then asked me if I was going to wax my mustache too. I was completely offended. Once she finished, I payed and it was done for the most part. I looked in the mirror of my car and they were so red. My skin isn't that sensitive, it looked like someone punched me. This was due to the fact that she let the wax cool. She also missed a lot of hair and left wax on my eyebrow! I went to the salon across the street and they took care of me.
