My friend and I had lunch here yesterday. I had the grilled octopus entree, and she had 3 different tacos. We also shared the guacamole. We each had a Bloody Mary and a different margarita. My octopus was delicious, and I tried her crispy shrimp taco, which was delicious also. The drinks are good and strong, which I like! Service was EXCELLENT! Drinks are way too sweet. We ordered margaritas and the purée they use is much too sugary. We also ordered the rock n roll "sushi" roll and it was way too sweet also. Too much eel sauce. I think this place has a good idea in that they want to provide more unique food choices than your typical Mexican food spot but they're missing the mark. It's as if they cover their food and drinks with sugar to make up for lack of flavor. Spend a bit more time tweaking the recipes of the food and drinks so you don't resort to drenching every thing in sweetness and in spice. They also add too much hot spicy sauce to everything and not all people can eat that level of heat, it ruined my food. I couldn't finish the pulpo quesataco. We left the roll it was too sweet. If you like sushi, REAL sushi, then this isn't the place for you. Also be careful they overcharge here so double check your bill. They use little screens to charge you and not paper receipts which helps them in getting away with overcharging as most people won't take the time to review the screen line by line. I'm giving them five stars because of their staff and service mostly, although the food is very good, too. We had a large group, but they accommodated every single request we made. Our party seemed to catch them off guard, but they adjusted on the fly and were just outstanding. The food was tasty as well. I had the carne asada plate. Flavors were good, but the asada was a bit over-cooked. I would have preferred they ask me how I wanted it cooked. The meal comes with a cheese enchilada suiza and it was very good. The refried beans were also tasty. It's a loud place, so don't expect a very quiet meal. I was too nervous to try it but the plates passing by looked really good so I was regretful we didn't order it. Next time for sure. We had 3 different styles of tacos. So impressed. Excellent flavor and the mix of flavors was amazing. Carne asada was not all fatty and greasy. Meat quality was great and seasoned perfectly. The service was excellent. I would only come here for their micheladas other than that the service was shit. I came to the place thinking it would be amazing because of all the good reviews. The first night it was okay. Aguachiles and the Michelada was great, the service was okay she was super sweet but spent most of her time talking to the guest next to us. I assume they were friends regardless she was there the whole time talking while we were eating. Thinking this was going to be our go-to spot we decided to come back the following day for happy hour. Our server was MARIO and he was HORRIBLE. I don't even know how he has a job here if his work attitude was so bland and rude. He made us feel stupid for asking simple questions. This time around the food was horrible and the "Asada" for asada fries was ground beef with taco seasoning. We get the check and see that our food was happy hour priced but the drinks were not. We addressed this with our server MARIO and he replied with "you guys asked if it was happy hour after you got drinks so you don't get happy hour price for your drinks only the food" which I thought was ridiculous. Made no sense so we called the manager and he kindly fixed it for us. Most likely won't be coming back or telling any of our friends about this place. Beware of their "Service charge" even when you have a small party. Waiter Daniel brought our 1st bill, not including the service charge. When he got our card, he added a $90 service charge for a bill under $250 for a party of 4. All we had were drinks and 1 asada plate. After calling him out, he said it was an error and then said it's the restaurant policy. Review your bill before handing your card over to your waiter.
