Why would you change the menu? My family used to order the chicken and waffle all the time and now it's gone? So when I order something new off the NEW menu the portions are terrible! Super small portions and small meat. After a long day/night at Six Flags, we found a delicious restaurant open after the park closed. Fuego was quite the surprise, and I'm already looking forward to going back soon! We were HUNGRY. The lines for food in the park were too long and the food did not look the best. Fuego only had a drive-up open which was fine and a smart move at that hour. The person taking our order was very patient, and we ordered far too much food. Their menu had only a couple of gluten free items marked including their Fuego bowl which was absolutely delicious. Great portion for such a reasonable price. I could eat that bowl everyday! Hubby got a Sweet Caroline taco on corn, kiddo got a brisket taco with macaroni and cheese which he devoured in 2 minutes, and we also got an order of guacamole and chips and a large order of tater tots. Zero complaints from the family. Everybody was silent. All I could hear was, "Yummy," and crunching. We also got the Hippie taco on corn which is gluten free friendly and delicious. I cannot believe the corn tortilla was gluten free! My kiddo raved about that tater tots saying they were the best he's ever had. Super crunchy and delicious. Easily could have just gone with one taco per person along with some guacamole and chips, but we have no regrets. Been here soooo many times and it's always so good. As a mom with two young kiddos the drive thru saves the day again and again. I love their fuego bowl especially, so yummy and such a great price for such a generous portion. They have the best fish taco I have had in all of SA! Service is always fairly fast and friendly. To be honest, tho I've been several times, every visit leaves me with the realization that my memory of this place is better than the actual experience. Not that this place is bad by any means, no not at all. It is just that is place is okay. Breakfast tacos are amongst my top foods of all times and my go to any chance they are available, which lucky for me, is 24/6 at Fuego. Are the tacos stand out? Eh, no not really. But they are serviceable. I typically will opt for potato, egg, and cheese tacos. Now what I will say is they are usually pretty sizable, which is great if you're eating on a budget (or picking up food after a night out drinking). I prefer their tacos to go rather than dining in as it gives the cheese time to melt and get all gooey. Their chips and queso are pretty dang good, I must admit. But a heads-up for their guacamole: it is loaded with cilantro. For some of you, you're stoked! For those out there like me who dislike cilantro, be forewarned as it was not a win. Service has always been fine-never anything that just blows me away but never any issues or problems to report and that includes ordering via the drive thru or dining in. Overall Fuego delivers big, fresh, hot tacos but the flavors seem to be lacking. In a town full of legit and incredible breakfast tacos this is unacceptable, but given they're open 24hrs a day 6 days a week, Fuego knows what it has and who it caters to and if that is you, enjoy! As for me, I'll most likely look elsewhere to fulfill my taco needs. read more

Extremely pleasantly surprised at FTG-SA! It's a little hard to spot but it's across UTSA boulevard from the Costco. Prices seem a bit high but the tacos are on the larger side, so it balances out. The service is friendly, and apparently this place runs 24x7 so you're sure to run into hungry college students at the odd hour. Their 'Rock Star' and 'Good Golly Miss Molly' are superb steak-based entrees, and their toppings like Roasted Poblano cheese are both delish and have some heat. Some of the offerings go a little overboard on the sauce and end up drippy, so order accordingly. Definite recommend if you're in the area. Never tried Fuego before but all I can say is that it's a better Torchy's with better portions and prices. I tried the campeche fish taco ($5.75), el presidente (chicken), and rock star (beef) tacos. All of the tacos had such generous portions and I loved the self serve salsa/pico topping bar. The fish taco had a lot of fish and was the cheapest - probably my favorite. El presidente was delicious with the fried avocado. I wasn't a fan of the flavor combination of rock star. Most of them used a mayo that got to be too overpowering but I could easily request for less next time. The staff was really nice too. read more

The menu reflects surprising flavor combos that play well together, like the Dr. Pepper Cowboy taco, which is my husband's fave: smoked brisket, grilled onions, Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, chipotle cream corn topped with jack cheese. Their poblano queso is blanco and always the right consistency. And their poblano mac and cheese has great flavor, although can sometimes be a little soft. People are friendly behind the counter, there is no table service, so that is nice when you are trying to keep to a dining out budget. my wife and i are huge fans of Fuego and have been regulars at this location for years. i'm finally writing a review though because the current night manager, i haven't caught her name, is phenomenally caring and helpful and fully deserves a shoutout. we're often ordering after 11pm but gratefully get to dine under her care because of that. the food is consistently delicious and fresh too, it's always such a satisfying meal choice regardless of the time of day. our orders vary between breakfasts, fuego bowls, mmmm south padre tacos--pretty much anything on the menu--and is easily the most consistently delightful food of this caliber. if i'm being fully constructive, i would say the one drawback is that some items aren't filling enough to be priced as they are, but i can also say that a good amount of options are priced appropriately to size. it's all incredibly delicious though, and once again, this is a special thanks and shoutout to the night manager!! and management styles like hers too read more

I'm a Fuego fanatic. I'm so happy they have a location in San Antonio!!! They had one in College Station and my friends and I were there allll the time. They're open 24/7, but somehow remain clean and have friendly service. Bonus - they have a drive thru too!! I've been enjoying Fuego since 2015 and I always get the Loco Pollo taco, it's the bestttt. The Loco Pollo has char-flamed chicken, smoked bacon, frijoles, and roasted poblano queso. When the menu said homemade tortillas...Count me in!!!! They have corn tortillas also or you can just skip the tortilla to save carbs. No problem. They can take care of that for you. I tried the Fuego Steak and Fuego deluxe tacos as there was a star next to it on the menu indicating it was a local favorite. The tacos came out HOT!!! Fresh off the grill and ready. We asked for salsa and it came with a green and red sauce. When we pulled my steak taco out the bag I didn't recognize it. It's very colorful and I didn't see the meat at a quick glance. It was good. Move over Torchy's and Velvet Taco, you have some competition! Fuego Tortilla Grill is a hidden gem of an upscale taco joint across the road from Costco on the NW side of San Antonio. Catering to the college crow, Fuego's offers some interesting tacos that are huge! My husband and I ordered a taco a piece with one to split and it was too much. On top of that, they come with french fries and we added a side of Mexican rice and an order of queso and chips. We took a fair amount home and were rolling out stuffed. I had the Good Golly Miss Holly because...who doesn't love Cheetos on their tacos? Sound odd? Don't knock it until you try it. My husband had the Dr Pepper Cowboy. It did not disappoint. We split the Southern Comfort. That one was okay but not one I'll likely get again. There are too many other options to try. The fries were good and seasoned. The queso is yummy. I liked the Mexican rice over the rice at other competitors. We went at a time when the place was not busy, however, things picked up after we ordered and got seated. We wanted a quick dinner the other night and Fuego fit the bill perfectly for us. When we pulled up there was a small line in their drive-thru but only a few people inside. We decided to eat inside. We placed our order at the front for 3 tacos and a tortilla soup. While I scouted out the salsa bar my wife found a table for us. The food came out very quickly and was very hot. I had ordered "The King" and the "I-Chee-Wa-Wa" while my wife got the soup and the "Fuego Deluxe". The tacos are massive portions so be ready with a fork for anything that falls out, I promise some will! Everything that we got was incredibly tasty and fresh.
