SUMMARY New to Concord bar/pub that's located in a somewhat struggling strip mall off Clayton Blvd. Really chill vibe, cool crowd, friendly staff, good selection of beers, and AMAZING lumpias! BACKGROUND Came here with fellow Yelpers Robert R and Lylah to have a beer. DRINKS and FOOD First off they have over 2 dozen types of beers, so it was a challenge selecting just one :) I opted for my usual Pale Ale, but was provided a few samples before trying. I can't remember what I ended up with, but having a few samples to narrow it down was greatly appreciated. Little did we know that they served food, so we ordered a few to share. We ordered Catfish Sliders, Lumpias, and Tater Tots. Of the three, the Lumpias truly stood out. We ordered 8 and needless to say, they were HUGE. Not the skinny kind you get at your local 99 Ranch, but handmade (we learned from the waitress) by the co-owner who is Filipino. The sliders were great too, but the lumpias totally overshadowed all the other food we ordered. (So yes, order them :) ATMOSPHERE and CROWD Very chill. So wonderful to have another tap hour/beer garden type establishment in the area! It is also within a strip mall so there is parking a plenty. The indoor space opens into the outside via the very hipstery "garage door." There is also an outdoor patio space. Concord Tap House is very low key and very casual. Friday night around 6pm, they were packed already with very limited seating. A very extensive beer menu that is displayed on TV screens. There are no printed menus, and partially because their beer options rotate pretty often. The group and I got two flights to share, with different tastings, so that we can figure out what we like. I definitely do not like sours or IPA's. I did like the cider! They are also slowly rolling out a food service. They have bar food items, but I definitely recommends: tater tots over french fries (trust me). the catfish sliders and the german sausage. All VERY delicious, or either that I was very hungry and tipsy - it does not take me very much :P They ran out of pork lumpia when we wanted to order it. Sad. Was told that the lumpia are made in-house scratch. So definitely need to try next time. It does get busy, so be patient with the waitstaff. They are still learning! We've been able to order cans/bottles on line for pickup and grower fills during the pandemic. As a last minute meal, we got a chicken curry pot pie to make at home that was spectacular. DON'T GO HERE! Too many people know about it already and I don't want to have to wait for a table! First of all, the abundance of good beer choices will be too confusing for you; the bar food menu is full of delicious flavorful deep fried treats (props for having lumpia!) that's definitely not healthy for you, stick to your salads you bastids! and let's not talk about the burgers, the juicy, perfectly grilled, burgers with cheese and toppings that just seem to work served on this golden brown bun that is the ideal vehicle for the transfer to your mouth. Move over E.J. Phairs, Concord Tap House now officially has the best pretzel and beer cheese appetizer. If this dish is still on the menu, you must check it out. The pretzels are smaller than E.J.'s, but they are also very fluffy and served very hot. Salt is served on the side so you can choose how much or little you want. The cheese is hands down the best beer cheese sauce I've ever had. First of all, they give you a massive amount of it, so if you order fries or anything else dippable, there is still enough to dip them in. The sauce is spicy, and I hear you can make it spicier, and the flavor of the cheese is simply incredible. The food menu isn't very large, but they do have a few good tasting choices. I would recommend the sliders. They taste better than the burger, and easier to eat since there isn't juice dripping everywhere. I would also recommend the tots and corn fritters over the zucchini. I like zucchini, but it was a little saggy and over-saturated with balsamic vinegar. They have a very decent beer selection that also rotates. In the end, I recommend Concord Tap House. read more

Very few beers offered in 16oz pint glasses. The haze craze force is strong here too. If you are looking for an actual pint of west coast pale ale or IPA, this isn't your best choice. I seriously want to love and continue to support this place but the service, or lack thereof, is making it very hard. We come here quite a bit since it's in our neighborhood but after last night I don't know if I can continue to support them. The service is just so bad. We sat at the bar for 10 minutes without anyone even looking at us. The least they could do is say they are busy and will be over in a minute. But nothing! And then two other people walk right up to the bar and get served. I just don't get it! The beer is good and love the comedy night but it's just a shame how poor the service is. Everytime we're there it's hard to get service and once you do the people aren't that friendly and not very knowledgeable about about the beer or wine. Ive been coming since they opened and have always been a fan. They have always had a killer rotating beer selection featuring tons of local beers and have been slowly expanding their in house food menu. They have bar food like tater tots, French fries and wings, but also have things like burgers, wraps, grilled veggies and have just recently started featuring a in house smoked pulled pork sandwich. I have enjoyed all their food and their secret "Boss Sauce" is a super tasty mustard based dipping sauce I can't quite figure out what is in but love! The most expensive tap house around. Cheapest beer is $8.25 and then you have to pay tax so it comes out to around $9 before tip. $10-11 per beee if you aren't an Ass hole to staff. Just go to Hop Grenade the same beer is cheaper,on clean lines and the staff is more knowledgeable. read more

We checked this place out right after they opened and unlike most places where you feel like "I hope the service gets better" they were on point. They made you want to keep them back. it is a favorite go to. I can't say enough good things their tap selection is on point! they have a great variety of different pils, pales, ipas porters, stouts and ciders. Wine selection is great if you are into that. January 5, 2019 Who doesn't like "Beer and Wine"? Well, I'm sure they're are those folks out there that don't, but I'm forsure ain't one of those people. I admit, I'm not a "oenophile extraordinaire" like "Shayla B" or anything like that. But I been working on it..... slightly. "Tap Houses" seem to be the new thing that's sweeping the Bay Area, especially here in the East Bay. "Concord Tap House" is another one to add to the growing list. I feel they kinda bring a slightly different vibe to the game, not like your ordinary "Tap House" I would almost say the owners carefully calculated every aspect of their establishment. Allow me to tell you why, and why their plan (If it was) worked out. Concord Tap House: Located off Clayton Rd, this establishment shares space in a small strip with "Taqueria Tijuana Concord", and the old "Fitness Evolution". I mentioned earlier that I think the owners "carefully calculated" every aspect of their tap house. I say that because of the location and the sort of hip vibe it brings to this side of "Concord". "The Hop Grenade" and "Ej Phair" isn't that far away, but the distance is enough to where those that may come here, they'll become "regulars" especially if they live closer to here than "Todos Santos". It's really placed right smack down in the middle of a suburb, one that's really making a big name for itself in the East Bay Area. Unlike other tap rooms I've visited, this one is a bit more "Local Feeling" and I like that in a good bar, lounge, or in this case "Tap Room". With a nice menu of finger foods and wine for the wine lovers. A seasonal menu of different beer, cider and ales. I decided I was going to try something I haven't had before.. Fieldwork Rainbow Parfait $7.50 - This was a mixed fermentation sour beer. It had 6.4 abv and was served in a 13oz glass. Fieldwork (Based out of Berkeley) is known for their out of the ordinary beer, ale and ciders. Their Rainbow Parfait is no exception to the rule, sweet yet tart with light carbonation. This beer almost had cider style properties, yet I feel that for people that normally drink wine, they would get a total kick out of this one. This beer was definitely not one of those "pound it beers" it was pretty sophisticated and made you really think about the name they chose for it. To pretty much sum up the overall taste, it was just like drinking a glass of good "Sangria" disguised as beer. I loved every drop of this. Overall: "Concord Tap House" gets my total seal of approval. They have a pretty good rotating selection of brews (alot from the Bay Area) tapas for those of you that are hungry, and TV screens to watch your favorite sports programs. The service here is top notch, but they aren't knowledgeable about their product which is kinda the deal breaker for me. I will forsure visit this place again and maybe try some of the light bites they have to offer. I would totally recommend this place as it seems a bit more..low-key when compared to the competition they have not too far away. On the expensive side for a craft beer in Concord. $7.75? I'd rather pay in the $6-6.75 range. Luckily we came during happy hour so we got that price, but not really a place I'll visit frequently. Had a good enough selection, but only 1 sour beer. Good service even though there was a full bar and only 1 bartender- she did a great job. Red wine flights are great - enjoyed 3 different wines for the price of 2. Ordered a chicken wrap and thought it was good. Too much BBQ sauce, and made the wrap a mess. I had recently saw this place open on Beyond the Creek and decided to check it out. They are in a middle of Clayton road in small strip mall a few doors down from Goodwill. They have about 24 Taps and small bites. They have an outdoor patio with a few seats and spacious indoor seating as well. I had brought along my fellow Yelp buddy Bob K. To check out this watering hole mid week. I had brought Wifey and he brought his as well. We tried started with a few beers and some bites. Fried Catfish sliders and the tater tots is what we started with. We had also ordered Lumpias and more Tater tots. The beer I had ordered was from Fieldworks and it was a hazy IPA. The servers here are super friendly and let us try a few samples of beer if we weren't sure what to order beverage wise. The place seems like a nice place to hang with friends and chill while watching your favorite sports team. I will definitely be back to try more of their beers and bites. read more

I really wanted to like this place and have been to it four times. Twice before their fire and twice afterwards. They have a nice set up and when the roll up doors are open to the outside air it is pleasant. However, when it is closed up it smells old and musty. Location wise, CTH lists themselves as midtown Concord but they aren't very far from downtown, not even past Treat. The food is mostly fried and not 'healthy' but it is a pub so that isn't unusual. Their salad was almost good, but for the canned mandarin oranges and the xanthan gum dressing. It's be nice if they offered balsamic and virgin olive oil and put the canned oranges on the side to add if desired. They have a bit of an 'extra' charge on almost all beers. What they do is cut the pour to 13oz for most beers on their taps so as to wring their needed profits and keep the per order cost at a competitive price point. It's a better deal at E.J Phairs or The Hop Grenade downtown. Lastly, for me this is the killer, they are way too kid and 'everyone' friendly. As one other reviewer posted, the clientele can be a bit scary at times, they seem to attract a 'rough' crowd, I guess because they don't care as long as they're spending. They are also VERY kid friendly. I was nauseated to notice infants on their table tops, this is pretty well known health issue and they say nothing to the ill behaved parents. Last time I was there the 2-4 year olds were running around like the restaurant was a playground. Playing kick with something under my table at times. I mentioned casually to the bar tender but his retort was that it didn't bother him. So, if you are a young ill behaved parent with ill behaved infant or near infant children, you are in the right place; let your kids be on the tables or run wild under and around other patrons, while you have a beer! If you are a thug, you are also welcome to come in and be thuggy. read more

Cool place in a strange location. My husband I love our beer and we love going places to enjoy drinking good craft beer. We decided to stop here in a Friday night. With our kids. Before you judge me in a negative way. Know this. We take our kids with us almost everywhere and most taps rooms allow kids and some even promote they are family friendly. With that said... I didn't feel a warm welcome when we arrived, I felt like people we're gawking at us. The staff was ok. They do have some food items on a menu. One being lumpia.
