Booooo! This place is the worst. I've probably been five or six times since my first review and they have all been horrible experiences. Last night was the icing on the cake. Slow, rude, bad service. Asked for a table for 6 as our friends were joining us shortly, got a table for 4, got attacked by a manager for our friends coming to our table when they arrived. So rude. Ordered salsa, which came in a dirty dish. The salsa bowl had leftover cheese from its previous use, it was nasty. My wife is a vegetarian and they botched one of her two tacos - came with ground beef. They took it back and corrected the issue, however, they charged us for all 3 tacos. We didn't realize they overcharged us until after we paid, because they don't give you an itemized receipt until after paying. Review from a Californian: Went here last week for a work dinner. Ordered the Lucy's Fire, Korean BBQ, and Sweet Heat tacos. The KBBQ was the only one that was spicy, and the other two weren't really that spicy. I liked the KBBQ taco but the other two were okay. The best way I could describe the flavor of these tacos... it's like if you took a Taco Bell taco and gave it to Chipotle to "spice it up". That's what these tacos are lol. Not bad choice, but I wouldn't reccomend it. If you wanna build your own bowls though you can do that too! My coworker got that and it looked good, but idk how much that was. But,, $5 a taco is an INSANE price. The best taco place Ive been to in downtown Los Angeles charges $3.50/each... so it's kind of crazy that this place can charge $5 a taco and get away with it tbh. This place has a lot of potential but has some areas of growth. I went on a Saturday afternoon/evening. The place was busy which is great for business. My first observation was the wall decor is amazing. My second observation is that everyone waiting is literally squished at the entrance. There is no actual waiting space or method to the madness. Also there are a few tables that are awkwardly positioned close to the waiting area. We waited around 45 minutes for a table. When we arrived at our table a staff member brought us two glasses of water (we were a group of three) and told us she wasn't our server. Okay, thanks! Ooo first night of Devour Indy!! I chose Condado because I've previously been here for Devour Indy fest in the fall and they have a GREAT deal. $20 for a margarita, an appetizer, and 2 tacos OR build your own bowl! Even better, with a house marg, all of this is only $18!! I really enjoyed the New pineapple Mezcalita, the cinnamon rim really gave an unexpected twist to the drink. We got all three of the appetizers available on the Devour Indy menu, the queso blanco is truly to die for. We also tried the Fire Reefer Dip which is new to the menu. This was nice and spicy! Tasted like fire-y chili. Finally, my tacos arrived. I was sad when they came out cold.. I have had tacos from here before and they aren't usually served cold so I was a little disappointed. Definitely one of my go-to spots after working out! As far as vegan options go, you can build your own tacos, and bowls but I usually get two Dutch Dragon tacos. Be careful tho, they put a jalapeño slaw on it that can make it quite spicy! They can also accommodate Gluten-free requests. My family and I frequent Condado because of the excellent food. Excellent food does not give someone the license to provide poor customer service & be disrespectful. After placing a pick up order and not receiving several items, we called back to inform them that the order was not complete. The young man on the phone, who later claimed to be the manager, proceeded to get an attitude after explaining the situation to him. Listening is key, which he clearly was not doing, after explaining to him what items were missing several times. He instead insisted that we did pick those items up. After some back and forth, he said he would remove the items from the bill. When asked his name so we could reference who we spoke with in case the refund didn't come through, he proceeds to tell us he does not have to provide his name. After explaining again that requesting his name was only for reference INCASE the refund did not come through, he again tells us that legally he does not have to provide his name. After questioning why he wouldn't want to provide his name to a customer who has spent money and has not received their order in full, on top of this being a part of YOUR job to provide great customer service, we ended the phone call. The next call will be to corporate. If this is how issues are handled here, we will no longer be dining here and will be sure to spread the word of the poor customer service provided. I always mean to try out their actual meals, but always have already had lunch or dinner when in the area. Thus we just stopped for some drinks and designed to get some chips with queso which was the one that had corn in it. The margaritas are good, but personally way too sweet for me and have a little too much ice. So if I get one again I'd definitely order one with half the amount of syrup or such if possible. They have an outdoor dining area which is nice and it's one the corner of mass ave so there is lots of people watching. It's super easy to bike here or walk or run here and parking isn't too bad but you might have to walk a little. The service was good, however I am giving this spot 3 stars because the chips seemed slightly old as they didn't have a hot warm crunch and the dip tasted cold and was overpriced in my opinion. I would likely return if I am in the mood to try out their tacos or such but would most likely not get the queso again. This newer location is located perfectly at the end of Mass Ave. As soon as you walk in the hand-painted, bright mural is definitely eye catching. AND if you take a closer look you are able to see how funny it is. I always get a packed bowl when I go so that I can load it up with my favorites. This taco place was great! We joined some friends for a Sunday night dinner. Here's what I loved: The atmosphere. The art on the restaurant walls was bright and creative. The drink selection excellent. The taco selection was fun and I loved that I could create my own tacos. GF tacos (hard shell) were available. The menu is excellent in labeling diet concerns (GF, Dairy, etc). Our server was friendly and attentive. Prices were great. Here's what wasn't my favorite: It's pretty loud when it's busy. Hard to hear your friends speak. The chairs are not comfortable. Metal stools with no back. It's super cool to allow people to write on your walls but let's say that the women's restroom had some VERY colorful language on the walls behind the toilet....well, actually, it was all over the bathroom walls. I walked 15+ minutes to get to this place because it had one of the highest ratings in the area and didn't sell burgers, sandwiches or fried chicken. Well, I tried the Korean BBQ taco (I still don't know why...) and the blue dream taco. First of all, this might look like a taco but isn't technically a taco. You get two hard shell "tortillas", but looks and tastes like your regular orange nacho in the movie theater. Second, it's full of cheese, so much cheese that it drips everywhere. The cheese type? Unknown. Third, the Korean bbq is a joke but an interesting one. You basically get a lot of tex-mex style hot peppers with some pineapple and pull pork. We got all three dips offered and all of them were great. I have to say that the queso was probably my favorite though. Very disappointed. I wanted to try this place for a while and was so excited to get the opportunity when going out to dinner with a friend I hadn't seen for a long time. However it was a huge disappointment. The dining room feels like a fast food place. Definitely not a Mexican restaurant. You have to pay for chips and salsa ( the salsa was brown and watered down with no flavor).I wanted to try their tacos but everything is ala cart and the prices are high. $5-$6 for a single taco. I was pretty hungry so decided to try a burrito thinking out would be more filling ($15 burrito).That was not the case. It was supposed to be southwest flavor. However it was mostly plain white rice. There were a few pieces of steak and maybe 4 peppers. However the only thing In tasted was a strong sour flavor that then turned to a very strong spicy flavor that was extremely overwhelming. I was with a guest so I didn't want to make a big deal about how horrible the food was. Especially since I recommended it and kinda pushed for is to go since I had been wanting to try it for so long. We then leave still hungry and disappointed cause I could not finish the burrito cause it was so spicy and the weird sour taste was awful. However, to top it off on my way driving home the food began trying to come back up. I had to drive home trying to hold it down. I spent the next hour throwing up. I reached out to the establishment to tell them about their food making me ill and after a week, I have received no communication. At the least I expected for them to acknowledge and offer an apology. This has been by far my worst experience with a food establishment. We got a rice bowl with brisket, peppers, tomatoes, and pepper jack, corn salsa, and chipotle honey sauce, and the plant taco with chorizo and peppers. They were both really good like very well cooked and just the right amount of spicy. I also really enjoyed how the taco had both the soft outside and a hard inside shell. This location is really cute and hip inside with a lot of cool wall art, my only complaint I suppose would be the waitress seemed completely heartbroken when I said we weren't ordering drinks or appetizers, and was too quick in taking our order and asking about the food lol. This place is going to be my go-to when I think of Taco Tuesdays! The nice thing about it is that if you're indecisive, they have pre-made options. If you know what you like, grab a pad and fill out what you want! I haven't tried the drinks yet as I've only been here for a weekday lunch. I'd love to come back and try them though! The possibilities really are endless when it comes to making your own taco. I opted for the premade versions though because I just wanted something I didn't have to think about. I'm so glad I went this route! The Lucy's Fire taco was amazing! It was spicy and had crunch along with the soft texture inside the filling. How can you go wrong with a crunch shell surrounded by a soft flour tortilla? The surf n turf was good as well, but after the Lucy's Fire, I just wasn't as impressed. After sampling the Dirty Morning taco at a Yelp event I knew I needed to sample more of Condado tacos and I wasn't disappointed!! The location is easy to find with lots of metered street parking. I arrived at 12:30 and was prepared for a long lunch wait. Instead I was pleasantly surprised and seated immediately at a table. The interior is casual and comfortable with bright, fun graffiti on the walls and a fun atmosphere. Seating is a mixture of tall-top tables and regular tables. The bar area is to the back of the restaurant and was quite busy when I was here. Condado has oodles of liquor options and I don't think you'll be disappointed regardless of what you drink. There are several Specialty Cocktails (Cuba Libre, Anejo Manhattan, Sparkling Tequila Mash), many brands of tequila and whiskey's sorted by standard, premium and ultra premium brands. You'll also find Rums, Mezcal, Cerveza, PBR, Miller High Life, Bud Light (draft) and Rhinegeist Bubbles (draft) with Hangover Cures, Tequila-Mosa, Michelada, and Bloody Mary/Maria with Vodka or Blanco Tequila and of course, Margaritas. Something for most I would think. At first the menu appeared confusing until I looked closer. You'll find 3 menus/order forms on the table with an appetizer menu, a regular taco order form ($3-$5) with ingredients listed and then one order form where you build your own tacos the way you want them from shell or bowl to the finishing sauces. Prices for build your own tacos begin at $3.50 each with some upcharges listed beside the item. Just write your name on top of the order form, write in quantity beside the taco you want or start building your own tacos. Naco's are available for $7 and sides are listed at the bottom of the order form with prices. My server was friendly, prompt and attentive. He explained the ordering process and grabbed my beverage. After reading a few of the reviews I was afraid service was going to be super slow. Because of I ordered an appetizer of chips and salsa which arrived super fast. I turned in my order to my server and my food arrived in less than 5 minutes. Faster than fast food restaurants!! The chips were good and I enjoyed the generous serving of the hotter salsa. Most of the chips were taken home with me along with one of my tacos. I ordered one Lucy's Fire Taco which has a firecracker shell, a fiery flavored hard shell, roasted chicken with lettuce, cilantro, onions, smoked cheddar, corn salsa & cilantro-lime aioli. I loved the mixture of corn, chicken, cilantro and smoked cheddar flavors. My second taco was the Dirty Morning Taco which brought me in. I enjoyed this breakfast taco with a soft, flour tortilla filled with queso blanco, rice, black beans, scrambled eggs, cilantro, onions and their amazing dirty sauce. I love the fresh ingredients, the queso with the mixture of veggies and especially the dirty sauce flavor. If you enjoy some heat I highly recommend the dirty sauce. It's a no from me dawg. Okay, i just want to preface by saying that i have been to condado in bripp three times... all which have been terrible.... I wanted to give mass ave a fair chance but it let me down. The only good thing i will say about this place is: great location, sick decorating and thats about it. Now onto the bad... 1. KOOL-AID MARGARITAS: don't even get me started on these koolaid margs... if you want to know what they taste like, buy koolaid and add half a shot of tequila. So so bad... I'm still in shock that a restaurant would ACTUALLY serve these?! 2. The chips.... greasy and paper thin. Imagine cutting a piece of paper into chip sizes and frying them. That's what they taste like. 3. Quality of ingredients is horrible. What a difference a day makes... Customer service? Not so much. Took a while to get seated, I get it, it's a busy place, the location and concept are great. Once seated, I look over the menu, I observe tables getting waited on all around me, figure I must be invisible. My friends joined me, we all sat there for quite a while, yep the place is busy, staff walking by, tending to every table adjacent to ours, yet not a word of acknowledgement, or a 'hang in there, we'll be with you in mere hours' ... nothing... we finally started waving at staff to get someone's attention. Turns out to be our waiter, he's telling us how swamped he is... ahhh... I see... funny how we were the first table seated in his section, but the last to receive any attention. And then he wants to be funny, make a joke of our long wait... maybe funny to him, not so much to us. Approx 20 minutes is simply too long to go unacknowledged. If I had not clued my guests in on the art of ordering here, they would have been lost. So the remark of 'bet you ain't even ready yet..' was not appreciated. As a side note, you may want to order your drinks without straws. Not only due to environmental concerns, but also these straws are unwrapped. If you observe the wait staff, they will pull out a hand-full of straws, stick some into drinks and shove the rest back into the container. I observed straws rolling all across the counter and then being placed back into the container and into the drinks. So it's not only one had that touches the darn thing, but multiple. On Mass Ave no less? Count me in. Since I was by myself, I took a seat at the bar. Since it was my first time, I was a bit overwhelmed with the app menu, drink menu, food selection pads... This is how it works: There is a huge drink menu, two-sided... pick your libations. There is a small app menu card, pick an appetizer while you try to decide what kind of taco(s) you want. Then comes the real work: There are monthly specials, there is a pad to choose some of their most popular taco combinations... or you can go free-style. Use that block to choose everything from your shell, to protein, to veggies, to extras, to sides... there are some tough choices to make and the possibilities are endless. If you have a hard time deciding on things, you will be in decision making hell here. Unfortunately once the decision is made, you will be in for a wait. Quite a wait. Hopefully you have ordered an appetizer to keep you from starving. Or have another drink. Depending on the choices you have made, you will eventually receive one yummy messy one of a kind creation. Walked in to order takeout. Nice space with cool art. They also have outdoor seating. Ordered the Up in the Smoke taco, Blue Dream taco, and built my own with pulled pork. Service was very quick. Less than 10 mins. The tacos were absolutely delicious! My favorite was the Blue Dream. Great flavors. I will definitely be back for a dine in! read more
