Connected is fantastic. We inherited a crappy A/C unit when we bought this house. Each time there were A/C issues, Connected came out immediately and fixed everything quickly (replacing the capacitor, freon leak, etc.). We dealt with David each time and he is professional, knowledgeable, super patient and thoroughly explained everything to me. I really liked how he didn't try to upsell me or put any pressure...and just seemed like an honest no bulls--t type of person. Professional, courteous, efficient, honest and so unlike many contractors we've had in the past. Equipment New 4 ton Bryant AC and Heating HVAC system. Safety Firsty Like most people, we were hesitant on replacing our AC during Covid times but it got so hot we just bite the bullet and called these guys. Luckily, we did because everybody who came in wore masks and stayed within 6 feet. They also laid tarps down on the areas they trafficked most and I really appreciate them respecting our house. Price We got 3 bids and everybody pretty much gave the same pricing. The funny thing was, I didn't even consider using yelp to look for contractors but I found Duane on NextDoor and the other guys through word of mouth. I eventually went with Duane just based on pricing alone because he was slightly cheaper than the rest. Labor 3 guys arrived to our home a little earlier than expected but I rather have that than late. They came in, laid tarp down, got to work, and within less than 3 hours they were done. 1 guy tinkering with the inside unit and the other outside working on the condenser. We got a 4 ton Bryant and I was surprised to see the new unit was smaller than our old one. One of the tech's John said because they make them more efficient now so they're a lot smaller. I really appreciate these guys because it is not an easy job, especially in the heat and they did an amazing job. Character All the crew were respectful, courteous, friendly, safe, and are hard workers. Props to Duane as well. I was at first disappointed he wasn't there but his crews' got it down. I really like that he showed up beforehand and came back when the job was done to double check the everything. Not only that, but 2 days after the job, our ac stopped working. We didn't know why but we called Duane and he showed up that day after finishing a job in LB. He determined that the issue was with my horrible Nest thermostat. He proceeded to grab us a loaner thermostat from his car and let us use it until we got a new one. In my mind, he didn't have to do that, but because of this work ethics and just being a decent human being, he didn't want us to be without AC. So thank you Duane and your guys. This is a long-overdue and also a new review. Connected installed a new HVAC system for me back in the spring of 2018. I talked to four different companies. My AC system in particular is really important to me because my house has a southwest exposure, which means it gets quite warm even when it's in the 80's, much less 90 and above, particularly upstairs. I chose Connected over a competitor with somewhat lower prices based on my conversations with their team, who were extremely knowledgeable and did not give off the "salesman" kind of vibe -- they were people who worked with this equipment and Knew All the Things. The installation involved a big crew of guys but they were in and out in a little more than half a day. They also pulled the proper permits and I had the system inspected by both a private inspector and the city with no issues. But any company will take your money -- the question is, are you there when you need them afterwards, especially in a warranty situation where they aren't going to get paid for helping you? My AC went out last night, in the middle of a 90+ degree heat wave. Duane called me within two hours, went out to my house, figured out the problem, solved it, and called me back when it was fixed. I am at work watching the Nest thermostat and it's dropped two degrees! Yay! I'm sure Duane could have spent that time on a repair that would have netted the company some money today instead of two and a half years ago, but he showed up when I needed him to. Service matters! Especially for a long-term investment like an HVAC system. And don't forget to change your filters regularly! read more

I was just checking my reviews and realized that I really needed to update this one. I can't quite remember when, or if it was even on as a continuation of this, but I actually had Duane come out to install a new air conditioner. As I said previously, Duane is really very good, but there was a lack of communication when I wrote the initial review. Duane doesn't give you the hard sell, or try to scare you into needing the top end AC, furnace or additional pieces. He sells you and installs just what you need. He doesn't take advantage of the soaring or low temperatures, he just gives you what you need. He is the best, but I hope I don't have to see him any time soon! :D :D read more

Duane was incredible, and his professionalism deserves the highest respect. On a very cold day, my thermostat stopped working, leaving my home uncomfortably cold. Duane came the same day to inspect the unit. He climbed up into the attic, quickly determined that the thermostat wasn't the issue, and reset my furnace. Once again Connected Heating and Air proved why they are the best! I awoke in the middle of the night to a cold house and the scent of electrical burning. The furnace burners would light up, but there was no fan, only a loud hum. I figured okay, this old furnace has seen it's best days. In the morning, we called Connected Heating for an estimate thinking we were looking at installing a new heating system. They replied that they would be able to send someone out the same day by around noon! Now that's fast service. David called me and messaged me before he arrived and even arrived a bit earlier than expected. I spoke with David about what had happened. David was very friendly and professional, and asked if he could look at the furnace. He opened it up and mentioned that it might be a capacitor. Within minutes, he had the capacitor out and said; "yep, that's it...capacitor's out." David immediately replaced the bad part, turned the furnace back on and checked to ensure everything was working properly. I'm toasty! Thanksgiving night, my heater refused to warm up my house no higher than 65 degrees despite being set to 72. Add to that a rain-induced roof leak that was previously repaired by two other handymen. welp :-/ Ever sat on a cold toilet seat? Yesterday, Friday morning, I experienced that. I jumped right off and got to Yelp for an HVAC repairperson. I called two companies - the soonest Connected H&AC could send someone out was next day, Saturday between 9am-11am. The other company come out that day. Unfortunately, he didn't have the part that he thought I'd need, and told me he'd get back to me on Tuesday...a looooong time to go without central heat...I know, first world problems. A friend recommended Connected Heating & Air and the owner Duane Kressin to me when I told her I needed an HVAC inspection at a home I was selling this past hot August in Los Angeles for a client. I am a real estate broker who works primarily in Orange County. This home was due to close escrow soon and the AC was working fine until after a plumber had visited and gone up in the attic where the furnace was. Good initial contact and installation. The main problem was not following up on city permit application. Installation was done on end of May and I have been contacting them every week and it's mid August right now. At this point I am having doubts on their warranty. Update: 1 day after posting review, they've submitted permit application to city for review. Will update when I get more information. read more

There are multiple HVAC repair companies in SoCal but in reality many are simply call centers that farm out work (for a fee) to unlicensed independents working out of a van, in many cases (pick one) neighbors report they're Russian, Ukrainian or Eastern European - and what they do is throw out a ridiculously high quote to see if you are breathing. When you say no, I can't afford it, then mysteriously they "have a used part in the van" and the price drops by $400! Refusing the quote a 2nd time results in begging (really) and stories about their starving family (not kidding) and you are left wondering exactly how much the part really costs. In today's climate I'm sure the Russian Federation will respond howling about unfair characterizations of good Slavic people, so yeah, nothing personal, that's just the landscape. The blower motor in the furnace (which handles both heating and A/C) died after approx 25 years. I took great pains to research and found Connected Heating, I liked that they were local and had their own employees. They responded within the same day; Jon diagnosed the issue right away and gave me a price including parts and labor, and promised to return the next day. The next day Jon appeared with a brand new OEM Trane motor and replaced the dead one. He was quick, gave me regular updates and was professional. A very good experience, as my A/C system is 25 years old I'm eyeballing replacing it before it takes a giant dump in my garden and I'll definitely call these guys for a quote. read more

After several seasons of keeping our 25-year-old furnace and 20+-year-old AC alive -- our air conditioner finally broke down. As I mentioned in my original post, it would be a no-brainer who I would turn to when this day finally came. To set the stage, we went and replaced both our AC and heat exchange -- as while it was working, our heater was also starting to limp along and show its age. From a cost perspective: this isn't a cheap job (it is a ton of work, after all), but Connected was extraordinarily reasonable and slightly lower than the average. Moving onto service: the team at Connected was professional and prompt and juggled a lot on their end to work us into their extremely busy schedule. We had this work done in the middle of a heatwave, so we were very anxious to have our new air conditioner installed. We found connected about a year ago after moving into our first place in July. We had transferred our Google Nest from our old place and could not get it to work properly. I called Connected and spoke with a very friendly gentleman named David. He attempted to walk me through a couple of quick troubleshooting tips in an attempt to help me get my unit up and running late that evening.
