First of all, over a span of 5 months my hair grew out my original 'do flawlessly -- there were no probs with styling it, even after almost a half-year without a trim, just as Alejandro has promised. Knowing I won't be back in the area for another couple of months, I headed out for a cut yesterday. Another couple of comments on Alejandro -- he has a very good eye and is spectacular at discerning what style fits your face. No more of the stylists who try to impose a magazine 'do on you... he just listens attentively, confers with you in detail, and makes propositions that turn to stunning results (which are still very stylish, but customized to you!). Very, very skilled. He gives advice on how to style your hair, and does a great job recommending products... the cream he suggested my first visit was fantastic. I fully reconstructed his styling today in the morning based on his explanation (don't you hate it when you look awesome just after your haircut, but when you try to style yourself, it turns out meh... just not the same? ). Love love love #winning! Brad was the bees knees. He made me feel like I was in his home, a sheik, totally mod home be at that. Brad worked with me to find out what I wanted and not what he wanted to make me. He washed my hair and massaged my head with finesse and grace, putting me into a Vidal sasoon like trance. After I finished he brought me a warm towel. I told him I was a bit nervous when he started to cut my hair, this was the first time I had had it done in two years. I recently visited the salon on a Lifebooker appt for microdermabrasion and a custom peel. I had an amazing experience with Juanita! She clearly knew what she was doing, and even switched out the peel for an alternative treatment that better suited my skin's needs. She also did a million extractions, leaving no clogged pore behind, which I love. She's young and friendly, and plays some great soul music during the appt, which is refreshing compared to some of the spa sounds you usually get. I purchased a groupon deal for a $35 mani-pedi and couldn't be more disappointed. The nail tech is new there but she needs to go back to beauty school. She didn't even properly clean my cuticles or trim them for a true-clean manicured finish, which is the main reason for me wanting manicures as frequent enough as I like to get them. So disappointed that it took as long as it did (90 mins) for such a waste of time and money. Both big toes chipped right away and my manicure looks like my 8 year old did it. Will never return. Don't go here for a manicure or pedicure. read more

I was very disappointed with the service that I recieved here. I bought a groupon for some waxing services. They were friendly when I first went in so that was nice, although they had me down for the wrong kind of waxing. It was weird because I noticed on the phone when I made the appointment that they didn't ask me what kind of waxing I wanted. Then I arrived and she apparently had just decided on her own what serive I was getting. That wasn't a huge deal though. However I had two major problems with this place. The first is the condition of my skin when I left. There was significant scabbing and possible scaring that will follow. I'm not sure if it will scar or not, I only had it done a few days ago, but I have very noticable and embarrassing scabs on my face right now. So I would avoid this place if you are going in for waxing service. I have been getting the same areas waxed for years and NEVER had anything like this happen. It's ridiculous. The second problem was when I went to pay, she told me that my groupon covered everything so I didn't owe anything. I asked if I could tip her with my card because I didn't have cash on me, you know, because it's 2012! (At this point I didn't realize how terribly my skin had been treated or I would not have bothered to tip at all.) She gave me a lot of attitude about it. Yes, that's right! I asked her if could TIP her and she gives me a whole speach about how she normally doesn't like to do that and how she doesn't even make money off the groupon. Hey guess what! Then don't do the stupid groupon, lady! The idea of those things is to bring new business in. Had you done a good job and not treated me so rudely, I would have come back and you would have made money off of me. I frequent these places alot for waxing, so you would have made a lot of money off of me if you knew what you were doing and had treated me nicely. Now, not only am I never going back, I woudl advice anyone else to NEVER go there if they care about their skin at all. I can't speak for their other services, but as far as waxing goes, they messed my skin up pretty badly. I wish I could get the tip back that I gave her, not to mention the actual groupon I purchased, as it was an awful experience. read more

So, I was in dire need of a brow wax and try to spend my money wisely...to Groupon I went, in search of a daily deal. I came across Connection Salon, not too far from me. Unfortunately, the Groupon seemed like it wouldn't work this time. I simply didn't have the time -- nor presently all the hair -- required for $25 for $50 worth of waxing within the hour. Called and spoke to Juanita, who ensured she'd give me a deal anyway (the advertised 20% off for first time customers, apparently, but I'm not being picky). I hopped on the Western bus, received an amazing brow wax plus a coupon for a bikini wax which I had inquired about. One star deducted for the non-spa music (Really? Hip-hop while I'm trying to relax?) and for the light shining in my eyes while she was talking to me the whole time about other services, but I'll blame that on the rush job (I was in a hurry). She even gives a mini foot and leg massage while some of the products are settling in. She truly gives a great experience and it is worth the money. Now half of my family members come here including me for haircuts and more! I've had my hair cut by Alejandro for a couple of years and he even gave my son his first haircut. I was never a believer in beauty salons and their services. I didn't think there was much difference between that and just cleaning my face at home. One day I caved, however, and decided to see what the buzz was about. I'm glad I did. I was sooo impressed! I made an appointment with Juanita, and she is an absolute miracle worker! She managed to clean out my pores and the blackheads on my nose (which I believed were permanent until then), and also gave me some very useful tips on how to take care of my skin in-between appointments. So I found Connection Salon on Yelp while looking for a place to get my hair cut. You know what's important to me: quality and price. I don't need some neo-masculine salon with flat screen tvs and an outrageous price tag in order to get a good looking hair cut. If that's your idea of a good time, you can have'em. Really, the most important things are how good my hair looks after I leave the place and how much of a dent did it put in my wallet. That being said, Connection Salon is not some shabby local joint. I went there for the first time yesterday and walked out one happy customer. Alejandro cut my hair and did a great job. He took his time and did some of those little extra cuts that really add value to the quality of my hair cut. It's great to support a local business, especially one that delivers. I understand that people hate to let out a good secret, but Yelp only really works if we do. This is a follow up review from my visit back in Feb. Let me start by saying I had a groupon for the salon. I've purchased it and waited a few extra months for my hair to grow out. Finally when I was need of a haircut I decided to give this place a whirl. I have not been anywhere else in at least 5 yrs. but after talking to Moi he calmed me down and told me he new what to do. I should have bolted from the door when he did a clean slice across with my hair in a pony tail. Mind you, my hair is mid. back length and I only wanted at most 2 inches off. For just a few inches I was nervous as to why he approached it this way. I wasnt donating 2 in. or anything. Once he took the ponytail out of course it was jagged. Again, he said he would cut into it now. After a brutal 30 min in the chair he OVER texturized the ends soo much that there was really barely anything to grab. My hair is thick and never felt it so thin. Since I have thick hair, I have a lot of body and waves. I NEVER wear my hair super straight from a flat iron and that's how he styled it. I get my hair blow dried once a week and told him no one ever uses a flat iron on me. He proceeded to flat iron my hair. After all was said and done, I hated the style and because it was stick straight I could see certain sections were longer than others. Once I got into the chair of my reg. stylist it took her almost an hour and a half to fix my cut.!!! Lesson learned. No more groupon on haircuts. Its not worth it. Spent double time and money to fix. read more

She does an awesome job and is really friendly , she make the time go quickly, and really knows what she is doing, i have never walked out with a bad cut. I had a terrible experience due to the lack of customer service at Connections Salon. I live two blocks away from the salon and decided to try out the salon due to it's proximity and Aveda products. I had blond highlights and a haircut. My hair is not a light lavender and I have long chopped bangs that look disturbingly like a mullet. After leaving 3 messages during business hours describing my hair issues, Alejandro (the owner) called me back and told me to just "keep washing it and hopefully the purple will eventually wash out." I have am speaking at a large conference tomorrow and the possibility that I may be speaking with lavender hair is very upsetting. I spent over $300 and instead of suggestion a toner, or even apologizing, he tells me that it may come out after a few washes. Honestly, I could have saved $290 and bought a bottle of dye and cut my own hair...and it would have looked better. I am very disappointed. read more

For the prices - amazing haircut. I have long, layered blonde hair that is just starting the feel the effects of the Sun-In I've been using for years - my ends are brittle from that and heat usage and it's not doin me so well. I want to keep growing out my hair but was at a loss for a while because my hairdresser previously wasn't doing an amazing job. Alejandro to the rescue! He's such a gentle person and I really appreciated his analyzation and consultation of my hair before it was washed. He blow dryed and straightened - I wasn't used to a dry cut - but it looked SO fabulous. He showed me that my hair was cut weirdly - and that they framed my face too much and left too much hair in the back. He layered it to healthiness.. and kept the length! I was hoping for a transformation - but he explained to me that if I want to grow my hair out long, its got to be even first... and boy is he right! Thanks so much... and I WILL be back!! read more

I've been seeing Alejandro for my hair needs for over 5 years. He maintains a very clean salon and can handle a variety of hair textures. I have naturally curly hair, so it's rare to find someone who can consistently manage my hair to the length I want it cut to. His pricing is fair for the area and he has promotions that keep customers satisfied. Neighborhood parking is also a good benefit that upscale salons don't readily have available because of the location. read more
