Okay, here's what happened. Yelp recommended this place, so I went here. I needed a haircut, and even the barbershops seem to be charging north of $20 these days. Also, due to the jew-fro, my hair isnt quite as simple as we'd like. So I walked into this join, a dude named Moi (pronounced Moy) cut my hair, and he did a GREAT job. After my yelp discount, it came to $20 plus tip. $20 for an actual wash, style, 45 minute cut? And a GREAT haircut? This place is a no brainer. My haircut is simple and does not require salon-grade treatment. I think they get that I'm not a "salon guy", so I've never felt uncomfortable in here. Just around the corner from my house, Connection Salon offers great haircuts at prices that make me and my checkbook happy. I have short hair, and I don't pay more than $40 for a fabulous 'do. Plus, I can call them or stop in the day before I need an appointment and can usually get in. The staff is friendly and the vibe in the salon is calm. This place is a gem, and while I highly recommend it, I hope it stays a bit of a local secret! I like being able to just walk over and relax in the chair and walk out with great hair. read more

"Meh" about sums it up. Airika gave me a decent cut, but nothing special. She showed up late and was dead unfriendly for most of the cut, despite my repeated attempts at conversation. When she asked if I wanted it styled curly or straight, I said curly. She told me she wanted it straight, and that's how she did it. Sigh. When she started to loosen up, five to ten minutes before the end of the cut, she regaled me with a story about how a girl told her she wasn't entirely happy with the cut and would Airika mind re-doing it. To me, that sounds reasonable, and is something most competent stylists welcome. Airika seemed to think it was funny that her reaction was to pull a "diva" with the client and let another stylist finish the girl's hair. Hmmm...not amused. I don't have particularly difficult hair demands--long layers, that's about it. There are many, many stylists who can do that, and who will smile and make conversation with me without having it feel like I'm pulling teeth. As a result, I have no reason to come back here, and won't. read more

My hair has never looked so good (all modesty thrown to the wind). Although I would like to give credit to my fabulous genetics, it is really the wonders of Brad! For so long I thought I should wear my hair long and curly. Read as lazy and unmotivated. After one session with Brad and giving him free reign all I can say is that I will never go back. I will also never be getting my hair cut from another stylist. Brad always takes the time to listen to what I might want and then works with me to make a creation that is not only flattering, but also workable with my busy and active lifestyle. Ambrocio is my go-to-man at Connection. I've been going to him for about 3 years now and I'll be his client for as long as he'll have me. He'll do whatever I ask, plus he'll volunteer his own ideas when I ask. He spent hours indulging me with my idea to dye a stripe of my black hair hot pink for a breast cancer walk (what a process!), and he's also currently being patient while I've decided to grow my hair long and don't let him touch it aside from color. He is very creative with up-dos to - I would definitely recommend him for any special event that you might have. It's been almost 8 months since I last wrote about the lovely Brad, and I cannot gush enough about what an amazing hairdresser he is! I went in there last weekend, of course, excited as always and Brad truly did an incredible job. Every 2 months I look forward to seeing him. He could probably charge me $100 for a simple cut and I would pay it each and every time because he truly knows (and he's honest!) about giving advice/recommendations to his clients. Great salon... Great stylists. I was in town over the weekend from NY for a wedding and had to get my hair blowdried... Let me tell you... I have really curly hair and had to find someone that knew how to blowdry it.. Well i found this salon.. And with that... Israel!!!! Let me tell you.. I am not exaggerating when i say he has magic fingers... I thought i could fall asleep as he washed mynhair and the blowdry... Soooo soft with the hand... Not a single tug and pull of my hair... I have longer hair and he does great careful work on long layers and doesn't cut it too short and always has great ideas for changing my hair in slight and non drastic ways. I love to change up my look and Ambrosio is so creative and is great at new edgy cuts and color placements I get complimented on his work all the time. I have been going to this salon since they opened. I used to see Brad, but after he left I started seeing Ambrocio. He is the best of the best. He does both cut and color, and is very consistent. He rarely makes you wait more than 10 minutes past your appointment time, and he gives the best head massages during your shampoo. He always styles my hairs for events, and does such a great job creating different hair styles for different outfits. He is very gifted when t comes to up-dos. She was great, and she was very attentive and understanding ...she did a phenomenal job on my facial, my skin feels so good! I went to connection salon for a facial, and I had it with Juanita. She is very sweet and gentle, and I think her work is pretty good. What I like about it is she talked through the best option for my facial treatment that day before she began. One small thing that I will suggest is to emphasize the relaxing ambiance especially during the mask time, I felt that I didn't get that since I could hear her "being busy" around me, nothing major, just simply the nuance needs to be more quite during those time. I am writing this on behalf of my husband, who got his hair cut here last weekend. He is quite picky, and always seeks out the best price for the best cut. He prefers not to go to a barber shop because his hair is not a clipper/shave job, but refuses to pay more than $30 for a cut. We stumbled upon this review and decided to give it a go. I love this salon. I have had my hair done by Alejandro, Moi and Loxy. Every time I have loved the result. Everyone is always very friendly and make sure you leave happy. I got my hair colored and cut about two weeks ago. I went with something different and put some red in my hair. I let Loxy get a little creative with where to put the red and how it was cut. I love how it came out! I get compliments on it everywhere I go! Loxy is very personable and makes sure you like her ideas of what to do with your hair before she starts anything. First of all, over a span of 5 months my hair grew out my original 'do flawlessly -- there were no probs with styling it, even after almost a half-year without a trim, just as Alejandro has promised. Knowing I won't be back in the area for another couple of months, I headed out for a cut yesterday. Another couple of comments on Alejandro -- he has a very good eye and is spectacular at discerning what style fits your face. No more of the stylists who try to impose a magazine 'do on you... he just listens attentively, confers with you in detail, and makes propositions that turn to stunning results (which are still very stylish, but customized to you!). Very, very skilled. He gives advice on how to style your hair, and does a great job recommending products... the cream he suggested my first visit was fantastic. I fully reconstructed his styling today in the morning based on his explanation (don't you hate it when you look awesome just after your haircut, but when you try to style yourself, it turns out meh... just not the same? ).
