I recently posted a review of Wiechec's Lounge and I realized that I forgot to post one for Connor's... It's a small old-school buffalo tavern/ginmill style restaurant on Seneca St in West Seneca. The parking lot is on the small side, but I've never had an issue parking there. The inside décor looks like you stepped through a time door back to 1975. I think the wood paneling, tables, lighting and carpets are the original. I've eaten here on fri nights about 3-4 times and each time the service, food and experience was the same and I left satisfied. I will admit that I've never ordered anything but the fish fry but other friends I've gone with have and said the food they ordered was good. The fish fry is large (hang off your plate) haddock filet, the beer batter is light and crispy with a nice flavor, not greasy at all. The sides (french fries, cole slaw, potato salad) are all fresh and taste really good. Sometimes you can get german potato salad with your meal or mac n cheese as a substitute. The menu is your standard buffalo style family restaurant fare, the service is decent and the prices are reasonable. *tip: if you go on a fri night, be prepared to wait for a table... This is not fine upscale dining, but if you're looking for a traditional WNY fish fry on a fri night, or a decent meal during the week and you're in the West Seneca area it's worth stopping in. read more

Love coming home and coming here for a beef on weck. This time the beef was so tender and flavorful, sometimes it can be hit or miss with their beef and how tender it is but they hit it out of the park this time. They have one of the best gravy's in town to dip your French fries!!!! We sat outside on the patio as it was such a gorgeous day!!! I recommend this place if you want a relax atmosphere. read more

It's great to find another restaurant that will serve hand-carved beef on weck medium-rare. They certainly deliver on the roast beef, it is the equal of Bar-Bill or Schwabl's. My only complaint is that the weck lacked salt and caraway, but if the meat is good, I will overlook that. And the roast beef was very good and plentiful. I could not finish the sandwich. Also, the horseradish was fresh and hot. Spot-on. My wife and I split an order of Cottage Fries, basically a potato sliced thin like a potato chip, but cooked more like french fries, not hard or crispy. The side gravy was probably the most delicious gravy I have ever had at a restaurant. As for the value, I wouldn't call it cheap, but the prices were fair for the quality. I happen to like restaurants that keep that vintage feel. It's very welcoming. We'll be back to try some of the other offerings, but I will add Connor's as one of the top establishments for Beef on Weck. read more

Food was pretty good and the server was very friendly. However the management was TERRIBLE! I was there with group of people, including a friend who has a service animal - licensed. She was told they don't allow animals, showed the license and that should have been the end of it. However, the one woman, I don't know if she was manager on duty or just one of the wait staff, came up to us after we were seated TWO MORE TIMES to argue with us on behalf of the owner who refused to speak with us directly. It was ridiculous and didn't stop until someone else in our group threatened to call her lawyer. My friend's service animal was quiet and behaved the entire time. I felt bad for the woman that was our actual server, Katie, because she was lovely and the food was good. But the way the situation was handled I would not come back. read more

My introduction to Connor's was in 1967 via a friend when we stopped in for a beef and a beer after a trip to Kissing Bridge. Actually my wife and I haven't been to Connor's in quite a while, not for any bad reason, just lifestyle changes. We will have to make it a point to stop there again. Connor's had gone through owner changes and the inevitable price, portion changes during the more than a decade in which we patronized it almost every Saturday Night, but the overall quality dining experience remained. The homey tavern/dining-room atmosphere was always welcomed as a place to unwind. The Beef on Weck was a favorite as was the Open Steak sandwich and both were enjoyed with great salads. It is a seventeen mile drive from our home and we are looking forward to going again. I will Update this review but I'm sure it will remain very positive. read more

This was my third time trying to give this restaurant a try as it us so close to my home. I have been told by several people that the atmosphere here is not welcoming and i was able to see that first hand today. I walked in and was greeted by three waitresses looking at us We kindly ask them are we able to sit outside they said yes and walked away. We found our way to a table on the patio and after ten minutes were approached by a waitress that took our appetizers order and drinks. Few minutes later water was dropped at our table. The sun started beating on us so we waited patiently for any server or worker to check on us and ask if possible to move inside. The restaurant had three people in it so there was plenty of room. After what seemed to be a long time our stuffed peppers were dropped at our table and we quickly asked "could we move inside?" The waitress replied "ya" leaving us with menus, silverware, purses, masks and our peppers! We grabbed what we could with no help. Once we entered the new table a gentleman came over to advise me that when "moving tables i had to have a mask on" I replied "maybe someone could of helped us and i could of had a chance" we then waited more.. and more.. and our waitress finally came over and apologized for not helping. We paid for our peppers and twenty percent gratuity only to be kind. I will never go back three strikes your out this was the third. Ebenezer is down the road. read more

Was happy to check out somewhere near home. Service was fair, it was our server's first day so I'll cut a little slack, but her anxiety made me anxious. We got half priced appetizers which were good, loaded fries (which we asked what were on them, assuming cheese and bacon, etc) to which she had no idea about. They were like roast beef fries, almost a poutine which I found really misleading. Those were bad. When we didn't want a box for them, the waitress actually said, "those don't look appetizing at all." I think the menu was misleading and since the actual fries were so much different than your typical loaded fry, I think I name change or a description in the menu is needed. We also got 10 BBQ wings (50 cent wing nights mon-thurs). The wings were rubbery, cold, and undercooked. There is no discount large enough that would make it worth it to eat those again. They were honestly horrible. We also did not take those home (I could only stomach a bite, me husband ate two after asking for blue cheese, but regretted it soon after). The prices were reasonable, but overall the food was not great. Like I did say, I got pretzels with dip and pizza logs for appetizers which were good, but in my opinion very hard to mess up. On a brighter note, the patio was nicely decorated. Table was a bit dirty though. Not sure I'll ever make it back, my husband definitely will not. read more

Wow, this place was busy. But a typical wait on a Friday night in WNY when serving Fish Fries. No prob. They had Guinness in a can. The busers were right there clearing any vacant tables making the tables turn quickly. We were seated with menus in 15 mins just as we were told and our pleasant server arrived within minutes. They have Sullivan's Irish Ale on tap so I had to give it a try. Not bad at all. Now with time to review the extensive menu we settled on the Plank Salmon and the Breaded Perch. The Salmon was a little dry but good. It was supposed to have some fruit compote topping but it didn't seem to be there which may have lead to this. The Perch was VG with a sweetness you'd expect from perch. The sides were typical of fish fries and good as well. One last note; they give a good pour when it comes to a glass of wine which is getting harder to find theses days. So Connor's makes it to our do again list. Our party of four put our names on the list for a table on 5/8/21. The hostess said the wait was about 20 minutes. After 30 minutes I went to ask where we were on the list, the hostess pointed us to a table saying it just needed to be set. After getting to our table, the head server come over to tell us we couldn't have the table, it was reserved for a party of six, we said the hostess directed us to this table, the head server said "she didn't know this table was reserved." This was a 3'x3' table and I don't believe party of six would fit. They acted like they were doing us a favor by being there and didn't care about our business at all. This restaurant has good food but the owner doesn't care about his customers I made a reservation for a large group months in advance a week before hand I called to make sure we were all good for the day of and the owner spoke directly to myself and renigged everything and even tried saying I would never make a reservation like that. I tried a little while later to all him to clear the slate apologize or try to make it good the owner just didn't care. read more

Had been to Connor's 20 years ago and remembered it as generic at best, but after a great review of their Detroit pizza in the Buffalo News decided to give it another try. We walked in at 6pm on Sunday night and were told we could sit anywhere--upon seating ourselves, we heard our waitress say "oh great, I'll never get out of here tonight" not very welcoming. When I ordered the pizza she seemed confused and I had to show her the item on the menu--not a good sign. We also ordered an appetizer plate. It took a half hour for our food to arrive and when it did, it was all luke warm and while Detroit pizza is supposed to have a crispy cheese crust, ours was simply burnt. We took a couple of bites & asked for the check. The waitress asked what was wrong---we said it's cold & burnt and she asked if we wanted it reheated and said she brought it out as soon as she saw it was ready. We said no we were done and asked for the check---she brought us the bill and noted that she took $10 off. After the glowing review, the disinterested service and poor food quality were unexpected and disappointing. We will not go back and would not recommend. read more

Yesterday's visit to Connor's will definitely be my last. We wanted a nice meal out and what we had was a terrible experience, mostly due to a rude busboy named Brendan, but also because the place seems to be poorly managed. Connor's was DEAD when we entered. One or two people at the bar and us as the only sitting customers. There was no owner on site, and the server, who said she doubled as a manager, was useless. I have heard the place was "hit-and-miss" but it looks like most folks are choosing to miss this mismanaged nightmare. The food was OK, but the rolls they brought were sub-par. The restaurant is stingy about substitutions, and the beer had a ridiculously tall head of foam. The food was not served together as is proper service. The roast beef was tender, but lacked au jus. Back to rude Brendan. This guy actually started vacuuming during our meal. I had to tell him to stop and he got really snippy. I then got up and went to find the manager, who, as I said, turned out to be our server. "I'll talk to him," she said. Well, this guy decided to make a loud protest in the form of slamming a divider right near our table. I let that go. Then he came back in and slammed it open so loud my elderly mother startled. It was real loud - imagine a child slamming a door - that loud. He stomped across the room. I found the manager/server again and said she needed to control the situation. "I'll talk to him," she said again. I told her he had ruined our meal. It did not end there. Brendan felt the need to come to our table and be smarmy. "Have a nice day," he sarcastically grinned at me. I went to find the manager/server again, but she left! Are you kidding me? You have your sole customers complaining about a rude busboy and you leave? This Brendan actually followed me to the door, saying - get this - "Do you want me to get my Dad on the phone." What, was I supposed to duke it out with his father? My mother said that his father may be the owner. If so, the place is definitely in trouble, as Brendn does not have a clue about customer relations. Never will I return to Connor's and I am spreading the word to all I know to avoid this mismanaged joint. I'll also try o talk to the owner today. It is too late for us, but this Brendan needs to be disciplined in the worst way. I suspect he is a symptom of a larger problem, probably an owner who is not minding the store. Do yourself a favor and go to Schwabel's instead. It's not worth the chance of bad service just to get mediocre food. read more

Connor's is a local favorite of our family. Visiting relatives from out of town enjoy when we go there for all the Buffalo favorite meals: beef on weck, fabulous fish fries, real Buffalo wings. But their menu does not stop there. Their menu is widely varied. The soup is great. The only down side is the Friday fish fry crowd sometimes requires a longer wait for the table. They also feature Patio dining (away from traffic). So many reasons for us to return regularly. read more

I can't believe some of these other reviews??? Yea the place is very old fashioned but that is part of the charm and, yea, the clientele is on the older side but that doesn't mean anything. I find the food to be about the best I've ever had anywhere, period. The roast beef is much better than the famous place across town (that is known for being old fashioned) and the burgers are the best in town. The fish fry is better than most (but not all) and the beef gravy may be the best thing I've ever tasted. Outstanding food, good service, short wait times, and very reasonable prices make Connors our favorite place to eat. read more

Food is good. Men's restroom is not. I hate to be crude but this joint needs to update its bathrooms. Its 2018! Had dinner and went to men's bathroom. Didnt have to pee if you get my drift. REALLY COULDN'T WAIT. Went in and saw a sink a urinal and a toilet WITH NO DOOR OR PRIVACY.Really??? Also no lock on bathroom door. Well I did my thing and wiped my ass as fast as I could but...not fast enough. A guy walked in and saw me, apologized and went out. I was horrified and embarrassed and really upset. What could owners possibly be thinking??? Never again AND I suggest customers take a dump b4 entering this behind the times establishment. read more

Old school Buffalo restaurant: beef on week, fish fry, French onion soup, pork chops. Most food is beige or brown, lol - nothing innovative or unique, but food is of good quality if this is the type of food you are in the mood for. The flavor of my French onion chicken w/pasta was great, but for $16 there should have been more chicken. Hubby enjoyed the breaded pork chops & kid was fine with generic Mac & cheese. Great pretzel bread to go with their artichoke dip appetizer, but I had wrongly assumed that the dip would be warm & it threw me off a bit. Also- we were BY FAR the youngest people there; we are late 30's. Ahem. Since it's right around the corner, I'm sure we'll be back at some point for a fish fry but I'm in no rush. read more

Came here a few times in the in the last few months. It seems to be geared to the over 60 crowd at lunch. The staff is pleasant and seems like they have been there forever. (which is a good thing) I did not enjoy the burger I had the first time I went. It had that texture of reheated meat. I wanted to give the place another try. I got the beef on weck. It was a great call. Carved at the bar like all the best are; it was perfectly pink, with a different roll than most. It was almost like a pretzel roll. Not my favorite type of roll, but this held up to the large portion of beef. I've been back a few more times and the beef has been the same each time. 10 bucks is on the steep-side, (sadly no fries or chips!) but a good beef is worth 10 bucks. read more

We go to Connor's Restaurant once a week. The Beef on Weck is the best I ever had. I get a side of their homemade gravy to dip it in. The french fries come out hot and I get gravy for that also! If you ever had their Reuben's you know that you will never find a better one anywhere else! I am so looking forward to trying the corned beef and cabbage! I would sooner go to a neighboring family owned restaurant and eat quality food than go to a chain food restaurant. The soups are all homemade and the chile is to die for. The clientele are both older and younger, I have met a lot of new friends at Connor's and are my friends still today! Looking forward to trying a new dish! read more

We visited this establishment again after it being on our NO GO list for the past 8 years. Well true to form they served us 2 ice cold beef on wecks on stale rolls. We will not be back again even though it is 2 blocks form our home. We've been served cold fish fries, flat beer and today cold beef! Don't waste your time or money here. There are many other restaurants that serve edible food and cold fresh beer. read more

I have never experienced such poor service in my life. The waitress abandoned our table, the food was less than mediocre. After complaining to the owner and left without tipping, the waitress screams across the parking lot Thank you. The lack of professionalism in this establishment is ridiculous. Connor's was good! The portions were very large and everything was tasty. Only complaint would be our drinks... we watched the bartender pour the first whiskey/Diet Coke concoction and it was ok. Once we were seated though, they became almost entirely soda. By the third one, we were convinced there was no whiskey at all. We were there for a late lunch so becoming intoxicated wasn't the purpose, but having paid for the drinks, we would have hoped to get a little flavor in our soda. read more

This is our second time at this place. Tonight we wanted to sit out on the back deck as the interior seating area is outdated and depressing. I had to walk through the dining room to ask someone about sitting outside. Some random guy asks if he can help me and tells me just to sit at an open table. Both times we have been to this place it seems like a free for all with the wait staff. This time our server did not introduce herself. She spoke so low I could barely hear her. After she took our drink and food order, a few minutes later another waitress handed us menus and was prepared to take our order. What a cluster! We said no, someone already helped us. We got our food, the fish was very flaky and moist, however quite greasy. She never came back to check on us. Our drinks were empty. I had to ask another server for 2 more waters. She never came back with that either. Such an irritating experience, we will not be back. read more

We thought we would try one of our local places that we always drove by. When I ordered the chicken breasts with veggies. Th chicken breast was like rubber and the waitress put in plain instead of Cajun. They were obviously frozen and microwaved. The veggies were actually CANNED green beans!! Unbelievable!! She also put the wrong drink order in. When I told her I ordered Cajun chicken breast she took it back and came out 2 seconds later with dried Cajun seasoning poured on top. I told her that I wasn't gong to eat this as it was now cold and chewy so she offered to have them "heat it up" again...I said no and I wanted to see a manager. She came out to say that it will be taken off the bill. She never did get a manger. I will never go back here again and will never recommend it. If a manager had come to our table it may have been a different story. She never apologized either!! read more

I have never had a worse dining experience in my life, or have I seen customers be treated so poorly. I went to Connor's tonight for Mother's Day with my boyfriend, his mother, and grandmother. The three of them all ordered the filet mignon off of the Mother's Day special menu. His grandmother ordered her steak med rare, and the other two ordered theirs med well, I ordered a turkey club (which was very good). All 4 steaks (my boyfriend ordered double filets) came out lightly seared and bleeding. All 3 requested the steaks be cooked a little longer, and the waitress was very nice and brought them back. After another 20 minutes, the steaks were brought back out still very red and cold. His grandmother, who likes her steak a little more on the rare side, was able to eat hers, but the other two felt they were still too rare for their liking. After the second time they sent back their steaks, they were returned black and charred! The owner then approached the table yelling at us, red in the face and angry before he even heard anything we had to say! He said "we need to learn what med rare is", only one steak was ordered med rare. I have never seen such poor customer service skills. In the end he told us to "get out" and we left with his grandmother visually upset. After an hour and a half, 2 out of 4 of us never even had a meal! It's a shame to see 2 mothers treated so poorly on Mother's Day, of all days. read more
