i called monday to express my grievance about a black substance on both dryers that had completing stained and ruined my clothing and bed sheets. i mentioned to the lady on the phone the vent grill in both dryers needed to be replaced and she went ahead and scheduled a technician to come on wednesday. on wednesday, i checked the dryers and they were NOT replaced, but the lousy tech only scraped off the substance on the vent grill. now when the dryers are on and hot, it will melt the black tar-like substance and once again ruin all materials. this company is either completely negligent or hiring incompetent workers that cannot follow directions / reasonable requests. i would personally like compensation for the damage to my property. read more

My old appliance rental company was bought out by this company. I got a letter informing me and I updated my billing info with them and set up automatic payments. This was in October last year. In May (over 6 months later) I got a very blunt letter saying that I was delinquent and owed over $400. $280 for the past due amount and a $150 penalty for non payment. I called immediately to get it straightened out. The lady I spoke with was super rude and argumentative. She made me feel like a criminal as if I purposely avoided payment. I told her I set up autopay and she said I was wrong. I said I'd pay the outstanding amount but I would not pay the penalty for their error. She said she'd make an exception for me (oh joy!). I paid the amount owed and asked if the auto pay feature could be set up moving forward with the card I used. She confirmed. She said the May amount would be taken out within the next few days. I agreed and all was peachy... Or so I thought. I was reviewing my bank statement for May and noticed the $280 was taken out but the next payment for May for $40 wasn't paid. Sigh. Not again. So I called and got a different lady. I brought her up to speed on my situation and said I felt like I was about to go through the same headache and I wanted to get in front of it to avoid another angry letter. She chimed in and said: "oh! Well looks like you haven't paid your bill in quite some time!" Let me guess... $400-ish? "yes." Uh, no. That was the amount I literally just told you about. "Oh wait. Yes it's in the notes here." So she started to lecture me about how June's payment wasn't due yet. I reminded her that may wasn't yet paid (even though I set up auto pay for a second time). She went through the notes or wherever and YUP. May wasn't paid. *Facepalm emoji* uh huh! No kidding! We got it straightened out (for now) and she said she'd process it manually. She confirmed auto pay would go through starting next month. 24 hours after it's supposed to be autopaid I'll be calling back, I'm sure. I'm just going to buy a stupid washer. It's not worth the headache. Honestly, I'd rather wash my clothes in the toilet instead of constantly dealing with this mess. read more

Our fridge began to fail right before Thanksgiving, right after we had done our shopping for the holiday. While it was covered by our landlords home owner's insurance, we all know how getting claims processed takes. Long story short, we needed a fridge immediately and this was the only place that could help us out on short notice. I called and spoke with Erica a few times because I had to coordinate on behalf of my landlord and she was incredibly understanding and helpful. Our fridge was in need of some work and in order for that to happen we had to let our current fridge thaw out for 72 hours. I needed a fridge the very next day and called two other companies who were rather rude and did not have anything available. Luckily I found these guys! Everyone that I talked to was so nice and helpful. Luis did our delivery and he was super quick, efficient, and very friendly. He made sure to wait around to see if the fridge was working correctly before he left. I rarely take the time to write reviews but Luis and his team were so great to work with that I just had to. Expect to be kept waiting on hold when you try to reach someone for 20-30 minutes and then more once they pick up. I hate that this review is going to break this company's 5-star reputation, but this past weekend, my husband and I experienced the worst customer service with Apprents. We scheduled delivery for Saturday, fully understanding the terms of delivery. We were told to call at 8:30 on the morning of delivery to verify the 2-hour window for delivery and installation of the products we are leasing. In this case, a refrigerator/freezer and washer and dryer. The refrigerator and freezer was imperative to have on this day as I was transporting over 100 ounces of frozen breast milk from San Jose to San Clemente. We fully counted on being able to keep the breast milk frozen as to not spoil my daughter's food. So, my husband called at 8:30 and was told our delivery window was between 12-2pm that day. Perfect! We even had our landlord stay at our apartment just in case the delivery happened before 8:30. When I arrived to the apartment at 11:45, we saw a "missed delivery" note time stamped at 11:00. We were puzzled as to why our delivery came an hour before the 2-hour window we were given. I phoned the customer service line and was told that my husband was called twice before 11:00 to update him on the change of schedule. That was a lie. When I verified with my husband, he confirmed that Apprents called only once and 13 min before the driver came to our house at 11:00? For any normal situation, that is a very last minute change in schedule. Customer service also told us there was a cancellation so our driver was able to arrive sooner and it is our fault for not being available and answering our phone. How is this OUR problem as customers when we confirmed the delivery time in advance? We were then told there was no way to accommodate delivery for Saturday because our driver had a route. We felt cheated especially since the time change happened and it was not verbally confirmed by us. The one thing they did right that day was fully refund us our money back. We ended up buying a refrigerator and freezer from Sears that day because of the gravity of the situation. We needed to keep my daughter's food from spoiling! Any parent would be just as upset over this situation. It's unfortunate that this company could care less. Recommendation to future customers: do not trust the two hour window they give you. Stay home all day and keep your phone on ringer if you want a guarantee that your appliances will arrive. read more

I would've given 5 stars if it was solely based on my first delivery. But unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience for my 2nd delivery. First delivery: placed my order online, received a courtesy call 45 min before the delivery, and the driver arrived right on time. He was courteous and very quick. Customer Service (phone): I called right when they opened (around 8:15am) to request another delivery, then was immediately put on hold for about a minute or two. Then, it made me leave a voice message and hang up (no option to continue holding). I left a message and asked to call me back. Well, 3pm comes around and I still didn't get a call back. Hmm, how busy can this company get? So I went on their website and started a chat. A rep responded right away. She wasn't as helpful as I wanted, but she got my order in so I was happy. Second delivery: I called in the morning to ask for an estimated delivery time. I was told that the driver would be there around noon to 2pm. He ended up arriving an hour and a half later (at 3:30pm) with a refrigerator handle on the wrong side. So on top of delivering this refrigerator, he had to switch the handles. There was no ridiculous 4 or 5 references needed, landlord, and various other information that is usually needed by some other places. A deposit and first month's rent was reasonable. Contract options were reasonable. Prices are reasonable and competitive. I received confirmation after my order was placed. On the day of delivery I was the last stop, which I knew. I received a call about 20 minutes before arrival. The technicians arrived on time and were courteous. They took extra care not to scratch walls or the refrigerator. I rented a 10-foot fridge from them for a year and it was great quality, looked brand new when I got it, and I didn't have any issues throughout the whole year! He was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful making sure he answered any questions for us. Luis also game to pick up our stuff at the end of June and once again was super friendly and helpful. Overall, my experience with C.A.R. was nothing short of amazing. Rented a fridge from them for just over 2 years and during that time, I didn't run into a single problem with the unit. C.A.R. was the first business interaction I've had in a long while where I actually felt like a valued customer and was treated as such. An example of this was during the initial renting of my fridge. I wasn't 100% sure what size was going to fit in my kitchen...it seemed to fall right in between 2 sizes. Instead of forcing me to pick one prior to delivery, they loaded a few different options onto the truck and would determine the best fit upon arrival. When I came home, the size they selected fit perfectly. Another example that demonstrated their customer service was my interactions with my delivery driver, Luis. Luis was friendly, professional, and informative. Not only did he remember delivering my fridge 2 years prior, he respectfully provided courtesy calls 30 minutes prior to arrival on both my delivery and pickup and finally, he professionally reminded me and walked me through the deposit return process and really made sure no stone was left unturned or question unanswered upon pickup. James, the technician who delivered and installed the appliances was super awesome! He went above and beyond with our appliance installation. Our house didn't have the proper part for connecting the water hose to the washer. He didn't hesitate to help by going to Home Depot pick up the part and install it. Should be zero stars! Horrible! My husband rented a fridge for our apartment. It stopped working over a weekend and they didn't get my message until Monday. At that point, $150 worth of groceries were bad. When I called about it they asked if I had receipts for the food. I don't know about you, but I don't typically save food receipts. We were highly annoyed but let it go. Well, the replacement they gave us was infested with ROACHES!!! We have now spent hundreds of dollars and lots of time getting rid of them. I rented a refrigerator from this company. A month later , I discovered a nest of roaches in the bottom, when the babies hatched out. I immediately called for a replacement and a credit to my account. They promised the replacement would be here next day, that I would be the first stop, that the driver would arrive by 10:30am. Rented a modestly-sized fridge from Consolidated Appliance Rental for just over two years at a reasonable rate with only one incident: the fridge suddenly stopped working the day before Thanksgiving 2016. A quick call to them the very next morning yielded an immediate replacement, in spite of the holiday. Although stressful, under the circumstances the service was excellent. I am writing this review having just said goodbye to the rented fridge (having purchased a much larger, fancier fridge). The employee (Carlos) who came - on a Saturday (an exception that was granted at my request) - not only speedily removed the old fridge, but also disconnected an extraneous cable on the new fridge, as well as moved the new fridge into its proper place. Excellent customer service. I just called this morning for repair of my fridge rental and they were able to come today. Mainor showed up within the two hour window and fixed it in a jiffy. Also, when I first rented the fridge last May, the door opened in the opposite direction from what I ordered. They corrected the issue by swapping out refrigerators the next day. I moved into my new apartment which did not include a fridge. After weighing my options of buying a new one (~$600), getting one from Craigslist ($~150 with soo much hassle), or renting one, I found C.A.R. And oh man. They were great. I don't trust companies unless if they have multiple reviews from people of various Yelp backgrounds, so this site stood out immediately. With the downside of giving them your Soc Sec #, everything else is completely easy and simple. I filled out my application, requested my fridge, and they were delivering the next day. When I called at 8am to ask about the 2 hour delivery window they would deliver at, they confirmed my address--and it was wrong! They were going to deliver to my billing address, not the shipping address, which is 60 miles east of LA. I was apologetic and the customer service lady was SO nice. She tracked down the driver early to make sure he delivered to my LA apartment the same day. He made it to my LA apartment just fine. He needed no help getting the fridge up a flight of stairs, installed it, and didn't give my boyfriend a hard time for not being me (I was at work). The fridge is used, but perfectly new looking on the inside. No smells, working well, and with plenty of adjustable compartments. I usually go by Yelp reviews when choosing a service provider, and was excited about this company because of the high reviews. But I was incredibly disappointed. I called Consolidated on Monday for a stacked washer/dryer unit.The first call was great, sounded promising. Today, I get the delivery. They said they would call me in the morning to tell me what time the delivery would be. They call me at 7 am (sleeping) to tell me the delivery will be at 9 am (still sleeping). Okay, not too bad, I know I sometimes forget that the rest of the world starts a little earlier than myself. The delivery guy comes in and sees the room where it will go. He asks me to clear a path (there are moving boxes everywhere) and I do. He sees that where it will go is up stairs and that there are a set of outdoor stairs to the front door. He seems unfazed. I think to myself, "how is he going to get it up the stairs by himself?" My brain is still foggy from being abruptly awoken a few short minutes prior, and realize that he must have someone else in the truck with him. He's supposed to be a pro right? I go back about my business and he goes to the truck. I glance out to check on him from time to time, and see that he has parked in a different place further down the street. I live on a hill, and he parked downhill so I thought that was going to be difficult, but again, it's not my job to worry about these things. Then, 30 minutes later, he comes to the door and says that he can't get the washer and dryer up the stairs by himself (shocker). Is it okay to leave it in front of my house for the night so he can come back tomorrow? Uh, sure? I ask my boyfriend and roommate and they say its ok, so I tell him sure. I get on a conference call and start getting interrupted with calls from my mother, and then from my boyfriend who is also getting calls from my mother. I finally call her back and she tells me that the delivery company has been calling her about the delivery. I had given her number as a reference, but why they called her about delivery is beyond me. I'm annoyed at this point. And slightly concerned about the expensive appliance sitting on my doorstep. I call Consolidated and use the nicest voice I can muster. "Am I responsible if something happens to it while its sitting in front of my house?" "Yes." Ok, awesome. "I'm not comfortable with that. Is there any way you can send someone out today to take care of it?" "The driver confirmed that he could leave it there, right?" "Yes, but I didn't fully understand the repercussions of that." "But you said he could leave it there." "Yeah, because a nice man was asking me if it was okay for him to not carry this incredibly heavy piece of machinery back to the truck. That's a pretty uncomfortable position to put me in, especially if you don't also tell me that I will be responsible for anything that happens to it." I blame this patriarchal society for conditioning me to be uncomfortable saying no. "He asked you if he could leave it there and you said yes." "YES." (Nice voice is wearing thin now.) "Can we move past this? I did confirm that he could, but I didn't have all the information. Let's focus on the things that could have happened instead. 1) He could have realized on the initial walkthrough that it would have been hard to carry it up the stairs by himself. 2) He could have realized while he was unloading it from the truck that it would have been hard to carry it up the stairs. 3) He could have realized while he was dragging it up the hill that it would have been hard to carry it up the stairs. Why am I suffering because he didn't remember that stairs are hard until he was standing in front of them?" "But you confirmed...." "Just pick up the washer and dryer and cancel my order." So she just started cancelling it and said that they would get someone out today to pick it up. I'm weak-willed, so if she had just tried a little bit to turn it around, I totally would have been cool. But she gave me no opportunity to back out, no apologies or regrets. I got another call from someone else there, and she said that they're going to send out a more experienced driver to pick it up. Did I want to cancel still or have them deliver it tomorrow? I'd like to keep the delivery, but they're not giving me much to hold on to here. They said that the driver I had was new, and he might have been nervous doing it himself, but the guy that they're sending out may be able to do it by himself and he'll try. Now we're getting somewhere. I say that he can try and that I won't cancel. It's not hard to be nice. I'm so nice that I feel terrible leaving a bad review, so I'm going to go leave 3 good reviews to offset it. You don't need to give a discount (though it'd be nice), just make me feel heard! BEST SERVICE EVER! We were surprised we got the fridge and washer/dryer when we did. We ordered the appliances at night around 5 or 6pm and they delivered the next day!! Crazy fast. I also have to say my installer Luis was the best... Unfortunately our washer/dryer hookup was weirdly placed but he was able to get the hoses to reach no problem. ALSO our refrigerator water hookup was out of reach but Luis found an adapter in his truck that saved me a confusing trip to Home Depot! Thank God.
