Had one of my best appliance repair experiences ever. It's a small business in Gardena called South Bay Appliance. This company is very professional from top to bottom with the service side being outstanding. Have had a Frigidaire refrigerator giving me loads of problems and the costs were rising over 600.00. As consumers, we're at the mercy at times of the repair company when it comes to charges. But, South Bay Appliance came to the rescue! I set up the appointment with them and Tom came out to analyze the problem. Within an hour, he found the issue and communicated with me the cost to repair. The cost was so reasonable and had Tom do the job. The overall experience with South Bay Appliance was excellent and I've found my new appliance repair company. As bad as it gets. We were "assisted" by Randy, also as bad as it gets. READ YOUR INVOICE that they have you sign before accepting the $2385 of dollars purchase. It says all sales are final. It means even if the appliances do not work. At All! We bought a range, fridge, and microwave. The microwave has not worked since we brought it home. Plug it in, and it doesn't respond to any button selected. Assuming they stand behind it, I called Randy. After a condescending speech about how to use a microwave, I said I've been using one for fifty years. He said verbatim, "they don't make them like they used to". It was less than a week after purchasing. I found a better one at Costco for about the same price. I recommend anywhere but here. read more

Bought a washer and dryer from here. We were given the option of delivery before 1pm or after 1pm. We specifically and intentionally chose AFTER 1pm and it was confirmed with the sales person multiple times. Delivery came around 9am, which luckily I was home to receive the delivery. The delivery men were nice, professional, helpful and got the job done. But it just incredibly frustrating that the delivery time was wrong, especially for such a big purchase. read more

I can't advocate enough for this business. They had me take pictures of where my refrigerator needed to be installed and talked me out of a 12,000 fridge. (Would have fit too tight and been awkward with an opposing pantry door. They also referred to a crane man who charges 1/3of the price of other crane companies. Lesson learned, don't buy a costly appliance from a small store. I thought I bought a $3,000 lemon and worse was the 2-month run-around (and ongoing) I received. Once the salesperson sells you the product and have you signed some CYA documents of which I forgot to ask for a copy, his job is done. Got trouble with the expensive machine with a 5-year warranty? You'll be sent to the service department and subjected to their "best" technician who turned out to make matters worse. Twice, it was everything else but the fault of the purchased appliance. I had three service visits and the last one was thankfully, an honest tech who provided the only relevant and sensible explanation to the problem and then provided a solution. Unlike the first one who talked out of both sides of the mouth and left me totally confused as to the messages he gave me as opposed to his colleagues at the store. The two delivery guys did a phenomenal job lifting the unboxed fridge up our stairwell with their bare hands. I had originally purchased the same sized fridge on Amazon (lured by the prime sale) last week but their delivery team (a guy & a girl!) wouldn't attempt carrying up stairwell (box too big) - transaction canceled. Note: this is what I get for buying an appliance from Amazon. Half the delivery duo - female. And they don't care. On the other hand, SBA delivery guys unopened box downstairs and made it happen. I've come here for a few appliances over the years. I always seek out Vincent, who has been in the industry for many years and knows his stuff. We recently purchased a Speed Queen washer and dryer. This brand was recommended to us by Myrna from Gardena Appliance Repair, who constantly came to repair our LEMON Frigidaire appliances. When I talked to Vincent, he also recommended Speed Queen. Prior to purchasing the appliances, Vincent and I worked out the logistics of the delivery (two flights of stairs, haul away old ones, etc.). So, when I was ready to purchase, he just pulled up my paperwork and processed the order. The guys who made the delivery arrived on time and were friendly and efficient. With the other washer, we had to remove the doors for them to fit. The guy who did the install put the doors back on for me. They cleaned up the water that dripped from the old washer. Incompetent fridge repair people. Have an LG fridge that suddenly started getting frost build up after years of no issue. Called to have someone come out and look at it. Repair guy didn't run any tests and blew us off saying that we were just leaving the freezer door ajar. Next thing, the whole fridge stops working. Nothing is cooling at all. So we call the repair guy back. He sees the compressor is hot and that power is going to it and says the compressor is bad and a new one will be $1500. (That price being a joke is another issue.) We ask about could the issue be the start relay. He blew us off saying that wasn't it and it's the compressor without testing any other components. When we checked later we found he had disconnected the start relay and never reconnected it. Fortunately we decided to go online and order a couple of parts that were cheap. ($15 and $32). We put in a new start relay ourselves and now the fridge is perfectly fine. Additionally, He was not careful when handling our appliance. When pulling out the fridge we asked him to wait because it was too close to the counter and went to help. He continued to pull out the fridge and stated that it didn't matter because we'd be getting rid of it anyway. Rude to say, disrespectful, and damaged the fridge. Find someone who will treat you with care and do their due diligence to determine what the true issue is and not just try to overcharge you for something that wasn't even wrong. read more

Dan fixed our dryer vent hose, which probably got disconnected when the washer (stacked washer/dryer) got imbalanced and moved backwards. He willingly cleaned all the lint that had accumulated under the washer and on the walls of the enclosure. Dan also checked the washer to make sure it was working properly. read more

I can't say enough about the service and knowledge of our sales representative Vincent. We explained that we have a small laundry closet, gave him some measurements and he had a recommendation. It did not stop there, he asked for photos of the laundry closet showing tape measurements to make sure that what he was suggesting would fit. I went to the showroom and informed the salesman of my request and he informed me that they do have someone who can but they weren't in the store that day so he took my information and I was told I'd get a call on Monday. Monday & Tuesday came and went so I called Wednesday spoke to a service staff person informing them of my situation and I was told they don't install appliances that weren't purchased from them; understandable. My complaint is that I waited for them to get back to me and waisted time when I could've found someone who could do what I'm requesting. We had ordered a new refrigerator. Clint was great at the sale. But the service is horrible. We got a call when our frig would be delivered. We were given a 3 hour window, they showed up an hour past the window. They had to remove the refrigerator doors to get in the house. They were very rush. They left, didn't explain anything about the frig. Did not install the air filter, or remove all the plastic that comes inside the frig wrapped on handles or shelves. After he left we reviewed the package of papers. Found a door leveler, we checked the door, not level. Call them the next day told me will call and let me know who and when they could come out. I have had to call them 3 times in the past week and still don't have time to come fix what they didn't do because they were in. Big hurry to get to the next delivery. We have used this company for many years. The service department has gotten horrible. They are supposed to call you the morning of your repair and give you a window of morning and afternoon. We didn't get a call at all. At 10 am we called. The lady said oh between 2 and 5. No reason they didn't call us. At 500 we called to find out about our service and again couldn't find the technician and couldn't give us an answer. It's 515 and still don't have an answer. My 10 yr old Maytag washer started doing funny things and making grinding sounds so rather than spend money on maintenance since I had no warranty in affect anymore, I called Southbay Appliance as I've been doing for years, spoke with my favorite salesman Vince and he convinced me to buy the Rolls-Royce of washing machines: a Speed Queen top loading machine with a seven year full warranty on parts and service ; the total cost installed was $1500 including hauling away my old machine and hooking up my new one; it couldn't have been any easier I spent more than I wanted to, figuring I could just walk into Best Buy, Home Depot, or even Costco and buy a machine for half that price and I probably could have; Vince told me the inventory was low at Southbay appliance and low all over the country due to the supply chain slow down and that many people are still waiting 6 to 8 weeks or longer to get there Appliances; The machine that I bought was in stock and was delivered to my house and installed 4 days after I ordered it; I was assured that using this machine on light usage as a single person, it would last me 20+years; I trust Vincent and I give this company a five star rating , you can't go wrong ! read more

Very disappointed with the lack of follow up and customer service specifically from the sales department. Purchased a Speed Queen washer and dryer for our home in PV while still living in Northern California. When we asked about pedestals, both my husband and I were told that the appliances were quite tall and we may not need the pedestals. Delivery and set up went well. When we arrived and saw the appliances, we realized we were ill advised and definitely needed the pedestals. I called and got Randy, the sales rep. Ended up he never followed through and I called several times to ask about purchasing these pedestals and inquired about delivery/installation costs. He told me that he'd have to talk to the owner and would get right back to me. Each day he failed to call, so I called him again at the end of each day or the following morning. And each time he answered with the same reply of being too busy with the "weight of the world on his shoulders" tone and reflection. He never followed through on our original inquiry of delivery discount and had completely forgotten what we were asking for daily...for two weeks! South Bay Appliance sell the Speed Queen pedestals for more money than what's listed online and for what Howard's appliances sells them for. Well, we are beyond two weeks, and Randy who was to call me back again, per his words, so I could order and pay for the pedestals has yet to call us back! Bet the owner never received our inquiry. Thank goodness for Howard's Appliances...BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER and LESS EXPENSIVE!!! SHOP HOWARD'S APPLIANCE if you want to have a great experience and not overpay!!! My Mom made a appointment to get her oven thermostat fixed. The appointment was for between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and that was to late for her. So she called back to change it to a earlier time and the said not a chance. We only go in your area at those particular times. My Mom is recently widowed and live alone so she didn't want someone in the house that late in the day. They couldn't even make a exception for her. We have purchased multiple appliances from them and that made NO difference. That's sad. So that is the last time that we buy anything from this cheap run down appliance company. Family owned and operated since 1929. This is still a small town mom and pop shop in it's third generation of ownership. They do appliance repairs, sales and installs. I like dealing with them over the box stores because I have had a relationship with them for over 20 years. They always know the part I need (even though it was all burned to hell), and if I get in over my head on trying to fix it myself they'll bail me out with only a little ribbing. Their selection of appliances may not be a big as the box stores, but they can get just about anything and their prices are competitive. Just remember that the big stores get different model numbers (even between big stores) so that you cannot shop around. You need to match features, not model numbers. In the end, even if it did cost a little more, I'd gladly pay it for the personalized customer service! read more

They had the parts for my stove on hand, AND said I could call back with specs on the fridge parts. I did so the next day. Lo and behold, the parts I needed were available the very next day.
