I remember when I was a child. Going to endicott off a side street and entering Duffs pizza with my parents, grandparents and my sister. Just the smell alone was mouth watering. Something about their thin crispy pizza with about any topping you can imagine was so delicious. When Duffs closed and Consol's opened I thought different name different pizza. But, I was so happily surprised that it was the same pizza. Thank god they didn't change it. Went there yesterday for the first time and wow! I got the margarita pizza which was so delicious and crispy. I wish I had a picture. My boyfriend absolutely loves pasta and it's basically all he eats. He was blown away by the pasta and vodka sauce! Definitely recommend going we had a great time. I have eaten at Consol's for years. There are a few food items they do very well. Their grilled spinach artichoke and spicy Italian sausage pizzas are really good. I fully respect and appreciate their way of using white paper for take out pizzas. I hate soft chewy pizza crust. Their gnocchi Bianca has a very nice texture, a little bit firm and a little bit chewy which I find very special and appealing. The white sauce goes really nice with the gnocchi. Rigatoni Maria is another dish with white sauce which is pretty yummy. Their white sauce is really rich and yummy and they use tons of butter to make that sauce. Any left overs will come out of the box in one solid lump on a fork. If you hold the fork upright nothing comes a apart or falls off. I still love the sauce so I only eat these dishes maybe once or twice per year. The fried calamari is terrible! I can taste something alkaline (maybe baking soda used to tenderize the calamari). The calamari is definitely made with frozen calamari. The other Italian place on Washington Ave use fresh small calamari tender and sweet. Consol's calamari I give it a 1 on scale of 1-10. Not worth the $9.00. Nothing about their calamari gave any morsels of food pleasure. Now, dishes.... their chicken is cooked done done so .... bit dry. When paying $17 for an order of Chicken Sofia, the chicken is dry and the artichoke is so fibrous that I had to remove the outer layers of the artichokes, it is a problem. When the two main ingredients that attracted me to order the dish are not good then what is the selling point for the Dish? There was not enough sauce. More sauce would have been able to be used to mask the dry chicken. With so little sauce the pasta was crying for sauce never mind the dry chicken. I love to cook. When you grab the marinated artichoke hearts you can easily tell if the outer layer is tough. Your finger tips has that direct line to your brain that said "feels like dried leaves. Must be tough .... do something!!! It will ruin your dish!" A good chef who cares about quality of food they produce will and must make the adjustments to produce a dish that is enjoyable for the customers to eat. This is not a tall order. This shows a cook who does the job mechanically. A disappointing dish for me. Whenever I ordered takeout from Consol's, every single time there is a small loaf of bread and there are always a few of those individual packs of butter thrown in, They sits on top of the hot food. By the time I get the take out home in 10 min the butter is so hot it has separated. When this butter cools off it becomes this water then a mess of disgusting bit of grainy yellow butterfat. Other places puts the bread and butter in a separate paper bag so this does not happen. Another of the lack of attention not even detail but common sense. The service is always pleasant. I have never had a bad service there. The ladies even the bus boys are always really nice. The restaurant is always busy. I am all for local business success. I am glad their business is doing well and stood the test of time. I still orders the few items I like there but only a few times per year. read more

I'd actually rate Consol's about 2 1/2 stars--something less than AOK but not quite meh. I know there are those who are Consol's fans but I am not one of those people. The majority of entrees I've had were ok, but nothing that I would care to have again. I did like the rigatoni parmagiana because any pasta heaped with cheese is a win in my book. The pizza (hot pies) are a little on the salty side for me and extra greasy (so if you're carrying out, bring something to protect your car as you don't get a box as they "wrap" the pizza). Didn't even get to try the food. We were seated fairly quickly but then ignored for the next 15 minutes. When we asked the hostess if we were going to see a server anytime soon, she seemed completely at a loss what to do. We finally gave up and left, and were then chased out into the parking lot by the server who wanted to explain why they were so short-handed. Suggestion to the restaurant: fix the problem when you have busy nights and short staff. read more

Consol's in Endicott is a great place for a few specific menu items. Their pizza is a favorite in the area. It is consistently delicious and has a nice thin crust. The Gnocchi Bianca is another dish I crave and can only satisfy at Consol's, it's flavorful and so good every time, opposed to some of the other pasta dishes I have tried, which lack flavor and enough seasoning. My last recommendation is their chicken cutlet with mushroom sauce. Again, consistent, well flavored and satisfying. Good food, poor service. It took over 5 minutes to be seated and an additional 10 minutes to even have drink orders taken. We would routinely wait 5-10 minutes for drinks to be refilled once we got them. However, if you can bear the slow service, the food is fairly good. I've been going to Consol's since the early 90's and EVERY meal has been excellent. Their pizza is phenomenal and you'll love the entrees. It's the kind of place you can dress up a little and go for something special with family or a group or just wear your jeans and be yourself. Order anything on the menu- you won't leave hungry or disappointed. The garlic soup is just awesome, the salads are always fresh, and even the bread they bring for the table will put a smile on your face (I believe it's from the 100 year old Italian bakery a few doors up the street). Consol's for a long time was one of my favorite Italian restraunts. I feel the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. I had homemade angel hair pasta with their tomato sauce with meatballs. The meatballs were flavorless and the sauce was watery and had burnt taste to it. read more

My favorite Italian place in the northern part of Endicott NY. This area was settled a few generations ago by Italian immigrants who went to work for the Johnson Shoe Factory. As a result, you can get spoiled for choices in this area for good Italian-American food. Consol's pizza is my absolute favorite of all time - get the thin crust pizza. They put a tall wire tray on the table with your pizza, so there's more room for plates and other dishes. Another favorite of mine is the Chicken Milanese with lots of garlic. The atmosphere is very informal, so don't expect tablecloths. The service is fast and friendly. It's a local tradition - which I can highly recommend. Attend with my GF and we were both very upset with out dinner, I got Chicken Alfredo and received a poorly cooked example; very little chicken, the sauce was gritty and overly salty and the noodles were over cooked. I have been eating here for years and I am completely shocked by how poor our experience was. My GF got Eggplant parm and received a soggy excuse of what she was expecting. Today is my wife's birthday. She wanted to go to Franks in Maine NY but they are closed on Mondays So she decided we should go to Consol's in Endicott. What a mistake that was. After being seated quite quickly, there we sat. And sat. And sat. Finally after almost 20 minutes our server showed up and asked if we needed more time!!! Well she took our order and when it arrived the sauce was very thick and almost had a burnt taste. After eating (some) we once again waited for our check. Our server shows up and gives us our check and the amount was outrageous Come to find out she gave us the wrong check. After straightening that out we give her our credit card and she disappears, next thing we know she's waiting on other tables. She did finally return. My husband and I had dinner there last night . I tried the Ahi Tuna , but had to send it back . It was too fishy. I've had Ahi tuna before in other restaurants so I know how it should taste. Consol's is my absolute favorite restaurant. It's a family run place that has been around for years. I've been going there since I was a kid but didn't start appreciating how good it is until I was probably 18 or so. They have the most delicious homemade pasta ever. I also really enjoy their pizza. Everything has a very authentic flavor to it. I also love that they have root-beer! I live over 5 hours away and each time we go back for a visit I look forward to it like a little kid in a candy shop. Moved to this area 8 years ago and Consol's is the only place I have found that knows how to make pizza.

Consol's Kitchen is all about the pizza. It reminds me of Chef Boyardee. Really thin crust and crispy. If you get it to go, they wrap it up in paper which I've never seen anywhere else. On a recent trip the spaghetti was really undercooked and the meatball was cold. The salad was so-so at best. My kids wouldn't eat anything but the pizza which was awesome. They all agreed that they'd go back but only for the pizza. I like it because it reminds me of Duff's when I was a kid. Price is awesome but the pies are so thin you might want to order several. read more

Food is awesome......problem tonight in the parking lot.....I parked in the back in the take-out and some lady blocked me in with a big truck....Thanks to an awesome man getting into his car....he tried to help me get out.....lady comes out to get in her truck and man says "you blocked her in" she says "this is the to go parking" I say when this lot is full there is parking in the lot across the street......man says" not even an I'm sorry??" she says "well if the lady wasn't such a *****"" .......I barely said 5 words to her only mentioning there is additional parking in the other lot, BTW I had my TO GO order in the car waiting, just thinking this lady is NO lady.....thank you to the awesome man (and his wife) for trying to help me out..................................................... read more

My wife & I love this place and do go there quite often. Our problem with them is they are now charging for extra sauce on your meal. I think this is stupid for Jimmy Consol to do this! Used to be wonderful. The last 6 times I called for takeout, a man picked up who sounds like the same person each time. I always get a different excuse for why they can't take my order (pizza or gnocchi, one order). Often times I'm put on hold and have waited up to 15 minutes. I suspect the man answering the phone is trying to slow down the kitchen to a more leisurely pace. He always sounds very angry or lethargic when answering the phone. read more

We have gone to this restaurant since my father was a small boy - always recommended it to out of town friends - and was excited to go tonight to celebrate my dad's birthday. What a disappointment. The homemade pasta was hard as a rock, and even when we asked them to bring a bowl that was cooked properly, we were told this is how homemade pasta tastes, and they brought us another bowl cooked exactly the same way! OMG! Never tell an Italian that homemade pasta is supposed to be hard! The veal was expensive and sadly, overcooked - never has that happened before. The salad was not crisp and fresh! How frustrating and unsatisfying. This place used to be great -but now, we will not spend our money there and instead seek out the finer homemade pasta restaurants in town. Great pizza at a great price. But what I love is the pasta - actual homemade fresh pasta! I cannot describe how much better this pasta is than anything I've ever had anywhere else, I just love it! The house Italian salad dressing (I get it on the side) makes for a delicious salad, although I find it puzzling that occasionally the salad is more like just salad mix with a couple of additions, while other times, it contains a variety of fresh greens. Ambiance could use an upgrade, but with food this good, I really don't care too much about the environment. Highly recommended, but get there early - I don't believe they take reservations and especially on weekends the wait can be ridiculous. read more
