I didn't know what to expect when I walked in because I was going purely by Yelp reviews I had glossed over. It didn't disappoint. The decor is very basic and not pretentious. They let the food do the talking for them and talk, it does... Wow. Extremely flavorful dishes, some of which I've never seen on any other menu like "bone marrow". I'm so glad I tried it because it was a really good dish. Hush Puppies are also on point and the burgers were everything I hoped for. No detail is overlooked -even the bun was better than most. Server Nate was engaging and knowledgeable about the dishes and the concept of the restaurant. I will absolutely come back and am thankful that it's so close. Calamari was super salty as well as the brussel sprout appetizer. The bartender did not know what a "hot and dirty" martini was, but she attempted to make one anyway. I did not drink it, but was still charged. My boyfriends beer also had a foamy soap/film on top, which we brought to the attention of the bartender. She told us "the line hasn't been used in a while", and gave him a different beer. Overall, not impressed and will not be back. read more

Pros: Food is creative fresh and made with love. Everything we ordered on a Saturday night was visually pleasing, portioned well ,very hot and full of flavor . Also,the lights were a bit too bright for a cozy Saturday night out for cocktails and dinner and music selection was a bit off. Good lighting and music are critical to creating a good vibe in a space and it should be given attention it deserves. Another element that made the space feel unwelcoming was that the chairs they have are made of metal and were very hard and cold. In addition to the cold chairs, the door that opens up directly into the bar area blows a breeze into the entire space. Customers should be directed to the other entrance which would provide a bit of a buffer from the elements for the patrons who are dining.In my opinion, the owners would be well served to invest in some booths and dividers to cozy up the place asap. Well, what can I say about this place. There is only one word that comes to mind... PHENOMENAL. That's right! In all caps! I was absolutely blown away by every course we ordered here. My wife and I came here for the RI Food Fights Wing challenge, and we were pleasantly surprised by our experience. The wings were delicious, fall off the bone, juicy but crispy hunks of goodness! Croquettes were perfectly crunchy and smooth inside. Gnocchi bolognese. That. Is. All. This has been the best bolognese I have ever had. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked pillows of awesomeness. The cheesy grits were to die for! Cooked perfectly and in a "lake of butter", but not in a bad way, as per my wife. The service complimented the food very well. I went there for the third time tonight -- it was amazing , just as it's been the previous two! Tonight we had the cauliflower and brussel sprout apps, both were delicious but DO NOT miss the brussel sprouts. We both had to actually tell ourselves out loud to slow down so we didn't finish it in two minutes (very generous portion, we just couldn't stop it was so good!!). For a main I ordered the pork belly special. It was served over a bed of greens and had these incredible fritters on the side. Definitely one of the richer dishes I've had there and it was done so well!! You can never go wrong with the wings (a staple here), and even the seemingly simple salads are made with the most fresh and delicious ingredients. So lucky we have this local gem! read more

Went for dinner with my husband a few weeks ago. Split 3 starters and 1 entree. The croquetas and piquillo peppers were amazing. The calamari with sausage was ok (my husband loved it, but I thought the sausage was a bit overpowering). We had the gnocchi entree. Meat ragu is to die for. Ended with shortcake. Cook & Dagger is one of my favorite places to eat. The daily wing specials are always imaginative and delicious. The wings fall off the bone without being soggy. The grilled Caesar is to die for, I've literally never had anything on the menu that I didn't love. Sunday brunch is excellent, try the 'breakfast in a jar' with braised short rib. We've stopped by here a couple of times and have never been disappointed. I really enjoy the different beer they have on tap and it's typically from brewery's that are not found at every other restaurant in the area. The menu isn't large but it has options for everyone. My wife is gluten free and they have multiple options available to cater to that restriction. We were able to meet Ed after a confrontation with an upset customer and had a great time with him, as he was very pleasant and reserved during the episode. We'll certainly be back again. read more

Extraordinary! We came here on a whim when our Friday night go to was too busy. We had been meaning to check it out but never found the right time. I so wish we had done this sooner. The brussel sprout appetizer was incredible. I had the roast duck ramen, my husband had scallops and a friend with us ordered a burger. Every entree was unique and truly perfect. I had dinner here a few nights ago. 1st thing to know is that there's a parking lot in the back of the restaurant. It occupies the same space as an animal clinic, but you're able to park there minus where the signs dictate otherwise. Overall, the restaurant has good ambiance and friendly staff. Our waitress was friendly and was knowledgeable about the menu giving us pointers on what to try. The food was delicious; however, it was very, very salty. My friend had the bolognese and I had the scallop special with pea fritters. If it wasn't so salty, it would've had the perfect balance of flavors and thus the 3 star rating. I'll definitely try it again and hopefully the salt profile won't be as prominent. read more

SO. GOOD. Cook and Dagger has been on my list for a while now but we just got around to going last night because we weren't in the mood for Providence. It was quiet at 7:15 on a Friday but not dead. Our waiter (hi Cam!) was friendly and knowledgeable. He made everything sound good but we would not have ordered the wings du jour if he didn't tell us they were confit. That nights sauce was honey mustard with bacon jam- they were AMAZING. Like best I ever had. Also, the bread for the table was biscuits and cornbread with a maple butter hat wasn't abrasively mapley, I snuck the remaining pieces into my togo container (sorry). For dinner my fiancé got a pork sandwich he really enjoyed, I got the fried chicken sandwich which was served on a biscuit. It was to die for- however the biscuit was A BISCUIT and immediately disintegrated upon first bite. The flavors were so great I can't even take off any stars, but wrap that shit like a Johnny Rockets burger to make it a little easier! I hate to select two stars but the description of "I've experienced better" is apt. As others have mentioned the staff is very friendly and the ingredients are fresh. The problem? Each dish we tried had too many flavors going on, all fighting for your attention. As a group we ordered the Brussels sprouts, charred octopus salad, and chicken croquette apps. Each came with a cacophony of flavors...it was like a fight for your taste buds. The beet salad entree and low country carbonara were just so many flavors...overwhelming the palate. This place is a hidden gem. Amazing meal the best we have had in a long time. We live in Franklin and are not impressed with any restaurants in the area. This place is a bit off the beaten path but well worth it. I almost don't want to write a review. Our meal was unreal. Farm to table, so fresh and so delicious. Great service and very nice atmosphere. We got 2 appetizers the crispy fingerlings with braised short ribs were to die for and the appetizer special was a crispy duck leg in a soy sauce with mushrooms and bok Choy, amazing crispy skin and soft duck meat. I had the scallop special with polenta, so good. My husband had the gnocchi with bolognese, great flavor, I think the gnocchi were homemade so soft. My father in law had the hanger steak, he's very picky. He said it's the best steak he's had in years. He even ate the Brussels sprouts, I had a bite and I have to agree very flavorful steak, cooked perfectly and I loved the Brussel sprouts nice and crisp. For dessert we had the bailey's creme brûlée, we were spoon fighting over it. I can't say enough you can taste the love the chef puts into his food. We will becoming regulars.
