Food was good and fresh. My issue is their claim they offer gluten-free options. Offering a burger with no bun is not an alternative - it's an omission. We stayed and worked within the confines of the menu - she had a salad. However, while there, another couple came and left after learning the truth. Went here on restaurant week. Had a fabulous meal! We started w/chicken wings (not part of restaurant week); tried the jalapeño wings, BBQ wings, & traditional buffalo wings. They were cooked well; crispy. Flavor was good, not great; certainly wasn't disappointed. I had croquettes as my appetizer; the star of the meal for sure. So tasty! My meal was gnocchi; very, very good. And heated well for my lunch the next day For dessert, I had the bread pudding. This was really good too...finished every bite...lol! I should have read the reviews on here and on Google before coming. First of all, the food was bland. It looked fabulous, but the taste was awful. My husband didn't like his either. I could get over bad food, but the way the "owner" or whatever she is speaks to the customers leaving bad reviews is atrocious. Her parents should be ashamed and embarrassed. If you haven't tried Cook & Dagger yet, do yourself a favor and do so as soon as possible. My daughter and I ate dinner there tonight and it was phenomenal from start to finish. The decor is simple, but very pleasant and relaxing. I like that it isn't fussy and lets the food speak for itself. The service was top notch. Chris was very attentive and happy to answer all of our many questions. The food was absolutely delicious, some of the best I've had in a long time. We had the pork ribs appetizer. They were fall off the bone tender and the spices and even the vegetable garnishes were very flavorful. My daughter had the crispy skin salmon with cappellini cake and spinach. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the cappellini cake was as unique as it was tasty. I had a pork belly burger with lemon grass served with slaw on a brioche bun, which was a special for the night, and it was the one of the best burgers I've ever had. Even the fries were perfectly seasoned and crisped. We were stuffed, but had to order the banana creme brûlée because everything had been so outstanding. Served with fresh whipped creme, it did not disappoint. The top had the perfect amount of crunch and the custard was sweet, but not too much so, and filled with fresh banana slices. We left stuffed and happy. My only disappointment was I'm here to move my daughter back home, across the country, so we won't be able to return. We've been meaning to check out this place for the longest time and finally did tonight! I cannot say enough good things - my husband and I shared 4 appetizers and 2 desserts among us and the food was more than enough. The smoked carrot hummus with warm pita chips was phenomenal and the chocolate mousse pie is to die for! We were the only people dining (it was a Monday night) but our waitress was very attentive the whole time! This place is a secret gem I wish we had discovered earlier. We are so happy to have another good restaurant in the area. Cook & Dagger has a unique menu while not alienating people looking for traditional American menu items. While I was pleased that Harissa was an ingredient on the menu and would have ordered anything with it on it I was impressed that it was used in a way that many others could enjoy it without feeling over-spiced. The menu featured a good balance of meat, fish, vegetables, fresh new and classic commonly found ingredients. They have not been open for very long and they have tweaked the menu at least once which I see as a very good thing. Our only critique would be the sort of diner-like design of the upper part of the restaurant. The bar area is warmer with updated decor. read more

Wow-zah! This was such a great place. We went tonight (Monday) so it was unexpectedly slow. We each got a cocktail, I got the billy buck I think and it was really great. I'm not a huge gin fan and I couldn't taste the gin at all but I promise it was potent. The biscuit and corn bread with butter was delicious. My boyfriend got the gumbo to start and it was delicious...fairly authentic for New England gumbo. I ordered the ramen bowl and I think I died and went to heaven. I have extra for lunch tomorrow which I am excited about. My boyfriend ordered the pork loin for his meal. It was so flavorful. He hardly ate any though because the gumbo was such a big portion. We should have split the gumbo. Altogether, 4 drink, two meals and an appetizer...they were all delicious and it wasn't that expensive. It was totally worth the money. We will be back! read more

Finally got the chance to try this place a few weeks ago, always drove by and wanted to stop in, albeit never got the chance. But I'm glad I finally did. The server was very attentive and nice. The food was also great, I got the pasta Bolognese and it was killer; (Im picky about Italian food lol). This place is Greenville's little secret gem. Located in a small plaza off a main road you can easily drive right pass it. There is ample parking located in the rear of the building. The food here is totally out of this world. The chefs here are definietly super creative. The prices and portions are equal. With tons of competition around it, it stands alone with its exotic menu that will blast your pallet out of this world. The decor is hipster meets rustic fine dining yet you can get away with wearing a ball cap and shorts. The wait staff is beyond relaxed yet make the whole dining experience worth while. Went here for the first time tonight. Sat down right away, which was cool. It was a little chilly in there, but I rather that than too warm. Our server was very nice and just attentive enough without being overpowering. I didn't drink, but there looked like plenty of good choices. We had a couple appetizers and a salad to start. All were really yummy. Then we got a burgers and fish tacos, but clearly our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. So we took some home. Food was SO salty! Listen to the other reviews! The waitress couldn't be bothered to bring more water to combat the saltiness, we had to practically chase her across the restaurant a few times. The place was near empty, I'm talking like 3-4 other tables beside us, and from what I could see two servers working. I'm sure she could've been slightly more available. Even if she was busy, a smile while she was at the table would've went a long way. I felt like we were purposefully being ignored, and as though I had done her a major inconvenience by deciding to come in and spend money this morning. She barely spoke to us, never smiled, never asked how the food was, never asked if there was anything else she could bring after delivering something to the table, just spun on her heels and was gone. It was like pulling teeth trying to get anything. At one point she slammed some plates down on the table in front of us. I'm just curious what she was so upset about? We were nothing but polite to her. If you like cream and salt this is you're spot because that's all they cook with. I won't be back, I don't recommend it. This was a wonderful experience as far as the service and the surprising atmosphere. When you walk in the door everything's minimalist and very laid-back but when the food is presented to you you are seeing five star service. The field was beautifully made an artistic to the point of food network. I gave it three stars because while the food was beautiful to look at and it was well-made it wasn't all together as wonderful as I would've expected for the prices that we paid. I definitely would recommend this restaurant for people to try it's an experience and you should miss out on you experiences. All in all I'm really happy that we went but it's not going to be on our regular list of places to venture too. read more

Wonderful causal restaurant in Greenville. Menu is American fare with very pleasant twists. Our server Owen was great and answered any questions that we had. We started with two very signature cocktail the Winter Sangria and The Grapefruit Gatsby. Both were tasty and great way to start the meal. We happened to go during restaurant week so we both went with a three course menu. My wife had the croquets which were fabulous and I had the Gumbo which was rich and spicy. My wife had the Salmon with Lentils and roasted Cauliflower and I had the Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce. Both entrees were out of this world, so good! But we finally visited tonight. we were warmly welcomed when we arrived and brought to our table immediately. The atmosphere is pleasant but not fancy. The drinks were very good. I gave this restaurant 3 stars out of 5 simply because the food was amazing. I ordered the salmon and it was the best salmon I have ever had. It does not deserve five stars because of the extremely slow service which took away from the quality of the food. I figured it's time I reviewed this places and I've eaten there many times in the last 2 years that I've lived in the area and each time has been fantastic. We have not had a bad meal there and the service is always top notch. We especially love the grilled Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, octopus and croquettes. Come to think of it the apps are always so delicious and interesting that we order mostly apps and then maybe split a main dish or sandwich. The dishes are creative and well executed and most importantly delicious. We've had take out a few times during the pandemic and it's just as good as dine -in. Looking for a place through yelp, my husband and I decided to come here for a date night tonight on a whim, neither of us had been before, and we cannot wait to come back! All of our food came out in a timely manner, nice and hot and cooked just right. We ordered the wings de jour - tequila pomegranate - amazing! We also got the poutine and did our best not to devour it! For our entrees, we got the ricotta gnocchi bolognese and the special, a Texas burger - delicious! My husband also got a pear mule for a drink which he really enjoyed. For dessert we each had our own chocolate creme brûlée, cooked to perfection of course. On top of everything else, we LOVED our waiter, Jerry! He was so warm, welcoming, and personable! Not only did he take the time to make sure our orders were just right, but he also made us feel comfortable and at home. What a great meal we had at Cook & Dagger! The meal started with their homemade corn bread which was still warm and delicious! I'm not usually a fan of corn bread due to it normally being dry, but this was little cubes of heaven with delicious flavored butter on the side. My friend and I both ordered the pan seared scallops with sun choke and asparagus. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The asparagus and sun choke were perfectly shaved on top and the aioli everything was sitting in was superb! I could have eaten 10 more scallops! Not really what to say. You get here and it doesn't look like much. You get in and the atmosphere is kind of band. You look at the menu and its upper scale so we orders not really expecting much. Then the food comes and you are like WOW !!!!. We got the croquettes which were delicious. For the entrees, i got the fried chicken sandwich It was so tender and juicy, and the best part was the fries. These were the best i have ever had. My wife orders a caesars salad with chicken. It seem pricey till it came out. Really nice presentation, it had a carved up 1/2 chicken with roasted romaine lettuce. My only reason not 5 stars is the decor, really need to be upgrade. This is the worst meal I have ever eaten in my 63 years of life. The wings were doused in salt, over cooked and greasy. I had roast 1/2 chicken with kimchi fried rice, also extremely salty. My husband had gnocchi with the saltiest bolognese sauce ever. They sunk like lead as well. The salt level on everything was so bad it turned my stomach. And to add insult to injury it was overpriced. $75 (without tip) included the appetizer, 2 entrees and 2 beers (the only edible part of the meal).
