We took out two dishes last night. I couldn't believe how disgustingly vile they were. The first, Vegetable Chicken ($14.95) was a gloppy mess. The chicken, as well as the vegetables, were coated by a gel that was indescribable. You can see the pieces being held together by the glue in one of the pictures, although the picture doesn't quite do it justice. The texture of the chicken was bizarre. There was no sauce, just that disgusting jelly. My daughter found two shrimp tails in the portion she served herself. The dish had no shrimp!!!, so this seems like a health violation. The other dish was Taiwanese Mei fun ($14.99). The chicken had the same glop as in the other dish. The pork was dried out, except for the little pieces that were pure fat. There seemed to be only 2 little shrimp in the entire container. But it was impossible to get the mess of tangled, greasy noodles out of that container. It didn't matter, because the taste was inedible, and unbearably salty despite not seeming to have any soy sauce. Both dishes went straight to the garbage, and we had no dinner. To add insult to injury, my daughter ordered online using my credit card, and there was no advance notification that they were charging $1.50 for a "convenience" charge until after paying. This smacks of fraud. I called the restaurant today, which was futile. There was no manager or owner on site, which is also a violation. Then my daughter went there, and she was told that because it was ordered online, we'd have to seek a refund from the company that handled the order. But that company isn't responsible for the inedible and disgusting food! I am so done with this place. read more

I took my daughter on a walk. I didn't tell her what type of walk. We have lived directly across from this place for years. So we walked over. As soon as you come in you see a pick up counter and a nice seating area to the left. We found a table and were greeted right away. The menu was large and expansive. We ordered the lunch specials with a side of crab Rangoon. The lunch specials came with egg drop soup and a spring roll. A lot of food for your dollars. I did have to get up several times to ask for service. It seems like the seating area is more separated from the pick up area. Lots of pickup service while we where there. The food is very good. This is the go to for Chinese unless I go to Chinatown. The soups are quite good as well as Pepper Steak. Egg rolls not bad but I can't find egg rolls like I could get in Chicago. Plenty of other good choices on the menu too. Service is quick and the lady taking orders is very nice read more

Really like what this place has to offer. When you stop by for pick up or dine in you truly get a different perspective than just delivery. There are clearly regulars who come by for a pick up and it has a Chinese food place in NY kind of vibe. It's clear that the owner care about there business here. I have always been a fan of Chinese food. One of the neat aspects about Chinese food is that it tastes just as delicious warmed up. It is being a lifelong fan of Chinese food that has been an influence on me wanting to try every local Chinese restaurant in the Las Vegas Valley. I am no stranger to Cook On Wok. Back around 2014, they had a location at Stephanie and Warm Springs in Henderson. I rated it Three Stars. Cook On Wok is located in the Albertson's-anchored shopping center at the northwest corner of Rampart and Cheyenne. Living in the southeast valley, it seems to be a world away from me. However, it is a stone throw from Lone Mountain. Prior to hiking around Lone Mountain, I stopped in here to order the peppersteak lunch special for what would be my post-hike dinner. Before stepping foot inside, I perused the menu on the window. I would have picked up a couple of New York style chicken chow mein if it was featured on a lunch special. Since it wasn't, I could stop by New York Chinese Restaurant on another day. Since I joined Yelp, the Chinese restaurant lunch special has increased dramatically. The pepper steak lunch special which had costed a little over $5 a few years previous, is now $10.78 after taxes. As far as service, I paid the woman at the counter for the food and around 10 minutes later, I picked it up from the counter. From the bench where I waited, my impression of the dining room was that it was not dingy at the same time it was not elegent or cozy. I saw yellow walls interspersed with windows that allowed in sufficient sunlight. As far as the food, in my opinion it was okay as in Three Stars. The peppersteak, fried rice, chow mein noodles, and spring roll were neither outstanding nor gross. Owing to the fact that the food was okay when there are several local Chinese restaurants that I found to be very good, at the same time it is a far drive from my residence, I am in no hurry to return to Cook On Wok. read more

The service is always ridiculously fast, even when I've ordered door dash it's never been more than a 20-30min wait from the time i order to when i get the meal in-hand. LOVE this place. I Remember Eating There With My Mom aback In 2023 Mid Spring N The Food And The Service Was Very WONDERFUL TO The Max.

Chinese food is for sure one of my occasional guilty pleasures, and while generally I just get takeout from a place near my home, I decided it was time to try somewhere different. A quick Yelp search later, and I decide to order from Cook On Wok instead, and I can say I was very pleasantly surprised. I generally just get takeout because most times it is just me, and I like to get a couple of entrees and then get a few meals with a bit more variety. However, this looks like a nice little family run business that would be good for dining in as well. The food was excellent, and I will for sure come here again and try out some other items. The orange chicken was really good, and I also got the dinner sized BBQ sliced pork which was also excellent, both had lots of flavor and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Yes - I realize those are some of the more unhealthy dishes, guilty pleasures as I said above and what I like to have first time trying somewhere new, but they have all the other standard favorites you would expect, including significantly healthier items and I look forward to trying more in the future. Portion sizes for takeout are generous too, I was able to get five good size meals out of two entrees with a side of fried rice (also good) and really that makes it decent value for money too. This is by far my favorite place for Chinese food. Being from the east coast, I was disappointed with the Chinese food here. I tried several places and didn't really care for any of them. I moved to the NW and saw their place one day and stopped in. I always get the same thing, Here they call it House Special Chicken (aka General Tso, aka Grandfathers Chicken) so I can compare one place to another and it was awesome. Just like we had on the east coast. The fried rice is good too. Chicken is a healthy portion and I always get with fried rice. It's a bargain at 8.50 as well. I also enjoy the spare ribs. You get 4 huge ribs slathered in the yummy pink sauce. My wife is in love with the salt and pepper shrimp lately and gets it every time. The cream cheese wantons are also good, as is all the soups. Take out tonight from Cook on Wok! I'm not one for Chinese too often, but I was craving a nice bowl of beef and broccoli tonight. This restaurant is local to the Desert Shores area, so we thought we'd give it a try. I really enjoyed my meal. We ordered a bunch of dishes, but I just had the beef and broccoli with white rice. It was good - nothing out of the park - but a solid 8/10. My order was ready very quickly for pick up as well. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the noodle dishes we ordered were made without noodles. I ordered 2 chicken chow meins, which I guess are just vegetables and chicken?? We called back for them to tell us the lo mein dishes are the ones with noodles. From every other Chinese restaurant I've been too, chow mein comes with noodles, so this was frustrating. We called back and had these dishes remade the correct way for us. Anyway, not a bad option for some quick Chinese. I'd like to hear others' experiences here! read more
