Cookout is the best fast food joint in Charleston. So long as they are here I won't go back to McD's, Burgerking or Sonic. I have had the Huge twice already and they always get my order right! Great place to stop in, grab some food, and go. They do no have indoor seating but there is double drive through to provide dual service. Low prices and great food. My husband and kids love the side items. They can get a burger, side of fries and a corn dog or nuggets, or whatever it is they want. The bbq is delicious. I loved the cheeseburger that I recently got at Cookout. I like mine with just ketchup and onion. In other places when I ask for that I get a few meager sections of onion and can just barely tell they are there. At Cookout I got an entire thick slice of onion - just the way I like it. Absolute worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant (fast food) chain. Visited the walk up window one night stood outside for over a half an hour before they even realized they had given our food to the drive through. Then by mistake, went back the next night through the drive through and our order was again, incorrect. Staff was neither friendly, considerate, or helpful. read more

I am from North Carolina and moved to Charleston over 2 yrs ago. I have been waiting and crossing my fingers that CookOut would bring a restaurant here and NOW FINALLY THEY HAVE! This is the best place to get good BBQ sandwich ... hamburgers are awesome...... everything is good and the best part is the cost is fair and they stay open very late! my five star Friday is a little piece of drive thru heaven! yes this is a chain hamburger joint but what they serve is amazing. here are some of my favorites: the bacon cheddar hot dog!!!!! Amazing!!!, next you have to have a side with that, yep 8 onion rings! so good! maybe you want to get a burger right? then you need to get the cookout style, comes with slaw and chili! oh dear me it is the best! if you are eating this burger in the car, get a towel! now you're going to need a drink, sure you can get a soda or iced tea but why not take it up a notch? get a coke float! so good! or if you're brave a cheerwine float! now thats a meal! also my daughter and her family love to stop here on the way home from the airport. if you haven't tried them, do it today! read more

Food is good but got some food at 1:15 am and girl tried to use credit card for pymt and the strip is not great so she asked for another form of pymt. I said you have to just type it in and she rolled her eyes and closed window and took the pymt. Then opens window and said mgmt said I can not come here with that card again because it cost them extra to type it in and not to come back. Really? Its never cost extra for any card that anyone has to type in with my experience other than two seconds of extra effort. If you wanted to charge me a quarter or a dollar extra I got money and can give a crap. But to say don't come back because you had to take an extra two seconds of your life to type in a number is a bit ridiculous. I would be happy to jump behind the counter and type it for you. Do NOT go for the food. There's always a line of cars at the drive-thru so we figured it must be pretty good...it's not. The service was fast, but the food was pretty awful. The chicken sandwich was rubbery and one order of onion rings had 4 very small rings. It's cheap, but you can get more and better for the same price at any of the nearby fast-food places. I can only assume the line of cars are there for the milkshakes--it certainly isn't for the food! read more

Really enjoyed the food at this place, it's excellent fast food, but the staff is so rude that I won't be enjoying there food. If you try to make any changes to the way it's written on the menu these people freak out. They have a now hiring sign out front hopefully they are replacing everyone. read more

I have to click on a star? Horrible customer service. we have visited the drive thru over 15 times. 10 of those times one or two items were not added to the bag, forgot a drink, didnt say hello, or thank you. Miscounted change, and over paid me by $20.00. I counted the change, and told them that they made a mistake.. and they said "no we dont make mistakes!" I said , okay then.. when you are short $20.00 and in trouble with your manager, remember you told me that you never make a mistake. So here I am trying to give there $20.00 back, and the cashier tells me that I have an attitude and need to keep going so they can help other customers. Honestly my family and I love the food there, so that is why I didnt just drive off. I pulled up, and noticed that an order of nuggets was missing, the sauce we requested wasnt there, and they forgot our napkins. So I sent my husband in to handle the situation since I was elevated with anger. He spoke with management, and told them about the $20, showed the bag with food, and receipt. They never once said an apology for their employees actions, and then complained that they would have to do a drawer count. So my husband left with the corrected order and an extra $20.00. Now, we are not complaining about the extra cash but this is not how a business is supposed to be ran. We are both General Managers, own our own business, and my husband has his MBA. I hope the their owner will see the review and make some changes, for the future of the store. Great food, Amazing prices, but Horrible work ethic, Management, and Customer service. read more
