This review is based on the milkshakes and sweet tea. Food at Cookouts are often greasy fast foot you can get anywhere. One does not go to Cookout for the food. No, no. One goes to Cookout for the FORTY DIFFERENT TYPES OF MILKSHAKES THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Having been introduced to Cookout while living in Raleigh when Cookout was still "an NC thing," I'm soooo pleased they've expanded into VA and SC. My favorite flavors: Peanut butter fudge strawberry cheesecake If you're a fan of runny milkshakes, Cookout shakes aren't your friend. You will probably need a spoon to start enjoying your milkshake when you first get it, unless you have super sucking skills (pun intended). Also, Cookout is open ridiculously late (on weekends). I frequent cookouts in the usc area all of the time. I thought all of them were just fabulous places to dine at. But behold, this place on savannah highway is comprised of people who can't take simple instructions and probably would lose their heads if they weren't attached to their bodies. If I didn't see that humans operated this facility and only looked at the results they produced. I would probably speculate that this business was operated by a pack of blind dogs and maybe a horse. We had three orders and they forgot to give us a sweet tea, the food itself looked like Stevie wonder put it together himself, and they put coleslaw on my bbq sandwich when I specifically told them to not do that. I yearn for success But my food says other My heart hurts so much You're only as strong as the weakest link and I guarantee their weakest link probably didn't even show up to work. I'm leaving this review only because of the outstanding service my girlfriend and I received by Courtney. She was working the walk up window during the late night shift on May 1st. This is one of the only places to get food late night in this area so after about 1am the place is usually packed. I was extremely impressed with Courtney's interpersonal communications skills and how well she handled the stress of being so busy, while making everyone that walked up feel like they were being taken cared for to their best ability. Regardless of how long people had to wait and how inebriated some people may have been at this time she was able to connect with every guest in a personal and professional manner that people did wait for over 30 mins for a fast food chicken sandwich. No offense to Cookouts' food but they did not wait because Cookout has incredible tasting food. They waited because of the service that Courtney provided and the fun atmosphere she was able to create. This was my first time at a cook out and this review may be a little unfair. So I went at 11pm on a Friday and the place was packed, the drive through wait was probably about ten minutes but that's okay cause I had no where to be. I ordered a Cheddar Cheese burgeronion rings with the cook out sauce, cookout rounds(?) and a snickers milk shake. The milkshake was thick AF and took some melting before I could drink it but was excellent, the Onion rings were great despite the fact they forgot my cook out sauce, the cookout rounds I assume were good cause my mother ate them all without compliant. The cheeseburger is where my disappointment came, when i opened it, the burger was on one side of the bun, while all the cheese and onions were on the other side, the bacon fell off immediately (bacon was delicious though), the burger in the other hand was burnt and gross a total bummer for my late night meal. I definitely go back because I always hear great things but next time I'll go when it's not so terribly busy. read more

this specific cookout is THE WORST cookout i've ever been to . north charleston and mount pleasant location i have never had issues , but the west ashley location is always so slow . just got done sitting in line for 45 MINUTES !! got two simple cookout trays quesadillas and double cajun fries for sides . got out of line and was able to check our food cause the line behind us was crazy , and they only gave one tray fries their food isn't even worth that wait in the first place and the fact that we sat there at the window for 10 minutes waiting for our food , you'd expect things to be correct . didn't even try and go back cause it's take another 15 min just to get the fries we paid for . also , they didn't close their dumpster doors so got to watch a man pee in there and the door swung open and hit my bfs truck . just worst experience i've ever had with them . read more

I usually go here with no problems, but today I went and sat at the speaker for about 15 minutes in my car, asking to order with NO response. So eventually I go to the drive thru window assuming something is wrong with the speaker and they refuse to open it or acknowledge me, but start talking to the person behind me on the speaker! So with no opportunity to order, I park and go to the window and there are no workers wearing masks correctly or at all. read more

A lot of people kept talking about it, so I had to give it a shot. With so many people recommending it, I guess I had high expectations. It's just fast food - nothing more, nothing less. Some interesting options, like corndogs as a side, but overall - it's fast food and it tastes like it. There's one thing that's pretty impressive though and that's the price. This place is an excellent value for the quantity of food you receive. Get a burger with a corndog side and a soda for $5 and you'll be stuffed to the gills. I'll go back someday when I have a corndog craving, because the corndog was the best part of the meal. And they're open until something like 4am - crazy! read more

The food has that warmed up feel to it, but it's generally tasty and it's really hard to beat the price of a Cookout Tray. The service was really bad. If you're going to be a late restaurant then be a late restaurant that have people that act like they want to be there. If anything, pay those people more to do the late night job. Because waiting an hour for a meal is not worth it and makes everyone hate this place even more. We had heard about place from a billboard and decided to eat here for dinner. It was OK. The hush puppies were good and so was the BBQ sandwich but the burger was very limpy. When I unwrapped it all I saw was a bun. It could have been good but it did not fill me up and I ended up eating at taco bell next door. Also the shake was so thick you had to use a spoon to eat it. Normally I would never take the time to write a review about a fast food restaurant because, let's face it, you can't expect perfection from these kinds of places. BUT, today I had a particularly bad experience at this location that I'd like to share. After being screamed at through the drive thru microphone (they really need new ones) I waited in line almost 20 minutes for my food. Once I got to the window I waited even longer while a girl who barely spoke English tried to place other orders behind me. The manager next to her was visibly flustered and kept having to correct her. As soon as she handed me my drink, I knew my order had gone wrong already. I was handed a coke instead of a water. I told her about the mistake and was then handed my order. The corn dog didn't come with ketchup and mustard as advertised. The "crispy" chicken inside my wrap was so crispy it was almost inedible. It also didn't have any ranch on it as advertised. The chili was fine but super dense and kind of seemed like it was out of a can. I paid $4.33 for very good, good tasting, good portions, solid WHOLE MEAL. It was something different than I normally buy (Mc......., who I have no problem with.)
