Onion rings minus a few already eaten. No sauce provided with them.

Eager to try this fast food joint based on the name. It's not a chain in our area yet and when we drive by it, we knew we had to stop. We were expecting something like "Backyard Burgers" fresh-like burgers and crush squeezed lemonade. It's more like a Burger King meets Sonic's. I ordered a hot dog. I expected it to be big and juicy like Costco's. It was not. It had grill makes, but no grilled "flavor" and was definitely on the thin side. The onions were average. The highlight was the multiple choices of unique shake flavors. The peanut butter/banana was spot on. The cost was "normal" though a bit high for the small dog. Next time, I'd try the burger.

Cookout is an awesome place to go sit and eat or get it to go. Tons of options on sides and main courses. I usually get two chicken quesadillas and two sides of Cajun fries with barbecue sauce and a caramel fudge milkshake under $10!

Walking taco and chili cheese burger

This is a difficult establishment to review. I am torn because when receiving my food i was immediately concerned about needing to support the healthcare costs of regular customers, but then I realized the need to balance that with fact that they wjll not live long enough to collect social security. This place is dirt cheap and my chili cheese burger is very good as are the Cajun fries. Would eat again. I ordered the walking taco as my 2nd side. I was oblivious that this is aTex Mex taco ingredients thrown into a bag of Doritos. Ground beef and lettuce are not legitimate taco ingredients but I never anticipated an authentic taco, so I cannot allow this to impact my score. I'm not going to eat this (I am staring at it as I write). The meat is of poor quality and it's disgusting. That said -- for someone who craves low quality taco ingredients in a bag of Doritos at bottom of the barrel pricing it is probably hits the spot. I give 5 stars because their food effectively accomplishes what they set out to do. For the long term sustainability of CookOut Inc. may their clients not use protection and reproduce, because they are here for a good time -- not a long time.

The workers here are rude and liars!!! I seat here watching 20 people after my order get theirs before I walk back up front and asked where was my order? After waiting another 10 minutes my order came out. Where did customer service go?

A plain hot dog for my dog #yum #ReviewsByRL

Found this place via a Yelp search for where to eat while on a #roadtrip . Almost missed it, kind of up on a hill but right off 127. Went in so I could spend time looking at the menu since I'm unfamiliar. Burgers and hot dogs and shakes. Reasonable prices. Downside is the cashier didn't seem very friendly as I was trying to decide. Normally I'd ask what they recommend but she just didn't seem to want to engage. I got the cheddar burger (bacon and grilled onions), onion rings, and a plain hot dog (for my dog). It was all still hot when I got to my nearby hotel. The cook out sauce on the onion rings is good ... kind of like a spicy thousand island without the relish. The burger was a decent thickness and had good bacon and grilled onions on it. I was I tempted by the milkshake list but didn't get one. Good thing, cuz I was stuffed. I drove by again later in the evening but the drove through line was so long I didn't ... clearly a popular choice#yum #ReviewsByRL

Never a bad experience yet-I can not understand their consistency in providing great food! Had my primary fav-BBQ again today in Frankfort Ky!

Nothing fancy! "Don't let a book get judged by its cover" this place is so good! My husband first tried it in Lexington and on our way home (California) we stopped by in Frankfort. It's a must try! I had a tray with the cheddar style burger, onion rings and a corn dog; it was all good! Another plus is the crunchy ice they offer with their drinks. Staff was very friendly as well! And! It was very fast service.

We ran through the drive though here today on our way out of town. The line was super long, but it moved really fast surprisingly. Ordering was complicated so I definitely suggest you look at a menu before ordering to speed up the process if you're a first timer. Our food came out super fast. It was all correct and fresh. My burger was delicious. We all really enjoyed the hush puppies as well. My favorite thing about this place is that it was super cheap. We fed three adults and two kids a TON of food with $30. Can't beat that for fresh made food! We'll definitely be back.

The food is good and price isn't bad. Milkshakes are awesome, super thick. Many flavors to choose from.

The floors are bare, polished concrete which has seen 100 years or more of changes and scarring. The seating is very basic. Everything is kept up well and clean. Despite this the place was packed! We were actually surprised as the stores were all closed and there wasn't much going on in town at that time. It was a good menu for a barbecue joint. We both ordered the chicken and ribs. Before I get into the food, I just want to add that the timing was good all around. We were sat immediately. Our waitress took our order and was very attentive. And even the food came out in a timely fashion. Now on to the food. We both enjoyed the chicken and everything else that was on our plates. For me what made my night was the ribs. I'm not a person who likes a sweet sauce on their ribs. For my taste, these were the best ribs that I have had in a very, very long time. The sauce made the ribs for me. We were both well satisfied with our meals. In short, it's nothing fancy. But the food is delicious and they do what they do well. I would definitely return if I was in the area again. And yes, I would recommend giving them a try.

The dining room is set up to accommodate parties of two or four, all the way to large groups, with places for individuals at the bar. Table service is provided and our server was friendly. Hubby chose the Hot Brown with a side salad and I went for the liver and onions with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and gravy on the side for the livers. Hubby tries the Hot Brown at a lot of restaurants and said it was good. The liver was tender and tasty with the onions and gravy on the side, and the mashed potatoes and green beans were a good accompaniment. The portions were satisfying and neither of us had room for dessert. We were pleased with the experience, and with more items on the menu to try, we will be back.

We tried the chili dogs and fries, the fish sandwich special (which came with fries and slaw), and the chicken tenders appetizer. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Bonus points for the fun UK basketball décor -- fans of the Cats will feel right at home. If you're in the mood for traditional fried food done well in a laid-back setting with excellent service, this place is absolutely worth a visit. We visit often!
