Just strolled into cape cod trying to find somewhere to eat. We came across Cooke's Seafood and right when we walked in the owner was just a bundle of joy! The ambiance was very clean and was in current style. All the fish we got tasted super fresh and the owner gave us some of their famous fried clams for free as a welcome to cape cod, which were delicious! The recommended restaurants in Orleans were not open for lunch, so we wound up here. It's kind of a fast food seafood kind of place. You order the counter, take a number, have a seat, and they bring your food to you. We were both craving clam chowder, it was kind of a disappointment. there just weren't many clams. Mid afternoon stop for lunch, it was almost deserted. Ordered a cup of clam chowder, New England style, and a small order of fried shrimp. It was served up very fast and hot. The clam chowder was thick enough to stand a spoon up in, it had great flavor, plenty of potato and clams in it. However the saltines served with it were sadly stale. The shrimp batter was light and nicely fried, with great taste. The cocktail sauce was a little weak, hardly any zippy taste. A good place to stop for food. read more

We've driven by this place for so many years and finally after having one too many lousy meals at the Yardarm, we decided to give it a go... And boy was it pleasantly surprising! My husband had the fish tacos which he had been salivating for since we arrived on the Cape and this place did not disappoint! He said the chowder was pretty good, nothing amazing, but he didn't go for the chowder. He said the fish was so light and tasty, he's such a fish snob so that is high praise from him. I had the charbroiled burger, it was really good, I love a char! The owner came out to each table, made sure everyone was happy, he was a very friendly chap! Perfect lobster roll stop. We were out driving on a rainy Cape Cod Monday, and followed the recommendations to Cooke's. The lobster roll was big chunks of lobster, lightly dressed, atop a toasted lobster roll roll (I won't call it a hot dog bun because it's not). Yum yum yum. Stopped in because Arnold's closed very early for the season! Truly disappointed in the food for the price. $43 for fried shrimp, grilled shrimp and onion rings appetizer. All food came out together which is ALWAYS WRONG. Appetizers come out first, not with the food. We specifically asked for it to come out before our meal. Hubby said his grilled shrimp and rice were ok, but those are the smallest shrimp (like popcorn shrimp). Fried shrimp were also really small and for the price, definitely not worth it. The menu is a little bit overwhelming as you order at the counter, but when we were there, it was not crowded, so we could take our time. The portions were huge, and the food was very tasty. I won't normally rate what is counter order, seat yourself roadside place a 5 star. Here is the exception. Someone rated this as the number 1 fried clams on the Cape. I vote for close if not the best whole bellied fried clams in New England. Fresh tasting , crisp not to thick coating all nicely fried without over or under cooking the clam. The French fries ranked right up there as well. Crunchy potato goodness . No sign of fish taste in the oil. My wife had the fish taco. One is plenty for smaller appetites . Slight larger pieces again of nicely fried fish pieces, pico de Gallo and some lettuce. Would have been perfect it were served on a corn rather than flour tortilla. The flour does it make it a little easier to eat though. All of this was served hot and I got through my clam roll before it got cold Even the coleslaw was a step above. A nice small selection of drafts and bottles beers including some locals. Wines limited to the generic Barefoot suspects . Nice staff as well. And it is clean. Inside and outside seating. read more

The lobster rolls were nothing special but were ok. My wife felt the same way about her lobster tacos but was then unpleasantly surprised by finding a jalapeño in the lobster taco since she doesn't care for spicy food. I went here one weekday afternoon with my parents and in-laws and everyone was quite pleased with their food. I got a fish taco with a side of onion rings. The taco came with lots of fresh tasting pico de gallo and the fish tasted fresh and the batter was well seasoned. My only complaint with the taco is the size of the fish. I got one small chicken nugget-sized piece and one piece of fish that was slightly bigger. I definitely think the piece(s) could be bigger but maybe I just got unlucky. The onion rings were "shoestring" style, so they were thin and crispy. While they were very oily, the batter held up and the onions were sweet and the batter was tasty. Other folks in my group enjoyed their scallops, clams and french fries. The consensus from the group was that the prices were worth the flavor and freshness of the food, even if a little overpriced, but what isn't overpriced down the Cape? For comparison, we went to Mac's On The Pier two days before and everyone thought Cooke's was much, much better overall. read more

Great fish sandwich that beats the competitors prices by far! It was a generous portion of fish on a sesame seed topped hoagie roll. The tartare sauce was great... had just the right amount of salt and vinegar to it. In general their batter is low salt, better than the opposite! This is also true of the onion rings which are flaky and remind me of the rings you could get at Liams at Nauset Beach (which I considered the best on the cape). These are a little thicker an so you get good juicy onions that are hot and perfectly fried... add salt to taste! You can choose to eat in - the staff are all Masked and are cleaning and distancing. Not sure if its price gouging due to Covid or their prices are typically that high but my friends and I visited Cookes looking for a sit-down dinner spot (which it wasnt) so we decided to do some apps, a beer, rhen head to a restaurant. We ordered 3 beers and a LG Calamari.....it was 50$ Then the Calamari came out, not super large which I guess I was expecting for 22$, and it wasn't served with any sauce.
