    Kids Mac and Cheese

Skipper Chowder House was crazy busy. Dinner wait was around 2 hours. One evening we decided to bite the bullet and wait. Once seated, the service was really good. The kids mac and cheese was house made and much better than the usual boxed stuff. The Cape Cod Clam Chowdah was excellent and absolutely worth ordering. It was even better than the chowders I had in Rhode Island. The Baked Chatham Scrod was just okay. The fish was a little slimier than I expected, the cracker crumb topping didn't really add anything, and the mashed potatoes and veggies were plain and underseasoned. My Cajun swordfish was amazing. It had a ton of flavor with a nice char grilled taste that worked really well. Unfortunately the sides were the same as above and underwhelming. We got a rice with butter and this was okay as well. For dessert, my son got the Nantucket Ferry, a chocolate truffle sundae. It looked good but probably wasn't worth the price. Overall, I actually had better versions of a lot of these dishes at Captain Parker's Pub, and with a much shorter wait too. I also liked CPP's menu a little more. I think a lot of Skipper's popularity comes from the location by the beach. If you get one of the tables with an ocean view, I can totally see the appeal. Otherwise, it's just a regular restaurant with nothing really to write home about. If you want the award winning clam chowdah, it's absolutely worth coming here. Same if you're craving swordfish since I didn't see that on CPP's menu. Otherwise, I'd probably recommend that place more just cuz of the wait times.

CAPE COD CLAM CHOWDAH - sooooooo creamy and delicious, worth the wait! (July, 2026)

No reservations taken. Expect a very long wait on summer weekends. When finally seated, not rushed wonderful service. Massive menu. Freshly made are their nice seafood dishes. Yet, the reason I come back time and time again is for their thick and creamy, full of clams "Cape Cod Clam Chowdah"! There's seating inside and at their rooftop. Preferring the open air rooftop, I've learned to always bring a shawl or light sweater, for its cool and breezy here when the sun sets! CHEERS!

Great chowder! Came on a Saturday night. They do not takes reservations. Enjoyed a beach stroll and a ride to Smugglers Beach during the hour and 15 minute wait for our table. We sat on the outside deck. Food and service spot on, worth the wait.

We love Skipper Chowder House! Their clam chowder is possibly the best I've ever had. The lobster rolls are super fresh and tasty. Their clam strips are perfect and the fries are crisp and delish. Also their Bloody Mary is better than I can make, and that says a lot. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is a great place to go for lunch. Be sure to sit outside on the patio.

Lives up to the hype. Incredibly fresh and delicious seafood in that summer beach setting. The clam chowder is so creamy and well seasoned. The lobster roll is full of chunky lobster with a great light mayo. The clam strips are surprisingly good too. They have a nice sweet batter that is addicting. If there is a line just put your name down and go hang out at the beach across the street.

Great find for dinner on Cape Cod, MA. Service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was busy for a Sunday night, but was casual dining. Most of our food was really good. I did find the coleslaw lacking flavor. I did try the Quahog. Very tasty, but the mushy texture inside surprised me. I was expecting a hush puppy texture. But this wasn't enough not to give them 5 stars. The clam chowder was really good also. The map directed us the back way, a little off putting, but after a few turns this wonderful restaurant appeared. It's very popular.

Out of respect for the clam chowder, I'll give it 3 stars. Front host stand was not nice, and our service was less than spectacular. Baked Scrod was subpar. Clam chowder was very good which makes total sense. Definitely have to get here early if you want a seat quick. By 5pm line is backing up outside. Sat inside, nice seating with ocean view but flys were everywhere. Not sure if we went on an off day, but it left little to be desired.

This might've been my favorite meal of our trip last summer! There was a bit of a wait, so we went to the beach across the street and walked while we waited. It was definitely packed inside during the peak dinner time, full of families on vacation to local couples. I'm so glad we were patient because the food was so good! The staff was really nice.. from the hostess to the waitress to the random staff member who held the door open for us on the way out. We were here almost 8 months ago and I am still thinking about the food we had! Portion sizes were huge, so definitely bring an appetite.

Driven by this place for years and finally decided to try it out. Got there at 2:30 and the place was quite crowded but were seated immediately. The menu is large with a lot of seafood choices on it. We started out with their award winning clam chowder which was probably the best I've had. It was thick and creamy and piping hot. My wife and I split the fisherman's platter which was more than enough food as we still had leftovers. The fried whole belly clams were delicious and the scallops huge as nd sweet and fried to perfection. The fried shrimp were enormous and I had to cut them in 3 pieces to eat just one.

This is probably the best restaurant in Cape Cod, not even joking. So what if it's touristy, if you can get in (wait can be up two hours long in the summer months) it's absolutely WORTH IT. Their homemade clam chowder has a unique, almost spicy/peppery flavor that makes it stand out. The fried clam chowder cakes are great to dip in it! Since I was pregnant and craving Mac and cheese, I got the lobster Mac and cheese and it was PHENOMENAL. My first experience with lobster Mac and cheese at a different restaurant left me disappointed and sick so I was nervous to give it another shot, and I was blown away by how good it was. And of course we had to treat ourselves with the homemade ice cream...the Nantucket ferry sundae had my name written all over it, and it was a cookie lovers dream!! So good.

10/10 Best chowder I have ever had in my life Supreme lobster roll was huge ! Great service Even better location

Dropped by for lunch on the enclosed (and heated) top deck, and lunch was so good the rest of our party insisted we go back for dinner! Pictured are my calamari roll and fried clam chowder from lunch. The roll was so delicious I ordered it again at dinner, and the house made kettle chips were the first time I've liked a kettle chip. They even had a gluten free roll so my best friend could eat her first ever lobster roll. Staff was very friendly and accommodating--my mom needs to be gluten free, and not only did the staff work to get her a meal that made her happy, it was clearly labeled in our takeout order. Cannot recommend highly enough.

A cold, cloudy weekday early evening, and still a full house! Quick service. Clam chowder so thick you can eat it with a fork. Overstuffed fresh lobster rolls. A view of the water from the upstairs deck. We will be back- maybe even tomorrow!

While trying things on the menu I was happy to pick the shrimp tacos. They were perfectly cooked with pico, cotija cheese, and siracha aioli. The crust on the batter was flaky and light. Not a heavy batter and it didn't overpower the flavor of the shrimp. The shrimp tacos are not gluten free and they have a minimal amount of gluten-free options available. Most of their sandwiches have a gluten-free roll available for an extra two dollars. If you have a severe gluten allergy/ celiac disease, I probably would not risk most of the menu items. Thankfully, we were also able to order a rice bowl with plain swordfish and had no allergy related side effects afterwards. The kids menu is also great for options for littles while dining here. The view is nice, crowded if you're seated outdoors but the staff is awesome which makes it feel more like you're going to a friends house to eat. I'd come here again for drinks on the patio as their drink menu looked so good. A great stop for an outdoor lunch or quick stop with friends.

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

This is a really appealing, intimate, mom and pop (and summer help waitress) place. The hostess/ front of house boss, who was operating from the bar of this 10-12 table location, was gracious and endearing (in the way that an almost overbearing host can be- that meant as a compliment). The drinks took a minute, my fiancé's salad needed blue cheese brought out as it was left off (single most off-putting thing: the waitress, I suspect language mastery being the cause of this rather than malice or willful deceit, flat out told her that blue cheese did not come with the wedge salad...but when boss lady at the bar was asked, this was quickly corrected), there was a heavy does of reggae music. All of this less than optimal. The food was very good, though I can't remember off the top of my head what I had (it's been a month). Nor did I take pics: it seemed like it'd detract from the experience. There weren't any complaints about the food from others. (So I went back and looked at the menu: potstickers as an app- pretty good; baked local seafood as the main- good, but it is what it is in that not a ton of nuance added so as to let the seafood do the talking. The portion was decent for the price. I didn't leave stuffed, but for $38, very reasonable.) All in all, the first visit merits a second visit next year (as the website says they are temporarily closed to seek new management).
