    Fish fry platter. So good!
    Ms. G.

We arrived off season on May 19, and it was in the middle of the afternoon around 2:00. I have to say it was so very good. The wait staff were so polite and welcoming. We had the clam chowder. It's a creamy clam chowder, which husband does not enjoy. However, it was tasty. I do like a creamy clam chowder and this was heavy. Delicious but heavy. I'm glad I ordered only a cup. We split the seafood fish platter. It was plenty for the two of us. I think it would have been good for 3 people. You could tell everything was fresh. It was amazing! Even the oils they fried it all in was fresh. This is a great place to stop. Again, off season, I'm sure is a different animal than the busy season. Being on the water made me give it the 5th star. This is my new favorite on the Cape.

    Lobster Ravioli and Quahog
    Celina G.

For the quahog-curious, the menu says "try it!" so I did. Served up on a shell, the Stuffed Quahog is a brown mass of things mixed together, namely quahog, bread crumbs, sausage, bell peppers, and spices. I enjoyed the flavor, which I can't quite describe. Like the menu says, "try it!" We also ordered the Lobster Ravioli, which was fantastic, as well as the clam chowder. I actually had a partial cup of chowder earlier that day, but I still had room for a little more. Skipper's chowder was thicker and had plenty of chunks of clam. I wish we had room for ice cream! Past the summer season, the Skipper was one of the only restaurants open in the area. It was already much cooler mid-October and they had their upstairs patio covered. After a 20 minute walk in the dark for dinner, I think it was worth it! Very kind service and comfortable atmosphere. I had serious thoughts about leaving with some Skipper merchandise.

    Fisherman's Platter

A great restaurant next to the beach with beautiful views from the deck. There's plenty of parking with an attached ice cream stall. The staff were great and pulled down the shades when it got pretty hot in the sun. The local beer brewed for the restaurant is refreshing and perfect on a nice day. The clam chowder is creamy with great flavor and a good amount of clams. The fisherman's platter is cooked to perfection, for the price I do think the portion of seafood is light but comparable to local restaurants. The tatar sauce tasted homemade and complimented the seafood well.

    Summer salad

You need to have the entire party to get seated, and there is an upstairs and downstairs seating area. For the 6 of us, we got the clambake (for 4), summer salad, and lobster mac and cheese. It was a lot of food and we had tons of leftovers. The clambake had potatoes, delicious corn, linguica (some liked this the most), lobster of course (one even had roe, but was cooked too hard), steamers (first time eating these - you have to wash them in broth first), and Mussels. It also came with 4 cups of clam chowder that was delicious. The mac and cheese was good, and we ended up putting the remaining lobster meat in there. The summer salad was the type of salad I needed - fresh vegetables and some fruit sweetness. The bloody Mary is custom to order, and was strong in liquor. Tasty though with unique toppings like pickled asparagus.

We chose Skippers because they had great reviews. Definitely didnt let us down. As always, wife got the burger which she said was definitely a hit. I got the steamer pot which had a full lobster, steamer clams, muscles, potatoes, corn, sausage and hot butter - served with a bib! For non-locals - if you are NOT familiar with steamers, check them out first! I have personally on every had "little neck clams" - never knew with they were called that until I got steamers in New England. The necks definitely freaked me out a little bit Buttt the pot was still delish. Waiter offered to help with cracking the lobster but I was in it! Sausage was a little overcooked and lobster claw meat was rubbery but the tail was great! All in all, id go back but probably get something else. The pot was actually reasonably priced considering the full lobster and all the other goodies.

    Tuna Wonton nachos

We came by for a late lunch. We sat out on the upper deck. It was nice and comfortable with a freeze. We tried their sangria and it wasn't the greatest but it was ok. I liked it had fresh fruits. We also tried one of their local draft beers. I have to hand it to them. The best tuna nachos ever!! You get a very large portion and lots of fresh perfectly cut tuna with perfect flavor. The wasabi dressing was the best and specially with avocado and seaweed salad. We also ordered the boiled lobster pot. It was enough for both of us since the tuna nachos was so much. I loved the food and Melissa the waiter was very nice.

We ended up going to Skippers for lunch, which was great because it wasn't super busy (we heard wait times for dinner can surpass 2 hours). Chowder was absolutely delicious - thick, creamy and full of clams. All our entrees came out hot and portions were generous. Our server, Jess, was a 10 - she made the whole experience that much better. She was personable, helpful and on top of refills. This is one of our new go to places for lunch on the cape and looking forward to coming back!

Service was great, server was very knowledgeable about the menu and which contained dairy. We had a person in our party with a dairy allergy and a knowledgeable staff makes all the difference in the world. Fish and chips were delicious and haddock was super fresh. Lobster roll was also super fresh and tasty! View from our table was great as well!

    Jumbo Shrimp
    Sydni S.

Came into Skipper's right before closing at the end of the season and I had the best meal of my trip! I had never tried a lobster roll before so the meet in the middle roll with garlic aioli and butter was DELICIOUS. I split that and the jumbo shrimp which was also amazing. The biggest shrimp I've ever seen and they were cooked perfectly. They had a great snap and the cocktail sauce was a must. The food also came out insanely fast, and the restaurant was pretty packed. We sat on the upper level and we were under a heater so it was nice and warm as well. Perfect for a fall day!

    Fried clam chowdah

Charming spot near the water if the weather allows you to see it! Food was decent and the server was very friendly! The chowder was in fact delicious and the garlic aoli on the lobster roll took things up a notch. There are lots of great lobster rolls on the cape and this one does the trick! We ordered the swordfish and it didn't have much flavor so I'd stick to the classics with this spot. Better than anything we ate however was the ice cream from the shack right out front.

The portions were very generous and we both left full with food to spare. We started with the onion rings, which came out as a big basket super crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. My hot lobster roll was loaded with tender lobster and perfectly buttery, and the sweet potato wedge fries were a great match. The clam chowder was thick, flavorful, and packed with clams, absolutely living up to their reputation. My son really enjoyed his fish and chips from the kids' menu -- crunchy on the outside, moist inside, and plenty of fries. Service was excellent from start to finish. The ambiance was casual and lively but not too loud, with a classic pub feel that still felt very family-friendly. The restaurant is quite large with a spacious dining area, so even when it was busy we didn't feel crowded. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time, keeping drinks topped off. Overall, a great, family-friendly spot with delicious Cape Cod seafood and more than enough food for the price. We'll definitely be back if we're ever in town again.

My first glass of vinho verde wine was served at room temperature (the second was fine), and the side plate I was given was crusted with dried food residue. I also watched an employee behind the bar wipe her nose with her hand and then continue slicing citrus barehanded. The chicken empanadas were good but not particularly special. We also had one of the small pizzas, which was the best thing of the night, crispy and flavorful (with a little char at the edges, which we like). The decor is a little bananas (different shades of green between the walls, the napkins, the barstools, and the banquettes; five kinds of lighting fixtures; lots of sound and lighting items with exposed, hasty-looking wiring). The bathroom door doesn't really close and lock properly. And the restaurant is really loud, even half full. The writing on the menu, about family members and special recipes, tells me that there's pride here and real care about making a good restaurant. However, without the attention to detail (particularly cleanliness and hygiene!), that's kind of moot. Three stars instead of two here because the pizza was good and the staff obviously care about customers.

The dining room was more spacious than it appears to be from the outside. Piped in music leaned heavily toward the '70s. We had reservations for a table for 4 for Monday 4 pm when it opened and the place slowly filled up. Our waitress, Sam, was very animated, attentive, and personable. She explained she was training a new waitstaff member and also that the chef had been busy all day setting up another proximate location. We placed our drink and oyster orders first. Then shortly followed with our entree orders. Two members of our party had food allergies and were very specific about what they could not eat. Sam checked menu items with the kitchen to verify what accommodations could be made. The cocktails were delicious and well made, and we were offered fresh hot rolls with butter and a light whipped hummus. The oysters arrived and were small, but ultra-fresh, sweet and briny. Then we waited...and waited. When our entrees finally arrived, they revealed either some of the kitchen staff also was new and/or the head chef/owner was distracted with setting up the second location. The Cioppino was very good, with plenty of seafood and a lobster tail, as was the house seared scallops with asparagus and lobster risotto. The blackened scallop special was very spicy (as warned) but arrived layered on corn, which we emphatically had said must be avoided. Sam apologized and took that away and replaced it with another vegetable. Then the beer-battered fish and chips arrived with sweet potato fries, when the parmesan-seasoned fries had been ordered. We know in both cases Sam had correctly repeated our orders to us before placing with the kitchen, so it was not her fault. However, she again apologized and brought back the correct type of fries. Sadly, they were pale and limp, contrasted with overbrowned, oily/doughy portions of fish. The accompanying coleslaw was not crisp and was barely seasoned, tasting thinly of mayonnaise. The member of our party who had ordered the fish and chips dinner literally took a taste of each item and pushed the plate away as not good. I also tasted each item and agreed. To the restaurant's credit, Sam spoke with her boss and that entree was removed from the bill. It seems the oysters and specialty seafoods are the highlight here, but more simple fish shack foods are better served elsewhere. Also, better attention needs to be paid to orders by the kitchen. If I return to this area, I would consider returning for the daily oyster specials and drinks, the cioppino, and possibly trying out the creative-sounding desserts, but might want to try other restaurants for a full dinner experience with friends.

This is a really appealing, intimate, mom and pop (and summer help waitress) place. The hostess/ front of house boss, who was operating from the bar of this 10-12 table location, was gracious and endearing (in the way that an almost overbearing host can be- that meant as a compliment). The drinks took a minute, my fiancé's salad needed blue cheese brought out as it was left off (single most off-putting thing: the waitress, I suspect language mastery being the cause of this rather than malice or willful deceit, flat out told her that blue cheese did not come with the wedge salad...but when boss lady at the bar was asked, this was quickly corrected), there was a heavy does of reggae music. All of this less than optimal. The food was very good, though I can't remember off the top of my head what I had (it's been a month). Nor did I take pics: it seemed like it'd detract from the experience. There weren't any complaints about the food from others. (So I went back and looked at the menu: potstickers as an app- pretty good; baked local seafood as the main- good, but it is what it is in that not a ton of nuance added so as to let the seafood do the talking. The portion was decent for the price. I didn't leave stuffed, but for $38, very reasonable.) All in all, the first visit merits a second visit next year (as the website says they are temporarily closed to seek new management).

Secondly, we got a 3 @ 66 deal for an app, a main, and a dessert. So we obviously made it a 6 @ 122 to try everything we possibly could. Apparently that deal is only at the beginning and end of season. The Ocean House has a unique Asian-inspired twist to make each dish unique and intriguing. This goes for both food and drinks.
