First timer here and pretty pleased with the food. Like most of everyone post these days it's all about the covid19 pandemic. All of the restaurants in the area had the same situation going on. Some, you could only order online and pick up while this place allowed you to order on the spot. They had the tape marked on the ground for the safe distancing. Some people seemed to not care as they had huge group with them while others did follow the guideline. Once you get to the front window to place your order, the waiter takes the order. They're in protective gear, mask and gloves. You order and to the opposite side of the line, there's another window for pick up. Also, there's tape on the ground marking off pick up. Which only your order is called are you allowed to enter the tapes area. There's also tape on the pickup side for safe distancing as well. Just like everywhere you go, there's going to be people who follow the rules and people who don't. Took about 15 min for our order to be ready. Overall, food was good. Their setup with the safe distancing was good. The only thing was they didn't put any silverware with our order. And asked so sauce, and two packets of ketchup was given for our fries and onion Rings. Beside that, enjoyed our meal. read more

We were seated right away. Busy but not busy. Our server was so sweet. We were at a table and he offered us a booth. Great customer service. Food came fast and again our server went above and beyond and split our salad. We will definitely be back. Great all service, salad and ribs. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Cool Cat Cafe. It was a busy Sunday, around dinner time, when my kids and I stopped by. Regardless of the fact that it was a weekend and rush hour, we were seated right away. The staff were friendly, informative & fun! I really wish I remembered the name of our waiter, he was training a new staff member, but he was really cool about everything & made our experience great. I loved how excited he was about their food & how he provided extra nutritional info., which helped me. The food was good quality, tasty, very fresh & I really enjoyed my meal!! I had a protein style double burger. It tasted like a handmade patty you'd make at home. So good, fresh & good quality beef. We ordered French fries and sweet potato fries, which came out super fresh, hot & delicious. The atmosphere was fun. The place was clean. The prices were fair. They earned these 5 stars & I can't think of anything they could improve on. Both my son & stepdaughter were really happy with their meals and our experience as well. Not busy, rainy day, but yet we hardly got service. Many workers walking around, but no one coming to check on us. Had to flag someone to get the bill. Food, not even mediocre. Came in around 8:30 PM on a Friday night. Got seated right away for two people. My bf wanted to try the adult milkshake so he got the dulce de jack shake. It had a very strong taste. If you really jack daniel, then this is your drink. I got a classic vanilla shake with banana and caramel toppings blended in. The service was fast and friendly. Food was great, super fast and friendly service. We had the coconut shrimp, onion rings, burgers, turkey melt, fried chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich. Everything was yummy. Some of the shops in town give you a coupon for a free root beer float...we did that and it was great! My only regret is that I didn't get a t-shirt! read more

Utilized to walk up window to order and take back to the room. Yummy Sandwich grilled turkey and added avocado. They only gave me 5 onion rings (which was a bit ridiculous) but they were good. Ordered a kids meal of a hotdog which came with french fries. I thought it was a good value as the dog was pretty big. read more

We were visiting the area from out of town looking for a place to eat... luckily we found this restaurant. Warm friendly fast service and the burgers were even better. I had the Frisco burger served on tasty sourdough slices with a side of fries that were nicely seasoned. Excellent; we will surly return on our next visit back to Pismo. Came in for the first time to try it out and we were in for a pleasant surprise. We've walked by many times but never stopped in for food. We went in with mediocre expectations knowing we have favorite local burger spots like eureka, the habit, and others. All of us were impressed with the service, the food, cleanliness, and eating dinner outside looking east was a completely different view than what we're used to while looking downtown. It was our first time at Cool Cats. Our friends live in the area, they told us they like it. Also that they have Chocolate Cokes! We like to try new restaurants. Once I heard chocolate Cokes! I had to try it. Their menu is pretty large. This time I tried the fish and chips. Our friend said he likes it here. I wanted something light so thought I would try it. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Only problem is with the paper "straws" I know we are near the ocean. I like to use straws. But the type they are using here just swell up. Can't even get anything out of the paper straw after a few minutes. The part in the liquid just becomes a swollen mess. I have been to other places that use paper straws, never had this problem. read more

My wife and I stopped for a quick visit to the beach and a bite to eat. This place looked cool, great atmosphere, so we stopped in. The food was great. We got a fish sandwich and a burger with fries. I was surprised how well they prepared the fish. The added bonus was that they had gluten free buns. We had their delicious root beer made with real can sugar. which was delicious. Happy to have found this on Yelp after my son's v-ball tournament; my wife and teens were starving. Saturday in September and Pismo was packed - my times have changed. Lines out the door at nearly every restaurant; we put our name in at Cool Cat and secured a table within about 10 minutes. I liked that they texted our phone to notify us without bulky buzzers. Lots of seating inside and out with that 50s diner theme. Also a large bar area up front with some nice looking cocktails and a good beer menu. Full menu of burgers, seafood, mex and classic diner items. Service was fast and friendly from the start. Strawberry and chocolate shakes were fantastic. We all ordered various burgers, fries and rings. Food came out fast - the burgers were packed with toppings and the buns were fresh baked and very good. Meat also tasted very fresh, but a bit dry and overcooked for my liking. I had a Luna burger with lots of fresh avocado and jack cheese - yum. Fries and rings were hot and perfectly seasoned. Never recommend this restaurant, it's very rude and bad service. We waited in line to order our food to-go, we though them no-dining service because we saw them actually sell hoodies and T-shirts inside the restaurant. Once we got our food and walked to The other side and we realized that they did have out-seats and we noticed it's less half capacity around 4 pm then we decided to sit down eat our food, we were pretty tired and hungry after 5-hour driving. But the waitress came to tell us that we can't sit here eat. We asked why. We just ordered food from the restaurant. She said we ordered to-go food so we can't sit down eat. We asked can we change to dining in, she said no. Then I said I can order more food or drinks, she say she can't make the decision. So we wanted to talk to the owner or manager. The manager said no. In a nutshell -- a local classic that's expanded to a tourist spot. Pi have frequented Cool Cat Cafe for decades here on the Central Coast. This is a local restaurant that has evolved. I fully endorse this place but it has moved into a tourist locale more than the local '50s burger joint it used to be. Food is good- lots of great options (maybe too many) and some great, unique concoctions. It's great to see a local business still successful and growing with a new clientele. Some great burger options and still a bit of the feel off the '50s soda shop. They even have an adult-beverage selection of shakes/drinks that is unique. Prices are up there with a more tourist /visitor focus, as opposed to our old local, college hangout. Staff is attentive but i could say a little basic - more expressive about their uniqueness, what makes them special. read more

5 stars for food and service. Came in with 10 people. That sat us right away and started taking orders. No joke when I say appetizers and cocktails were brought out in 5 minutes or less. All of the food was good. The boozy and non boozy shakes were a hit. We ordered the Hula Ham, the Marilyn burger, the Frisco burger, sweet potato and regular fries, onion rings, and a ton more which I cant remember... But it was all good. This place is AWESOME!!! We decided to eat lunch here and try to do so every time we come to Pismo Beach. I will make it quick, but I had the Chubby Checker sandwich, a grilled chicken breast smothered with Jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes. My wife had the "All shook up" with grilled chicken. 10/10, my fiancé and I love this place! It's a really cool restaurant, very retro and unique. The food is also so good and big portions. Also, I really love the drinks here!! 1st off... I vote for Curtis for president!! This guy was literally the coolest server ever! Super friendly, said he's worked there for 6 years and he had many suggestions from the menu. We started with the fried calamari strips, which were really good. I had the fresh catch tacos (so good!!!) and my husband had the rack of bbq ribs, which were nicely cooked and had a good flavor.
