Located right in the middle of town, this is a great place to get "to go" and bring back to your room which is what we did because of COVID. They have this special window for to go orders and it is pretty efficient. They even pour drinks that you can enjoy outside while waiting for your food. I had the killer chili cheese dog with onions and it was huge to say the least. Hubby had the fish sandwich which was just delicious. Food is always delicious and service is usually on point. However, I would not recommend ordering at the takeout window. I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to take my order. Several employees saw me standing there but kept walking. No one bothered to ask if I needed help. After getting tired of waiting, I decided to call in my order instead. Someone promptly picked up the phone, took my order and it was ready in 15 minutes. Dine-in service is always great, so I'm just going to say maybe no one was manning the takeout window. My experience as it was my first time here, just wanted to try somewhere new as we usually go to the same places. They offer Indoor and outdoor seating it was windy so we opted to wait for indoor seating, waited less then 10 mins not bad. Our waitress looked tired but she still was on her game. Most sandwiches and hamburgers are sold as single items so if you want fries or onion rings gotta pay extra unless you order an entrée. They make their own sodas and flavored sodas so don't expect any Pepsi or Coke. Food was good, came out hot so can't complain. Burgers were big my oldest couldn't finish her bacon avocado burger and my other daughter enjoyed her rib eye steak. My son really enjoyed the fries. Onions rings were good I enjoyed them. Ordered the rib appetizer cause my daughter wanted to try them they were tender and the bbq sauce was good. Will come back if they want, now that we have tried their food. We go to Pismo a few times a year and stay in P.C.V. in our R.V. We usually go to Wooly's the first night and on the way home we stop by the outside to-go window at Cool Cat Cafe for a milkshake. You can customize your shake, and it is always delicious. They come with fat paper straws. I love and support the idea, but they don't quite last through the whole milk shake. I usually pull out the straw half way through and put the side that was in my mouth into the cup to get a few more minutes of success, lol. Maybe ask for an extra straw and you would be golden. Not a huge issue as I always seem to eat every last bit. As I said, it's a great and definately my favorite way to end a day of chilling at the beach...my happy place! Check it out. read more

The cat is pretty cool. It's hard to find authentic diners anymore so when we were in Pismo and looking for a late lunch and a beer this seemed like a good place to hit up. Before coming here I had no idea that there are actually two locations in SLOC, one downtown and one in Pismo Beach. They even have one in Hawaii of all places. The CC has a good vibe to it. Very laid back and at the same time pretty busy. They have both bar and table dining, tables always go first. The place boasts the best burgers in town and a selection of 17 draft beers. Well I don't live here so I guess I'll take there word for it. Menu like most diner joints is heavily meat based but like most places now a days have a sub option for a beyond burger for $2 extra. Somehow I find that a bit crazy that you pay more for a burger made with plants versus raising and feeding a cow and then killing it and processing but whatever.. Most of the burger choices didn't really get my attention but I saw a burger that had Chilies on it so I asked the waiter to get a beyond burger with chilies and vegan cheese and got all the topings on rye bread. Decided to hold off the carbs and got a side salad for $4 Xtra. Food came out pretty quickly. Side salad was really fresh and good considering it's coming from a diner. Super fresh greens. Burger was delicious looking and came with a side of pineapple which was a nice twist. Took a bite of the bad boy and eyes lit up. Burger was moist and not overcooked and I liked the green chilies they put on the burger, wasn't very spicy but added great flavor. Between the salad and burger it was a perfect amount of food. My hubby and I are from out of town. We are at this cafe because we remember trying it about 3 years ago and it was delicious. We had the Clam Chowder, Combo Plate, & Bacon Cheese Burger. We love it all! The cafe gives you 50s vibes and I am all for it. I love old diner looks. Bummed I was too full to try their infamous malt shakes. Next time I will make room! Cool cat was everything I hoped for it to be. I ordered the chili cheese and it was big as my plate. It was topped with lots of cheese and chopped red onion. Ordered it with a side of yummy onion rings and a side of mozzarella sticks. My son got the deluxe burger with cheese and it was huge. My hubby got a burger with sourdough bread and avocado and that looked so yummy. I ordered a lava flow and got a free root beer float with a first time check in. We were strolling through downtown Pismo Beach when it started to pour down rain. We ducked in to the restaurant around 12;30 expecting to have to wait quite a bit of time due to the lunch crowd, but we were seated right away. This is very much a diner...think every type of burger and grilled sandwich. All of our food was really good and our server (Adrian R) did a really good job and was a sweet kid. We highly recommend the Lahain Luna sandwich, the Western Chicken, and the Duke. Let me begin by saying the customer service was great! There was young man who took our order and he was amazing! With that being said, I didnt like the coconut shrimp at all! There was way too much coconut. In my opinion it overpowered the shrimp flavor. Not to mention the shrimp was hard! To top it off, the sweet chili sauce that was served with the shrimp didn't go! First time visit to Pismo and stopped to enjoy a fabulous lunch at Cool Cat Cafe. The service was awesome and the large fresh shrimp cocktail was outstanding. Yummy. Fun. Great for families. They have a little bit of everything. I love their vibe as much as their food. The burgers are outstanding! There are not too many places like this left.
