This is a nice place. PARKING: I was towing a trailer and the parking was excellent! ENVIRONMENT: Very fun well-done interior set a nice mood. The lighting was pleasant and the acoustics were great. The place is no not so noisy you can't have a conversation like a lot of places. Fun Model "A" hanging from the ceiling. SERVICE: The hostess was very nice and on it. AJ was our server and he did a stellar job. I used to be a server and I'm a bit picky about that. If I get back to Clovis I will ask for him specifically. You won't regret it if you do ask for him. We were in Clovis for my husbands work and had a hard time finding quality food so we decided to try "Cool Hand Luke's " we were not disappointed. Beautiful place and the food was amazing. We spoke with the hostess I believe her name was Mary- Kate? What a friendly person. Our server was very pleasant and helpful and accommodating. My husband asked for something special that wasn't on the menu....no problem they made it happen. The salad was crisp and fresh ,The prime rib was yummy . The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I went with my family which is not as easy as it sounds because my mom and grandma are both disabled. We were treated well and immediately seated in one of the back rooms by ourselves. We loved this, a restaurant that was able to accommodate two disabled people that used electric wheelchairs. The food was amazing and was very reasonably priced. I had the Chuckwagon Chicken which is the best pasta dish that I have eaten at a restaurant in quite some time. I also sampled some of their other dishes and I loved all of them. Great food and great drinks. This restaurant is also awesome because you're allowed to order a drink from the bar while waiting for a table, which a few restaurants nearby do not allow. This place has amazing drinks by the way. Our server Elisa was awesome as was the entire staff. Elisa was very knowledgeable of the menu items, friendly, and gave great recommendations from the menu. Just had dinner there tonight..... Portions are on the large side. Me and the wife split a 2 for 20 combo with onion bloom & shrimp add-ons and we had more than enough plus a few extra shrimp. Service is pretty hit or miss. We've had phenomenal service and we've had servers that disappeared on us. I love prime rib so this is my go to place for that. Every meal includes a little pot of ranch beans on the table but I've never gotten the gumption to try them-I don't know if they reuse the same pots for each visitor and it makes me a little leery about the hygiene of it. The fried artichokes are great, as are some of their other appetizer options. The garlicky butter with the rolls is very good and I enjoy the crust and tenderness of the rolls. The strawberry lemonade is always a hit and I've taken out of town visitors to Cool Hand Luke's. Prices are not rock bottom but pretty comparable for a steak house. read more

I generally love this place! Even when we've started off rocky my evening has usually been salvaged! Very few and I mean very few bad experiences! Tonight however my ranch steak was really thin and over cooked! I'm waiting on a new one now. I've had to ask for a couple things several times..but that's just on the server. New to the Clovis area and this is by far my favorite spot! We come here every Friday night! They offer quality food at hefty portions for incredibly reasonable pricing! I love when meals INCLUDE soup or salad with your meal! This place also offers complementary , warm bread rolls and baked beans. The staff is always welcoming and service is always great. I've learned great service is hard to come by in Clovis. The restroom are very clean and I can see they have a restroom service that helps with this. I always judge a place by their restroom! Lol. I Love the variety of drinks they offer. My husband would prefer a larger beer selection, and that's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. On Fridays you can expect a bit of a wait, but the bar or Saloon I should say, is always a fun spot to hang out until your table is ready. Enjoy...I do!!! :-) read more

Great food! Great customer service. Forgot to take a photo. I had the Cool Hand Combo. Shrimp steak with potato. It also came with a salad. Delicious. Took a to go box home as the portion size was plentiful. I listened as one employee supported the live band set up. Service, Bar, Food flavor/portion: 5 stars Salads, burger: Could be improved on. ATMOSPHERE: Call ahead waiting is available weekdays, but not weekends (includes Friday). Entry waiting area is a little cramped, but there are plenty of other places to wait . Outdoor areas (front entrance and seating area outside of bar area) have outdoor heat lamps. Dining area has a western saloon theme with high back rests to facilitate privacy. WAIT TIME: We went at peak hour Friday night, were told it would be a 20-30 minute wait (actual wait was about 20 minutes). Went to the bar area (no pale ale on draft), were served generous glasses of their house cabernet. SERVICE: Outstanding service from our waiter. We ordered everything from our server at once, risking that our dishes would come out one on top of the other, but the entire meal was perfectly paced. Wine glasses stayed full. FOOD: Bread and Beans: Bread texture and flavor good. Butter might have had garlic and herbs, don't quite remember. Fried artichoke hearts- Breading awesome, flavor amazing, portion sized generous. Could have used an aioli sauce or some other sauce to really set it off. We enjoyed it with a little bit of lemon and found ourselves getting full. Soup: Clam chowder flavor excellent, portion generous, texture/consistency on point. Excellent clam flavor. Not too thick, not too watery. I'd drive across town for it if I was in the mood for clam chowder... possibly the best clam chowder in Fresno. Caveat * It's a solid clam chowder, but doesn't have any "pop" like green onion, bacon, etc. To really set it off, could use one more ingredient. Salad: This was the simple salad that comes with the meal as a side. It was forgettable. I've ordered the wedge at the Madera location and been disappointed, but then it's a steak house, not a salad restaurant. Long story short, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... NY Strip 9oz: Medium rare, perfectly cooked and seasoned. They did something to make it uncharacteristically tender. Would order it again. 1/2lb Burger: I was expecting a single patty. It's prepared as a double patty. Difficult to eat, fingers got really oily. Pulled out one of the patties in order to fit the burger in my mouth. Two patties make for an amazing presentation, but less height would be nice because the fried onion crisps also add to the height of the burger. read more

Never again. For years CHL was our fave for rib-eyes. Thick, cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. We recommended the place to people all of the time. It had been a few years since we'd been there. Man has things changed. Tonight's fare is now being finished off by my dog. The rib-eye I was served was $23 for a thin stringy piece of crap. I ate half. Fido the other half. The other person with me had rack of ribs they must be pretty proud of at $21! She said the ribs at Applebee's were much better! I tried a rib. Dry as a popcorn fart (boiled to death) with bland BBQ sauce. Utter disappointment and will never go again. Covid precautions: My family went to Cool Hand Lukes yesterday for dinner. We went early to avoid the dinner rush. The covid precautions were lacking. There didnt appear to be adequate spacing between patrons, nor was there any barriers such as plexiglass. Seating: The cushions on the booth were gravely broken down, cracked and uncomfortable. Food: My Husband order the calamari steak which came out luke warm and rubbery. I ordered the shrimp trio with pilof and was very disappointed with the lack of flavor. My son ordered kids pizza and steak fries. The pizza was literally a frozen mini costco pizza that was warmed up to room temp, with cold fries. Overall experience: The staff were friendly. Our server was attentive and courteous. But the food was garbage. After spending $100 dollars for 3 over priced meals that we didn't end up eating, we went home and ate a bowl of cereal for our dinner. We will not be returning. On Saturday night we decided to order dinner and have it delivered. We spent almost $90 for just the two of us. You would think they would take the time to properly prepare our order. You'd be wrong. We ordered one blue cheese dressing and one ranch for our salads. We got two ranch. I hate ranch! We ordered a baked potato. You'd think they would provide butter for it, maybe some sour cream, or some chives, or some cheese, or some bacon. Again, you'd be wrong. We received nothing. Now we even took the time to make a note on the online order stating that we wanted blue cheese dressing and yes they choose to ignore it. Our mistake, we didn't ask for all the fixings on the potato and they didn't ask so we should have put that in the notes as well, but we all know what would have happened. It would have also been ignored just like our dressing note was. Why is it so hard to find good service anymore? So disappointing. We have went to eat here several times. This is the 2nd time we got a fat filled 25 dollar steak in a row. We didnt complain this time because a drunk lady behind us was loud and annoying. Cool Hand Lukes is definitely a favorite of mine. Been here many times and can't recall a time where my order was mistaken or my steak was poorly done. My wife enjoys her steaks medium well and her steaks have always come out medium well and still juicy. Staff have always been friendly. This was my wife and I first and only visit. We will not return to Cool Hand Luke's. The food wasn't bad it was just average. I had the Tri-Tip sandwich for $15. Wow was it was small. It was cut in half and it had 3 slices of meat on one side and 4 on the other. The slices were real small. My wife's steak as an ok size for $25 but it had a bland taste. No spices at all. My wife had a salad and lobster also. $75 bill plus tip. I will have to say the service was above average. Much better than I usually get elsewhere. We will not be eating here again. We were there on a Saturay Night at 6:45pm. No waiting to get a table. There were several empty tables. Other places we go on a Saturday usually has a line to be seated. Not sure if this is normal here but seemed odd for a Saturday night if it was a good place to eat. read more

Horrible! I needed to get that out of the way. I only gave a one star because I rate any lower. My husband and son ordered the prime New York steak. As the waiter passed it to them I noticed a grey color to the steak. It looked liked a pressed piece of meat, no juice. I touched it and it was barely warm. My Jim Beam Salomon arrived and it also was cold and looked like it was made in a tortilla press. A dry piece of fish with not one drop of juice. My daughter in law ordered a filet with a side of Mac n Cheese and green beans. The Mac n Cheese was so cold the cheese just laid on top like a blanket. The green beans were cold and and has a brownish color to them. My grandson ordered Mac and Cheese and fries. His fries were hot and the Mac and Cheese cold and dried up. When the manager came over ( not at our request) she offered to get new food. She returned with the Prime New York steak for the men. Again the meat smelled gamey, it was slightly warm and served on a cold chilled plate. This experience was so bad, we all left without a meal and a bill for $180.00, which we paid. However, we will NEVER EVER eat/ order from this restaurant again. I wish Gordon Ramsey would visit the restaurant and kitchen. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that two out of four of our napkins wrapped around our utensils were unclean and had food smears. Absolutely disgusting. read more

I agree with Rose D. They used to have the best prime rib around, but I ate there yesterday. Sent the first prime rib back as it was well done! I accepted the second one, but it was medium well. (I ordered medium rare). This has happened to me the last 3 times I was there. The chef obviously can't prepare med. rare prime rib! I took my friend's left over steak home and sampled it this morning. She ordered it medium, and it was much more pink than my med. rare prime rib. The place was packed our server Alondra recommended the onion blossom as an appetizer . it was so delicious we had to order another one . my ribye steak was cook to perfection the green beans were flavorful . the bread rolls and the beans hit the spot. The free appetizer is extremely good...but don't fill up on it. The "blooming onion" is so much better than the "down under" steak house that made it famous. My Husband and I were in for our Anniversary on Thursday May 10th. He ordered the Bourbon Salmon which he enjoyed (hence the 2 stars) I ordered the rib eye medium rare with a baked potato and extra sour cream (which I had to ask for twice). Our food arrived in a timely manner however my rib eye was well done and hard to cut. I am not one to complain so I just ate about half of my steak. Later that night I began to feel nauseated and began burping the taste of the meat. That continued throughout the night, all day Friday and almost all day Saturday. I had no appetite and did not eat any food from the time I had dinner until I finally ended up vomiting Saturday evening. You can say that left a bad taste in my mouth.
