It is popular with dog owners, which is also why I find that it tends to smell here like wet dogs. It is popular due to being easy access to Tahoe City on foot and having watercraft rentals. You'll still get the pretty mountain views and pines, but the water here is mucky from the dirt/gravel/dogs rather than sparkling clear blue that is hallmark of Tahoe.
