Spent last weekend in the Alamo city as a getaway from Houston. My companion heard about Copa and suggested it for a night on the town. I was thinking it was a restaurant because ya know it has wine bar and tasting room in the name, so maybe I shouldn't have gone hungry! Then again it was a great excuse to pretty much order everything on the menu! Obviously being a wine bar they have a wide selection and can appease any taste, but since I'm not a wine guy I went classic with the red sangria. It was amazing by the way. Their menu is mainly heavy apps is what they called it? Like I said I went hungry so we had nearly everything. First the Pommes frites along with the brisket nachos, and they both did not disappoint. Next the charcuterie plate because a little fancy never hurt anyone, and it tastes pretty darn good! Follow that up with the Credo Borracho. Because who doesn't want a pizza named the drunk pig? Then lastly were the desserts. they have two... The Chocolate Mousse cake and the Jubilee cake, so we had both. That was the best idea of the night. The environment is very cozy and the service is outstanding. Being that it is a wine bar/lounge there are many options to choose from although, don't let that intimidate you; especially if you are knew to wine tasting. If there is a certain wine you are wanting to try, they will see if they have one open already so you can taste test before "committing" to it. To be completely honest though, there hasn't been one i've tried there that I haven't been fond of as of yet. The waitresses are very well versed and the food/apps are all delicious. Gah. I want to love this place so much. The food is delicious and the wine is amazing but the service is just so so so so bad. When you walk in, it's awkward because you don't know what to do. Came here for a date night with my boyfriend. I loved the decor of the place, with the wine bottles displayed in arrays all over the walls. They had an extensive selection of wine. We ordered a bottle of their Bordeaux. It was $30 for the bottle and $10 for glass, so the bottle ended up being the better deal since a bottle is typically 4 glass pours. We also ordered their charcuterie board and the caprese pizza. The charcuterie board had a good selection of meats & cheeses and came with some bread. The pizza was excellent. You could definitely taste the fresh basil and mozzarella. Both were larger than expected and filled us both up with lots of leftovers. This place is definitely on the pricier side, but then again, it is a wine bar, which are known to be expensive. I would definitely come back and hope to come here during HH some day! read more

So a gem of Stone Oak is Copa Wine bar while I have visited many times my review focuses on a recent date night there this last week. My gal had never been and it was my suggestion. I was confident because I knew the food, service, and wines all to be great in the past. My pick payed off as the expected quaint atmosphere with appropriate dim lighting was perfect. As far as noise there is enough background noise for privacy but perfect to hear each other while sitting on adjacent sides of a 4 top table (not across the table) Our waiter arrives and we ask for a wine suggestion based on our taste and budget and he pulls a quite good bottle that was well enjoyed. For dinner again to our waiter for his suggestion. Again out of the park. It was a pizza with vodka sauce and a lot of fresh basil. The basil was the star of the show! The crust was perfectly cooked thin like I like with enough char to make it taste like something! So up to this point we are 100% on waiter recommendations and I know the chocolate cake to be out is this world especially with that last glass of red wine for each of us in that bottle. Gentlemen: to share a piece of chocolate cake and bottle of red wine with a woman..... yeeesssss!!! Very romantic. Initial impression was really poor, as no one greeted us at the door (there is no host stand or greeter) and we had to wander and find an employee to ask how to get on the wait list. The first few employees we spoke to were fairly rude and seemed bothered that we requested a table. However, once we were seated, our waiter was awesome and had great recommendations. The wine was very good, at a decent price point, and the food was tasty (feta is the bomb). We came for restaurant week, and were disappointed to find out on arrival that the RW special was only available to go. That was a little annoying considering the website did not mention that detail (we overheard other tables that came for RW and were disappointed as well). I found this place two years ago and immediately fell in love. It has a very intimate scenery which is really really nice. The upstairs area is really good for having get-togethers party or group dinners. They have over 200 different types of wines. My favorite item on the menu is the warm spinach dip it's the best spinach dip I've ever had in my entire life definitely two thumbs up. They're open till 1 a.m. the kitchen closes at midnight. LISTEN. I'm so mad I didn't take pictures when I went here last week, totally my bad. This place is GREAT. I just so happened to be off and able to go for the happy hour (starts at 3!) and indulgeeeee. First, our waiter was fantastic. Marvin was his name I believe. He had all the knowledge about wine and suggested different kinds based on what mood we were in. He suggested the spinach dip which was delicious. It isn't too runny like some places make it. Very cheesy and full of flavor. We also had the pommes frites (French fries) which come with your choice of 3 homemade aiolis. Get them. I can't remember which ones we had but I know we had one that was a curry mustard and one that was a spicy mayo. They change weekly I think, so try them all! They had other appetizers that I wanted to try but didn't because I was kinda pressed for time. Apps are buy one get one half off during happy hour and I believe the wine is also half off! Definitely try it out. Great atmosphere for a date night, girls night, shoot, a bad day at work and you want to be alone the service is top notch. Really. This used to be my favorite place to get pizza in San Antonio and one of my favorite dining options in stone oak, but I can no longer suggest this place to my friends and family, the ambiance is refreshing and unique however the pizza is now very disappointing, they made the size of the pizza smaller although I was told they use the same amount of dough so maybe to fit more food in the oven or to battle inflation and require less toppings (which there certainly were less toppings) I'm not sure, but it completely lost the essence of what made it special in my eyes, I would have rather paid an extra $5 to eat the old version of the pizza with a nice thin crunchy dough and a pleasant amount of flavor (toppings) as opposed to the new version I received today which was highly reminiscent of digiornios and lacked all toppings, I noticed a happy hour option which I hadn't seen before and tried the bruschetta, this was absolutely the quality I expected from Copa and was delicious, but I can't seem to wrap my head around why they would ruin the pizza, if it's inflation then the new happy hour doesn't make sense to me either, or maybe they just want to focus on wine sales and appetizers, either way pretty bummed my opinion of Copa has been tainted and my experience was disappointing. read more

Copa is my favorite outlet for when the mood strikes. Before i delve into the wine, I'd like to mention that I've sampled a few of their specialty shots and their sake and all of it has been top notch. The service here is always a step above the rest. They make killer suggestions every time I need some help navigating their ample drink menu and each glass of wine I've tried has varied from good to outstanding. They're constantly in a scurry to get drinks too which I love. The little bit of food I've sampled has been simple, understated but nonetheless better than the usual "burger and fries" type of fare. I recently tried a thin crust meat pizza and it was quite tasty with delicious seasoned toppings. The only drawback to this place is the price imho. Its not outrageous but it also keeps me from being a regular. The pros definitely outweigh the cons here so bring your manners and some cash to burn and you'll fully enjoy your wine-o self. read more

Day seven of our road trip to San Diego, stop 6. Finally arriving in San Antonio, we found our host's apartment in the suburbs, weaved through the strip malls and boulevards, and took a few minutes to freshen up. Jenny our host explained that she wasn't very impressed with the local flavor of the suburb she's in. She likes the people, but has a hard time finding a few spots she can call home outside of her deluxe accommodation gated apartment complex. She reaches out to a neighbor and he suggests the Copa Wine Bar. Destination in hand, we head out. The drinks limited to beer and wine, the Copa Wine Bar is definitely a treat where the chains are king. As we drove to the Copa, I couldn't help but notice that there existed here almost every fast food, fast casual, and casual dining chain known. The Copa is hidden away in yes, another strip mall, but once past the doors, the space is cozy. Wooden tables, dark colors, and a perfect wine bar decor helped me forget I was probably steps away from Outback and Hooters. The wine list was large and comprehensive, and the prices were fair. The wine is priced to encourage bottle purchases, so I was easily convinced to buy the B.R. Cohn "Silver Label" Cabernet. One of my all time favorites, it made my day. It did well to accompany the spicy hummus plate which came out with just the right amount of toasted pita chips. Jenny went for a wine flight, four wines from Italy, and was pleased. She usually goes for more full bodied and bold reds, and found she liked the Duoro best of all. Next to the Primativo and Sangiovese, no kidding! Well, after the flight, bottle, hummus and cheese plate, we called it a night. A good night, thanks to Copa Wine Bar. I can't wait to visit Jenny again so we can return. The ambiance of this establishment begins in the suburban strip mall parking lot. My husband and I walked into the dark, small wine bar. The decor was shabby and consisted of a large hodgepodge of empty wine boxes along the wall....so not what I expected from a wine bar! I met a friend here after work and we enjoyed the ambience, food, and wine. We got the Bruschetta to start and it was delicious! It was flavorful and the ingredients were fresh. We also got the El Jefe pizza which was a nice change from a traditional pizza. It had pork, onion, barbecue sauce, and a dill pickle ranch dressing drizzled on top. I had flight #8 Give em the boot, which consisted of 4 flavorful Red wines. My friend ordered flight #2 Chardy Party and liked all 4 wines as well.
