I work nearby and looked on Yelp for a place to take my car. I went there around lunchtime fully expecting to drop around a grand on new tires, regular oil change and basic maintenance for a 3-year-old car. Before quoting me, one of the guys walked outside with me to check my tires. Not only did he tell me he wouldn't recommend replacing them because the tread was still good, but he taught me how to check the tires so I would know when they needed replaced. I left my car for the minor maintenance I needed and picked it up after work. Price and quality of work was as expected. As long as I live in DFW, I'll have Coppell Tire & Auto handle my car needs. I almost never leave reviews, much less negative reviews. But I've never been more disgusted with my service at any auto shop I've ever been to (and as somebody who road trips a lot and has lived in many different places, I've been to dozens.) I dropped my car off on a Tuesday around noon for a road-worthiness check & oil change and was told they wouldn't be able to get to it that day, but definitely by Wednesday midday. No worries, I only need it by Thursday evening/ Friday morning. By Thursday at noon, I've still heard nothing. When I called, they told me they hadn't even checked it out yet! I got flustered on the phone, concerned that if there was a real issue, there's no way they'd be able to get to it before the weekend. Instead of apologizing or showing any amount of reassurance, the man on the phone yelled at me to call my Congressman and stop paying unemployment so that they would have more technicians. Absolutely rude and unprofessional. To make matters infinitely worse, when I did leave for my road trip, I found that my steering wheel vibrates badly at high speeds. After dealing with it for a couple of days, I stopped at a shop while staying with a friend and discovered that my wheels are so unbalanced that I need all 4 of my tires replaced, my rear shocks replaced, and likely my struts as well. It's not a safety issue, but it's making the car nearly undriveable. When I said I'd *just* gotten my car checked out, the technician laughed in disbelief. I'm not sure whether Coppell Tire & Auto was simply doing a poor job of checking out my car, or lying to me because they realized they didn't have enough time to make the changes my car needs, but either way, they managed to screw me up during an extremely busy summer and I wish I'd trusted literally any other establishment with my vehicle. They overcharged me and didn't do their jobs. read more

This place is very highly rated so I was quite surprised by my negative experience. Not with the prices or services.....with Shannon the OWNER! What an A*HOLE! I dropped off at 9am, was given an approximate wait time of 2hrs. After 3hrs, I called to check if my vehicle was ready. I was pretty much told (by Shannon) that this is what you get when you try to do business with him on a Saturday & that if I didn't like it, I could come get me keys. Which I promptly did. No alignment completed. I've worked retail on Saturdays. I totally get it. If he would have been courteous about it & I dunno, even the SLIGHTEST bit apologetic, I would have understood. I had some body work done and it was fantastic...It made my car look so much younger for a 98 Honda...I drove up to the shop for the detail and noticed antifreeze under the car and the fan motor was really going fast. They did an oil change and an inspection for a very good price. They checked the car for leaks and loose belts because of the antifreeze and did not see anything but I needed a radiator cap.The car got hot when it was 105 Saturday so the car went back to shop to recheck it. Turned out to be a major issue with a fan that cools the engine stopped working and they fixed it!! Thanks guys!!! What a Great!!! Team. Leslie read more

Do NOT go here! I took my Tahoe in at 8am sharp to get an oil change and my alignment done and tires balance because I had to be at work, and I told them I was in a rush. 2 and a half hours later I had to ask for the status of my Tahoe. They had just finished the oil change. I was late for work and they forgot to align my tires and balance them. Unacceptable. I had been there before and seen how they treat customers. They act like you are an inconvenience an like they shouldn't have to explain what's wrong with your car. The mechanics look like thugs and the owner is obviously lazy, cuts corners, and they are so overpriced. I will never return to this place and hope you read this before you end up there. I never thought I'd say this about mechanics but I actually trust them. They've lent loaner cars and trucks to both my girl and me for free. Just moved to Coppell. I was referred to Coppell Tire and Auto by a friend when I asked about a local place to get a reasonable oil change and tire rotation. Overall the service was friendly and I could tell they care about pleasing their customers. After a long wait for my vehicle they gave me a huge discount my service! I did not even have to ask, they just offered it! Been doing business here for over 7 years and over 7 different cars including family and friends. MOST HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY auto repair shop I have ever done business with. Why 5 stars? Many Reasons but here are two that stand out: 1- My wife's VW had airbag light come on. Went to dealer as we had an extended service contract. Dealer said "no problem" and would install new driver airbag. Dealer called back in 30 minutes to say ESC did not cover bag only sensors, so repair was on us. $700 - Really! Went immediately to CT&A. They found a broken wire under driver's seat that guys at carwash apparently broke while vacuuming. $86 and a day later we were out the door sans light on dash. 2- My 120k mile Escalade had two front tires badly worn on inside only. Went back to well known tire store where I purchased 4 new tires several months before. They did an inspection and said that my high mileage vehicle needed $2k worth of front end suspension components. OK back to Coppell Tire for an estimate. Purchased 2 tires and a badly needed front end alignment for $56. Of course not all repairs are that inexpensive but every repair was done at very fair price in a timely and professional manner. read more

I bought a new alternator that apparently I did not need since 15 miles down the road I had the same issue as when I decided to take my car to Coppell Tire & Auto because of it's great reviews; the engine would not turn over until I slammed the door closed and returned several minutes later, the engine would then start. All this was explained along with the comment 'I think something has a bad connection'. I was told my car would be looked at that day but it was the following day when I was notified I had a bad battery and needed a new alternator, only after I contacted them because it was getting late on the 2nd day of being in the shop and I had not heard a word from them. I pick the car up on Friday afternoon and Friday night, 15 miles later, it is having the same issue, there I am $700 later. I debated on taking the car back first thing Monday morning but at this point I am frustrated and had no confidence they were going to repair my car without another huge bill. I take my car to the Honda Dealer Monday morning and come to find out the battery cable clamp did not fit the battery post, it was loose causing it to lose connection causing the car not to start until it was jarred to gain a connection. Now, I am no mechanic but if I am working on a car that needs a new alternator because it supposedly had a bad battery would you not think to check the battery and cables? And the worst part of this story is when I called and complained to the manager, he told me it was the owner who worked on my car and there was no sense of concern that they had not fixed my car and I was told I should have brought it back Monday morning and they would have fixed the issue. Well....why would they not do that during the 1.5 days they had my car to begin with? read more

I have bringing my car and my family's cars to Coppell Tire and Auto for about 15 years. It's a relief to have a mechanic you can trust. Over the years they have given me rides home when I had to leave my car. I have had them do diagnostics on any used car that I had planned to buy to let me know what the condition was. Any time I need air in my tires, I drive over and they inflate my tires. I feel that that they are fairly priced and provide great service. I have always had good results with any work done and with used cars for my (sometimes reckless) children, and an aging personal vehicle, I have had much work done. I recommend them highly. But once they got the chance to give the Jeep a once over they called and told me everything that needed to be done along with being completely honest with me about what didn't need to be done now and could wait.
