The view from this place was breathtaking, the service was amazing. The food absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the KFC, that was my favorite. I would also get the red dragon roll again, charred fish. I plan to come back and try more foods. Special shout out to John Carlo for taking such great care of us.

This was recently renovated with new furniture and with amazing ocean views in an outdoor covered location. The service was phenomenal and I even found out that one of the buskers is the son of the sushi chef so I got the scoop what to order as their favorite m. Such a kind gentleman. The drinks were delicious and the ambiance with live Hawaiian dancing and music was the best. Bring your children, have them learn some hula, and watch the smiles. This is definitely larger like a restaurant, so don't be scared of the bar in the name. Great spot!

Really hard to find especially at night so make sure you reserve like 5 minutes to just finding this restaurant. Service was okay. My husband ordered a drink and they never brought it but they put it in the bill (we had them remove it). Food is okay. Seems overpriced, only worth it for the view, maybe? I would rather spend that much money somewhere else.

Bougie restaurant with a bar--name is deceiving. Good views and drinks but very overpriced. Service is good. They have pricey brunches for special occasions ($512 for 4 adults, not including drinks.) They will tempt you with cheaper options like salads and eggs--do not be swayed. Go for the poke, shrimp, crab, sashimi, and butter fish. Nice beach access and vibes.

Came in early for some shareable appetizers and a sunset view. We ordered the green beans (uninspired and a little too heavy on the hoisin), the beet salad, the gyoza (not your typical style but still tasty--more cannoli than dumpling), the calamari (too salty), and the fresh tuna sashimi (spot-on). The verdict? Stunning sunset, fun vibe, but the food doesn't quite rise to the occasion.

Located within a hotel (Marriott Autograph Collection), it's a destination afternoon and dinner establishment. Bar is a bit of a misnomer - it's mainly a restaurant. It has great sunset views and the ocean breeze wafts through gracefully. The service was fairly good. Since the hotel guests have few dining options, its best that you make dinner reservations as soon as possible. We were on vacation, so drinks before dinner: Mai Tais. We liked them: it was either the drinks themselves, the ocean breeze, being on vacation, the open dining environment, OR all of the above. (As a tip, my personal preference is to add a packet of sweetener to my Mai Tai.) We started with the Hearts of Palm Salad. This salad is as straight-forward as it looks, see my pic. All the fruit and veggies were fresh. This salad has a citrus flavor palate, as you can see by the grapefruit sections and the caper citrusette (lemon) dressing. It was light and refreshing. We followed this with the Red Dragon Roll, see pic. There is a crab mix inside and topped with ahi. The crunchiness of golden Yuzu Tobiko was a super compliment fresh ahi and creamy avocado. The flavors of the garlic aioli and unagi (eel) sauce added the requisite depth to the prominently featured ahi. On the heartier side we ordered their Brick Oven Flatbreads. The Cochon is basically a meat-lovers meal, see pic. It didn't disappoint with all the various types of rich meat. It also has 3 types of cheeses - somewhere under the meat. On the lighter side of the flatbread spectrum is the Hamakua Mushroom flatbread. This has diced mushrooms, see my pic, and uses truffle sea salt (the truffle flavor was faint, at best).

Copper Fries - arguably the best item on the menu

If nothing else, the Copper Bar is consistent. Consistently slow. Our reservation was at 7:45pm, we were seated at 8:00, ordered drinks, ordered food and waited. When the piña coladas came out, they were very watery tasting. No flavor. They remade them, but still sub par. The food arrived 43 minutes after ordering. The Rainbow Veggie Rolls are devoid of flavor - avoid. The Copper Fries - one of their best items. The burger was good - but cooked rare. The pizza was good - second best item The edamame - came out cold and have no seasoning what's so ever. The wait staff is nice, but overwhelmed. Mauna Kea needs better restaurant options. On Sunday and Monday, the only night restaurant available is the Copper Bar. The 3 star review is being generous.

Our party of eight had a great time. Casual but still in the historic environment of this landmark. I first came here for dinner in 1980, staying at the hotel a couple of times in the 90's when kama'aina rates were affordable, and the place is still magical. Not inexpensive but memorable which is what we seek in dining experience. I do think that the big screen tv behind us was way out of place and a distraction from the fine live music and hula. Did not need to have football . Focus on the moment and the beautiful location, right? Marriott must have decided they needed a big screen viewing area for tech bros but traditionalists would be appalled as this was once a hotel without tv in the rooms and was a place to unplug. Nonetheless the sushi was quite good and it's great to see the grand old lady still in the game. Totally different vibe from Manta but quite enjoyable. Mahalo

We had such great experiences at Copper Bar that we chose to dine there 3 times during our stay at Mauna Kea. If you don't have reservations in the evening, you will wait for a few even if staying at the property but the food and the ambiance are well worth it. Udon Noodles were one of the best I've ever had with a unique taste profile. I was a bit underwhelmed by the Hamachi Sashimi but the Mahi Mahi special was delicious. Service was attentive during all 3 visits. They even brought out a special ice cream dessert for my mom's birthday. The evening live music with a hula dancer accompanying was great. I'd highly recommend Copper Bar for a memorable meal.

only good for atmosphere... margharite pizza was soggy and bland, absolutley no seasoning. the sauce tasted generic. The sushi was medicore nothin great for a place like this. Also got calamari but came out cold.. ridicululous. The best part of my familys meal was the water lol.

This wasn't just a dinner; it was our absolute favorite meal of the entire trip. We didn't even have a special occasion to celebrate--we just had a phenomenal experience here in the past and couldn't wait to return. They somehow managed to exceed every expectation. From the second we walked in, we were blown away. We loved the Tiki Bar, everyone is family when you walk in, history covering the walls ambiafamily-friendly; ev Seafood We were greeted by Dave Yurtin, the owner, who set up a fabulous table for us inside. But here is the kicker: Dave actually remembered us from our first visit two years ago! Talk about a total legend. We couldn't believe his memory--that is next-level hospitality. Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Do not skip this! - Garlic Bread: Spectacular and perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor. - Fish Linguine: A rich, perfectly balanced cream sauce packed with different types of fresh fish. Somehow, we saved room for dessert and tried FOUR different ones: the Key Lime Pie was unbelievable, the Lilikoi Pie and Kona Coffee Pie were spectacular, and the NY Cheesecake with Lilikoi Sauce was the perfect grand finale. Between Dave's legendary memory, Ryan's flawless service, and a kitchen that doesn't miss, Seafood Bar & Grill is an absolute must-visit. We will be talking about this meal until our next visit! Thank you for an unforgettable night!

Everyone was eating and trying to share their food with my hungry son who was in tears after waiting another 30 minutes for his food.
